Ep. 121 - Retro FromSoftware Games Are Weird and Cool (ft. Treeky)
Download MP3[00:00:00] Look at this, like, I took this really zoomed, so my wife and I had an anniversary dinner at this train, this like dinner train thing, and I took this really zoomed in photo of like three crows across the street. I was like, Cheyenne, look!
[00:00:13] Look at this! What did Aaron show you on his podcast today? Oh, just like, three crows?
[00:00:19] We're gonna talk about crows the entire pocket episode.
[00:00:22] Oh my god!
[00:00:23] Caw-caw!
[00:00:24] We'll do crow noises at each other, it'll be perfection, dude, it'll be perfection.
[00:00:28] We should just make up our own crow language, and then we'll try to teach it to other crows, because then they can mimic it back to us, and then we'll have this own like, crow society?
[00:00:38] That is?
[00:00:38] Crow society?
[00:00:39] Crow society sounds perfect.
[00:00:41] Crow society.
[00:00:43] I'm a Swedish plumber, I'm here to fix your pipes! That's good, that's a good accent.
[00:00:47] What adoo everybody, it's me, Aaron. We smoking Sequoia Banshee Boogers up in here, and let's do Pod Saga.
[00:00:56] You wanna know something crazy? I fucking love Mega Man, but I've only played Mega Man Legends.
[00:01:12] But I like the 2D Mega Man games, I like them!
[00:01:16] But you've never played them before.
[00:01:17] Well no, I've seen it.
[00:01:20] But...
[00:01:22] But I like what I see!
[00:01:24] That's the same thing as...
[00:01:26] It's like saying, dude, like, I've seen someone do crack, I've never done crack, but I've seen someone do it, but it looks awesome.
[00:01:35] I've never done it, it looks awesome.
[00:01:38] Are you equating Mega Man, the 2D version, to crack?
[00:01:43] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:01:44] To hard crack cocaine?
[00:01:46] Dude, like...
[00:01:47] That's wild.
[00:01:47] Once you start playing Mega Man X, you won't wanna stop, like, days will pass as if...
[00:01:53] I'm a big fucking liar.
[00:01:55] You have played Mega Man X?
[00:01:56] I played Mega Man Zero.
[00:01:57] I played Mega Man Zero.
[00:01:58] Ooh!
[00:01:58] Those are good too!
[00:02:00] Yep, yep, I have played...
[00:02:01] I mean, I don't think I beat it, but I played it.
[00:02:03] I just remembered, because I have one for the Game Boy Advance, and you said X, and it, like, I don't know what happened.
[00:02:07] It was like X, then zero.
[00:02:09] Made the connection.
[00:02:11] But...
[00:02:11] Much the same.
[00:02:12] That's why, hey, listen, now I can say I like it.
[00:02:15] I like what I see, because I played a little bit of it.
[00:02:19] Backtracking.
[00:02:21] Hey everybody, it's Super Pod Saga!
[00:02:25] Welcome back once more.
[00:02:26] Take off your shoes, stay a while.
[00:02:28] Please don't track mud in here.
[00:02:29] I just cleaned those floors.
[00:02:32] Yeah, it's the second greatest collaboration of all time.
[00:02:34] Normally, Jerry and I are on a quest to talk about every video game topic in existence.
[00:02:38] One week at a time.
[00:02:39] Step by step, day by day.
[00:02:41] Today we're talking about Retro FromSoft.
[00:02:44] With a very special guest.
[00:02:46] But first, yeah, Jerry is still down and out.
[00:02:49] He had that procedure.
[00:02:50] He's doing well.
[00:02:51] He's recovering.
[00:02:52] He'll be back in...
[00:02:52] Probably next week.
[00:02:53] Week after that, I want to say.
[00:02:55] But...
[00:02:56] Let's introduce the guest!
[00:02:58] Brand new to Super Pod Saga.
[00:03:00] Long time listener.
[00:03:02] Oh shit, okay, yeah.
[00:03:03] First time...
[00:03:05] First time joiner.
[00:03:09] First time...
[00:03:10] I almost said first time crack smoker.
[00:03:12] I don't want to like...
[00:03:14] It always goes back to the crack with you, huh?
[00:03:17] It does.
[00:03:17] It's the first thing that always pops into my head.
[00:03:19] If I hop on the blue sky, I'll be like, what can I tweet about crack today?
[00:03:23] Or sorry, what can I blue about crack...
[00:03:25] Blue...
[00:03:25] What can I sky about crack today?
[00:03:27] I don't know what they call them.
[00:03:28] What can you sky about crack?
[00:03:30] It's a me!
[00:03:31] A Treaky!
[00:03:34] That's not why I didn't prepare that.
[00:03:35] It just came out.
[00:03:36] That's beautiful.
[00:03:37] It's staying in.
[00:03:38] That's me.
[00:03:38] I mean, I've been listening to Phil Collins all day.
[00:03:41] So I'm like kind of hyped up on goofballs right now.
[00:03:44] Phil Collins.
[00:03:46] And don't ask me what album I was listening to because it was the Tarzan soundtrack.
[00:03:50] I was going to say, I hope it's the Tarzan soundtrack.
[00:03:55] And it's been two weeks I've been doing that now.
[00:03:59] Nice, man.
[00:04:00] Dude, I don't know what's wrong with me.
[00:04:02] I never know what's wrong with me.
[00:04:05] I mean, I spout shit all the time.
[00:04:07] Oh yeah.
[00:04:08] I...
[00:04:08] So, before the recording...
[00:04:10] Well, I guess while we were still...
[00:04:11] Whatever.
[00:04:12] We were talking about Master Duel.
[00:04:13] This just popped into my tiny lizard brain.
[00:04:17] I have this really goofy, wonky deck.
[00:04:20] It's a mix of like mutants...
[00:04:21] I don't know why I really enunciated that T.
[00:04:24] Mutants?
[00:04:25] Mutants?
[00:04:26] Mutant and Thunder Dragon.
[00:04:27] And it's so fun.
[00:04:30] But it bricks so easily.
[00:04:32] We're not talking about Yu-Gi-Oh right now though.
[00:04:34] I just had to get that out of there.
[00:04:35] Okay.
[00:04:35] You can cut that out and you can send me the deck list later.
[00:04:40] Oh man.
[00:04:41] Yes.
[00:04:41] Hello, Treaky.
[00:04:42] Your real name is Riley, right?
[00:04:45] That's me.
[00:04:46] Spelled with a Y, not an I.
[00:04:48] Nice, nice.
[00:04:49] I'm Aaron.
[00:04:50] Two A's.
[00:04:52] A-A-R-O-N.
[00:04:52] A lot of people try to spell the girl way.
[00:04:54] E-R-I-N.
[00:04:56] What?
[00:04:56] Don't do that.
[00:04:57] Oh!
[00:04:58] No, yeah, you're right.
[00:04:59] Sorry, I didn't even...
[00:05:00] Yeah.
[00:05:01] E...
[00:05:03] You can cut that out, right?
[00:05:05] Yeah, don't worry.
[00:05:06] I'll cut some stuff out.
[00:05:07] I don't care.
[00:05:09] I have verbal dyslexia.
[00:05:10] So literally, I will like try to say something and it just will not come out the proper way.
[00:05:15] And you got to keep me in all of my whole...
[00:05:17] Like you got to keep me real and humbled.
[00:05:19] It can't be perfect.
[00:05:21] I think you can put a teleprompter up too.
[00:05:23] That'd be cool.
[00:05:23] Oh no, it doesn't help.
[00:05:25] That's for premium.
[00:05:25] God damn it.
[00:05:26] It also doesn't help.
[00:05:28] I will mess it up if I read it, it will make it worse.
[00:05:33] Damn it.
[00:05:33] That's funny.
[00:05:35] Well man, for the listeners, if they've never heard of you before, go ahead and introduce
[00:05:40] yourself.
[00:05:41] Plug all your stuff that you do, whatever you got, plug away.
[00:05:44] I also just...
[00:05:45] I was cooking...
[00:05:47] We did breakfast for dinner earlier and I was cooking bacon and my hand is just burnt
[00:05:51] to shit from the bacon grease.
[00:05:52] I smacked it on my desk early and it hurts like a bitch, but...
[00:05:56] Dude, you're just abusing it.
[00:05:57] I am.
[00:05:58] You're just abusing it.
[00:05:58] That hand needs abuse, maybe.
[00:06:01] I need to lotion it up later.
[00:06:03] Yeah, I got to lotion it up later, baby.
[00:06:06] I'm...
[00:06:06] Yeah, I'm tricky.
[00:06:07] You can...
[00:06:08] Where can't you find me?
[00:06:09] I'm a YouTuber, I guess, is what you could call me.
[00:06:13] I'm a content creator.
[00:06:14] I make game reviews in the style of...
[00:06:18] I got that 2010 YouTuber stank on it.
[00:06:22] And kind of like a mix between...
[00:06:26] I want to say JonTron, but I feel like it is very JonTron-ish, ABGN.
[00:06:32] Just your classic game YouTubers, except I'm not as angry.
[00:06:36] And way less poop jokes.
[00:06:38] And way less poop jokes.
[00:06:40] Although I have made a few.
[00:06:43] That's fine, man.
[00:06:44] And was called out on it.
[00:06:45] Someone said, stop making poop jokes.
[00:06:47] And I said, okay.
[00:06:48] I get one guy a lot.
[00:06:49] I get one guy a lot.
[00:06:51] I don't know.
[00:06:52] I feel like every ABGN episode, he's like, diarrhea, diarrhea, diarrhea, like 15 times in a row.
[00:06:59] And then people are just...
[00:07:00] They're like, yeah, that's Adam's family on NES for you or something.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:05] He's like, oh, it fell out of a cow's butthole and landed on my face.
[00:07:10] Or I don't know.
[00:07:11] I don't know ABGN stuff.
[00:07:12] He just said...
