[00:00:00] Oh, bless my Buckingham Palace. Bless my butt. I want to do a like a Nickelback cover of the Friends theme song. It's kind of popped into my head here. So no one told you life was gonna be this way. That's just butt rock version of Friends. Butt friends. Hell yeah.

[00:00:29] We are butt friends. Rick, where'd you get a hand grenade? I don't know. What a do everybody. It's me, Aaron. I'm five quarters Bulgarian and two sixteenths Badger. And I'm Jerry and I keeps it tight for Jesus Christ. You're listening to SuperPod Saga. Nice and taut. Very tight. Very nice. Very tight. Oh my god.

[00:01:09] I was going to have that one scene in Borat. I think it was before he goes to meet Pamela Anderson. He's like, how's my back pussy? And he's like, nice, nice. Very moist. He's taking like a blow dryer to it. Oh, my back pussy. Yeah. Man, the just the the like words in the script of that movie. But there is no real script. Just the words.

[00:01:39] In them. Like just the dialogue itself is insane. Yeah, please Pamela. I want you to be my wife. Holy shit, dude. What a great movie. Hey, it's SuperPod Saga. Hello, everybody. Welcome back. This is the second greatest collaboration of all time. Jerry and I are on a quest to talk about every video game topic in existence when we get a time. And today, what are we talking about today, Jerry?

[00:02:07] If you haven't already heard me up on my soapbox yelling at people and screaming at people to go play UFO 50. I've threatened Aaron and said that I will no longer be a part of this podcast if we did not do a special episode dedicated to UFO 50 breaking down our top five games, which is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be because there's a lot. There's a lot to get into.

[00:02:30] There is there's yeah, 50 games. They're all very, very unique. I mean, except for the sequels there. Of course, there's sequels, but yeah, it was tough for me too, man. But we get to that here in a little bit. Actually, no. Yeah. Do you have any super important breaking news? There's no guests. First of all, there's no guests. So we're not doing the guest question.

[00:02:52] No guests. Yeah. Do you have any super important? I do. There is some super important breaking news. Did you hear that the game awards have now added shadow of the earth tree as a contender for game of the year?

[00:03:13] Like the DLC? Not like not all of Elden Ring, just shadow of the earth tree. Yes. So some people are kind of like, I don't think that counts. I am of the opinion that it does because that game is a full ass game, dude. That's like a 40 hour long game. It's longer than Demon's Souls.

[00:03:43] Holy shit. It's a full thing and it's full thing. It's a full thing and it's real good. I totally agree with it. It sucks though, because I feel like did Phantom Liberty come out this year? Was that last year? The Cyberpunk DLC. That was supposed to have been amazing.

[00:04:03] I think last year. I think last year. And it probably just got awarded for like best DLC. I'm sure there's a category for like best DLC. But like should games that have DLC be able to be nominated for a game of the year award? Like, I don't know. It's a tricky question.

[00:04:23] But it's also kind of perfect because one of the things I want to talk about with UFO 50 has to do with the fact of people's perception of the game. You know what I mean? Like some people are like, UFO 50 is a game. To me, UFO 50 is not a game. UFO 50 is a collection.

[00:04:43] That makes sense. Just like how you wouldn't say like Capcom Fighting Collection 3 is my favorite game because it's not a game. It's a collection of games.

[00:04:55] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's I don't know. It's it's a tough one to crack. But I think in my opinion, I do think that Shadow of the Earth Tree deserves to to be nominated for for game of the year because it's like I said, it's a full game. Like it's not it's not like it was like a two hour long DLC. Like if they were like, yeah, we nominated that fucking DLC pack that gives you the really cool armor and monster hunter as game of the year.

[00:05:23] Like gives you a cool fucking emo of you doing a dab. Yeah, I think people would be pretty pissed and I would be one of them. But I don't know not to sound too hypocritical or anything, but I think that if a game is as polished and as full featured as something like Shadow of the Earth Tree, it deserves deserves that. I think is Shadow of the Earth Tree. Is that a better experience than just like vanilla?

[00:05:52] Elden Ring or Elden Ring or it's like the same thing, but just more story or it? Yeah, I mean, it's definitely on par with Elden Ring. The map is smaller, but like it's still insanely big for what it is like.

[00:06:12] Like it's huge and you're still going to explore a lot. And the thing is, though, you can't.

[00:06:20] You can't really play it until you've gotten like pretty far in Elden Ring like you got to get pretty far.

[00:06:28] And it's kind of like cryptic. If you didn't look up on the Internet what you're supposed to do, like like there's no like load in to the DLC from the main menu.

[00:06:37] You have to like go to a very specific spot and there's a thing that you have to interact with.

[00:06:42] And it's like a spot that I don't know, I wouldn't have ever thought of going there unless it was very like plain and put out there that, hey, you got to go here and do this thing and talk to this person and go through this portal.

[00:06:56] Okay.

[00:06:57] That's real good.

[00:06:58] That sounds really cool.

[00:06:59] What year did Vanilla Elden Ring come out again?

[00:07:01] It was like it was 2020 Vanell Elden Ring.

[00:07:05] But yeah, my bad. I'm also trying to there was a piece of news I was trying to look up as well, too.

[00:07:10] But yeah, Vanell Elden Ring came out, I think, in 2022.

[00:07:16] Okay, that's why.

[00:07:18] Yeah, I thought. Yeah, I had one piece of news, actually, that I was I was reading about this morning while I was reading my coffee, but then fucking forgot about because work has been a little bit.

[00:07:27] Did you read your coffee?

[00:07:28] What?

[00:07:28] Did it?

[00:07:30] Jesus Christ, I'm sorry.

[00:07:32] I'm kind of getting sick.

[00:07:33] So my brain is like, yeah.

[00:07:35] Yeah, keep it tight for the Lord.

[00:07:36] Keep my brain tight for the Lord.

[00:07:39] No, so there was there's an article I was reading about this morning while I was drinking my coffee that I was reading.

[00:07:45] So there's this article on time extension about this user named Desk.

[00:07:50] I think it's what he goes by.

[00:07:51] He's discovering all sorts of new cool combos in was it Capcom versus SNK2?

[00:07:57] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:58] Because there's when you when you pick your character, you can pick different fighting styles.

[00:08:02] There's like I said again.

[00:08:04] There's a groove B groove and stuff like that.

[00:08:07] But with with the a groove, you basically string together combos easier.

[00:08:11] But basically, yeah, he's just throwing together moves, making all sorts of new combos in that game.

[00:08:16] And it's been out since 2002.

[00:08:18] So it's yeah, crazy to 23 years on.

[00:08:21] People are still discovering new shit in that game.

[00:08:24] It's wild.

[00:08:25] Hell, yeah.

[00:08:25] I love stuff like that.

[00:08:26] I love it when like old games like people like I think I read recently, too, that somebody found some like lost cheat in Donkey Kong Country 2.

[00:08:39] That was like just buried in the code.

[00:08:43] What the hell?

[00:08:44] Yeah.

[00:08:45] Like it's so cool when people start data mining these old games and just find the most random shit.

[00:08:54] I'm going to read it right now, dude.

[00:08:56] It took decades.

[00:08:58] Right plus Y, left plus A, up plus B, down plus X.

[00:09:02] Oh, shit.

[00:09:03] You can exit the level anytime or return to the overworld map, even if you haven't beaten the stage yet.

[00:09:08] That's I don't know how the fuck people find this.

[00:09:12] Yeah, I think like they even said that it was probably used when they were developing the game just to be like, all right, exit out of the level.

[00:09:21] And then it just got buried and they were like there.

[00:09:27] Fuck it.

[00:09:27] Fuck it.

[00:09:29] Okay.

[00:09:29] That's cool.

[00:09:39] It's time to talk about our top five games of UFO 50.

[00:09:43] This was so hard for me.

[00:09:45] Yeah.

[00:09:46] There's so many good ones.

[00:09:47] Aaron, tell the people what UFO 50 is because I've already been saying it, but I need somebody else to say it.

[00:09:55] Yeah, man.

[00:09:56] So UFO 50 is a collection of, you guessed it, 50 games made by, what's the name of the company again?

[00:10:03] It's like BD Soft.

[00:10:04] Moss Mouth.

[00:10:05] Oh, I'm talking about like, well, yeah, Moss Mouth.

[00:10:07] But what's the company named in the game?

[00:10:08] The company, the company name is UFO Soft.

[00:10:11] Is it UFO Soft?

[00:10:13] Okay.

[00:10:13] Yeah.

[00:10:13] Because sometimes the logo even kind of like, the first couple times I was like, does that say Ubisoft?

[00:10:20] Because it kind of has like, it almost looks like the Ubisoft logo, like the old Ubisoft logo.

[00:10:24] Yeah.

[00:10:25] In a couple of like the games, like more of the newer games that came out like later in the console's life cycle.

[00:10:32] Okay.

[00:10:32] The console.

[00:10:33] Oh my God.

[00:10:33] There's so many, there's so many things to talk about here.

[00:10:35] Like.

[00:10:36] Yeah.

[00:10:37] It's so, so yeah.

[00:10:38] Made by Moss Mouth who made Spelunky.

[00:10:40] But basically the game is a collection of games made by the fictional company UFO Soft for the fictional console.

[00:10:49] It's like the VD.

[00:10:51] The LX.

[00:10:52] It's the LX.

[00:10:53] Yeah.

[00:10:54] There we go.

[00:10:55] And.

[00:10:56] It's the LX.

[00:10:56] And there was three of them.

[00:10:58] There's LX1, 2, and 3.

[00:10:59] And like, they have gone so far as to, I mean, if anybody's familiar with the mini consoles, like the Nintendo ones, you know, if you fire up a SNES mini and it kind of has like this cool display of like the games with like the, like a cartridge or something.

[00:11:19] Or like the box art and then like you sift through it and it often will say like, you know, the date it was released and stuff like that.

[00:11:28] They do that and then take it an extra step.

[00:11:32] And they've, they've made like, again, this is a fictional console by a fictional company in a fictional collection of these things.

[00:11:42] And they have a chronology to them.

[00:11:45] Like when you first load it up, you can, cause you can sort the 50 games by a few different filters.

[00:11:52] Like there's chronologically, which is how I usually have mine sorted.

[00:11:56] You can add favorites.

[00:11:57] I don't know if you knew that or not.

[00:11:59] You can, you can add things to a favorites tab.

[00:12:01] Then there's like your progress.

[00:12:03] So stuff that you're working on and how far you've gotten, how far you are to completing them.

[00:12:09] Um, and then there's like Epic Games, which that describes games that have battery saves, that have a save system.

[00:12:18] And they're usually a little longer.

[00:12:19] Okay.

[00:12:20] Then there's Thinkie Games, which are like your puzzle ones.

[00:12:23] Thinkie Games.

[00:12:24] It says Thinkie Games.

[00:12:26] Um, and that's another thing too.

[00:12:27] Like the humor that like, have you ever played Spelunky?

[00:12:31] Oh yeah.

[00:12:32] And Spelunky too.

[00:12:33] Yep.

[00:12:33] Like I find there's a certain humor, like, and I, uh, like a comedy of errors that happens in those games that like, it's hard to describe them until you're playing.

[00:12:45] Like it's, it's that, that comedy of everything's going so good for you.

[00:12:50] You're on a fucking real good run.

[00:12:53] And then you just do one dumb thing and like slip fall, do this thing.

[00:12:59] Something blows up.

[00:13:00] A thing goes flying.

[00:13:00] You get hit with an arrow.

[00:13:01] You go flying down a pit.

[00:13:03] You land on your friend.

[00:13:04] Your friend goes flying.

[00:13:05] It's just like, it's just, it's just chaos happening.

[00:13:10] And that style of humor is like so apparent in this game.

[00:13:17] And I mean, we'll, we'll get into that in a little bit.

[00:13:21] I don't want to get too sidetracked.

[00:13:22] I want to make sure that we outline the game as a whole.

[00:13:25] But, um, so besides like, uh, the, the chronological order, each kind of segment of the, the chronology of the games is broken up by, they had the LX system.

[00:13:41] Um, they had LX one.

[00:13:43] And then there was LX two and LX three.

[00:13:45] So games that were released later in like, I think the last game that was released was that, uh, the owl.

[00:13:53] I can't remember what the name of it is, but it's, it's like, it is cyber owls.

[00:13:58] Sorry.

[00:13:59] Okay.

[00:13:59] So cyber owls, that's the last one.

[00:14:02] And it was 1989, you know, quote unquote, 1989.

[00:14:06] Um, the thing about this collection though, that I don't know if, you know, if you're listening to this and you're like, yeah, I've heard about this, this thing, this UFO 50.

[00:14:15] The thing that I think like sometimes people may not like understand like the true scope of these games is that nine out of 10 of like the time, these games are full ass games.

[00:14:31] They're not like, some of them are super short.

[00:14:34] I like, I, I've, I mean, I beat one yesterday that took me 15 minutes and yeah, the big bell race.

[00:14:41] This is just eight races and you just have to come in first.

[00:14:44] That said, I'm pretty good at like those games.

[00:14:50] So I don't know, maybe, maybe it was just lucky, but then there's other things like Grimstone, which is an RPG and it's like 21 hours.

[00:15:01] Like it's a full ass RPG.

[00:15:02] It's not just like a little snippet of something.

[00:15:06] These aren't like mini games.

[00:15:07] And the crazy thing is like how good they took like that era of video games in the 80s and kind of went, oh, you remember Zelda?

[00:15:21] Well, here's our spin on that whole thing.

[00:15:24] Like you, you'll play a game and you're like, oh, this is kind of like this game, like this classic game, but it's totally its own thing.

[00:15:34] Like, like, I mean, as an example, Waldorf's Journey.

[00:15:37] I don't know if you got to play that one.

[00:15:39] It's the one with the, uh, the walrus guy.

[00:15:41] Yeah.

[00:15:42] Yeah.

[00:15:42] It's pretty much like balloon fight, but like it's, it's got like its own thing going for it.

[00:15:51] Like you can land and then there's like power ups and stuff.

[00:15:55] It's, it's just, it's insane.

[00:15:57] It's absolutely insane.

[00:15:58] It's insane what Mossmouth was able to accomplish with this whole collection.

[00:16:02] Like I, I, I'm totally in disbelief that most of these games that I've thrown on, I've, I've thrown on every one of them to some capacity.

[00:16:11] Some are like a lot more than others, but for the most part, they're all really cool.