[00:07:13] But you're right.
[00:07:13] He does talk a lot about cows and poop.
[00:07:15] It's...
[00:07:16] It's wild.
[00:07:17] But, um...
[00:07:19] But yeah, that's...
[00:07:20] I'm a YouTuber.
[00:07:21] I also do stream.
[00:07:22] I stream on the channel, but also I do stream on Twitch once a week, every Monday, 6 p.m. AST,
[00:07:33] which is a real time zone.
[00:07:35] It's like an hour after EST.
[00:07:38] And then, you know, you can follow me on Twitter, Blue Sky Hat Treaky.
[00:07:41] That's it.
[00:07:42] Those are the only places you can really find me, I guess.
[00:07:45] I like that you started it with like, where can't you find me?
[00:07:49] And then you're like, I'm going to do it.
[00:07:50] I have Instagram.
[00:07:51] No, you're right.
[00:07:51] I have an Instagram as well.
[00:07:53] But that makes my hairs in my eyes.
[00:07:55] So, of course, this is happening now.
[00:07:56] But I have Instagram and I think it's just Treaky.
[00:08:00] You'll know.
[00:08:00] Because every time you go to one of my socials, I've got the same stupid dumb smile on every
[00:08:06] single one of them.
[00:08:08] With the...
[00:08:10] The SMT4, like, you background.
[00:08:15] Yeah.
[00:08:15] Oh, it's the Persona 4 main protagonist.
[00:08:19] I'm sorry.
[00:08:20] Persona 4.
[00:08:21] I don't know what the fuck his name is.
[00:08:22] I always name my characters Poop.
[00:08:23] Yeah, his name is Poop.
[00:08:24] Every single time it's Poop.
[00:08:25] Oh, it is named you?
[00:08:26] Yeah, his name is you.
[00:08:28] Like, why you?
[00:08:29] Oh, shit.
[00:08:29] Okay.
[00:08:30] You something.
[00:08:31] That was like, I made that video.
[00:08:32] I made a video about it.
[00:08:34] It was like a very early video.
[00:08:37] And I loved it so much.
[00:08:38] That's the game that got me back into RPGs.
[00:08:41] Oh, shit.
[00:08:41] Yeah.
[00:08:42] Like, I hated RPGs for a long time.
[00:08:44] I played like all the old ones.
[00:08:46] I like, like, Fancy seven.
[00:08:49] That's the only one I can remember right now.
[00:08:51] But I played a bunch of old ones.
[00:08:54] And then I was like, you know what?
[00:08:56] RPGs suck.
[00:08:57] Because it's just a big time sink.
[00:09:00] And I hate them.
[00:09:01] And then I got out of school.
[00:09:05] And I just one day when I moved in my first apartment with my girlfriend, I was like, you
[00:09:10] know what?
[00:09:10] I'm going to give us some or I'm going to give Persona for a try.
[00:09:12] And then I did.
[00:09:13] And I fell in love.
[00:09:14] I was like, holy shit.
[00:09:15] Like, this is amazing.
[00:09:16] And you know what game came directly after that?
[00:09:19] Yakuza seven.
[00:09:20] Nice.
[00:09:21] Nice.
[00:09:21] And then and then I started playing and then I played Dragon Quest.
[00:09:24] I played through all the Final Fantasy games.
[00:09:28] Before you any further, what's your favorite Final Fantasy?
[00:09:33] So, OK, this is a fucking loaded question.
[00:09:36] Thank you for making me answer this, Aaron.
[00:09:38] You're welcome.
[00:09:39] I like Final Fantasy one a lot.
[00:09:41] OK, that's good.
[00:09:42] Very.
[00:09:42] And people say I'm wrong for that.
[00:09:45] No, obviously, Final Fantasy seven was my favorite, but that's very vanilla.
[00:09:50] Not really.
[00:09:51] It's a good game.
[00:09:52] People is a good game.
[00:09:53] People give it a lot of flack for being like the basic bitch answer, but it's genuinely
[00:09:57] good.
[00:09:58] I know.
[00:09:58] So I'm saying like Resident Evil four is my favorite Resident Evil game and everyone's
[00:10:01] like, it's awesome.
[00:10:03] It's a fun game.
[00:10:05] But like, I also love the other ones just as much as just.
[00:10:08] But anyway, Final Fantasy one, I think is my favorite because when I played Final Fantasy
[00:10:11] one, I play it and I just go, man, this is it.
[00:10:14] This is fantasy to me.
[00:10:16] And like, this is a fantasy RPG.
[00:10:18] And I also I'm like, I love old games.
[00:10:20] If you're like, I wouldn't play the earlier ones because like, you know, they're kind of
[00:10:23] and I'm like, no, give me the first one.
[00:10:25] Let me play it because I'll guarantee you I'll enjoy it.
[00:10:28] I don't think I've ever picked up an SNES and NES game.
[00:10:31] Any of those type of games and been like, this is shit.
[00:10:34] I just love old games.
[00:10:36] I just love the magic of them.
[00:10:38] You know?
[00:10:39] Hell yeah.
[00:10:39] Yeah, you ran at home here, man.
[00:10:41] And there's the others.
[00:10:42] Nothing wrong.
[00:10:43] Listeners, there's nothing wrong with liking older RPGs because there's like I was I was
[00:10:48] mess or not messaging.
[00:10:49] I was tweeting back and forth, I guess.
[00:10:52] Sorry, bluing someone back and forth.
[00:10:54] That sounds gross.
[00:10:55] I was I was just I had a conversation going to somebody on blue sky.
[00:11:00] I forget what the fuck their their handle is because the handles are like 80 million characters
[00:11:04] long.
[00:11:04] Yep.
[00:11:06] And we were talking about Final Fantasy one.
[00:11:08] They were playing like the PSP remake.
[00:11:10] Yeah.
[00:11:10] And they were like, dude, this game is just it's just so good.
[00:11:12] Like, yeah.
[00:11:13] Like older RPG.
[00:11:14] There's something so like simple comforting and and just like delicious for lack of term
[00:11:22] about like a just a simple turn based RPG.
[00:11:24] No frills, no fucking gotcha garbage or like whatever.
[00:11:30] Yeah.
[00:11:30] And something I really appreciate about it is when I got it and I was talking to people,
[00:11:37] my friend who's a big fan, fancy guys, you're going to need a guide for it.
[00:11:40] I didn't need a guide because I talked to everybody.
[00:11:42] Yep.
[00:11:43] And they would tell me where to go.
[00:11:44] And I was I was sitting there and I was like, people get lost in older games.
[00:11:47] I can 100% understand if you're like streaming.
[00:11:50] Final Fantasy one and you're talking to chat and you're like just running around, you're
[00:11:54] like, where the hell do I go?
[00:11:55] Like, where do I go, guys?
[00:11:56] That makes so much sense.
[00:11:57] But if you're sitting in like I was sitting about the Fon fancy collection.
[00:12:02] And I was sitting on the couch with my switch and I was playing it and I was like.
[00:12:08] Like, this isn't hard.
[00:12:10] You can just talk to people that just tell you where to go.
[00:12:12] It's so it's like, why are people so upset about this?
[00:12:14] That was like the big thing everyone was telling me.
[00:12:16] They're like, you're going to need a guide.
[00:12:17] I didn't need a guide.
[00:12:18] I didn't use a guide.
[00:12:19] Yeah.
[00:12:19] Same thing for like whenever I talk to other people about Shin Megami Tensei four, which
[00:12:25] we've just discovered that we both really love.
[00:12:27] It's both our favorite in the series.
[00:12:29] Yep.
[00:12:29] A lot of people really hate the world map and how confusing it can be because like they don't
[00:12:33] tell you exactly where to go.
[00:12:34] But like you just talk to people like they'll tell you, hey, man, go to.
[00:12:38] Ikebukuro.
[00:12:39] It's yonder.
[00:12:41] And you'll come into like a fucking blockade and they'll be like, nope, don't go there.
[00:12:46] Basically, like just talk to NPCs and you can find your way there.
[00:12:50] It's not that hard.
[00:12:51] Yeah, literally.
[00:12:52] And like, I remember they're like, yeah, there's like a.
[00:12:55] A selkie or whatever the horses, you know, the horse with the.
[00:12:58] Yep.
[00:12:59] Yep.
[00:13:00] So they're like, yeah, go go to this portion and then there'll be one of those there and
[00:13:04] talk to that thing.
[00:13:05] And then I did that and then it's like, hey, do you want to cross the river?
[00:13:08] And I'm like, yes.
[00:13:09] And then I'm pretty sure he just took my money.
[00:13:13] But something was going on over there.
[00:13:15] So it's I don't know.
[00:13:17] I feel like gaming has changed a lot in the fact that like.
[00:13:21] Especially if you're live streaming and stuff.
[00:13:23] And you're trying to keep entertaining and you're talking to chat and you're not paying
[00:13:27] attention.
[00:13:28] JRPGs are probably the worst thing you could play.
[00:13:32] In my opinion, I think it's good if like you are very focused and not talking to chat.
[00:13:36] But like I see too many people play RPGs and then they just running around in circles and
[00:13:43] they don't know what they're doing.
[00:13:44] And I'm like, if you were at home by yourself, that wouldn't happen.
[00:13:50] I feel that dude.
[00:13:52] Sometimes I'll get really distracted by my phone to like my phone will go off.
[00:13:55] Oh, 100%.
[00:13:57] And it'll be like Google notification about the fucking weather.
[00:14:00] I'll be like, oh, what's the seven day forecast?
[00:14:02] Like, and I'll look into that.
[00:14:04] No, I'll be like, where was I supposed to go in skies of Arcadia again?
[00:14:08] Oh, wait, what?
[00:14:09] Damn it.
[00:14:10] Yeah, I get that.
[00:14:12] I feel that too.
[00:14:13] It's very, I mean, especially it's different.
[00:14:15] I mean, if people have ADHD and stuff, like, of course, they're going to get distracted.
[00:14:18] Like my girlfriend could never play a JRPG and not use a guide because she would just get confused
[00:14:23] because she just plays for five minutes and then she has to pick up her phone and do something.
[00:14:28] And I get that.
[00:14:44] Hello.
[00:14:46] Yes, we're talking about retro from soft with our with our handsome, esteemed guest,
[00:14:51] Treaky O'Reilly.
[00:14:53] You make me blush.
[00:14:55] Oh, yeah.
[00:14:56] Just two handsome boys talking about retro from soft games.
[00:14:59] I've got a lot of stuff.
[00:15:03] Kind of written out and to talk to talk about mainly a lot of the games.
[00:15:08] The retro games that I have played.
[00:15:11] And kind of what they're like and some opinions I have on them.
[00:15:15] There's some great from soft creators that I know.
[00:15:17] I don't know them super like I know them.
[00:15:20] I've talked to them in my lifetime.
[00:15:22] I've talked to them and they're very good.
[00:15:24] So I have some of them to share.
[00:15:26] Nice.
[00:15:27] And then I have a little quiz later for Aaron.
[00:15:30] Yes, I want to make them that I'm going to get him to do is not big.
[00:15:33] It's nothing big.
[00:15:34] It's just, you know, I'm excited to fail it.
[00:15:37] No, I don't.
[00:15:38] I feel like like I was sitting here writing out the questions.
[00:15:41] It's a 50 50 first off.
[00:15:42] So you could go lucky.
[00:15:44] Um, but I was sitting here like, there's no way I'm going to trick Aaron at all.
[00:15:54] I'm not going to do like, I don't think it's going to happen, but we'll see when we get to it.
[00:16:01] We're going to the guest question.
[00:16:02] This is where we ask the guest of their new guest.
[00:16:05] We'll ask them the same old question.
[00:16:07] If it's a returning guest, I'll just make some shit up.
[00:16:10] But yeah, brand new guest.
[00:16:11] So what is your favorite gaming memory?
[00:16:15] Oh my gosh.
[00:16:16] You can pick more than one too, if you want.
[00:16:18] I okay.
[00:16:18] Well, I do have to kind of I can.
[00:16:20] Okay.
[00:16:21] So you're worrying you.
[00:16:23] I have a gaming memory.
[00:16:26] It's my most strongest gaming memory, but it's sad, but it's not like it's not like going to trauma.
[00:16:30] Dump a dump, make you cry sad.
[00:16:32] It's just like, it's like the air.
[00:16:34] The theme of it is sadness, but it's not actually that bad.
[00:16:39] And that would be, um, listen, I don't go on many podcasts.
[00:16:45] Okay.
[00:16:45] So this is probably the reason there's probably a reason why that doesn't happen.
[00:16:48] Um, when I was in middle school, I played a lot of animal crossing wild world.
[00:16:54] That's my favorite game.
[00:16:55] Yes.
[00:16:56] Animal crossing wild world and animal crossing game cube are my two favorite games of all time.
[00:17:00] So I played a lot of wild world.
[00:17:02] And one year on my birthday, um, I got up for school and my dad was away and my mother
[00:17:10] was running late, but she leaves super early.
[00:17:13] So she was out of the house and it's something to note.
[00:17:17] My birthday is her birthday too.
[00:17:18] So it was really abnormal for this to happen.
[00:17:21] My brothers, I don't even remember where they were, but they were in the house probably
[00:17:26] leaving for school as well.
[00:17:28] But none, none of my family said happy birthday to me is what happened.
[00:17:32] So I go to school and not a single person said happy, oops, said happy birthday to me.
[00:17:40] Not one.
[00:17:41] It's heart and fuckers.
[00:17:43] Dude.
[00:17:44] I know.
[00:17:44] And you know what the thing is?
[00:17:45] I'm pretty sure none of them even knew it was my birthday.
[00:17:48] So, but I didn't want to say it.
[00:17:50] I didn't want to say it to them.
[00:17:52] Cause that just feels a little, you know, it's a little bad, but anyway, what happens?
[00:17:57] Treat little cheeky's bums.
[00:17:58] I go home.
[00:18:00] I throw my bag onto the, onto the ground, heat up some pizza pockets, go back upstairs,
[00:18:06] put on like Dave, the barbarian or something, whatever it was on family.
[00:18:10] Yeah.
[00:18:12] Um, barbarian, barbarian.
[00:18:16] And, uh, wouldn't you, wouldn't you know it?
[00:18:19] All of my villagers start saying happy birthday to me.
[00:18:22] Oh, every single one.
[00:18:25] And I would be a lying man if I said I didn't cry a little bit when that happened, but that's
[00:18:32] awesome.
[00:18:33] I know.
[00:18:34] But my dad did come home.
[00:18:35] My mom came home.
[00:18:36] We had birthday cake.
[00:18:37] I got everything.
[00:18:38] Everything was happy in the end.
[00:18:40] But the first person's that first people that year were digital animals to tell me
[00:18:44] happy birthday.
[00:18:45] And it was wild dog, wild world, wild world.
[00:18:50] There you go.
[00:18:52] And then I said, I literally have in my notes, I said, if that's, if they don't want me saying
[00:18:56] sad things, I don't dare say any more.
[00:19:02] I don't want to trigger anyone.
[00:19:06] Um, I have a vivid memory of laying on my bedroom floor during like a really nice snowy
[00:19:11] night.
[00:19:11] And it was the first night I closed the oblivion gates and Kibach.
[00:19:15] And it was really in that stuck with me forever.
[00:19:18] I was pretty sick, man.
[00:19:20] There is something so cozy about just sitting inside gaming when it's all snowy outside.
[00:19:27] Like, Oh my God.
[00:19:28] I'm affection.
[00:19:29] I'm too reptile brain to, to put it into like clear, concise words, but it's just, it's
[00:19:35] good.
[00:19:36] Or like even just when it's raining too, man, it's just cozy.
[00:19:38] Oh yeah.
[00:19:39] Absolutely.
[00:19:39] What'd you say earlier?
[00:19:40] You said delicious.
[00:19:41] Yeah.
[00:19:42] There's something so delicious about closing the oblivion gates and Kibach.
[00:19:49] There's something so delicious about crossing animals and such.
[00:19:54] And to having them tell it saves your birthday and then you cry a little bit too much on
[00:19:58] your DS and it, you know, short circuits.
[00:20:00] It's like, it's like the ending to neon Genesis, a Evangelion where they're like, they're like,
[00:20:05] Oh, congratulations.
[00:20:07] Shinji.
[00:20:07] But it's like, happy birthday.
[00:20:09] Happy birthday.
[00:20:10] Tricky.
[00:20:11] Happy birthday.
[00:20:12] Happy birthday.
[00:20:13] They're doing the Shinji thing where you're like hands are on your head and your knees.
[00:20:16] You're like, I hated the ending of that.
[00:20:20] It's such a piece of shit, but I'm glad they saved it.
[00:20:24] They did save it.
[00:20:25] They did save it.
[00:20:26] But God damn.
[00:20:27] When I watched that, I literally, my friend got me on Evangelion and he's like, watch this.
[00:20:32] And I was like, and you know, dancing to the theme song.
[00:20:36] Every time I came on, I watched every episode and I got the end and I literally messaged him
[00:20:39] and I said, I hate this shit.
[00:20:41] It was terrible.
[00:20:43] Did you watch end of Evangelion?
[00:20:45] I'm like, no.
[00:20:45] He's like, do that.
[00:20:46] And I said, okay.
[00:20:47] Okay.
[00:20:47] But yeah, those are my favorite gaming memories that I could even think of.
[00:20:50] One of my strongest memories.
[00:20:51] Then the other one is one that I'm very fond of.
[00:20:54] Those are both awesome ones.
[00:20:55] Yeah.
[00:21:14] Retro FromSoft.
[00:21:15] We're getting to it.
[00:21:17] Let's get into Retro FromSoft.
[00:21:19] Let's go.
[00:21:20] Which games are we talking about, Aaron?
[00:21:23] Which ones are we talking about?
[00:21:24] We're talking about the first Retro FromSoft game ever made.
[00:21:27] A frigging masterpiece of a game that I think is probably one of the most perfect games out
[00:21:34] there.
[00:21:36] And I'm talking Kingsfield one.
[00:21:40] Kingsfield, baby.
[00:21:41] Kingsfield one.
[00:21:42] Okay.
[00:21:43] I've got a cool story about both Kingsfield one and two.
[00:21:46] So how do I start?
[00:21:48] So when I was a little baby boy, a little rosy cheek baby boy, Aaron, my stepdad who
[00:21:53] works at a trucking company, he cleans out semi trucks when truckers get back.
[00:21:58] Sometimes they'll have cool shit and they'll be like, dude, you can have this or give me
[00:22:02] money for a shit like that.
[00:22:03] So he cleans out this truck and then this dude has like this black box with like a PS
[00:22:09] one, all the cords.
[00:22:11] He's got bunches of games in there, including Final Fantasy seven, eight, resident evil, King
[00:22:17] Kingsfield one and two.
[00:22:19] And then, and then there's some garbage like Darkstone and like, I guess Madden isn't
[00:22:24] garbage, but I'm not a sports guy.
[00:22:27] So is Darkstone considered garbage compared to Madden?
[00:22:31] Uh, maybe not.
[00:22:33] I mean, I've never played Darkstone.
[00:22:35] I'm just fine.
[00:22:36] I don't know.
[00:22:37] It's not a good game.
[00:22:38] The only thing I remember from Darkstone was like when you can't try to do anything without
[00:22:42] any mana, your guys like, I do not have enough mana.
[00:22:45] Oh, it sounds really cool.
[00:22:47] I love that shit.
[00:22:48] Uh, but no, that's so a little baby Aaron.