[00:16:17] Oh, and another thing, if you were like me and you love beating them games all year round, they track your progress.

[00:16:29] And they'll like, when you, you can look at a game and it'll tell you what the conditions are to gold cart the game.

[00:16:38] And when you get a gold cart, that means you've beat the main game.

[00:16:44] But then there's also cherrying the games.

[00:16:47] So if you want to get a cherry cart, which is a red cart in the, in the collection thing, there's a very specific like thing that you must do to do that.

[00:16:57] And sometimes that shit is hard.

[00:17:00] Like I've seen people post on Reddit saying it's taken them like 250, 260 hours to cherry all the games in UFO 50.

[00:17:11] God damn, dude.

[00:17:13] I will not be going for all the cherries.

[00:17:15] I have one.

[00:17:16] I have one in my, in my collection and I got a bi accent.

[00:17:20] I didn't even, I didn't try to get it.

[00:17:22] It just happened.

[00:17:24] And some of the other cherries I've, I've looked at the thing.

[00:17:28] And another thing, like in the game selection menu, if you like hit the cancel button, it'll bring up like a little tape, like a little window.

[00:17:37] And it has like your stats, like how long you've played the game.

[00:17:41] It'll tell you like the conditions for beating it, conditions for cherrying it.

[00:17:45] It'll tell you a little blurb about the game as well.

[00:17:49] Like it'll tell you like when it came out and like just like a little fun fact about the game.

[00:17:53] Like it's crazy.

[00:17:55] It's crazy.

[00:17:55] The love that went into this whole package.

[00:17:58] And there's also that cool little garden thing that you can unlock.

[00:18:02] Yeah.

[00:18:02] You can unlock pieces of furniture or like give gifts to the little dude in there.

[00:18:05] That's another thing too, like besides getting a cherry cart, there's also conditions for getting the garden gifts, which I don't, I don't try to get them.

[00:18:15] I could see how this would be wild for completionists.

[00:18:20] Like there's just, I mean, it's kind of crazy that at the beginning of the game, when it loads up and it shows you like the picture of the LX system and the thing underneath it says play forever.

[00:18:33] And I feel like I'm going to be like, I feel like I'm going to be playing UFO 50 for a long ass time because like, you know, I was playing metaphor and I was still off and on just being like, when I needed a break from that, I just throw in a random thing on UFO 50.

[00:18:49] Yeah.

[00:18:51] Yeah.

[00:18:51] And it's like, it's, and it's not like they took basically like, like cloned a game from the eighties or nineties or whatever.

[00:19:00] It's not like they like took those kinds of games and cloned them and just basically like here's Pac-Man again.

[00:19:06] They had, some of these have a lot of, of depth to them.

[00:19:09] Like one of my favorites I'll get to in a little bit or I'll just kind of shout it out.

[00:19:14] No, no, whatever.

[00:19:14] Yeah.

[00:19:15] The game is just even Grimstone.

[00:19:17] You were talking about that earlier.

[00:19:18] There's a lot of depth to that one.

[00:19:20] A lot of cool hidden secrets to it.

[00:19:22] Cause if you look at RPGs back then, like say the original final fantasy or the original dragon quest, they're just like, you know, today to attack, boom.

[00:19:31] Today to do a spell, whoop spell.

[00:19:33] But in Grimstone, there's like, first of all, Oh, I guess games back then kind of had this kind of thing, but you can pick your, you basically put together your party with different characters.

[00:19:45] Like you choose what four out of eight characters, which is fucking nuts.

[00:19:51] Yeah.

[00:19:51] And then the story is just batshit crazy.

[00:19:54] And then there's timed hits.

[00:19:56] There's all sorts of ways to customize characters.

[00:19:59] It's crazy, man.

[00:20:00] The game's all there.

[00:20:01] There's just so much more to them than just hit a, to do whatever, or like push this until it stops.

[00:20:08] There's they, they, they put a lot of time and, and, and work into these games and it's, it's fucking awesome.

[00:20:13] I think this game was supposed to come out in 2018.

[00:20:16] I think they announced it in 2017 and then it was supposed to come out in 2018 or it was like announced in 2018 and then supposed to be out in 2019.

[00:20:25] But yeah, it's been a long time.

[00:20:26] Like I know people that knew about it, knew that Mossmouth was making it, but like didn't really know much about it.

[00:20:35] Just that it was going to be like a collection of 50 games.

[00:20:39] Nice.

[00:20:39] One thing I want to pick your brain on and you know, you, the listener at home.

[00:20:44] Yeah.

[00:20:44] Kind of curious what other people's takes are going to be on this.

[00:20:49] So on how long to beat, you can log each game individually.

[00:20:56] Like every game has its own thing on how long to beat.

[00:21:01] I don't know.

[00:21:02] Let me just double check, but I don't know if UFO 50 itself has.

[00:21:10] Oh yeah, it does.

[00:21:10] It has.

[00:21:12] So UFO 50 itself has a how long to beat page that you can log, which is crazy because it says single player.

[00:21:21] It's either 49 and a half hours to 250 hours.

[00:21:26] God.

[00:21:27] It's all over the place because like the way how long to beat, they usually like categorize it by like single player and then like, you know, what's.

[00:21:37] Oh, main plus story and then like completionist and shit.

[00:21:40] Interesting.

[00:21:41] So all, I didn't realize that how long to beat operated like this.

[00:21:45] So if you go to the UFO 50 page, if you scroll down under additional content, so they've, they've made the page so that all of the games in UFO 50 are kind of like DLC.

[00:22:00] Oh, okay.

[00:22:00] So they're all on the same page.

[00:22:02] That's wild.

[00:22:04] That's wild.

[00:22:04] And it actually tells you all of the stats there for all the games.

[00:22:09] That's great.

[00:22:10] I didn't realize that because I was, because I've been, again, to go back to the, to the question I had for you.

[00:22:16] I have been logging each game that I finished in the collection as a single game.

[00:22:22] I'm not going to finish them all and then go, I beat UFO 50 because to me, that's like saying, yeah, I bought a SNES mini.

[00:22:31] I beat it.

[00:22:33] That's fair, man.

[00:22:35] Like, yeah, you wouldn't do the same thing for, again, Capcom fighting game collection or like Mega Man battle network collection.

[00:22:41] You wouldn't just beat the whole fucking thing and go like, I beat that.

[00:22:45] Yeah.

[00:22:46] Mega Man legacy collection.

[00:22:47] Yeah, man.

[00:22:48] I beat Mega Man legacy collection.

[00:22:49] You mean you beat Mega Man one to six?

[00:22:52] Mega Man.

[00:22:53] Like, that's what it means.

[00:22:55] That's, that's extremely fair, man.

[00:22:57] Yeah.

[00:22:57] That makes, that makes sense.

[00:22:58] So that's kind of how I look at this.

[00:23:00] I don't know if that's how you look at it.

[00:23:03] No, that's, yeah, that's how I look at it too, man.

[00:23:06] I don't know if I've, if I've beaten very many yet, but, uh, I mean, that's how I would do it.

[00:23:12] Yeah.

[00:23:12] Each individual game.

[00:23:13] Also, I don't know how anybody has ever beaten Barbuda.

[00:23:16] Like I, or Barbuda.

[00:23:18] Fuck.

[00:23:18] That game is so fucking cryptic and like.

[00:23:21] So, you know, before, before we get into our top five each, let's just kind of talk about some of the ones that we have, we've had experience with just, just briefly.

[00:23:32] Barbuda can fucking lick my boots, man.

[00:23:35] Cause that thing is so hard.

[00:23:38] It's so fucking difficult.

[00:23:39] And I don't know if you knew this or not.

[00:23:42] Like you pretty much have to like draw a map, like physically draw a map because there is no map.

[00:23:50] Yep.

[00:23:50] And it's, if you die, you start over like from the, from the start, there is no progression.

[00:23:58] I guess the progression is kind of learning.

[00:24:01] You know, it's one of those things where it's like, Oh, I don't actually have to go all the way down here to get this thing because that thing just told me to do this.

[00:24:10] And I could just do that anyway.

[00:24:12] Like there's stuff like that, you know, but I'm very intimidated by Barbuda.

[00:24:19] I don't know when I'm going to actually like sink my teeth into it.

[00:24:23] Plus he walks so slow.

[00:24:25] Yeah.

[00:24:25] He fucking does dude.

[00:24:26] God.

[00:24:27] I walk so slow.

[00:24:28] Like, and then there's no music.

[00:24:30] Like it just has like a low hum whenever you change screens is like, boom.

[00:24:37] Someone on Reddit made a, made a map for the game.

[00:24:41] Yeah.

[00:24:41] That's a lot, dude.

[00:24:42] Holy fuck.

[00:24:44] No, sir.

[00:24:45] Yep.

[00:24:46] Yep.

[00:24:47] Another one I touched on earlier today was moon cat.

[00:24:51] I think, I think that's what it's called.

[00:24:53] Yeah.

[00:24:53] Moon.

[00:24:53] Was that the first time that you threw moon cat on?

[00:24:55] Yeah.

[00:24:56] Did your brain explode?

[00:24:58] Yeah.

[00:24:58] Cause I was trying to move and I was like, what the fuck?

[00:25:01] Like what's happening?

[00:25:02] I thought my controller was fucked up the first time I played.

[00:25:05] I was like unplugging it and plugging it back in.

[00:25:07] And I was like, the fuck?

[00:25:09] I didn't do anything.

[00:25:10] Like I didn't change it.

[00:25:11] I was literally just playing another game.

[00:25:13] Like I didn't do anything.

[00:25:14] Then I was like, wait, let me, hold on.

[00:25:19] Let me look at the controls.

[00:25:20] Cause you can look at the controls.

[00:25:22] Like you can bring up a thing that'll tell you like what the controls are when you pause

[00:25:25] the menu or when you bring up the pause menu.

[00:25:28] And it's like the, like I'm like reading the controls and I'm like, wait, wait, what?

[00:25:34] What the fuck is going on?

[00:25:36] Like all the face buttons are move, right?

[00:25:40] All the D pad buttons.

[00:25:42] Like, I mean, it doesn't matter if you press down, up, left, right.

[00:25:45] They all move you to the left.

[00:25:47] Yep.

[00:25:48] And then if you want to jump, you got to press both of them at the same time.

[00:25:53] Like a D pad or a face button combination.

[00:25:56] It's the craziest shit.

[00:25:57] But it's, it's kind of, it's kind of a cool little brain teaser to like, try to try to

[00:26:03] get through all that shit.

[00:26:04] I don't know, man.

[00:26:06] It's a, it, I feel like I would just, my brain would melt trying to, trying to train myself

[00:26:13] to get used to those controls and try to get all the way through the game.

[00:26:16] It's not long.

[00:26:17] You have to do it in one shot, but the checkpoints are like pretty generous.

[00:26:20] Like you can probably sit down and finish that in an, in about an hour or two.

[00:26:25] I'm not putting an hour into that.

[00:26:26] I'm sorry, dude.

[00:26:28] It like, okay.

[00:26:29] So here's the thing.

[00:26:30] All right.

[00:26:31] Hear me out.

[00:26:32] I said this to you today when we were talking, these games, most of the time have that moment

[00:26:39] where like it clicks and you're like, oh, I get, I get what I need to do.

[00:26:46] Or like, I get the mechanics of this game now, or like I get the point of this game.

[00:26:50] It's crazy that each one of them kind of has that moment when you're like, because there's

[00:26:55] so many that I've thrown on and like, I've seen people raving about certain ones on Reddit

[00:26:59] and I'm like, what's the big deal with this?

[00:27:01] Like, I don't, I don't normally play a game like this and I'm like, oh, wow.

[00:27:04] This is actually amazing.

[00:27:06] Holy shit.

[00:27:08] So I totally think that Mooncat is one of those.

[00:27:13] Yes.

[00:27:13] At first you're like, these controls are real dumb.

[00:27:16] Sit down with it for like 10 minutes.

[00:27:19] And after you like clear a few screens, you'll be like, hold on.

[00:27:24] I think I understand.

[00:27:26] I'm picking up what they're laying down here.

[00:27:28] Okay.

[00:27:29] Okay.

[00:27:29] I'll smell what they're stepping in.

[00:27:31] Yeah.

[00:27:31] Do it.

[00:27:32] It's real good.

[00:27:33] Yeah.

[00:27:33] The smells.

[00:27:34] I recommend that one.

[00:27:35] That's good.

[00:27:36] Okay.

[00:27:36] I have been playing pilot quest for the last two days and I really, really like it.

[00:27:44] Nice.

[00:27:45] However, I'm at the point now where I've literally cleaned up the like, so pilot quest is, it's,

[00:27:55] it's actually a sequel to another game in the collection.

[00:27:58] And the other game is a lot like the original Zelda.

[00:28:01] This one is also a lot like the original Zelda, but with an idle clicker like spin.

[00:28:07] And essentially what you have to do is, you have to get time from managing resources to go explore the overworld.

[00:28:17] And your health is also the time.

[00:28:20] So when you get hit, you lose time.

[00:28:22] Yes.

[00:28:22] Okay.

[00:28:23] And like, you can't go explore unless you have meat.

[00:28:26] You can't get meat unless you build this bitch a fucking house.

[00:28:30] And then like this bitch, then there's also like, like a tree that get like, so you have

[00:28:36] to like farm these like moon shards and a thousand moon shards can get like turned into, or is it a thousand

[00:28:45] or is it like a hundred?

[00:28:46] Yeah.

[00:28:47] I think it's a hundred, a hundred moon shards or something like that gets turned into an ingot.

[00:28:51] And then like you can use that ingot to, to build other structures and stuff.

[00:28:57] Eventually what you ended up realizing is that you have to like, you have to have people building

[00:29:05] while like you're playing.

[00:29:07] And the crazy thing is this is an idle game.

[00:29:10] So when you're out exploring the overworld or even when you're not playing the game, if

[00:29:16] you're playing another UFO 50 game, shit is accumulating, accumulating.

[00:29:21] But once you get done doing the overworld stuff and I'm literally at the point now where like,

[00:29:28] I have to be able to craft my spaceship fuel.

[00:29:33] And it's like a lot.

[00:29:35] It's a lot of ingots and science that I have to craft.

[00:29:40] And like you, you basically like tell these little dudes like, okay, I want you guys working

[00:29:44] on ingots and then I want you guys working on science and you need so much of each to unlock

[00:29:50] one fuel thing.

[00:29:51] And I have to get two.

[00:29:52] And this is the only thing I don't really like about it.

[00:29:54] I'm, I'm literally done the game.

[00:29:56] I just need to let it idle now.

[00:29:58] Yeah.

[00:29:59] That would be fucking annoying.

[00:30:00] So then it makes me wonder, maybe I don't like idle clickers.

[00:30:04] Clickers and stuff like, I like the concept that you need to manage resources and stuff

[00:30:11] and that you're kind of automatically gaining more as you go.

[00:30:15] And that, that the time, your time is your health.

[00:30:19] And dude, there's been some like real clutch moments of being in a dungeon and me like my

[00:30:25] time.

[00:30:26] Oh shit.

[00:30:27] And I'd like have to like boogie out of there.

[00:30:29] Like stop what I'm doing and get the fuck out and just try to get back.

[00:30:34] Cause you have to get back to within the time limit.

[00:30:37] The first few times I threw it on, I was like, this is dumb.

[00:30:39] I can't even, I can barely explore the thing.

[00:30:41] Cause I think you get like one piece of meat at the very beginning of that.

[00:30:45] I think that only gives you like 50 seconds to go out and explore.

[00:30:50] But it's kind of cool.

[00:30:52] Been having a good time with it.

[00:30:53] I would also recommend this one.

[00:30:55] I would actually recommend starting this one first so that you can let it do its thing

[00:31:01] in the background while you're playing the other games.

[00:31:03] Oh yeah.

[00:31:04] That's, that's a good idea.

[00:31:05] Yep.

[00:31:06] Yeah.

[00:31:07] Yeah.

[00:31:08] Yeah.

[00:31:08] What's the first game that you threw on?

[00:31:10] You remember?

[00:31:11] I think I just threw them on in order.

[00:31:13] Yeah.

[00:31:13] So Barbuda was the first one.

[00:31:15] Well, maybe.

[00:31:17] No, I think actually I started a golf game first.

[00:31:20] I forgot which one it was.

[00:31:22] It's not the Zelda golf one.

[00:31:23] It's the, um, ping golf.

[00:31:25] Yeah.

[00:31:26] Yeah.

[00:31:26] That's, oh man, that game's good.

[00:31:28] The two player mode is really fun.

[00:31:31] Yeah.

[00:31:31] That was, that was pretty sweet.

[00:31:32] It's kind of like Kirby's dream course sort of, but like 2d, not like top down.

[00:31:37] Yeah.

[00:31:38] It kind of almost reminds me of, um, of curse to golf a little bit, except not, not a roguelike

[00:31:44] or whatever, but yeah.

[00:31:46] Yeah.

[00:31:46] It's, it's really fun.

[00:31:47] And yeah, definitely at some point check out the two player mode because the two player

[00:31:52] mode is really cool.

[00:31:53] It's like a versus thing.

[00:31:55] If I can get someone to get the fuck down here and play with me, I'll force Cheyenne to

[00:31:59] play ping golf with me.

[00:32:03] Do it.

[00:32:04] She won't regret anything.

[00:32:06] If anything, you should tell her, be like, Hey, do you want to play some ping golf?

[00:32:10] And she's like, no, you'll be like, she's like, what the fuck is that?

[00:32:12] Okay.

[00:32:13] We're playing ping golf.

[00:32:13] Just look her dead in the eye and say, you'll regret this.

[00:32:18] You certainly will not regret playing ping golf with me for three hours.

[00:32:43] Should we, should we get to our top five?

[00:32:45] Yeah.

[00:32:46] Well, I was, I was just going to say, cause I asked you, um, what game was the first one

[00:32:50] that you threw on.

[00:32:51] The first game that I threw on was bug hunter.

[00:32:54] Oh, that's a cool one.

[00:32:56] And I, I was like, I, am I stupid?

[00:33:01] Like, I don't know if I know how this game works.

[00:33:05] And then eventually going back to it, I was like, Oh, had that moment where it clicks.

[00:33:10] And so satisfying when that, when you get that like light bulb moment with a lot of these games.

[00:33:16] Yeah.

[00:33:16] That one reminds me a lot of, uh, into the breach where it's.

[00:33:19] Oh yeah.

[00:33:20] Yeah.

[00:33:20] Yeah.

[00:33:21] It does.

[00:33:21] It's very much like that.

[00:33:22] It's like a strategy puzzle game pretty much.

[00:33:25] Cause you got a, almost kind of like Mega Man battle network in a way too.

[00:33:31] Cause you have like cards for each of your moves and you not exactly like Mega Man battle

[00:33:36] network, but it reminds me of that a little bit, but you move around, play an ability to

[00:33:42] like either move you this way or attack enemies this way.

[00:33:45] And God forbid you miss a fucking egg and then it hatches into a super powerful enemy.

[00:33:51] And then enemies keep fucking evolving and morphing into more powerful forms and holy shit.

[00:33:57] Yeah.

[00:33:57] That's, that's such a, such a good one.

[00:34:00] Well, I think, um, you're dying to tell me what, uh, your, your top five are.

[00:34:07] So lay it on me.

[00:34:09] All right, man.

[00:34:10] I think my, I'm going to start from number five and then we'll end it on number one.

[00:34:16] So number five, I had a tactics.

[00:34:20] Oh, tell me more because I, I've only briefly thrown this on.

[00:34:25] Yeah.

[00:34:26] So, uh, so, so there's two sides, uh, basically like you and the enemy and basically you're,

[00:34:36] your troops keep just like automatically, uh, spawning.

[00:34:42] And then the point of the game is basically just to, uh, to whittle down your enemies,

[00:34:48] your enemies base.

[00:34:49] So on your side, you'll spawn some soldiers and then the enemy side will also keep spawning

[00:34:56] soldiers, but then they give your, your normal soldiers, which are just like sword and shield

[00:35:01] guys.

[00:35:02] Um, occasionally you'll spawn archers, which they'll, they'll attack from a distance instead

[00:35:08] of like the, your normal soldiers.

[00:35:10] They can only attack when they're like face to face with a, with an enemy, with an enemy

[00:35:16] soldier.

[00:35:16] And it's kind of got this like, it's like a, was it one, two, three, four, five, six.

[00:35:22] So there's six rows and you'll, you want basically your units to cross over into the enemy side.

[00:35:29] And then once you're, your soldiers touch the enemy's castle or stronghold or whatever, they'll

[00:35:35] do damage to it.

[00:35:38] And what is it?

[00:35:39] When you have, when you have two or more soldiers in a row, they'll take less damage.

[00:35:47] And of course, yeah, there's, there's also different types of units.

[00:35:50] Like, yeah, the archers, well, they're all attacking a distance.

[00:35:53] There's the guys that ride on horses.

[00:35:55] So they'll move way more spaces in a turn.

[00:35:59] Um, but they'll, I think they take more damage and then there's guys to have like big heavy

[00:36:03] shields that can block arrows, which is great.

[00:36:05] Did you have the, the light bulb moment with this game?

[00:36:08] Fuck yeah, I did.

[00:36:09] Yeah.

[00:36:10] Yeah.

[00:36:10] Like when your, when your eyes like unfocused and you're like, I understand.

[00:36:15] And like, you just start like, it's almost like muscle memory.

[00:36:18] Like you just start like getting into the game, right?

[00:36:21] Yeah.

[00:36:21] It was like a real rain man ass moment.

[00:36:25] Like I forget what, I forget what stage I got to.

[00:36:29] I'm, I got really, really far.

[00:36:32] Um, do you have to beat it in one go?

[00:36:34] No, no, no.

[00:36:35] It'll save after like, after each stage it'll save.

[00:36:38] Yeah.

[00:36:39] So there's only like 10 stages I think.

[00:36:42] And I think I'm on eight.

[00:36:44] I had a check to be sure.

[00:36:45] I'm really close, but it's as fucking hard as nails.

[00:36:49] What?

[00:36:50] Yeah.

[00:36:51] Yeah.

[00:36:51] It's a tactics man.

[00:36:52] It's, it's fucking fun.

[00:36:54] Yep.

[00:36:54] That sounds good.

[00:36:55] Very much a you pick because you like those types of games.

[00:37:00] Yeah.

[00:37:01] Yeah.

[00:37:01] What's your, what's your number five?

[00:37:03] My number five is moon cat.

[00:37:06] I love moon cat.

[00:37:08] I, um, moon.

[00:37:10] So it was funny because I, I threw on moon cat.

[00:37:14] Well, I was waiting for Beth to, to hop on voice chat on discord because we were going

[00:37:20] to, we were going to play something else.

[00:37:23] And we, like, I was already halfway through and then I was like, I don't think the saves.

[00:37:29] So she's like, Oh, well, do you want to just keep playing it?

[00:37:32] And I was like, do you care?

[00:37:34] And she's like, no, I'll check it out.

[00:37:36] And by the end of it, I was just screaming moon cat.

[00:37:40] No.

[00:37:40] Like, cause I was always just like losing control.

[00:37:44] And like, my brain was malfunctioning trying to remember like moon cat.

[00:37:48] You idiot.

[00:37:48] Oh, it was just, we were just both screaming moon cat.

[00:37:51] No.

[00:37:51] And yeah.

[00:37:53] Like she watched me finish that game and that was the first game that it definitely gave

[00:38:03] me that light bulb moment.

[00:38:05] And it's very, that, that moment is so satisfying to me.

[00:38:10] Yeah.

[00:38:11] And it's, it's cool because like you don't like you get that, you know, once or twice in

[00:38:20] a, in a big game, like a full, full fledged game, you'll have like that.

[00:38:25] Okay.

[00:38:25] Now I'm dialed in to like what I like monster hunter when it's like, okay, I'm dialed in

[00:38:31] now.

[00:38:31] I understand what this game wants for me.

[00:38:34] The, and I love that.

[00:38:36] I love that sense of like understanding.

[00:38:38] And it's just very rewarding as a player.

[00:38:42] You get that so many times you get it so many times in this, like, and moon cat was the first

[00:38:48] one.

[00:38:48] So it sticks out to me just being like, oh, I understand the controls now.

[00:38:54] It's the dumbest control scheme, but it makes so much sense now.

[00:38:59] Like it just, I don't know.

[00:39:00] There's something about it.

[00:39:02] And like the platforming and the level design as it progresses, it, it literally like caters

[00:39:08] to how much you're understanding what they want you to do with moon cat.

[00:39:16] That's cool, man.

[00:39:18] It's such, it's a really simple concept, but yeah, they, they literally flipped it the fuck

[00:39:25] over your head with those wonky controls.

[00:39:26] Yeah.

[00:39:27] That's cool though.

[00:39:28] That's a, I like that.

[00:39:29] Uh, it's such a goofy fucking game as your number five though.

[00:39:32] That's, that's awesome, dude.

[00:39:34] Love it.

[00:39:35] Number two or number four.

[00:39:37] Number four.

[00:39:39] This is tough.

[00:39:40] This is really tough.

[00:39:42] Let's do Alphazar's app.

[00:39:44] Ooh, very good.

[00:39:45] Let's do it.

[00:39:45] I did that in co-op start to finish.

[00:39:48] Oh man.

[00:39:49] It was, it was tough.

[00:39:51] It's tough.

[00:39:52] It's so much fucking fun though.

[00:39:53] It's basically like Pocky and Rocky listeners.

[00:39:56] Yeah.

[00:39:57] Yeah.

[00:39:57] So kind of almost like a run and gun game.

[00:40:00] Well, yeah, it's a run and gun game, but instead of being like a side scroller, like

[00:40:04] battle slug or like Contra, it's like it scrolls.

[00:40:09] Yeah.

[00:40:09] Top down enemies.

[00:40:11] You kill will drop tarot cards and you can pick up those cards for you.

[00:40:17] You pick up cards, combine them to make other cool, different power ups.

[00:40:21] You can only hold three, right?

[00:40:22] There's three cards when you're picking them up.

[00:40:25] There's like three slots.

[00:40:27] Yeah.

[00:40:27] And then you can combine cards of the same symbol to make something cool, but there's

[00:40:33] also different combinations you can make with like with different symbols as well.

[00:40:36] So you can make ones where it shoots like a three, three way spread pattern, or you can

[00:40:41] have like a little shield or there's like a, like a wave gun that shoots like a, like

[00:40:46] a crescent that covers like a large area.

[00:40:48] The, uh, uh, you can get bombs that, that you'll drop when you do your little dodge.

[00:40:53] I forgot.

[00:40:54] You can also do a little dodge move.

[00:40:56] The, uh, it does a really cool thing that shock troopers.

[00:41:00] That's a good example.

[00:41:01] It's like shock troopers.

[00:41:02] Cause like when you start firing, when you hold down the fire button, you can still move,

[00:41:07] but you're locked into facing that direction.

[00:41:09] So if you start firing, a lot of the games do that too.

[00:41:12] There's a lot of them that I really like that ship.

[00:41:15] Yeah, I do too.

[00:41:16] I think it's really cool that that game was not easy though.

[00:41:20] No, but it's fucking the one thing that I did find was pretty forgiving is that you

[00:41:29] can just keep going.

[00:41:30] Like there's no like full game over.

[00:41:33] Like when you die, you, you just end up back at the beginning of the last level that you

[00:41:37] were at.

[00:41:38] Yeah.

[00:41:39] Yeah.

[00:41:39] And the, the fucking train level, which is, I think that's just level two.

[00:41:43] That kicked my ass over and over and over because it's not even a long level.

[00:41:47] It's just insane.

[00:41:48] Yeah.

[00:41:48] Cause you're in that small area and there's enemies all around you.

[00:41:52] And if you happen to just fall off the train, oh yeah.

[00:41:56] You lose a life.

[00:41:57] I kept falling off.

[00:41:58] I was bogus, but I like that game a lot.

[00:42:03] Yeah.

[00:42:03] Didn't make my top five though.

[00:42:04] Damn it.

[00:42:06] We're talking like Keanu the rest of the episode.

[00:42:09] Whoa.

[00:42:11] What's your number four, Jerry?

[00:42:13] My number four has got to be Porgy.

[00:42:18] Don't.

[00:42:18] Have you thrown Porgy on yet?

[00:42:21] No.

[00:42:22] Okay.

[00:42:22] You should do that.

[00:42:25] It's pretty tough.

[00:42:26] At first I was like, this is insanely difficult.