[00:22:51] I tried playing Kingsfield.
[00:22:53] It was one or two.
[00:22:54] I forget.
[00:22:55] It probably was two and three because before you go on the whole name of conventions messed
[00:23:01] up.
[00:23:02] Oh yeah.
[00:23:02] Oh shit.
[00:23:03] I spilled a monster on myself.
[00:23:04] Shit.
[00:23:04] Nice.
[00:23:04] So that's good luck.
[00:23:05] Seven years.
[00:23:06] Good luck.
[00:23:06] Cause Kingsfield one only came out in Japan and then Kingsfield.
[00:23:11] Yeah.
[00:23:12] And then Kingsfield two, when it came over to the West was Kingsfield one, then Kingsfield
[00:23:17] three was Kingsfield two.
[00:23:18] And then Kingsfield four was the ancient city.
[00:23:23] Oh, so the whole, the whole, everything was all messed up about, about that, that whole
[00:23:31] thing, but you probably played two and three.
[00:23:33] I think so.
[00:23:35] Yeah.
[00:23:36] It would be one.
[00:23:37] It would have been one to you.
[00:23:40] Um, I think it was one.
[00:23:43] We had a strategy guide for it as well too.
[00:23:46] And I was flipping through that.
[00:23:47] I was like, wow, this game looks cool.
[00:23:49] And then I tried to play it.
[00:23:51] And of course it's Kingsfield and it was spooky.
[00:23:54] And I ran it like the, one of the first enemies was this, um, cracking.
[00:23:58] Yeah.
[00:23:59] I remember it being like this blob with tentacles.
[00:24:02] Yep.
[00:24:02] I couldn't tell what the fuck it was.
[00:24:04] I was like, no, I turned it off.
[00:24:06] That thing will kill you instantly.
[00:24:08] The best thing Kingsfield two is probably my favorite.
[00:24:13] I mean, King, the first four Kingsfield games.
[00:24:16] I mean, there's only four of them, but the first like four Kingsfield games, I consider
[00:24:19] them all equal.
[00:24:20] Two is probably my favorite mainly because like at the end, have you, you have never beaten
[00:24:27] the story and the strategy guide though.
[00:24:29] So go ahead and spoil it, man.
[00:24:30] I know it's not a spoiler.
[00:24:31] It's just the, if you at the end of the game, it's something you have to experience for like
[00:24:36] listeners out there, go look up Kingsfield two ending and listen to the voice actor,
[00:24:43] like the narrator who's narrating.
[00:24:45] He just fucking put all he puts, he puts his whole husband in it.
[00:24:51] And he like goes, he's like talking normally.
[00:24:53] He's like, Oh, I have a narrator.
[00:24:55] And then he like voices one of the dragons like Seath.
[00:24:59] But when he does it, he's like brightly.
[00:25:01] Does the light burn in your heart?
[00:25:03] Austin Lyle for the sound.
[00:25:04] And he like, just like says it.
[00:25:05] So like a goblin.
[00:25:08] It's perfect.
[00:25:10] Like the fucking singer from a faith.
[00:25:12] No more.
[00:25:14] What is it?
[00:25:15] Yeah.
[00:25:16] It's like, it's like that.
[00:25:17] He's like, and you're like, are you okay?
[00:25:20] But he goes so hard and I was playing it and I beat it.
[00:25:25] And I was laughing so hard.
[00:25:30] I couldn't stop because I don't even know what happened after that, but it's just like,
[00:25:34] he just goes on and it's just the most, the best voice actor I've ever heard in my life.
[00:25:38] Oh man.
[00:25:39] But before we get it, I mean, I keep trying to say before we get into it, but we're already
[00:25:44] into it.
[00:25:45] Listeners, please go check out Tricky's videos because you did that one on Shadow Tower.
[00:25:50] I've been meaning to play this game.
[00:25:52] I might still now.
[00:25:54] It seems difficult and awesome, but there was, um, I already forget.
[00:25:59] Shadow Tower 1 or Abyss?
[00:26:00] Shadow Tower 1.
[00:26:01] Okay.
[00:26:02] I didn't finish the Shadow Tower 2 video, but.
[00:26:05] That's okay.
[00:26:05] As long as you got to get 20 minutes in, that's where the best part happens.
[00:26:08] Go on.
[00:26:09] Shadow Tower 2.
[00:26:10] Yeah.
[00:26:10] The bosses were so like the voice acting for the bosses was just like, it was like early
[00:26:17] 90s cheesy, but it was good.
[00:26:20] Like, oh my God.
[00:26:21] And that's the, the best part.
[00:26:23] Like you get to the Skeletal Mage or whatever.
[00:26:25] And he's like, if you want to get to the boss of the game, you'll have to defeat me.
[00:26:31] And I'm like, that's quite literally just Skeletor's voice act.
[00:26:35] Yep.
[00:26:36] Yep.
[00:26:36] Yep.
[00:26:37] It was, it was so, so good.
[00:26:41] Duh.
[00:26:42] I forget which boss it was, but he had like a really low voice and he was like.
[00:26:45] Necron.
[00:26:46] Yeah.
[00:26:47] Oh, it gave me chills.
[00:26:48] He was like, dude.
[00:26:49] Uh, I forget what he says, but he's, he's talking real low and slow like this and like,
[00:26:56] Ooh.
[00:26:58] Defeated whatever.
[00:26:59] Yeah.
[00:27:00] And I'm like, okay.
[00:27:01] All right.
[00:27:01] Don't have to talk to me all sexy.
[00:27:03] Like, like, Oh man.
[00:27:06] It's like that episode of family guy where Peter has a cold and his voice is all raspy
[00:27:10] and like torn up because he has a cold.
[00:27:12] And yeah.
[00:27:14] It's the talk of the town, baby.
[00:27:17] No, it's, it's a shadow tower is another like shadow tower is.
[00:27:22] So they're both mega dungeons, which is something that's really interesting for, for me, at least
[00:27:30] I love when I play a game and it is literally like a mega dungeon wizardry is a great example
[00:27:35] of like going back.
[00:27:36] Even SMT four was like, you know, uh, Naraka was basically a mega dungeon until you get out
[00:27:43] and then you, you know, all that other stuff.
[00:27:45] But like shadow tower is an open world, but it's, it's very narrow.
[00:27:52] Whereas you have floors that you go to and you progress through the floors and you can
[00:27:58] go to other floors earlier and whatever, depending on how you, how you go through it.
[00:28:03] Like if you fall down a hole, you might end up on the second floor, but it's really hard
[00:28:06] to get back up until you finally teleporting stones.
[00:28:11] Whereas Kingsfield, it's like there's five floors as Kingsfield.
[00:28:17] One is what I'm referencing right now.
[00:28:18] There's five floors or maybe there's four and they progressively get harder, but they're
[00:28:23] pretty flat, right?
[00:28:25] Like you can go through them, but there's one way down to the second floor and then you
[00:28:30] can go back up there whenever you want.
[00:28:31] And like that progression system or that, like that, that design, I like a lot more
[00:28:36] than shadow tower, but shadow tower, I think is definitely more of a horror game than it is.
[00:28:43] You know, an epic fantasy that you would consider Kingsfield Kingsfield is still scary, but like
[00:28:50] there's way more aspects of horror and shadow tower, but shadow is so good, dude.
[00:28:54] You should play it.
[00:28:55] I am.
[00:28:56] I've got it on my, let me grab, let me get it out real fast.
[00:28:58] Oh, free.
[00:28:59] You got a friggin little meow.
[00:29:01] Oh yeah, baby.
[00:29:03] Got loaded the fuck up.
[00:29:05] Yes.
[00:29:05] I got like all the PS one, uh, Kingsfields armored cores.
[00:29:10] We'll get to the armored armored core in a little bit.
[00:29:12] Yeah.
[00:29:12] I actually really fucked with that.
[00:29:14] One thing that's really like, you can see a gigantic resemblance with like from soft
[00:29:21] then versus now.
[00:29:23] Cause like, I haven't played newer from soft like a Elden ring or bloodborne.
[00:29:28] I haven't, I played like maybe a little bit of Elden ring.
[00:29:31] I actually lied.
[00:29:33] Um, so I, I've played me at Mega Man zero lying.
[00:29:37] Yeah.
[00:29:39] Cause like I was over at my brother-in-law's house one time.
[00:29:43] Um, I think we were having like a Christmas party or I forget what the fuck we were doing,
[00:29:47] but he was like, dude, play Elden ring for me.
[00:29:49] And I did, and I died, but it was great.
[00:29:52] So I played it for like 10 minutes.
[00:29:54] Yeah.
[00:29:54] You're like, Oh, amazing.
[00:29:56] New from so the then and now kind of thing is, is you can.
[00:30:00] Oh, but I have played dark souls one, two, and three.
[00:30:02] Go.
[00:30:02] Yeah.
[00:30:03] Yeah.
[00:30:03] Yeah.
[00:30:04] If he, of course you do.
[00:30:05] But like the thing about them, they were okay.
[00:30:09] So something that I have to like put out there is, uh,
[00:30:14] Miyazaki was not always part of from software and something.
[00:30:19] That I've noticed, especially covering a lot of older games is a lot of people will talk
[00:30:23] about how Miyazaki loves poison levels, right?
[00:30:27] Like, Oh yeah.
[00:30:28] You know, you got that.
[00:30:29] You get the poison swamps and literally everywhere in Elden ring.
[00:30:33] Um, and he does, he loves them and he does put them in, but he didn't come on.
[00:30:37] I think he came on either on demon souls or just before that.
[00:30:46] I'm not sure.
[00:30:47] Oh shit.
[00:30:47] They have always put poison levels in their games.
[00:30:54] Like Kingsfield one, there was poison.
[00:30:57] Um, all of the Kingsfield games up to their armored core one.
[00:31:01] There was a poison level.
[00:31:02] There's just a point.
[00:31:03] There's poison everywhere.