[00:42:29] Like essentially the whole gameplay loop is that you're a little submarine and you have to leave your base each time and go down and you have fuel.

[00:42:47] So as you're moving, your fuel is going down.

[00:42:51] Oh.

[00:42:52] When you get hit, your fuel goes down.

[00:42:54] So much the same as I was saying with Pilot Quest where time is also your health.

[00:43:00] Your fuel is also your health in Porgy.

[00:43:04] Your torpedoes are basically shit tier as soon as you start the game.

[00:43:08] Like you can't, you can't, you can barely kill like the smallest little enemies.

[00:43:13] At first I was like, am I not supposed to even be killing things?

[00:43:16] Like I don't even know if these are hitting because like they barely go anywhere.

[00:43:21] And like they're just in front of like just barely in front of your face.

[00:43:25] But the more that you explore, the more that you, because like you'll find like a fuel upgrade and then you've got to bring that back to the, to the, the home base before your fuel runs out.

[00:43:36] And then your fuel expands eventually as you get into the game.

[00:43:42] And this isn't, this one's not short.

[00:43:43] This one's like a six hour long game.

[00:43:45] Um, and it's kind of like a Metroidvania kind of thing going on.

[00:43:50] Cause there's lots of like upgrades and stuff.

[00:43:53] And, um, the more that you get fuel toward the end of the game, like you're just like not worried about traversal for your phone.

[00:44:02] It's more of like your health.

[00:44:04] Like you have so much to spare all the time.

[00:44:06] And then like, there's also torpedo upgrades that make them stronger and shoot further.

[00:44:11] And eventually you do get cooler, like bigger upgrades.

[00:44:16] Like you get these heavy torpedoes that actually do like really good damage, but you can only equip one at, at like when, when you get like a, a full power up, you can only equip one at a time.

[00:44:29] The only way that you can equip more is by killing some of the bosses and like the bosses kind of just randomly spawn in certain areas.

[00:44:39] There's like a huge shark.

[00:44:40] There's a big octopus.

[00:44:41] There's a big eel.

[00:44:43] Like there's all these huge monsters kind of lurking around.

[00:44:46] And at first, and another thing that I like about these, these types of games, it's like, it just seems so utterly impossible to be able to even attempt to attack these things.

[00:44:58] But as you progress more and more, do more dives, go down, find some more stuff, get, find a power up.

[00:45:07] You start to feel power and you're like, okay, I might be able to kill this thing now.

[00:45:14] And then when you kill a boss, if you like, once you kill two bosses, it allows you to equip two upgrades.

[00:45:21] And when you kill another two bosses, you can equip three upgrades.

[00:45:25] And I think you can, you can, you can equip a maximum of four.

[00:45:29] And then, yeah, it's just like, it's a Metroidvania.

[00:45:33] Like you're kind of just going around and you're kind of going from base, diving down, exploring, kind of keeping an eye on your fuel and being like, oh shit, I should probably, I want to get greedy.

[00:45:45] Like usually I would find like a thing, like a fuel upgrade or I'd find like anything.

[00:45:50] And that goes for the upgrades too.

[00:45:52] If you find an upgrade, you don't just get the upgrade.

[00:45:55] You have to bring that upgrade back to the base for it to count.

[00:45:58] So it gets pretty intense when you're like, shit.

[00:46:02] Sometimes you almost need to go on like a suicide mission where like, you're just like, I'm not even going to try to bring something back.

[00:46:11] I just want to see how far I can get.

[00:46:12] And I just want to see what I find.

[00:46:14] And it was just a very, very addicting gameplay loop.

[00:46:17] I finished this last night.

[00:46:18] Okay.

[00:46:19] Hell yeah.

[00:46:20] Yep.

[00:46:21] Real good stuff.

[00:46:22] When you return to base, does it automatically refill your fuel or do you have like a finite amount?

[00:46:27] Nope.

[00:46:28] Once you get back to base, it gives you all your fuel back.

[00:46:31] Okay.

[00:46:32] That's cool.

[00:46:33] Yeah.

[00:46:33] And then it saves the game.

[00:46:34] So the game saves because it would be insane to have to do in one go.

[00:46:38] Yeah.

[00:46:39] A whole six hour run in one sitting.

[00:46:42] Yeah.

[00:46:43] That does sound cool.

[00:46:44] Definitely check that out.

[00:46:45] There's some good Metroidvanias in this collection.

[00:46:48] Yeah.

[00:46:49] You were, you're telling me about one a few weeks ago, but just in case it's one of your

[00:46:54] picks, we'll, we'll skip right past that.

[00:46:56] Having a hard time picking on number three.

[00:46:59] We'll go with over bold.

[00:47:01] Oh, fuck this fucking game.

[00:47:05] It's so, I'm so close.

[00:47:07] I'm so fucking close, dude.

[00:47:09] I can consistently like semi consistently get to that last wave.

[00:47:14] Yeah.

[00:47:15] I got to the last wave like a couple of times and then I'm also really stupid and I'll add

[00:47:21] because, okay.

[00:47:22] So over bold is basically, it's just like a, an arena shooter.

[00:47:27] Smash TV.

[00:47:28] Yeah.

[00:47:30] It does the same thing as like shock troopers and all those games.

[00:47:34] So we're like, you know, you can move in any direction, but once you hold on the fire

[00:47:37] button, it locks your direction and you can still like strafe in that direction and shit.

[00:47:41] But there's a certain number of enemies you have to kill.

[00:47:44] And when you kill those enemies next round.

[00:47:48] And then you get points at the end of the round.

[00:47:51] Yep.

[00:47:52] Yep.

[00:47:52] And then you can like, you can buy upgrades, which will be like more health or your gun

[00:47:57] shoots faster, more bombs, stuff like that.

[00:48:01] But those costs, those are a lot of those costs way more money than you'll get by just doing

[00:48:07] like the standard waves of enemies.

[00:48:09] You could, so you can add more kinds of enemies to get more points and, and kind of do like

[00:48:16] a little risk versus reward kind of thing.

[00:48:18] Like, dude, do I really want to add like six werewolves?

[00:48:21] To the already fucking.

[00:48:23] I can tell you right now, I'll take the werewolves.

[00:48:25] Fuck those goddamn whales.

[00:48:28] Oh, we're like, they, they split apart into the smaller ones.

[00:48:31] Yeah.

[00:48:32] I hate them.

[00:48:33] Those and the, um, the, the, the, like the toucan, the blue toucan robot things.

[00:48:40] Those suck too.

[00:48:43] I hate the fucking pumpkin bombs, dude.

[00:48:45] I hate them so much.

[00:48:46] Every single time I think like I've got the game down and I'm doing really well.

[00:48:50] They'll spawn pumpkin bombs and they'll immediately like fly across the map, like directly to where

[00:48:55] I am and then blow me the fuck up.

[00:48:56] Yeah.

[00:48:56] You gotta, you gotta get those gone like in their corner when they spawn, if you can.

[00:49:01] Yeah.

[00:49:02] Yeah.

[00:49:03] And you only have so much health.

[00:49:04] Like those bombs will take out a pretty decent amount.

[00:49:06] Like when you start off, I think you can just take like one hit, one hit.

[00:49:09] And then you're done, but you can get more.

[00:49:12] And yeah, dude, it's, I think this one's a pretty quick beat too.

[00:49:16] Like once you beat that last wave, it's done.

[00:49:20] That's the thing, right?

[00:49:20] Like it's, it's quick.

[00:49:22] It's quick.

[00:49:23] I mean, if you were insanely good at this game, you could literally pick it up and you

[00:49:28] could beat it.

[00:49:29] You could do all eight of those arenas and beat it in like, I don't know, maybe 20 minutes.

[00:49:36] Yeah.

[00:49:37] I've probably put in a few hours now to this game because it's so addicting and so difficult.

[00:49:45] I will give some props to my buddy Dallo.

[00:49:48] I watched him beat this last, not this past weekend, but the weekend before.

[00:49:54] Cause we like lately for our hangouts, normally we will throw on like a bunch of stuff on

[00:49:58] mister or like some other stuff we're checking out.

[00:50:01] It's just been UFO 50.

[00:50:03] Like we just throw in UFO 50 stuff now and sometimes it's fun to like pass the controller

[00:50:09] back and forth or like there's other games that like, even if one person's playing, like

[00:50:13] you're still as a viewer, like you're still dialed into it.

[00:50:17] Um, but we threw on overbold and I watched him beat that.

[00:50:20] And he said when he finished that last wave, he was like, dude, I'm shaking.

[00:50:25] I was like, really?

[00:50:26] I didn't, cause I didn't play.

[00:50:27] Like I was watching him play it and he was pretty damn good at it.

[00:50:31] Um, but yeah, like I think it was probably like an hour or so of like straight playing

[00:50:38] it, but his, his strategy it's, I love this too.

[00:50:43] His strategy is very different from the one that I'm using.

[00:50:47] The one that works for me is not what he was doing.

[00:50:50] And I'm curious what your, like your thing is.

[00:50:53] Cause like for me, I always go.

[00:50:56] And when you mentioned about like in between the rounds, you get the option to upgrade.

[00:51:01] Like you get like a little shop.

[00:51:03] Sometimes in that shop, you'll have sales or like something will be cheaper or there'll

[00:51:08] be a price hike, which totally fucks you.

[00:51:11] If you're like, okay, after this wave, I'm buying that thing.

[00:51:14] And then you go back to the screen.

[00:51:15] It's like, fuck, it's more expensive now.

[00:51:16] Like shit.

[00:51:18] But for me, I find the, the, the bombs that attract the enemies is like paramount to finishing

[00:51:31] this.

[00:51:32] Agreed.

[00:51:33] It helps so damn much, especially when things start to get really chaotic with like those

[00:51:40] fucking whales.

[00:51:41] Cause like, or the fucking pumpkins, dude.

[00:51:43] I don't find the pumpkins bad.

[00:51:46] And I think part of that is, and I don't know if you buy this upgrade, but it's almost another

[00:51:50] mandatory upgrade for me.

[00:51:51] It's the gunshot that pushes them backward.

[00:51:54] That helps so much because you end up pushing the pumpkins back and they usually blow up and

[00:51:59] hit multiple people.

[00:52:01] Okay.

[00:52:02] I think I usually skipped that one and usually just went for like you shoot more projectiles

[00:52:07] or go with a shotgun or some shit like that.

[00:52:09] Like the spread.

[00:52:09] What do you normally do for your upgrades?

[00:52:13] Like what, what's your, what's your strat been to get to that last wave?

[00:52:18] Usually it's just, yeah, the, the more bombs, bombs that attract enemies.

[00:52:22] And then I'll do the spread shot.

[00:52:25] Cause yeah, the whales can go fuck themselves.

[00:52:27] I get that spread shot so I can take them out for them.

[00:52:29] Yeah.

[00:52:31] And do you, do you bulk up on health?

[00:52:33] I don't believe so.

[00:52:36] Let me, I gotta see what all the upgrades were to make sure.

[00:52:39] There's like health upgrades and then there's like the health drops that drop like the health

[00:52:42] packages.

[00:52:44] Like every, the first tier is like it drops every, I think I want to say like 30 seconds.

[00:52:51] And then I think the second tier is they drop every 15 seconds and then it helps a lot

[00:52:57] in the last fight.

[00:52:59] Okay.

[00:52:59] Even though I can't beat the last fucking fight.

[00:53:02] Oh, oh yeah.

[00:53:03] There's also the kind of stupid one that lets you survive one lava pit or like one or two

[00:53:09] lava pits.

[00:53:10] I always skip that one.

[00:53:11] Yeah.

[00:53:12] Get out of here with that.

[00:53:13] Uh, I've heard a lot of people say good things about the dash.

[00:53:17] Like there's a dash that you can get and like you can literally just dash through enemies.

[00:53:20] But I, I tried a few runs with it and I found it way too risky, especially like when shit

[00:53:27] gets chaotic with those goddamn pumpkins.

[00:53:30] Like when they blow up.

[00:53:32] And also I always make sure that I have both my shields maxed out by the end.

[00:53:37] Yeah.

[00:53:38] So that you can take two hits of explosion and two hits of the projectiles.

[00:53:42] Yep.

[00:53:43] Like, but again, always man, it's insane because we're just talking about one of 50 games and

[00:53:48] there's this much depth in one game.

[00:53:52] It's also the ricochet is really good.

[00:53:54] I like the ricochet too.

[00:53:55] I like to just me up.

[00:53:56] That fucks me up all the time.

[00:53:58] Cause I think it's something else.

[00:53:59] Like, I don't think it's my bullets.

[00:54:01] It's like if you're, if you're on the opposite side of the fucking arena, you just turn and

[00:54:07] face the wall, shoot against the wall and then it'll bounce back and hit the enemies

[00:54:09] behind you and shit.

[00:54:11] It don't, it's, it's awesome, man.

[00:54:13] I go for that ricochet shot every so often.

[00:54:15] It's pretty fun.

[00:54:16] Yeah.

[00:54:17] I'm definitely going to play more.

[00:54:18] I want to, I want to get the gold card in this cause I like, I'm so close, but I always

[00:54:23] panic in that last wave.

[00:54:25] I always fucking panic.

[00:54:26] My heart's always racing and I'm always just like so dialed in and then like some dumb thing

[00:54:33] will kill me.

[00:54:34] And I've gotten to, I've seen, I've had the last boss, like the big guy spawn.

[00:54:39] A few times for me.

[00:54:40] Have you, have you been able to get him to spawn?

[00:54:43] Yeah.

[00:54:43] I've gotten all the way to the, to the boss, like maybe two or three times, but I always,

[00:54:49] I always fuck it up.

[00:54:53] Yeah, I know.

[00:54:54] It's tough.

[00:54:55] It's a tough game.

[00:54:57] It's tough out there for a pimp.

[00:54:59] It's a good pick though.

[00:55:00] It's a very good pick.

[00:55:02] I suppose you want to know what my number three is.

[00:55:05] I do.

[00:55:06] Okay.

[00:55:08] Party house.

[00:55:10] Oh fuck.

[00:55:11] Party house is so good, dude.

[00:55:14] I had no right.

[00:55:15] They had no right.

[00:55:17] So I knew once this game clicked for me, cause it didn't at first, I threw it on because

[00:55:25] I'd seen a few like posts on Reddit and other social media platforms talking about like,

[00:55:30] here's my tier list of the UFO 50 games.

[00:55:33] And almost always party house was like in S tier.

[00:55:37] And I was like, this, this thing really?

[00:55:40] So I like, I threw it on and I was like, I don't, I don't get what I'm supposed to be

[00:55:47] doing here.

[00:55:47] Cause it doesn't really tell you.

[00:55:49] Like it doesn't, it doesn't flat out be like here, like here's what your objective is.

[00:55:55] And I mean, it's pretty simple.

[00:55:57] It's just get the four star rating at a, at a party with the star guest.

[00:56:07] But it's so, it's so in depth and like the mental gymnastics that you end up doing in this

[00:56:15] game.

[00:56:15] It's like, it's essentially a deck builder, I guess, like a roguelike deck builder type

[00:56:22] of thing.

[00:56:23] And again, I don't normally, I don't normally like these types of games, but for whatever

[00:56:28] reason, once it clicked, it was like, oh my God, like this is impossible to put.

[00:56:34] I put, I finished it in one sitting.

[00:56:37] Like I finished all the scenarios.

[00:56:39] God damn.

[00:56:40] Yeah.

[00:56:41] And I really, really, really enjoy it.

[00:56:46] Like I, I've gone back just to play it, just to play like a random scenario.

[00:56:52] Because it's so fun.

[00:56:54] But essentially what you do in this game is you let people in to your party.

[00:57:00] So you click the door and it lets somebody in.

[00:57:04] That somebody is essentially a card.

[00:57:06] It's a randomly picked card.

[00:57:08] And what you're trying to do is you're trying to get your party full so that you can get

[00:57:13] the most out of your, because you can make money or you can make popularity.

[00:57:19] And each kind of card, each person that comes to the party kind of has their own strengths

[00:57:25] and weaknesses.

[00:57:26] But if you have troublemakers, once you hit four of them, then the party gets shut down

[00:57:31] by the fucking cops.

[00:57:33] And it's hilarious.

[00:57:35] The first time that happened, I was like, what the fuck is happening?

[00:57:38] It was like, do do do do do.

[00:57:40] It was just like cops.

[00:57:43] That'd be cool if I played like the bad boys.

[00:57:47] Yeah, it was, it was, it was pretty jarring.

[00:57:50] But yeah, like you end up just hovering over that door and being like, is this it?

[00:57:58] Is this game over or do I get to keep going?

[00:58:01] Because like once you, once you fuck up so many times, it's like, wow, there's no point

[00:58:07] of even going on because I'm never going to be able to get that star guy.

[00:58:11] And essentially what, what happens at the end of each round, you get to a menu where you

[00:58:17] get to buy more cards or more people.

[00:58:23] And there are, there's always star people, people that have like a little star icon.

[00:58:30] What you need to do is you need to have enough of them so that you can spawn and have four

[00:58:35] of them show up at a party.

[00:58:37] And you can also by getting money, upgrade the size of your, of your house for the slots.

[00:58:43] Cause if initially I think you can only draw, I think it's like five or something, five,

[00:58:48] five slots.

[00:58:49] But as you get more money, then you can, you can upgrade the, to have more slots for the

[00:58:55] party.

[00:58:55] And I will say to pro tip, always get that dog.

[00:59:00] Always get the dog.

[00:59:01] Always dude.

[00:59:01] The dog is.

[00:59:02] Sniff out who's at the fucking door.

[00:59:03] The dog is, and also he gives you like, isn't it like three pop or something?

[00:59:07] Like, yeah, he gives, it's like, there's no down downside to the dog.

[00:59:13] Like the dog is, is awesome.

[00:59:14] Does the dog do like negative one troublemaker or does it sniff out who's at the door?

[00:59:19] Am I thinking of something else?

[00:59:20] No, it sniffs out who's at the door.

[00:59:22] The negative one troublemaker is the, I think it's the hippie.

[00:59:25] The hippie.

[00:59:26] Yeah.

[00:59:27] Okay.

[00:59:27] The hippie is pretty useful too.

[00:59:28] In that scenario.

[00:59:30] The thing is, once I finished the first scenario, I was like, whew, all right, I am dialed in.

[00:59:37] Show me what you got game.

[00:59:38] You get to the second scenario and you're like, wait a second.

[00:59:41] Where's all my favorite cards?

[00:59:43] They're fucking gone.

[00:59:44] You got all these new people now that you're like, hold on.

[00:59:48] You got to like rethink your entire fucking existence and like take a moment just to be like, what is the synergy here that I need to get going?

[00:59:57] Like, yeah.

[00:59:58] With the different cards and stuff.

[01:00:01] It's so goddamn good.

[01:00:03] It is, man.

[01:00:04] And also, if you have, just like how, if you have too many troublemakers, the cops get called and it ends your round right there.

[01:00:12] If you have too many people in the house, the fire department or something gets called on you.

[01:00:18] And then I think you get no, yeah, you get nothing.

[01:00:21] No money, no popularity.

[01:00:23] The round just ends and you get nothing.

[01:00:25] So, yeah.

[01:00:27] Yeah.

[01:00:27] You got to really watch how you build your deck too.

[01:00:31] One of the combos I did a lot for the first scenario was, oh, who was it?

[01:00:39] I think it was, there was the guy with the afro who like when you play him, I almost said summons.

[01:00:48] You get to pull, whatever.

[01:00:49] He summons like a random card.

[01:00:51] Come on him.

[01:00:56] Seymour shows up at the party and bring an Anima.

[01:00:59] I'm Seymour Guado.

[01:01:01] I hate him so much.

[01:01:02] It's just, it's so good.

[01:01:04] Yeah, it's totally roguelike deck builder.

[01:01:06] It's really fun.

[01:01:07] I endorse it.

[01:01:08] The roguelike deck builder guy endorses it.

[01:01:11] Yeah.

[01:01:11] I knew as soon as the game clicked for me, I was like, I have to tell Aaron about this.

[01:01:16] And then I was like, wait, I don't even think, at that point you didn't even have the game.

[01:01:21] Like, you didn't have UFO 50 when I was like telling you how good this party house thing was.

[01:01:26] And it wasn't until I was screaming at you and being like, just gotta fucking buy this game.

[01:01:31] I think that was, I think that was the Halloween episode we did, right?

[01:01:35] The spooky game settings.

[01:01:37] That was when you were like yelling at me to get it and I bought it.

[01:01:40] Oh, I think so.

[01:01:42] Yeah.

[01:01:43] Tommy was also telling me about this game.

[01:01:45] The, for sure, the party house.

[01:01:47] He was telling me about, telling me about party house and the, um, the walrus one.

[01:01:51] Oh God.

[01:01:53] Oh my God.

[01:01:54] Did you, have you been able to finish Waldorf's journey?

[01:01:58] No, I don't think I've ever started it.

[01:02:01] It's, man, I was getting so pissed.

[01:02:03] I was spending so much time trying to get it to finish that game.

[01:02:06] And then I like go on Reddit and someone's like, no, I just like one-shotted Waldorf's journey.

[01:02:10] And here's my playtime.

[01:02:12] And it's literally like 42 seconds, like total playtime.

[01:02:15] And they got like, and they, and they got a cherry.

[01:02:19] They just got lucky.

[01:02:20] They just got lucky.

[01:02:21] They just launched him into a fucking oblivion and then just like got lucky, bounced off a

[01:02:27] bunch of shit.

[01:02:28] Like, dude, when you start to get to the very end of that whole thing, chick, it's crazy.

[01:02:36] It gets so wild.

[01:02:37] And like the very last thing that you had to land on is like one little tiny platform.

[01:02:43] But like, you, you know what, how the mechanics work in that game, right?

[01:02:48] No, but you're kind of making a sound like you just launch them in the air and just, so it's

[01:02:53] you have to get them to the top pretty much.

[01:02:55] Or like you aim like where you want to launch him.

[01:02:58] And then like, there's like a meter that like for how, how much you want to launch him.

[01:03:01] Yeah.

[01:03:02] And then he goes flying.

[01:03:03] And then if you hold the, that button again, he like flaps his wings and it's kind of got

[01:03:09] like balloon fight mechanics.

[01:03:10] Like it's kind of like that feel to it, but you have to land on like platforms.

[01:03:16] And if you fall off, then you start at the very beginning again.

[01:03:20] And it, and it tells you your progress as you're going along.

[01:03:24] It'll say like you're 30% there.

[01:03:27] Like it tells you literally like how close you are to finishing it, but it is pretty

[01:03:34] goddamn difficult.

[01:03:36] Now I kind of want to give this fucker a shot.

[01:03:38] This sounds pretty fun.

[01:03:39] That's the thing.

[01:03:40] That's the beauty about this whole collection is that you could start to be like, get tired

[01:03:45] with one thing and just like go back to that menu and be like, let me just pick a random

[01:03:49] thing to throw on here.

[01:03:51] Man.

[01:03:51] So my, uh, my number two was, uh, was party house.

[01:03:57] Oh really?

[01:03:58] Yeah.

[01:04:00] But I guess I'm just going to talk more about the goddamn game.

[01:04:03] Cause there's so many cool, there's goddamn it.

[01:04:07] There's so many.

[01:04:08] How many scenarios have you completed?

[01:04:10] I think for sure.

[01:04:13] The first alien one, you did the alien one, right?

[01:04:16] Yeah.

[01:04:16] That's number one.

[01:04:17] Yeah.

[01:04:17] And then the, like the, the superhero and mermaid one was number two.

[01:04:22] That's pretty tough.

[01:04:23] Yeah.

[01:04:24] I did.

[01:04:24] I did a lot of, um, there, there's the one that's the mascot where it gets like, no,

[01:04:29] you get an extra plus one popularity for every like, uh, popular friend or ordinary friend.

[01:04:34] I forget what the names are.

[01:04:36] And then there's the, um, uh, what the mermaid someone's another random character from your,

[01:04:44] from your deck.

[01:04:46] Yeah.

[01:04:46] I don't like that.

[01:04:47] I would normally stick to one like type of star.

[01:04:53] Like once they started introducing like two different types of star ones, I kind of settled

[01:04:58] in with like one.

[01:04:59] Cause I would, I would work that one with the ones that I like using from, for the deck.

[01:05:06] Yeah.

[01:05:06] I liked, I don't know.

[01:05:08] I like doing the mermaid ones.

[01:05:10] Cause when you do get a mermaid, they'll just like, they'll just fish in just a random

[01:05:16] card from your deck and thin it out.

[01:05:19] Even out there, the chances of you getting another mermaid.

[01:05:21] And then I think it was the fisherman or there was another card where it was just like,

[01:05:27] yeah, grab another deck from your card or another card from your deck.

[01:05:31] And then kind of thinning out even more.

[01:05:33] If that game were on its own for like 10 bucks.

[01:05:37] Did you see that?

[01:05:37] Somebody, somebody actually like 3D printed the game, like has like a, an actual boxed game,

[01:05:44] tabletop game.

[01:05:45] Someone made it.

[01:05:46] I didn't see that.

[01:05:47] That sounds fucking awesome.

[01:05:48] Actually, there's a, I think somebody else is working on another one too for avianos.

[01:05:53] That's that dinosaur like RTS thing.

[01:05:57] Hell yeah.

[01:05:58] That's really cool.

[01:05:59] But yeah, I definitely know that the party house tabletop is like happening.

[01:06:04] It's good.

[01:06:05] Party house is good.

[01:06:06] Party on Wayne.

[01:06:07] Party on Garth.

[01:06:10] My number two is Venger.

[01:06:12] Venger.

[01:06:14] I've heard you say many good things about this one.

[01:06:16] Venger is a straight up Metroidvania game where you shift gravity and you can go from being

[01:06:28] on like a normal 2D plane to on the ceiling by like doing like a double tap, like almost

[01:06:35] like a double jump.

[01:06:35] There is no double jump in the game because you can literally just like, you can hover

[01:06:40] like in, in the middle by just like doing it right.

[01:06:45] And like there, there's parts in the game where you have to do that.

[01:06:49] This game is so, so good.

[01:06:52] Just like, again, the, the light bulb moment of realizing like, okay, like this is actually

[01:07:00] like, um, this is old school Metroid, but with a map and like you get your upgrades.

[01:07:07] It, it even has like, when you're looking at the map, it shows you like, oh, I haven't

[01:07:11] been in that room yet, but I've, I've been in this room and like, oh, there's an item

[01:07:15] in that one.

[01:07:16] So I need to go get that.

[01:07:17] Um, and like you get different upgrades.

[01:07:20] Eventually what, what you do is you can equip, you have like slots.

[01:07:25] You have like, I think it's like your head armor and then like your torso armor and then

[01:07:30] like leg armor.

[01:07:30] And there's different types of power-ups that you can get for each slot, but you can't equip

[01:07:36] more than one thing per body part.

[01:07:39] Okay.

[01:07:40] It tells the game tells you like, Hey, you can do this, but there's going to be negative

[01:07:44] effects.

[01:07:45] So like you can equip two different things to make your gun like crazy strong, but it might

[01:07:50] be like every time you shoot the gun, you take a hit.

[01:07:53] So like event, like I don't want to spoil too much of this, but like eventually you do

[01:07:57] get things that allow for a little bit more freedom of experimenting with combinations of,

[01:08:03] of your, your loadouts.

[01:08:05] Um, and yeah, like there's, there's bosses, there's dude, it's, it's such a good Metroidvania

[01:08:15] that again, it was at this point when I played this game and beat it, that I really started

[01:08:21] to realize just how special this whole collection of games really is because I love a Metroidvania

[01:08:31] like the same way that you love a deck builder.

[01:08:33] I love a Metroidvania.

[01:08:35] There are so goddamn many of them.

[01:08:38] Like you go on steam and it's just like a Metroidvania comes out a day and like, they're

[01:08:44] not all good.

[01:08:45] Some of them are great.

[01:08:46] I mean, you're playing one now you're playing bloodstained.

[01:08:49] Hell yeah.

[01:08:50] But the thing that UFO 50 does and what Mossmouth have been able to accomplish with these games

[01:08:56] is they take a tried and true game or formula and go, all right, now let's fuck it up a bit.

[01:09:04] Let's like throw some fucking Himalayan pink salt on there and just see what happens.

[01:09:09] Maybe it'll shrivel up like a slug or maybe it adds so much taste to it and 90% of the time

[01:09:16] it's adding so much taste that like they become their own games because you can see the DNA

[01:09:22] of like what the game is inspired from.