[00:31:04] They just, they just, the company themselves love it, but they, but they, they brought that
[00:31:08] into their modern games.
[00:31:10] And I think the biggest thing about them going from old to new is they've kept a lot of things
[00:31:18] that worked and siphoned out a lot of things that didn't work.
[00:31:21] It was a lot of trial and error.
[00:31:22] Oh yeah.
[00:31:23] And getting like trying new formulas.
[00:31:25] Like, I don't know if you've ever heard of like forgotten kingdoms.
[00:31:29] That's like, yes, I have.
[00:31:30] That's a game cube game, right?
[00:31:31] It's a game cube game.
[00:31:32] It's a, it's a JRPG, but it has a like card system as its combat system.
[00:31:38] And that's a from software game.
[00:31:40] And I think they only made one of, they made a sequel to, uh, I think they made a sequel
[00:31:43] to it cause it was called ruin or rune in Japan.
[00:31:47] And then they made rune too, but I don't think rune ever came over here, but like they
[00:31:52] tried out so many different formulas and I, at the cost of saying names of games that
[00:31:58] I'm going to quiz you about later, I'm not going to, but they tried some, you know,
[00:32:03] different formulas that were nice, but I don't think they were their niche.
[00:32:08] And they really niche down when, when they basically did Kingsfield and then they were
[00:32:12] like, let's bring Kingsfield back, but in a modern form or format.
[00:32:15] And then they made demon souls and then they hit that gold mine, which is their niche.
[00:32:21] And then they were like, okay, we're going to stick with this dark souls, dark souls,
[00:32:26] two, three.
[00:32:28] Then they change it up again.
[00:32:29] They did bloodborne.
[00:32:30] And then that's when that's the whole thing of like the souls, like was born.
[00:32:34] And, um, there's another game I want to talk about right now, but I have to do the quiz
[00:32:39] because if I talk about it, cause I'm going to ruin a quiz question if I say it, but it's,
[00:32:49] it's just, that's mainly where I see them.
[00:32:51] I don't think they've changed that much.
[00:32:54] Yeah.
[00:32:55] Like they've gone, but they still have their,
[00:32:59] they're like really dark, creepy, not really dark, like creepy atmospheres.
[00:33:07] And the hell, like hefty, chunky weighted combat.
[00:33:10] Mm-hmm.
[00:33:12] Like granted it's moved from chunky first person to chunky third person.
[00:33:17] And yeah, you can dodge roll and shit, but yeah, there's how the fuck do I explain it?
[00:33:24] It's still really, really easy to die.
[00:33:26] And like newer from soft games, like it wasn't old games too.
[00:33:29] Cause, uh, I died like immediately in the, in Kingsfield one or whatever it is in the U S it's
[00:33:35] Kingsfield one to us anyway.
[00:33:37] So, but yeah, I mean, they, they put the crack in that you ran into.
[00:33:42] That thing is not meant to be killed.
[00:33:45] You're supposed to run in.
[00:33:47] You're supposed to run into it.
[00:33:48] Cause it basically the, the, if I'm remembering correctly, you, you start on the shoreline.
[00:33:53] Yep.
[00:33:53] There's a cliff face in front of you.
[00:33:55] I walked into the water and done.
[00:33:57] Yep.
[00:33:57] The water will kill you instantly.
[00:33:59] Um, there's a right path and a left path and left path leads to the cave opening where the Kraken is.
[00:34:06] And you can't kill it.
[00:34:07] You can try, but if it hits you once you're dead and it's really hard to avoid it.
[00:34:12] So you're going to die.
[00:34:13] It is meant to be come back.
[00:34:14] And so you go into the cave and you explore those areas, but then there's fucking like chests that you open up and skeletons pop out and slap you once and you die.
[00:34:22] Like, it's like, it's brutal, but that's fun to me.
[00:34:29] Uh, and I don't know why I think it's because I think it's because they're kind of like shorter games.
[00:34:33] Like there, if you knew what you were doing, it'd be like maybe, I guess if you're speed running, it'd be like four hours or something like that.
[00:34:40] But like, if you know what you're doing, it's like eight or 10 hours.
[00:34:43] Right.
[00:34:43] And it's really short and it's brutal, but you know what to watch out for when you get good at it.
[00:34:48] And as you play the Kingsfield games, you do start to get better.
[00:34:52] You start to learn how to circle straight.
[00:34:53] If you start to learn what abilities you should be using, because like, I think in the earlier games, if you, if you would attack with your sword, you get like a hidden.
[00:35:03] And next P bonus for strength.
[00:35:06] So you're attacking with your sword.
[00:35:07] You're getting that the more user sword, the stronger your sword swings, get flip side.
[00:35:12] You want to use magic.
[00:35:13] Those more magic you use, the stronger your spells get.
[00:35:16] And that's kind of how they had it, but they didn't directly tell you, but it would say like strength level up or like magic level up.
[00:35:23] If I remember correctly, it's been a while since I played Kingsfield, but like it was.
[00:35:28] It just, every time you would do something, either if it was exploring or fighting enemies, it felt rewarding.
[00:35:37] And that has endured their entire, their mainline games.
[00:35:42] It has endured a hundred percent.
[00:35:45] And I think like they have really stuck to that game philosophy and it works for them.
[00:35:50] And it's, I don't think anyone can capture that.
[00:35:53] I'm convinced any souls, like the closest soul, like to ever capture that for me is Neo.
[00:35:59] You know?
[00:35:59] Oh yeah.
[00:36:00] Like Koei Tecmo.
[00:36:01] I forgot about those.
[00:36:02] Yeah.
[00:36:03] Those are the, that's the closest thing I would say is a souls, like that I would be like, I like it, but they're not even that soul.
[00:36:09] Like they are souls, like, but it's not like that souls, like, you know?
[00:36:12] Yeah.
[00:36:13] I think, I think another thing I really like about like really challenging games.
[00:36:19] Cause I, I much prefer mainline Shin Megami Tensei over Persona because of the challenge.
[00:36:25] There's a lot of games that I like don't really care for cause they're not really challenging.
[00:36:30] But like, I think the reasoning behind it is because it requires much more, like requires you to be attentive and like requires way more player input than if you were.
[00:36:40] So yeah, like King's Field, you have to like, it'd be in the right position from enemies to make sure you don't get hit after you attack them.
[00:36:48] You have to strafe and make sure that you're doing all this and that to not get hit.
[00:36:52] But like, say if you were just playing fucking, not to bash Elder Scrolls, but like say if you were just playing Oblivion, you just walk into someone and just chop.
[00:37:01] Yeah.
[00:37:01] Just chop, walk back.
[00:37:03] Chop, walk back.
[00:37:03] Yeah.
[00:37:05] Stealth archer build, you don't even have to fight them.
[00:37:08] Yeah.
[00:37:08] Or like with, uh, with Skyrim, you just walk up, hit a shout, blow them off mountainside, they're dead.
[00:37:14] That's it.
[00:37:15] But yeah.
[00:37:16] And even like, but there's something to be said about that gameplay too, though.
[00:37:20] Yeah, I do.
[00:37:21] That's not to say, that's not to say that I don't enjoy a good Fus Roda in like in a really small house where there's just like small plates and shit everywhere.
[00:37:28] And they fly all over the house.
[00:37:29] Everything just goes flying everywhere.
[00:37:31] Or my favorite, favorite video ever on the internet was like, there's, I think it's like a million cheese wheels just rolling down a mountain in Skyrim and they're knocking people over and shit.
[00:37:43] But it's got the Skyrim epic theme song going.
[00:37:46] Dun, dun, dun, or no, that's the parts in the Caribbean
[00:38:12] that's the part of the game.
[00:38:14] And then you get to like mainline Shin Megami Tensei, like especially Nocturne.
[00:38:18] Oh my God, man.
[00:38:19] That'll knock you on your ass if you're not paying attention.
[00:38:22] The moment you get the matador.
[00:38:24] Yes.
[00:38:25] And you're like, you're like, you're like, I don't know what I'm doing because I can't beat this stupid goofy skeleton in a matador costume.
[00:38:33] I don't know.
[00:38:34] I don't know all over the goddamn place.
[00:38:36] Yeah.
[00:38:36] Like it teaches you, it forces you and a lot of good game design.
[00:38:39] It will, it will test you.
[00:38:42] It will test its players.
[00:38:43] It'll be like, do you actually know the mechanics of the game?
[00:38:48] And if not, then you have to go back and rethink your life.
[00:38:52] And I think, and I think that's, there's something to be like, it's admirable.
[00:38:57] Yeah.
[00:38:58] Like honestly, it really, it, it teaches you how to play the game without actually teaching you or telling you like a tutorial or something like that.
[00:39:07] It's like, no, you just need to, there's a trick to it.
[00:39:09] Like, like Armored Core.
[00:39:11] I played that for about three hours.
[00:39:15] First off listeners, if you lose a mission, you'll go into debt.
[00:39:19] Don't redo the same mission.
[00:39:20] You've already failed twice in a row.
[00:39:23] Cause you'll go into super debt and you'll never ever have enough money for anything ever.
[00:39:27] But you know what happens when you go into too much debt?
[00:39:29] What game over?
[00:39:32] Sort of.
[00:39:33] So there's something called the human plus project.
[00:39:36] And I'm talking specifically Armored Core one.
[00:39:39] There's something called the human plus project, which is, it's, this is fucking cool too.
[00:39:44] Uh, it's talked about in the game in mission, like debriefings and stuff like that.
[00:39:50] Like you pick it up with emails as well.
[00:39:52] Um, cause you get those to your, to the Raven's nest.
[00:39:55] And if you go into frigging super debt, dude, what happens is it says, okay, the corporations now own you and you are now going to be put through the human plus project.
[00:40:08] And you're like, what does that mean?
[00:40:10] And there's a cut scene where you're basically like blown up because you like lost.