[01:09:24] But then it's like, but this game is its own game like through and through it's it's there's

[01:09:30] nothing else like a lot of these games.

[01:09:33] Oh, yeah.

[01:09:33] Oh, yeah.

[01:09:34] I hear you, man.

[01:09:35] So I don't I like I want to be able to talk more about Venger and like some of the spoilery

[01:09:40] stuff, but I don't I also don't want to spoil because it's not a terribly long game.

[01:09:44] It's probably like four or five hours and good part of the part of the joy of that game is

[01:09:49] discovering and like figuring things out organically.

[01:09:54] So I don't want to I don't want to say too too much.

[01:09:56] I probably already said too much.

[01:09:58] I've said too much.

[01:09:59] Go on.

[01:10:00] I've said too much.

[01:10:00] Tell me what your number one is.

[01:10:02] Well, before we do our number ones, we still got to do an ad break.

[01:10:04] Holy fuck.

[01:10:05] Let's get out of here.

[01:10:07] All right.

[01:10:07] We'll be right back.

[01:10:22] Let's get a round of applause for the patrons.

[01:10:25] Yeah.

[01:10:26] Thank you so much for supporting the show month after month.

[01:10:29] Each and every one of you.

[01:10:30] Thank you so much.

[01:10:31] I really, really greatly appreciate it.

[01:10:34] Let's let's thank him.

[01:10:35] A Novel Console, Jared Schrader, Jameson Empire, Adam Phineas, Trey, President, Lieutenant

[01:10:51] Thank you all so much once more for supporting the show.

[01:10:54] It means so much to me.

[01:12:25] Hey Jerry, you know when you're out and about, you're out at the mall, out at the old cheesesteak

[01:12:33] factory.

[01:12:34] That's right, cheesesteak factory.

[01:12:36] Cheesesteak factory?

[01:12:37] Yeah, dude.

[01:12:38] Milk steak factory?

[01:12:39] Milk steak factory.

[01:12:41] You're out and about, you're getting that itch, you're like, I really, really need to,

[01:12:44] you know, touch my Peter.

[01:12:47] And, uh...

[01:12:48] Like my brother or like...

[01:12:51] No.

[01:12:53] No, you're wang, man.

[01:12:55] My wang?

[01:12:56] Genitals.

[01:12:58] My thang.

[01:12:59] Your thang, yeah.

[01:13:00] My swamp thang.

[01:13:01] So you're out and about and you're like, man, I could really go for yanking my crank.

[01:13:06] So out of your pocket, you pull out the inflatable masturbatorium.

[01:13:10] You, uh, just, you unfold it.

[01:13:13] It's, it's folded very, like, into a tiny little, like, cube that you can fit into your

[01:13:17] pocket.

[01:13:18] Uh, but you, it's got a cool carrying case.

[01:13:20] So it's like a capsule from Capsule Corp?

[01:13:25] Way cooler.

[01:13:26] It's like an AirPod case, but you open it up and you take out your little cube and then

[01:13:30] you just unfold it.

[01:13:32] Like, uh, like reverse origami or unfolding it.

[01:13:34] And then you blow into it a couple times and then, boom, it's got...

[01:13:38] That makes sense because the slogan is cooler, compacter, and cummier.

[01:13:47] Yeah, so, so you blow it up.

[01:13:49] It's basically just like a bouncy castle, but way more curtains because, you know, you

[01:13:53] don't want people watching you while you whack it, dude.

[01:13:55] Or maybe you do.

[01:13:56] Maybe you do.

[01:13:57] Maybe you open those curtains down.

[01:13:59] Maybe take that top off.

[01:14:03] So you hop on in, you bounce around a little bit, get yourself all ready to go.

[01:14:08] Uh, there's, there's a little, little dispenser for like lotion or something.

[01:14:11] Just, and then...

[01:14:13] Or you can just, you can just raw dog it.

[01:14:15] I mean, you just...

[01:14:16] You could.

[01:14:17] You could just wake up and choose violence that day.

[01:14:20] You could.

[01:14:22] It's your hog.

[01:14:23] Use it when you need it.

[01:14:24] Oh, that's the slogan.

[01:14:27] Oh, man.

[01:14:29] No.

[01:14:30] They, the, the note that we have in front of us says cooler, compacter, and cummier.

[01:14:34] But I feel like we could probably make a better slogan.

[01:14:38] That's true.

[01:14:38] And all we'll do, we'll do what the sponsor wanted us to do.

[01:14:41] It should have been your hog, your rules.

[01:14:45] Your rules.

[01:14:47] And rules as a Zed.

[01:14:51] Now, I will say this though.

[01:14:52] It does come with a little flap on the outside that tells, like, you can flip it.

[01:14:57] And it says, like, it's basically like a do not disturb because these things look really cool and fun.

[01:15:03] And I mean, if you're just throwing down, you know, an inflatable masturbatorium in the middle of, like, church service because you're, like, tired.

[01:15:11] You know, you're tired of keeping it tight for Jesus.

[01:15:14] There's a built-in hose on the side.

[01:15:16] You definitely need to flip that do not disturb over because it's got a little water pump going.

[01:15:19] You want kids being like, a jumpy castle.

[01:15:21] And then you can spray it on down.

[01:15:23] Get all the, get all the spooge out of there.

[01:15:25] Just spray it on down.

[01:15:25] There's so much semen bouncing around.

[01:15:29] They didn't meet, they didn't have to make, they didn't have to make this thing like a jumpy castle.

[01:15:34] No.

[01:15:34] As a matter of fact, I don't know if I've ever, like, you know, cranked down and jumped around a lot.

[01:15:39] But I feel like it would be good.

[01:15:41] It wouldn't be a Super Pod ad if we didn't have the DLC to go along with this.

[01:15:45] Yeah, dude.

[01:15:46] So, yeah, you hose it down.

[01:15:49] And then if you want to, you can, it's machine washable.

[01:15:52] So you toss it in the, after you've fucked it, you, like, flatten it, fold it up.

[01:15:56] You can toss it into your dishwasher.

[01:15:57] You fucked it, Mike.

[01:15:58] Yeah, fold it up, yeah.

[01:16:00] Fold it and fuck it.

[01:16:02] But, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:16:03] You hose it down and then you're all done.

[01:16:04] Then when it's dried, you just fold it back up, put it in your AirPod case and off you go.

[01:16:10] What else do they have for DLC?

[01:16:12] I think that was it.

[01:16:13] I think, I don't know if there needs to be much more DLC.

[01:16:18] Like, I mean, you could always, you could always invest.

[01:16:22] They do have, like, upgrade packages where, like, you can literally strap on, like, these extra arms.

[01:16:28] Like, you know how Goro was in Mortal Kombat?

[01:16:31] Like, you just get two extra arms.

[01:16:32] And it's just, like, you're fucking holding onto your shit with four hands.

[01:16:38] I mean, I don't need four hands, but some people might.

[01:16:42] You know, some people might have to.

[01:16:44] And look, we're not going to kink shame.

[01:16:46] But I definitely don't need the, I definitely do not need the expansion for the Goro strap.

[01:16:54] Oh, my God, man.

[01:16:58] Thank you for sponsoring our show.

[01:16:59] Thank you, Goro.

[01:17:19] Dude, we're so back.

[01:17:21] Thank you.

[01:17:36] Okay, my number one, Avianos.

[01:17:40] Really now?

[01:17:42] Yeah, man.

[01:17:43] Did you not care for Avianos?

[01:17:45] I love Avianos.

[01:17:46] I just kind of wasn't expecting that to be your number one.

[01:17:50] Yeah, yeah.

[01:17:51] Like, I was expecting to get really into, like, Grimstone.

[01:17:55] And there's another RPG that I touched on very briefly.

[01:17:59] And then there's Divers.

[01:18:01] And there's a bunch of really cool RPGs.

[01:18:03] Yeah.

[01:18:03] But Avianos, dude, that game fucking hooked me.

[01:18:08] Like...

[01:18:08] It's so good.

[01:18:09] It's a 4x5 grid.

[01:18:11] Like, the maps are randomly generated.

[01:18:14] So there'll be, like, mountains here.

[01:18:16] Like, bones here.

[01:18:18] You have a castle here.

[01:18:20] Yeah.

[01:18:21] And different types of tiles give you different resources.

[01:18:24] Like, bones give you bones, which we'll use for spells.

[01:18:28] Mountains give you, I think, rocks or, like, workers or something.

[01:18:32] And, yeah.

[01:18:33] Yeah, there's different resources that you collect.

[01:18:35] And from your starting point, your little castle, you can expand to another tile.

[01:18:42] Like, another adjacent tile.

[01:18:44] And, of course, collect more resources.

[01:18:46] You can build different buildings there.

[01:18:49] Like, there's, like, shrines that give you more worshippers.

[01:18:53] There's trees that give you more food and all sorts of shit.

[01:18:56] And each turn, you can pray to a different god.

[01:18:59] Put different benefits.

[01:19:00] Like, the Tyrannosaurus guy.

[01:19:02] Pretty much more, like, offense with him, right?

[01:19:04] Because doesn't he, like, build more armies and stuff?

[01:19:08] I think so.

[01:19:08] Yeah, you recruit more.

[01:19:10] There's one of them that I, like, barely ever used.

[01:19:13] I think it was the fucking Brontosaurus.

[01:19:15] I guess it depends on your strat.

[01:19:17] Because, like, that's, again, this game is deep with strategy.

[01:19:20] Like, there's a lot of different ways that you can play it.

[01:19:23] Beth actually watched me play this from start to finish.

[01:19:26] Or, no.

[01:19:27] She came in after I had just completed the first scenario.

[01:19:31] And then, yeah.

[01:19:32] Like, she was watching.

[01:19:33] And, again, this is one of those games that I said.

[01:19:36] You know how I said that if you're playing with a friend, whether that's, I mean, her and I live very far away from each other.

[01:19:43] Yeah.

[01:19:44] But even if it's somebody in the same room as you, you can still enjoy playing these games with a friend even if you're not playing.

[01:19:50] Because you're, like, she was kind of being like, oh, okay.

[01:19:53] This is what we do.

[01:19:54] Here's the move.

[01:19:55] Do that.

[01:19:56] Then this.

[01:19:57] Then.

[01:19:57] And, like, we're both just, like, planning out strategies.

[01:20:03] Gives you a choice of, like, I think it's, like, two or three gods to pray to.

[01:20:09] And then, yeah.

[01:20:10] It gives you that.

[01:20:11] It gives you that choice of, like, okay.

[01:20:13] Do I want to hunker down?

[01:20:15] Gather resources?

[01:20:17] Recruit more troops and build this and that?

[01:20:20] Or do I want to take the offensive and, you know, move over here?

[01:20:24] Attack the enemy?

[01:20:26] Take their resources?

[01:20:27] Because the goal of any given stage is to just claim.

[01:20:33] Or no.

[01:20:34] No.

[01:20:34] We have to hold four castles.

[01:20:36] Hold four towers or whatever for, like, what is it?

[01:20:40] Two or three turns and you win?

[01:20:42] Yeah.

[01:20:44] But, yeah.

[01:20:44] Sounds easier than it is.

[01:20:46] Oh, my God.

[01:20:47] I had one fucking round that went for, like, an hour and a half.

[01:20:51] Because it was torture.

[01:20:54] It was fucking torture.

[01:20:55] I ended up winning, of course.

[01:20:57] Thank fuck.

[01:20:57] But, yeah.

[01:20:58] Did you come?

[01:20:59] Have you got the gold card in this game?

[01:21:01] Did you beat this?

[01:21:02] I don't think so.

[01:21:03] No.

[01:21:04] I think just four.

[01:21:05] Like, there's the initial scenario and then there's, I think, three after that.

[01:21:09] Yeah.

[01:21:09] I'm on the third and it's just so fucking brutal.

[01:21:16] Yeah.

[01:21:17] It gets pretty tough.

[01:21:19] And, yeah.

[01:21:20] There's so much fucking depth to it, man.

[01:21:23] Because, yeah.

[01:21:24] At any given point, like I mentioned earlier, you just hunker down, gather resources, attack,

[01:21:30] kill the enemy.

[01:21:31] And the combat is just so fucking weird.

[01:21:33] Because you'll just see, like, this swarm of little red dinos ganging up on, like, two

[01:21:38] or three pteranodons.

[01:21:40] And then it'll be like, you win.

[01:21:41] And then, but it's, yeah.

[01:21:45] Yeah.

[01:21:46] Watching the battles happen, it's kind of like watching, like, a fight in real time.

[01:21:51] Because you're just like, go, go, go, team.

[01:21:53] I know.

[01:21:54] I believe in you.

[01:21:55] And, like, it's funny because one of the, on the last scenario, Beth and I were like, okay,

[01:22:03] we're going to make a sacrificial scout.

[01:22:05] This, this little, this little guy, he's just going to be the guy that goes and just

[01:22:11] explores.

[01:22:12] He's probably going to die.

[01:22:14] He lived.

[01:22:16] He was the last one standing at the end.

[01:22:18] Like, he won.

[01:22:19] And, like, we now have, like, this inside joke of, like, the scout.

[01:22:24] The scout was the savior.

[01:22:26] Like, we won the last scenario because of the scout that we sent out to die.

[01:22:31] That's good, man.

[01:22:31] Oh, that's another thing, too.

[01:22:33] There's so many different types of units that you can, or types of soldiers or troops,

[01:22:41] whatever the fuck.

[01:22:42] Because, like, there's just the regular soldiers.

[01:22:44] There's the pteranodons, like, the little bombers.

[01:22:46] There's the mages that cast spells.

[01:22:49] There's the archers, the heavy armor dudes.

[01:22:51] There's all sorts of shit.

[01:22:52] You can upgrade those each turn.

[01:22:54] You can cast spells to do different shit.

[01:22:56] Like, freeze your enemies at a specific tile or, like, reveal a certain tile so you can see, like, oh, shit.

[01:23:04] There's, like, 90 enemy dudes here.

[01:23:06] Not going there.

[01:23:08] Yeah.

[01:23:08] Yeah.

[01:23:09] That became, like, essential in the last couple of, like, especially in the last couple.

[01:23:16] Like, you really need to, like, know your enemy.

[01:23:20] Like, you got to know what you're working with because you don't want to just send one little mage group against, like, a full army of dudes.

[01:23:30] One thing I did like, though, like, when, and it's so hilarious just when you stumble upon, like, a massive arm and you're like, well, I guess these guys are dead.

[01:23:42] Like, they just kind of trudging in and then you just see them get picked off by, like, the arrows.

[01:23:47] It's like, boop, boop, boop.

[01:23:48] They're dead.

[01:23:49] They run in and it's like, da-da-da-da.

[01:23:52] They're running in and then you, like, you see how many enemies there actually are.

[01:23:55] It's like, nope, retreat, retreat.

[01:23:56] And they're like, they make a fucking U-turn.

[01:23:58] They're like, no, I don't think so.

[01:24:02] I really liked when you could upgrade, like, the certain dino gods.

[01:24:08] Yeah.

[01:24:08] Like, their special ability.

[01:24:10] The one where you could just, like, cast fucking lightning and kill, like, a full square.

[01:24:16] Fucking Stegosaurus guy.

[01:24:17] That was OP as shit.

[01:24:18] Yep.

[01:24:19] That was, like, my go-to.

[01:24:21] I was fucking shit up with that.

[01:24:24] Yeah, there was the pterodactyl god.

[01:24:27] I didn't really care for her at first.

[01:24:28] I think it's Ketzel.

[01:24:29] Yeah, Ketzel.

[01:24:30] I'm looking at it right now.

[01:24:31] I didn't care for her at first.

[01:24:33] But she's actually pretty fucking good.

[01:24:35] Like, she's...

[01:24:36] Her muster ability just upgrades your troops at a tile.

[01:24:42] And then you can move...

[01:24:45] If you upgrade them, I don't know.

[01:24:47] Yeah, you can move a tile, which you can go attack an enemy.

[01:24:50] And then what's the last one again?

[01:24:52] Trade.

[01:24:52] You can just trade for resources and shit.

[01:24:54] I hated that bitch at first.

[01:24:56] I never used her.

[01:24:56] But she's actually really, really, really good.

[01:25:00] Hell yeah.

[01:25:01] Yeah, man.

[01:25:02] It's good.

[01:25:02] I really like Avianos.

[01:25:04] I was gonna put it in my list.

[01:25:06] But then some of the other ones kind of pushed it out.

[01:25:10] It was more so Porgy, I think.

[01:25:12] Because Porgy, I...

[01:25:14] And that's the thing.

[01:25:15] I've thrown on a lot of these games.

[01:25:18] But I've nowhere near scratched the surface of, like, playing, playing a lot of these.

[01:25:23] Like, I've barely played Grimstone.

[01:25:26] And Porgy, I was sleeping on forever.

[01:25:30] I just didn't...

[01:25:32] Like, the first couple times I played, I was like, let's try something else.

[01:25:35] Yeah.

[01:25:36] And it's never, like, a thing where I'm like, oh, this game's bad.

[01:25:39] It's more of just, like, not right now.

[01:25:41] Let me...

[01:25:42] Let me...

[01:25:42] I'm in the mood for something else.

[01:25:44] Yeah.

[01:25:44] Because there's, like, always something to be in the mood for.

[01:25:47] Yeah.

[01:25:47] There's racing, shmups, puzzles, RPGs.

[01:25:51] There's fucking everything on this except for, like...

[01:25:53] Literally everything.

[01:25:54] Except for gambling, I guess.

[01:25:55] There's no slot machines.

[01:25:56] There's crack cocaine.

[01:25:57] Sure is gambling.

[01:25:58] Overbold is gambling.

[01:25:59] That's true.

[01:26:01] That's true.

[01:26:01] And it is crack cocaine also.

[01:26:03] Also, hold on.

[01:26:05] Have you not played Quibble Race yet?

[01:26:07] I don't think so.

[01:26:09] Quibble Race is just gambling.

[01:26:12] Like, there is gambling.

[01:26:14] Quibble Race, you're literally just gambling on...

[01:26:18] Oh my god, it's so funny too.

[01:26:19] Like, in Quibble Race, all you do is you bet on, like, these little racer dudes.

[01:26:27] Oh my god.

[01:26:28] These little quibbles.

[01:26:29] You just bet on them.

[01:26:30] And then you can, like...

[01:26:32] You could pay...

[01:26:33] Like, you could, like, go on the menu and be like, all right.

[01:26:36] I want to pay to break that Quibble's legs for the next race.

[01:26:42] Fuck.

[01:26:42] Or you could, like...

[01:26:43] You could, like, give your Quibble a bunch of steroids.

[01:26:46] So the next race, they're like, yeah!

[01:26:49] Like, they just rip through the race.

[01:26:50] But then afterwards, they, like...

[01:26:52] If you give them too much steroids, they'll just, like, die on the racetrack.

[01:26:57] Fuck.

[01:26:57] I need to play this one then.

[01:26:58] God damn it.

[01:26:59] I would love to watch you play this.

[01:27:01] Because it is hilarious.

[01:27:04] We need to just...

[01:27:04] Like, it is fucking hilarious.

[01:27:07] We need to just stream some of this shit, man.

[01:27:09] Yes.

[01:27:10] Yes, we should.

[01:27:11] Yes, we do.

[01:27:12] Yes.

[01:27:13] Jerry, what's your number one?

[01:27:15] Before I get into my number one, I would be remiss if I did not mention the metagame.

[01:27:22] Do you know about the metagame?

[01:27:26] I mean, I've just...

[01:27:27] I've read the little, like, development snippets that, uh...

[01:27:30] When you read the little cards on games, they'll say, like, little bits about, like, oh, Gregory Milk made this and this and this and this and this and all that.

[01:27:40] Okay.

[01:27:40] Okay.

[01:27:41] I'm going to throw this out there.

[01:27:42] This is going to be a spoiler alert.

[01:27:45] Okay?

[01:27:46] Go for it.

[01:27:46] I don't want to spoil it for anybody that wants to kind of happen upon this organically, but this is mind-blowing.

[01:27:54] Spoiler alert starts now.

[01:27:56] When I say metagame, I don't mean, like, the lore.

[01:28:00] I mean, there's another game hidden inside this game.

[01:28:04] There's 51 games.

[01:28:07] And the way you get to this game is through the terminal.

[01:28:12] Have you noticed in the pause menu that there's a terminal where you can input shit?

[01:28:16] Yeah, I've dicked with it a little bit.

[01:28:17] I've even typed in, like, play forever and tried to see if that was a code, but...

[01:28:21] So it's funny because the thing that you just said is the starting code.

[01:28:28] Greg Milk.

[01:28:30] Oh, holy shit.

[01:28:31] Okay.

[01:28:32] Because I seen that in the description of my number one game.

[01:28:37] And I was like, hey, that fits in the terminal.

[01:28:40] And I popped it in.

[01:28:41] I was like, get the fuck out of here.

[01:28:43] What is this shit?

[01:28:44] And it basically comes up and says, like, oh, you found my little riddle.

[01:28:48] Okay, well, in that case...

[01:28:51] Or, no, wait.

[01:28:52] Hold on.

[01:28:52] Before it does that, when you type in Greg Milk, it just shows you, like, a pattern.

[01:28:57] And I was like, the fuck does that mean?

[01:29:01] Again, I'm going to spoil it for you, Aaron, which kind of sucks.

[01:29:04] Go for it, dude.

[01:29:07] That pattern is literally your game screen of the 50 games.

[01:29:11] And then there's one with an X on it.

[01:29:13] You go to that game, which is Mini and Max, and there's a little door that you go in through, like, very early in the game that has the symbol that's on the terminal.

[01:29:25] When you open up the terminal in that room, it tells you, like, okay, you're on to something.

[01:29:31] Now I want you to find this thing.

[01:29:33] And it'll give you, like, some ambiguous-ass thing that now you have to look for in one of the games.

[01:29:38] And then open the terminal when you see that thing or the thing happens.

[01:29:43] And eventually you get a code that looks like it glitches out the whole fucking UFO 50 game.

[01:29:50] Holy shit.

[01:29:50] And then you're playing a game about the development of the game.

[01:29:56] Yeah.

[01:29:56] That's cool as fuck.

[01:29:58] Uh-huh.

[01:29:58] Yeah.

[01:29:59] I feel like you needed to know this.

[01:30:02] Because I feel like some people play this game and never, never know this.

[01:30:08] Yep.

[01:30:09] Honestly, like, with just how high quality the game on its own is, they totally didn't need to do any of that.

[01:30:18] Like, you totally don't even need to know or do any of this metagame shit.

[01:30:22] But it's really, really, really cool they have this kind of thing in there.

[01:30:25] Yep.

[01:30:25] Really cool.

[01:30:26] And again, if you want to just play that metagame, because it's kind of, like, in three chapters almost.

[01:30:34] Like, because you'll find, like, so many clues.

[01:30:38] And then eventually you do get brought into the game.

[01:30:41] And then once you get so far in it, then it kicks you back out to the game selection screen.

[01:30:47] But it gives you a clue as to what your next clue is.

[01:30:51] So then once you find that next one, then you're kind of, like, on another, like, trail.

[01:30:55] And then you get another code that brings you into, like, the second part of it and so on and so forth.

[01:31:00] But it's really fucked up.

[01:31:03] It's not what you would think.

[01:31:07] It's, like, messed up, man.

[01:31:10] Yes.

[01:31:11] And it's, dude, it's so crazy.

[01:31:14] And, yeah, so go do that.

[01:31:17] But you can literally find a guide if you want.

[01:31:19] Because halfway through, I was like, I'm never going to be able to find, like, all these codes.

[01:31:25] I'm never going to be able to find them all.

[01:31:27] Because, like, sometimes I feel like you would have had to have played some games, like, pretty extensively.

[01:31:33] Oh, yeah.

[01:31:33] To know, like, certain things.

[01:31:35] Like, when to bring up the terminal.

[01:31:37] Or, like, it could be, like, a while into a game before you actually do bring up a terminal.

[01:31:43] But, yeah, go try that out.

[01:31:45] Go throw that Greg milk in the terminal and go down that rabbit hole.

[01:31:48] I guarantee you're going to have a blast with it.

[01:31:52] So, and spoilers, my number one pick, which led me to the metagame, is Knight Manor.

[01:31:59] Is that the point-and-click one?

[01:32:01] That's the point-and-click horror game.

[01:32:03] It's about four hours long.

[01:32:05] I don't like point-and-click adventure games, Aaron.

[01:32:08] I don't.

[01:32:09] Or at least I thought I didn't.

[01:32:11] And then I played this.

[01:32:14] And I could not put this down.

[01:32:16] Again, just so happened, Beth watched me play this one.

[01:32:20] This one she's seen start to finish.

[01:32:22] Like, we literally sat down on a whim.

[01:32:24] Was like, hey, let's hang out on voice chat.

[01:32:26] And I'm going to throw on some UFO 50 you can watch.

[01:32:30] And we got so fucking into this.

[01:32:32] And it's a very pixel-like style, you know, NES-looking game.

[01:32:40] And it's in like first person.

[01:32:43] And it's a point-and-click.

[01:32:45] And you're kind of like trapped in this mansion.

[01:32:49] And you're slowly figuring things out.

[01:32:52] One thing I will say, it's scary as fuck.

[01:32:56] For a UFO.

[01:32:58] That's crazy.

[01:33:00] It's actually really fucking creepy.

[01:33:03] Like, I got jump-scared several times in this game.

[01:33:09] It is very creepy.

[01:33:12] And, again, it's one of those things where, like, it's just lightbulb moment one after the other.

[01:33:19] Where you're just like, oh, we got this thing now.

[01:33:21] We can bring it back to that room.

[01:33:22] Because that room has that thing that we can pop this thing into.

[01:33:25] Fucking pull up the inflatable masturbatorium.

[01:33:28] And then we can fucking finish the game.

[01:33:30] Like, it's so, so good at doing those things.

[01:33:35] Where, like, and it's like, it's a bite-sized game, you know?

[01:33:38] I mean, it's not, four hours is not that long, really.

[01:33:41] But, like, man.

[01:33:44] I just, I couldn't put it down.

[01:33:46] This is definitely another one.

[01:33:47] I do not really want to spoil much of this.

[01:33:49] Yeah.

[01:33:50] Because, again, a lot of the satisfaction is figuring out what things do.

[01:33:55] I will say, you don't need to beat this in one run.

[01:34:00] This one saves.

[01:34:02] And it is pretty forgiving.

[01:34:04] When you die, you end up back at the first room.

[01:34:07] But you don't lose any progression.

[01:34:10] Absolutely check this out.

[01:34:12] Like, check this game out soon.

[01:34:15] I'm gonna.

[01:34:17] Throw it on.

[01:34:18] Get your wife to watch.

[01:34:19] Get her to, like.

[01:34:21] Because, like, I feel like anybody who's watching this will be like, oh, could you use that on that thing?

[01:34:26] Like, it's totally, like, a cool, puzzly experience.

[01:34:31] Like an escape room, almost.

[01:34:33] Escape room?

[01:34:34] That's fucking sweet.

[01:34:35] But it is scary.

[01:34:37] Like, disclaimer.

[01:34:39] If you don't like jump scares and you're, like, going into UFO 50 being, like, just a bunch of little retro games, you're gonna get jump scared in this.

[01:34:47] Yeah, I'm looking at a screenshot of the game that I found on Google.

[01:34:51] And it's just this gross, bubbly corpse in a bathtub.

[01:34:55] And it's, it's like one of the first things you see.

[01:34:58] The description just says the mummified corpse is, uh, is covered in.

[01:35:03] I already closed the tab, but it said it's covered in, like, mold and fungi or something like that.

[01:35:08] It looks fucking grotesque.

[01:35:10] That's awesome.

[01:35:10] There's a fucking story, too, that's going on.

[01:35:13] Like, you're kind of unraveling, like, reading notes and, like, finding little things.

[01:35:18] And, like, there's a story that's unraveling that's really fucking cool.

[01:35:23] It's so good.

[01:35:25] Dude, hell yeah.

[01:35:26] To conclude this little conversation, and I feel like, I feel like we need to revisit UFO 50 again.

[01:35:35] Like, I feel like a top five for now is kind of a good starting point.

[01:35:40] Yeah.

[01:35:40] I would like to eventually circle back when we both have, like, or more so you.

[01:35:45] You need to get a couple of those gold carts under your belt.

[01:35:48] Once you get a few of those, I'd like to circle back and, like, compare, like, which ones we've beat, which ones, like, we're having trouble with, just to kind of, like, see where we're at.