[00:40:16] And then they go underneath the surgical table and they augment you.
[00:40:22] And you, and so what happens is you go from, it doesn't, it's basically a new game plus, but it only is able to be acquired by losing.
[00:40:31] And you can do it eight times.
[00:40:33] And every single time you get a buff that makes the game easier.
[00:40:39] Like you do more damage faster.
[00:40:42] Yeah.
[00:40:42] And every time.
[00:40:43] So if you lose too much, you just become like a cyborg.
[00:40:49] It's and it's like, it's awesome.
[00:40:51] It's really cool.
[00:40:53] And it's a really cool narrative.
[00:40:54] And it's basically baby mode.
[00:40:56] It's sweet game of dark souls games.
[00:40:59] But you shouldn't have brought that up.
[00:41:05] And, and basically it's, it's so, so, so, so cool because you're like, whoa, what the hell?
[00:41:10] And like the first upgrade is like, you can see all other like ACs and whatever the units are that are not ACs.
[00:41:18] Uh, you can see them on your map and then it's like, you're faster.
[00:41:21] And then it's like your energy gauge doesn't go down as fast.
[00:41:24] And then it's like, you have more power, like you're more damage.
[00:41:28] And it just keeps rewarding you for failing.
[00:41:32] But I think there's an alternate ending or there, it will say human plus like eight at the end of your, if you beat the game or something like that.
[00:41:41] That's so cool.
[00:41:42] Oh, it marks your, your.
[00:41:44] So I called my AC poober.
[00:41:47] And when you go in, when you go through the human plus program, it changes it to like a, like a company name.
[00:41:56] Like it's called like C three, whatever.
[00:41:59] It changes your name.
[00:42:01] It takes your identity away from you, which is another cool story building thing that they put into the game that you, you don't know unless you fail too much.
[00:42:07] I love it.
[00:42:09] I love armor core.
[00:42:10] It's so sick.
[00:42:10] That is really cool, man.
[00:42:12] And it was such a pain in the ass to try to learn the, um, try to learn the controls in the beginning.
[00:42:17] Cause I was like, I don't know what any of this does.
[00:42:19] And then I was like, this is actually really fucking simple.
[00:42:22] And then you, you kind of, then you start to learn how to like perfectly strafe while aiming the camera and walking at a certain angle.
[00:42:29] And then you feel on killable.
[00:42:32] And so it, it becomes so delicious.
[00:42:37] It straight, it straight, it straight up does it.
[00:42:41] Like you go from being, this is the stupidest, most garbage game I've ever played in my life to, I am a literal God.
[00:42:51] Because you do.
[00:42:51] Oh, and then dude.
[00:42:52] And then like the, the parts where you're walking through the ocean and it's like, it's the fucking ocean, but you're just, you're this gigantic fucking neck.
[00:43:00] Or you're walking through these fucking tunnels and traffic and there's little tiny baby cars whizzing by and it's like, I am a God amongst men.
[00:43:09] You literally are.
[00:43:10] And you can blow them up.
[00:43:11] Yeah.
[00:43:11] Which I didn't do for the record.
[00:43:14] The fucking doctor paid for it or whatever.
[00:43:17] Yeah.
[00:43:18] God, it's so cool.
[00:43:19] And it also, even just, I thought Armored Core was just going to be this basic bitch ass like a Mech Assault or the one on Xbox with the gigantic fucking command center controller thing.
[00:43:33] Uh, I don't know what that one is.
[00:43:36] I forget what it's called also, but I thought it was a lot of Mech games.
[00:43:39] There's a lot of Mech games.
[00:43:41] Especially if you play on PC.
[00:43:43] Holy shit.
[00:43:43] I thought it was going to be like them, but it's like, it's not, it's, it's its own awesome, delicious flavor.
[00:43:50] Did you play the new one?
[00:43:52] No.
[00:43:53] Uh, Rubicon or whatever.
[00:43:54] Yeah.
[00:43:54] Fires of Rubicon.
[00:43:55] It is.
[00:43:57] Oh, it's just a modern front.
[00:43:59] I've only played Armored Core one.
[00:44:02] And I own Armored Core four.
[00:44:05] I think.
[00:44:06] I don't know where it is, but I haven't played it, but I played Armored Core one.
[00:44:10] And then when I played Fires of Rubicon, I was like, oh shit, this is literally just Armored Core one.
[00:44:14] But modern.
[00:44:15] It's so good.
[00:44:16] It's so, so good.
[00:44:17] And it's got a lot of story and stuff in it.
[00:44:19] And the human plus project.
[00:44:20] I can't even, I can't even talk about it.
[00:44:22] I can't, if you haven't played it, and there's probably listeners who haven't played it and I'll ramble on forever about that game.
[00:44:26] But it is so good.
[00:44:28] Play it.
[00:44:29] I highly endorse it.
[00:44:31] Yeah.
[00:44:32] That is really fucking.
[00:44:33] And, uh, the story for Kingsfield two.
[00:44:35] I really liked that also.
[00:44:37] Like when I was, when I, what got me to even play the game in the first place when I was a kid was reading through that.
[00:44:42] Sorry, monster burp.
[00:44:44] Um, I was reading through this, flipping through the strategy guide, learning about the story.
[00:44:47] Basically like you're a prince whose dad, the king, or maybe you're not a prince.
[00:44:53] Yeah.
[00:44:53] No, you are.
[00:44:54] You are.
[00:44:54] What is it?
[00:44:55] It's Austin.
[00:44:56] Lyle Forrester is the prince of your dad went missing and sealed.
[00:45:03] So I don't fucking remember.
[00:45:04] And then I can't remember.
[00:45:06] And then, um, you find your dad again and he's like, he's going insane or something.
[00:45:12] Yeah.
[00:45:12] And then you fight him at the end and you have this cool moon, uh, moonlight sword.
[00:45:16] Moonlight great sword.
[00:45:17] Yeah.
[00:45:18] And it's like transparent and shit.
[00:45:20] And it's really, really cool.
[00:45:21] Bring back transparent swords developers.
[00:45:24] I am.
[00:45:25] I am a frigging.
[00:45:27] I want more pulp fantasy in my games.
[00:45:31] I love pulp fantasy.
[00:45:32] And that's what these old games did.
[00:45:34] They did pulp to a T and it was so, so good.
[00:45:38] I guess we'll learn all about shadow tower.
[00:45:41] And now that we've plowed through King's field and armored core.
[00:45:44] Well, I mean, shadow tower is it's, it's just King's field, but a little darker.
[00:45:51] It also, it also is the two.
[00:45:55] I don't know.
[00:45:56] Someone told me that the two shadow tower and shadow tarp is are connected, but I don't
[00:46:01] know how they are, but essentially the story of that game is there's like three kingdoms
[00:46:06] and they keep this like tower basically sealed.
[00:46:11] And then there's a crown that grants her wishes.
[00:46:13] And then one of the Kings was like, you know, screw you guys.
[00:46:17] I'm going to go get that crown dog.
[00:46:20] And then they did and he did.
[00:46:22] And then it caused the tower to like emerge, but it doesn't emerge.
[00:46:26] It goes down.
[00:46:26] So it creates a hole in the ground.
[00:46:28] And then you, you're a guy named Russ Hardy.
[00:46:34] I think is your name.
[00:46:35] And you're just a mercenary and you come back to your hometown.
[00:46:37] It's just a giant crater.
[00:46:39] Hell yeah.
[00:46:40] Because, because the tower up here.
[00:46:43] And so, and then, so like you're like a woman or someone gives you a sword and says, if you
[00:46:48] want to go avenge everyone, go, go get the crown.
[00:46:51] You go do that.
[00:46:52] And then you do, you go down into the thing and then you find out that there's like knights
[00:46:56] that went down there and then they all got mutated in the big old monsters.
[00:47:01] And it's just, it's, it's such a weird premise and it works so well.
[00:47:09] It's confusing as all hell, but there is, it's like writing on the walls and stuff like that.
[00:47:13] But it's, it's just, it's just King's field.
[00:47:17] In my opinion, it's a, it's different cause you have like a million more stats and it's
[00:47:21] got like stat progression, but it's got like the first game has like 120 different monsters.
[00:47:28] Holy shit.
[00:47:30] Yeah.
[00:47:30] Like it has an outrageous, like a Pokemon gen one amounts of monsters.
[00:47:38] It's, it's crazy.
[00:47:39] And the second one only has like 70 or something like that.
[00:47:42] But the second one's more sci-fi.
[00:47:45] Didn't, didn't the, the first shadow tower also have like weird, like a weird stats as
[00:47:51] well too.
[00:47:51] Like it has like your attack and dexterity, but there's also like just a bunch of weird
[00:47:56] ones.
[00:47:57] There's like melting.
[00:47:58] Oh yeah.
[00:47:59] And like melt it.
[00:48:02] Was it melting?
[00:48:05] Harmony?
[00:48:07] I don't even, I can't even remember all.
[00:48:09] There was just like these weird names and I was just sitting there when I was playing
[00:48:13] it and I was like, I'm just going to throw everything into strength.
[00:48:16] I don't know.
[00:48:18] Like I don't, if you do a playthrough and you throw everything into melting, send me your
[00:48:25] playthrough.
[00:48:25] I want to see how that goes.
[00:48:27] Can you actually put points into melting or is it just you?
[00:48:31] Yeah.
[00:48:32] You can.
[00:48:33] I, I.
[00:48:34] I'll do it.
[00:48:35] You'd fucking do it.
[00:48:36] I want to see it.
[00:48:37] I think melting is like acid damage.
[00:48:41] If I was to be, if I was a betting man, I would say melting is acid damage, but I still
[00:48:48] like harmony escapes me.
[00:48:51] Don't know.
[00:48:52] I do not know what harmony could be.
[00:48:54] Would it?
[00:48:57] I don't know.
[00:48:58] I don't even think you can try.