[01:35:58] But I really did not think in a year where Shadow of the Urge Tree, Astro Bot, and Metaphor came out that neither of those would be holding a candle to a game like UFO 50.

[01:36:15] Because, like, I am very seriously, like, debating on picking UFO 50 for my game of the year.

[01:36:24] Like, it's very close.

[01:36:27] Wholeheartedly agree, man.

[01:36:29] Like, SteamWorld Heist 2 was good.

[01:36:33] Bellatro was good.

[01:36:34] Fucking Unicorn Overlord is good.

[01:36:37] But UFO 50, dude, like, I...

[01:36:39] You know what's funny?

[01:36:40] All those games that you just said, all those types of games are in UFO 50 at some capacity.

[01:36:47] That's true.

[01:36:48] Bellatro Party House.

[01:36:50] Yep.

[01:36:50] SteamWorld Heist.

[01:36:52] Rail Heist.

[01:36:53] I don't know if you threw on Rail Heist yet.

[01:36:55] That's also...

[01:36:56] It's very similar.

[01:36:58] Very, very similar.

[01:36:59] Yep.

[01:37:00] And then what was the last thing you said?

[01:37:01] Unicorn Overlord.

[01:37:03] Yeah, that could be Avianos or...

[01:37:05] Avianos or Tactics.

[01:37:06] Yep.

[01:37:06] Any one of those, like, kind of strategy things.

[01:37:10] It's crazy.

[01:37:11] That's true.

[01:37:11] It's fucking insane, dude.

[01:37:12] Like, whatever game it is that you like, it's in this.

[01:37:16] There is...

[01:37:17] It is in here somewhere.

[01:37:18] Whether that's some dumbass game where you're shooting a fucking walrus in space and hoping for the best.

[01:37:26] Or if you just want to hop into a little fish submarine and explore the depths.

[01:37:33] Or if you want to just have, like, an idle clicker thing that's crossed with Zelda.

[01:37:38] Like, a lot of these things shouldn't work, but they do.

[01:37:42] They do so well.

[01:37:44] And this is not the last time you're going to hear us talking about UFO 50.

[01:37:48] Yeah.

[01:37:49] Yeah, we definitely...

[01:37:49] You can't see it, but I have a gun against Aaron's head right now.

[01:37:51] We definitely do need to revisit this in about maybe a couple months.

[01:38:04] It's time for...

[01:38:05] Random...

[01:38:10] I do have a recommended game.

[01:38:11] Okay.

[01:38:12] So, it was brought to my attention that there is yet another ROM hack that demands my attention.

[01:38:19] Oh, okay.

[01:38:21] And I threw it on today for the first time, and it is blowing my mind.

[01:38:27] That is The Legend of Zelda Ultimate Trial.

[01:38:31] It is a ROM hack of Ocarina of Time.

[01:38:35] It is completely, from the ground up, a fully original game.

[01:38:41] Like, it is not...

[01:38:42] They're not reusing maps.

[01:38:44] Nuh-uh.

[01:38:45] It's fully original.

[01:38:46] The whole thing...

[01:38:47] The premise is that Link is stuck in, like, this crazy abyss somewhere in the Lost Woods.

[01:38:56] And he needs to push forward to get out.

[01:38:59] And in this kind of land of the abyss that he's in, he's forgotten everything.

[01:39:06] He's forgotten his courage.

[01:39:07] He's forgotten his wisdom.

[01:39:09] He's forgotten, like, everything.

[01:39:10] So, it's kind of like setting it up to be like, oh, this is a roguelike.

[01:39:16] And that's exactly what it is.

[01:39:17] Oh, shit.

[01:39:17] It's basically Hades.

[01:39:18] It's like Hades.

[01:39:20] There's a hub world that you're in.

[01:39:23] And there's, like, all these NPCs.

[01:39:26] Some of them, like, you interact and they just, like, chat.

[01:39:28] Some of them sell stuff.

[01:39:29] Some of them give you quests.

[01:39:31] Like, stuff that's like, hey, come back and talk to me after you've killed 50 monsters and I'll give you something.

[01:39:36] And then, like, there's these trials that you go into and they're run-based.

[01:39:42] So, like, I haven't been able to beat the first one yet.

[01:39:46] And I know it's, I think it's 20 rooms.

[01:39:48] So, essentially, it's like, you go in, you start, it's like, boom.

[01:39:52] Okay, you're in one room.

[01:39:53] There's, like, three of, like, the plant monsters.

[01:39:57] Okay, you kill all them.

[01:39:58] Door unlocks.

[01:39:59] Go to the next room.

[01:40:00] And that's what it is.

[01:40:03] But, again, you start off with three hearts and you only have your sword, your shield.

[01:40:08] You are adult link.

[01:40:10] And you have your boomerang.

[01:40:12] They give you the boomerang.

[01:40:14] But, like, you don't realize how fucking difficult it is when you have to fight, like, one of those lizard men.

[01:40:23] Lizalfos or whatever they're called.

[01:40:25] Like, well, actually, that's a bad example because they're actually not that bad.

[01:40:29] You just wait for them to hit your shield and then you stab them.

[01:40:31] But, like, there's other enemies that can become a problem when you don't have the right stuff.

[01:40:37] And then, like, rupees that you get from your runs, they are a constant.

[01:40:43] Like, they remain.

[01:40:44] That's good.

[01:40:44] You don't lose them.

[01:40:46] And when you get back to the hub world, you can buy shit.

[01:40:48] Like, you can buy permanent upgrades with the rupees.

[01:40:50] So, there's a very solid progression that's happening.

[01:40:55] And I love that in a roguelike.

[01:40:56] I do not like roguelikes where typically I don't like them when you have to, like, start over from the very beginning.

[01:41:01] Yeah.

[01:41:01] Um, there's a few exceptions in UFO 50.

[01:41:05] But this game is so crazy.

[01:41:09] Like, if you throw this on, you'll be like, like, this is wild.

[01:41:14] Like, this is a completely different game.

[01:41:16] It's not just Ocarina of Time with, like, a new dungeon.

[01:41:21] It's, like, it's a full-ass game that's been completely made from the ground up.

[01:41:26] Hell yeah.

[01:41:27] And what's it called?

[01:41:28] Go check that out any way you can.

[01:41:29] It's called The Legend of Zelda Ultimate Trial.

[01:41:32] You can find that over at CD Romance.

[01:41:34] Ultimate Trial.

[01:41:35] Hell yeah.

[01:41:36] That's where I got it anyways.

[01:41:38] It's already, like, ready to go.

[01:41:40] Just load that up in your favorite emulator or on the Mr. or whatever you want.

[01:41:46] You could play this on real hardware if you have an EverDrive.

[01:41:53] Like, you can literally load this up on real N64 hardware.

[01:41:57] Oh, and it's got retro achievements too.

[01:41:59] There you go.

[01:42:01] Bam.

[01:42:02] That's fucking sweet.

[01:42:04] Yeah.

[01:42:05] Speaking of sweet, my random recommended game is one that's got its fucking disgusting, bloody, grubby hooks in me.

[01:42:11] Dude, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.

[01:42:13] Let's have it.

[01:42:13] Oh, shit, man.

[01:42:15] So, I bought this game on sale, like, forever ago for, I think it was like five bucks because I had some, I had some, what the fuck?

[01:42:28] I had some Microsoft account credit or Xbox account credit, whatever the fuck.

[01:42:31] Anyway, so, I had the game for a while.

[01:42:33] Decided on a whim to just install it and play it.

[01:42:36] And, dude, like, I love Symphony of the Night.

[01:42:40] And I love Aria of Sorrow.

[01:42:42] And this game is just, like, the best parts of both of those.

[01:42:46] Just, if they, if they, if they, really?

[01:42:48] Yeah.

[01:42:49] Like, if they mashed together and made a baby, it'd be Bloodstained, dude.

[01:42:54] So, it's got the, just the wicked, fucking cool, dark, dreary atmosphere of, like, Symphony of the Night.

[01:43:04] Then it's got, and it's got, like, all the exploration.

[01:43:08] Like, you can go in pretty much any direction and explore.

[01:43:12] Of course, to, to, to, what's the word?

[01:43:15] Like, you can explore, but to a, to a degree, there's places that you can't because you'll need a certain upgrade.

[01:43:20] Like, a double jump or the, uh.

[01:43:22] Ooh, I love that shit.

[01:43:24] I love, like, upgrade gating.

[01:43:26] Yeah, dude.

[01:43:27] You'll get, you need a double jump.

[01:43:30] You'll get the ability to swim.

[01:43:32] Which is, whatever.

[01:43:33] But, yeah, yeah.

[01:43:35] And there's also, um, have you ever played Castlevania Aria of Sorrow?

[01:43:39] Or Dawn of Sorrow?

[01:43:40] So.

[01:43:40] Yep.

[01:43:41] Yeah, and those ones, when you beat enemies, you gain certain abilities you can equip.

[01:43:45] Bloodstained has that, but it does it, it completely twists.

[01:43:51] Yeah, can't you mishmash, like, crazy shit together?

[01:43:54] Make, like, absolutely insane stuff?

[01:43:56] Yeah, dude.

[01:43:57] Like, there's, there's all sorts of different kinds of abilities.

[01:43:59] Like, there's the red shards where, um, it'll cast, like, a spell or you'll throw a weapon out, like, uh, like an axe.

[01:44:06] Or you can summon, like, a little frog.

[01:44:08] Or all sorts of cool shit.

[01:44:11] There's the yellow ones, which are, like, passive boosts or passive abilities, I should say.

[01:44:16] Because there's ones that'll increase, like, your strength, your intelligence.

[01:44:19] There's ones that'll reveal secret doors when you get near a wall.

[01:44:23] Oh, it's another good one.

[01:44:25] I forget.

[01:44:26] Yep.

[01:44:26] There's also, there's, there's also, I think, the green shards, which give you a familiar, and there's only, like, maybe a handful of familiars that you can find.

[01:44:37] But just like, like, Aria, or not, um, holy fuck, just like, uh, Symphony of the Night.

[01:44:43] I believe in you.

[01:44:44] A lot of them are just, like, Symphony of the Night.

[01:44:46] Like, there's the, the sword.

[01:44:48] There's the, the fairy thing.

[01:44:50] There's also this, like, book that'll, it doesn't attack very often, but it'll give you, like, a passive strength boost.

[01:44:56] There, my favorite is the, the Silver Knight.

[01:44:58] It's basically just this, like, floating knight with a spear that'll occasionally, like, block attacks that get to you.

[01:45:05] It'll poke away at enemies and jab them to death.

[01:45:07] It'll do this cool, like, Pillars of Light spell that just annihilates everything on screen.

[01:45:13] Oh, my God.

[01:45:14] There's so many cool fucking abilities.

[01:45:16] And there's also, there's also, like, spells that you can aim around and push the right trigger and you'll launch, like, a fireball.

[01:45:24] Or you'll launch, uh, like, lightning that tracks an enemy down.

[01:45:29] And, oh, my God.

[01:45:30] It's just, it's so much fun, man.

[01:45:32] The map is huge.

[01:45:33] There's all sorts of different places you can go to once you get, like, uh, once you get different key items.

[01:45:40] It's just, it's good, man.

[01:45:43] It's such a good game.

[01:45:44] I've been sleeping on this game for so long.

[01:45:46] Like, I don't know why I haven't played it, but I've been sleeping on it.

[01:45:52] I will say, though, I have played the 8-bit ones.

[01:45:55] Oh, those are good, too.

[01:45:56] Yeah.

[01:45:56] They're very good.

[01:45:57] The second one is crazy because it has co-op.

[01:46:02] I, I know, I, I'm pretty sure I own the first one.

[01:46:04] I've never played the second one before.

[01:46:05] I need to get on that.

[01:46:07] Yeah, they're, they're excellent.

[01:46:09] Both of those games are really good.

[01:46:10] They're, they're not so much like the, the Symphony of the Night formula.

[01:46:15] They're more like classic Castlevania.

[01:46:17] Yeah, like the stage by stage, linear progression kind of thing.

[01:46:21] Hot take.

[01:46:22] That's my favorite kind of Castlevania.

[01:46:24] Now, I do, I love Symphony of the Night.

[01:46:26] Yeah.

[01:46:26] And I love those Game Boy Advance ones.

[01:46:28] I haven't played very much of the DS ones.

[01:46:31] Um, I know that's kind of a crime.

[01:46:33] And then I, is it, which one is it on DS that everybody raves about?

[01:46:38] Uh, probably, probably Dawn of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin.

[01:46:43] Yeah, yeah, maybe it's Portrait of Ruin, yeah.

[01:46:46] Yeah.

[01:46:46] But, yeah, I, I do like those, but my favorite Castlevania is like the, the standard, like

[01:46:53] level, level-based one.

[01:46:55] My favorite one of all time, Shocker, is Super Castlevania IV.

[01:46:59] Dude, not a hot take at all, man.

[01:47:02] I think my favorite, like 2D classic Castlevania is Rondo of Blood.

[01:47:06] That's, yeah, that one, have you, have you played like the, the actual TurboGrafx CD version

[01:47:14] of that?

[01:47:15] I sure have.

[01:47:16] With like the crazy like cut scenes and like fucking crazy music.

[01:47:19] Oh, dude.

[01:47:21] Yeah, the, it's so good.

[01:47:23] I, uh, what is it?

[01:47:25] I think I got like the English, the English translation patch and everything for it.

[01:47:29] And, and yeah, the, the music is fucking, like just the first fucking stage.

[01:47:35] The music is just a full-on guitar solo.

[01:47:37] We all know you.

[01:47:38] And then it starts going into bloody tears or whatever.

[01:47:41] That one for Genesis is good too.

[01:47:43] Oh, Bloodlines.

[01:47:44] Bloodlines?

[01:47:45] Yep.

[01:47:45] Yeah, that's really good.

[01:47:46] That has blood.

[01:47:47] It has actual blood in it.

[01:47:49] Yep.

[01:47:50] It's good, man.

[01:47:51] Yep.

[01:47:51] Everybody go play Bloodstained.

[01:47:52] God damn it.

[01:47:52] It's, it's probably cheap by now.

[01:47:54] And it's great.

[01:47:59] You can cook, you can cook in that fucking game.

[01:48:02] Jesus Christ.

[01:48:03] You can craft weapons.

[01:48:04] Enemies will drop, uh, materials that you can use to craft shit.

[01:48:07] Just go play Bloodstained.