[00:49:01] I don't think I could.
[00:49:02] I think that's lost to time.
[00:49:02] I was thinking like healing, but I don't think you have healing spells in that game.
[00:49:06] No.
[00:49:07] Like, uh, I think there is healing spells.
[00:49:10] There's no Kiraga in that.
[00:49:11] There's no Kiraga or Kira or the other one.
[00:49:14] There's none of those, but there is like, it's all ring based.
[00:49:17] You get a ring and you put it on and that Bronco Super Bowl ring.
[00:49:21] Like literally, that's quite literally what it is.
[00:49:24] It's like wonder twins form of melting.
[00:49:27] It's great.
[00:49:29] Form of delicious form of delicious one of the sweet a game.
[00:49:35] But like, um, and then you get into the second game.
[00:49:39] The second game didn't come to, to, to, uh, West.
[00:49:43] It only came in Japan.
[00:49:45] And, um, or came to Japan and, um, I shouldn't have even started laughing.
[00:49:54] Anyway, but it's, it has an English patch if you want to, um, emulate it.
[00:49:59] Although I don't know if the emulator is still up because of everything that's been going down.
[00:50:03] Yeah.
[00:50:03] That is, that is, it's more digestible because you have, I think you have the same amount of stats and I think melting isn't it, but it's called something different.
[00:50:15] Liquid.
[00:50:16] There's something like, it's called acid damage.
[00:50:19] No, it's not, but it's, it's, it's just, you play it and you're like, oh, okay, this makes a lot of sense.
[00:50:24] And it's, um, it's essentially the same game, but I think shadow tower.
[00:50:27] This is like, I don't know.
[00:50:29] I think I might like it more than shadow tower one.
[00:50:32] Hell yeah, crazy, which is crazy.
[00:50:34] The only thing that sucks about that game is there's no voice acting.
[00:50:37] Oh, that's right.
[00:50:39] Yeah.
[00:50:40] There's no voice acting and it sucks.
[00:50:42] Major sucks.
[00:50:43] Big suck.
[00:50:45] Big suck.
[00:50:45] Massive suck.
[00:50:47] That's like that.
[00:50:48] Those are like the big suck.
[00:50:50] Delicious suck.
[00:50:53] Massive.
[00:50:54] Delicious.
[00:50:56] Sweeka suck.
[00:50:57] Sweeka suck.
[00:50:59] Sweeka suck.
[00:50:59] Sweeka suck.
[00:51:00] Have you, um, have you ever played the echo night games before?
[00:51:05] So I have echo night is actually, that's my next from soft video.
[00:51:10] I'm planning on making nice.
[00:51:12] So I really will.
[00:51:13] I don't know.
[00:51:13] I have to see because I'm trying to, I might skip the mega man legends.
[00:51:19] I'm not sure, but I, um, I want to cover echo night.
[00:51:23] Cause I played the first two, four hours of it and it's fantastic.
[00:51:30] It is.
[00:51:31] And it's not fantastic.
[00:51:32] Like if you're from software fan and you play it, like if you're like, you came off of like demon souls, you came off of dark souls and something that you're not going to, it's not really those, that type of game.
[00:51:42] And you know, this guy played it.
[00:51:44] Yeah.
[00:51:45] It's like a mystery puzzle solving game with horror aspects.
[00:51:49] And when I play what, from what I played, I couldn't stop thinking about how it kept drawing comparisons to Luigi's mansion.
[00:52:01] She isn't that, isn't that a little fucked up in that?
[00:52:05] Yeah.
[00:52:06] Yeah.
[00:52:06] You're basically, you're basically sucking them off.
[00:52:08] I mean, up.
[00:52:09] You're not sucking them up.
[00:52:10] You're just, you're exercising them or whatever, but yeah.
[00:52:13] You're like exercising them in their different rooms.
[00:52:16] And then the little light goes on and it's like, and you're like, this is just Luigi's mansion.
[00:52:22] You're picking up a key.
[00:52:23] Yeah, exactly.
[00:52:25] Oh yeah.
[00:52:27] It's like, it's, it's crazy, but it's like super unique.
[00:52:33] And a lot of people say the, the third and the second game are like, I can't remember if people hate the one that's based in space.
[00:52:42] I think they, I don't know if they hate or like it.
[00:52:46] One of them, they like, and one of them, they hate, but the first one is like, damn, you're like fighting like an ancient evil.
[00:52:54] And like a, a, you're like your granddaughter or grandson or, you know, you know, your grandpa died protecting a secret from an evil demon man.
[00:53:09] Yeah.
[00:53:09] From like a red stone.
[00:53:12] Yeah.
[00:53:13] Yeah.
[00:53:14] And then, and then you got to go figure out all the ghosts.
[00:53:20] It's delicious.
[00:53:21] Ghost.
[00:53:22] Is that a delicious ghost?
[00:53:23] Which one is the one that's on a boat?
[00:53:25] Oh, that's the first.
[00:53:26] That's the first one.
[00:53:26] Okay.
[00:53:27] First one.
[00:53:27] Yeah.
[00:53:28] It's just, it's just, it sets up.
[00:53:29] You don't know.
[00:53:30] You're not there at first.
[00:53:31] You're like, you're first, you're going to a house, you go to the house, you do some investigating and then you're on a train, which is like a flashback, but you're like astral projecting there.
[00:53:43] And then you get sucked into the boat or into the book.
[00:53:50] Maybe you big, delicious suck into book.
[00:53:54] Never ending story into that book.
[00:53:57] Never ending.
[00:53:57] Dude, the guy, the guy your grandpa was fighting could never ride on foul core.
[00:54:04] Never.
[00:54:05] You know, you wouldn't let him run.
[00:54:06] You never let him run.
[00:54:10] Another family guy reference when he, and Peter's riding on foul core.
[00:54:14] He's like, Oh, you're a little too heavy, but we're going down.
[00:54:17] And then crash into the ground.
[00:54:20] I love the never ending story.
[00:54:22] I even liked the second one.
[00:54:23] People don't like it that much, but I love it.
[00:54:24] But that's a tangent that I'm not going to go on.
[00:54:27] That'll be part two.
[00:54:28] That'll be part.
[00:54:30] Yep.
[00:54:32] Retro eighties movies.
[00:54:33] The rock monster scared the fuck out of me when I was a kid.
[00:54:37] Did he?
[00:54:38] Yeah.
[00:54:38] Falkor spooked me a lot, but I think the, I think the Sphinxes were.
[00:54:44] Oh, but you know what?
[00:54:46] The crazy part is about that.
[00:54:48] It was scary, but it was also kind of a little sexy.
[00:54:51] Cause you could, they had like, they had like boo.
[00:54:53] You could see their boobs.
[00:54:55] Never ending story.
[00:54:57] Sphinx.
[00:54:58] Look, just look it up.
[00:55:00] But it makes you on incognito.
[00:55:02] No, hell no.
[00:55:03] I'm going, go it all out.
[00:55:04] You're a grown adult man.
[00:55:06] That's right.
[00:55:07] I'm 30.
[00:55:09] 34.
[00:55:11] There you go.
[00:55:12] Um, that's awesome.
[00:55:13] Yeah.
[00:55:13] Those Sphinxes are good listeners.
[00:55:15] Those Sphinxes are really cool.
[00:55:16] Yeah.
[00:55:17] I literally, but I was like, I was like confused.
[00:55:19] Cause I was like, I saw their face and I was like, but then I was like, but what are those
[00:55:24] on their chest?
[00:55:27] I grew, I grew up that day.
[00:55:30] Anyway, we're talking about never.
[00:55:33] Echo night.
[00:55:34] I've only played the first one and it is, it truly is a unique puzzle solving game that
[00:55:43] keeps you guessing.
[00:55:44] It's scary.
[00:55:45] There's a little ghost that follows you around that will get you.
[00:55:49] And it's terrifying.
[00:55:51] It'll tickle you to death.
[00:55:52] It will tickle you to death.
[00:55:53] And you, you will not be, no one will hear you laugh in space.
[00:55:58] Space.
[00:55:59] That's the second one or the third one.
[00:56:01] No, that's the third.
[00:56:02] Yeah.
[00:56:02] Cause third one.
[00:56:03] So, okay.
[00:56:04] So yeah, the, I don't know.
[00:56:06] Yeah.
[00:56:06] The second one only came out in Japan.
[00:56:10] I want to mention.
[00:56:11] Let me, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:56:13] Yep.
[00:56:14] The Lord of nightmares.
[00:56:15] It's called, yeah, you're in a mansion.
[00:56:17] That one I have not played.
[00:56:18] I've just, I've watched a nitro rat.
[00:56:20] I watch him a lot on the old YouTube.
[00:56:22] I watched his video of that.
[00:56:23] I love nitro red.
[00:56:25] Yeah.
[00:56:25] His, I live in his city, which is fucked up.
[00:56:28] That is.
[00:56:30] You hit him up.
[00:56:31] Do collapse.
[00:56:32] No, I die.
[00:56:32] He's not going to want to talk to me.
[00:56:34] He, he, I've seen him walking his dog or who I think it was him.
[00:56:39] I don't know if you know, even know if he has a dog.
[00:56:41] So I don't, it probably wasn't him.
[00:56:43] Now that I think about it, but I do, I do for a fact, no, he, he lives in my area, but
[00:56:51] I know that Mike was talking.
[00:56:52] He's like speak.
[00:56:53] Cause I said something I was talking about Castlevania 64 and I was talking about the
[00:56:59] nitro part where you you're walking and you, if you jump, you blow up and it's the most frustrating thing.
[00:57:04] Ever.
[00:57:05] And he was like, speaking of nitro rad, he's like, I didn't know nitro rad was a big YouTube.
[00:57:08] Like dude, I fucking have been watching nitro rad for years.
[00:57:12] Yep.
[00:57:14] But yeah, he didn't echo night video.
[00:57:15] Didn't he?
[00:57:16] Yeah, he did.
[00:57:17] He did all of them.
[00:57:18] I'm pretty sure.
[00:57:19] Like that was, oh, he did all of them.
[00:57:21] Yeah.
[00:57:21] He, yeah.
[00:57:22] The second one was only in Japan.
[00:57:24] I've never played that one.
[00:57:25] I've just seen the video on it.
[00:57:27] The third one, the, the space one that I think that's the one everybody hates.
[00:57:32] Cause yeah, everything's gray.
[00:57:33] And it's hard to find shit.
[00:57:35] Yeah.
[00:57:37] But first one is only one I've ever played then.
[00:57:39] Yeah.
[00:57:39] It's really fucking cool.
[00:57:41] If you, uh, the listeners, there's no Game Boy horror in it.
[00:57:44] Unfortunately, no Game Boy horror.
[00:57:46] Nope.
[00:57:47] No Poltergeist 3000.
[00:57:48] Yep.
[00:57:49] Nope.
[00:57:50] No booze.
[00:57:50] No booze.
[00:57:51] You just, you wander around.
[00:57:53] Basically you find ghosts, you solve their problems.
[00:57:56] Basically.
[00:57:57] If you do, they'll give you an astral piece.
[00:57:59] It is just like the Ouija's mansion.
[00:58:01] Holy shit.
[00:58:03] Isn't that, isn't that when you start thinking about it, it's kind of wild.
[00:58:06] And except for like, they'll like, you'll, you'll have like flashbacks of like, their,
[00:58:12] like the ghost pass or whatever.
[00:58:13] I don't know why I'm pointing backward to my trash can.
[00:58:15] Yeah.
[00:58:16] Flashback to their past.
[00:58:18] So they'll learn a little bit about them.
[00:58:19] You don't really do that in the Ouija's mansion.
[00:58:21] You just boot up the old Game Boy horror and it'll be like fat guy loves to eat food.
[00:58:26] Cause he's fat.
[00:58:26] And it's like, okay, cool.
[00:58:28] Awesome.
[00:58:29] I learned a lot today, man.
[00:58:31] Yep.
[00:58:32] No, it's it, it, it, the comparisons can be made.
[00:58:35] That's for sure.
[00:58:36] But it is, they are different games.
[00:58:37] No fat man in echo night though.
[00:58:40] No, it's not that I've seen at least now.
[00:58:44] Echo night is great, but do you know what the best from software game is retro from software
[00:58:51] game is, and this is going to get me in hot water.
[00:58:54] Do tell do spill those, those delicious.
[00:58:58] Do you want to take a spit?
[00:58:58] You want to take a spit at it or do you not know?
[00:59:01] Do you, I'm pretty sure I know I'm the ultimate.
[00:59:04] But I've looked through all your videos.
[00:59:07] I'm pretty sure it's, what's the fucking rain one again?
[00:59:11] Ever eternal ring.
[00:59:12] Is it eternal eternal ring, baby eternal ring.
[00:59:17] I would remake that into one video.
[00:59:19] If I had the chance that is basically sweet game.
[00:59:24] King's field.
[00:59:26] I won't let, I won't stop.
[00:59:28] I will.
[00:59:28] You can't know.
[00:59:29] Please don't.
[00:59:30] It is baby mode.
[00:59:33] King's field.
[00:59:35] Uh, because it is just so easy.
[00:59:39] Uh, me, my friend played it and he said he got stuck.
[00:59:41] Uh, in fact, when I first played it, I got stuck at a part with them cause we played it
[00:59:45] together.
[00:59:46] First time ever.
[00:59:47] Cause my friend grew up with it.
[00:59:48] He's like, this game's amazing.
[00:59:50] We should play it together.
[00:59:50] I said, okay, let's do it.
[00:59:51] Couple of my buds came over.
[00:59:53] We stayed up to like 4am playing it.
[00:59:55] And hell yeah.
[00:59:57] We got stuck at a volcano and you had to shoot a spell at a door, but we just were too stupid
[01:00:03] to do that.
[01:00:04] So we just, we just stood there for 30 minutes looking up a guide and the guy didn't even
[01:00:09] tell us.
[01:00:09] It just said, go through the door.
[01:00:10] And we're like, okay.
[01:00:11] And we couldn't, and we got so confused.
[01:00:12] And then we eventually accidentally hit the spell button and shot it and hit it and it
[01:00:19] opened up and we're like, Oh, perfect.
[01:00:21] But that game's great because I mean, it's, it's got this air to it.
[01:00:25] That is like, so PS two coded.
[01:00:30] It's not even funny.
[01:00:31] The music, the, the way it plays, um, the make the ring mechanics where you basically
[01:00:37] confuse stones into rings.
[01:00:41] It's just so, it's so amazing.
[01:00:45] I love it.
[01:00:45] It's my favorite.
[01:00:46] I'm looking at a shit ton of screenshots on, um, the old Google and man there.
[01:00:52] And when did the, what year did this game come out?
[01:00:55] 2000 something.
[01:00:56] 2000.
[01:00:56] It was 2000 October of 2000 or years.
[01:01:00] It must've been like, that was like Reddit when the PS two came out.
[01:01:03] Wasn't it?
[01:01:04] I think I'll tell you by using from, uh, from software is a page, which tells you literally
[01:01:09] have it.
[01:01:09] Yep.
[01:01:09] Launch the PS two home console.
[01:01:10] It was their first PS two game was eternal ring.
[01:01:14] Dude.
[01:01:15] Yeah.
[01:01:17] Exactly.
[01:01:17] Like what a Kingsfield game would look like, except with like more shit on the HUD.
[01:01:22] Cause it's got like the cool little spinny snake thing by the HP bar and like, Oh yeah.
[01:01:29] The time, because there's, there's a time cycle, which has no consequence in that game,
[01:01:33] but there is a day night cycle.
[01:01:35] It's, it's crazy.
[01:01:36] Um, it's not also available.
[01:01:38] I know.
[01:01:39] Right.
[01:01:40] It, it, well, that's not true.
[01:01:41] NPCs go to sleep at night in that game, but there's very few NPCs.
[01:01:45] I know that it's not never really become a problem, but it is available on the PlayStation
[01:01:52] store on PS five and PS four.
[01:01:54] That's cool.
[01:01:55] So you can't, you can actually buy that game for like 20 bucks and that's how I played it.
[01:01:59] That's awesome.
[01:02:00] Yeah.
[01:02:01] And then I bought it.
[01:02:02] No, I didn't.
[01:02:04] I'm going to buy it.
[01:02:07] Let's see.
[01:02:08] Oh, God damn it.
[01:02:10] Listeners.
[01:02:11] If you look up this game, make sure you put PS two afterward.
[01:02:14] Cause you'll get just a bunch of rings, like actual like jewelry rings.
[01:02:18] Um, Oh, it's only like eternal.
[01:02:20] It's not very, it's like 20 bucks completing or box.
[01:02:25] I have to have bought it.
[01:02:26] There's no way I didn't buy that game.
[01:02:27] I bought ever grace, but I didn't buy.
[01:02:31] I'm the, what the hell's wrong with me, dog?
[01:02:33] And I'm going to get that game.
[01:02:34] Yeah.
[01:02:35] That game.
[01:02:36] It's, it's genuinely, it's my favorite.
[01:02:38] A lot of people say it's not that great.
[01:02:40] Probably because it, fuck them.
[01:02:42] Fucking attitude.
[01:02:43] A lot of people say it's not great.
[01:02:44] Cause it didn't really do a whole lot with the formula, but like, I don't know, dog.
[01:02:51] It's, it's nice.
[01:02:52] It feels nice.
[01:02:53] If you like it, it's good, man.
[01:02:56] Yeah.
[01:02:56] Fuck everybody else.
[01:02:57] I don't care.
[01:02:57] It's like, um, I'm trying to give another game that everybody hates that I like.
[01:03:01] Sonic and all stars racing transformed.
[01:03:04] People are always like Mario Kart eight is like the perfect car racer.
[01:03:09] You haven't, you haven't played, you haven't played like Sonic riders, zero gravity or, uh,
[01:03:15] I've, I didn't even know those existed to be quite honest.
[01:03:19] I played the piss out of Sonic riders and Sonic riders, zero gravity, Sonic and all stars racing transformed shirts.
[01:03:29] It's not like as polished as Mario Kart eight, but it's just as good.
[01:03:33] It's awesome.
[01:03:34] I am.
[01:03:35] The only Sonic racer I played was Sonic racing and it's like the super son.
[01:03:40] Oh, Sonic R.
[01:03:40] You're going to get your.
[01:03:41] Yeah.
[01:03:41] Sonic R.
[01:03:42] There we go.
[01:03:43] Man.
[01:03:43] It doesn't even, doesn't even compare.
[01:03:45] No, it, listen, I played that game in my cousin's basement and we just sat there and sang the songs.
[01:03:51] Yeah.
[01:03:51] It's so fucking catchy, dude.
[01:03:53] The songs they on that soundtrack are.
[01:03:55] Mwah.
[01:03:56] Mwah.
[01:03:57] It's perfect.
[01:03:58] Bam, bam, bam, bam.
[01:03:59] Bam.
[01:04:01] Bam.
[01:04:01] Dude.
[01:04:02] Um, just feel the beat.
[01:04:04] All right.
[01:04:05] No.
[01:04:05] All right.
[01:04:06] Okay.
[01:04:06] Cool.
[01:04:06] You brought up lost kingdoms earlier than I played.
[01:04:09] I played.
[01:04:10] I wouldn't say the shit out of it as a kid, but I played a good amount of it.
[01:04:14] I remember like the weird little things the, the girl and the other character would say
[01:04:17] whenever they toss out a card, there was a dude that would be like, he'd be like, and
[01:04:23] then he'd throw out a card and then it's someone like a minotaur.
[01:04:25] That's sick.
[01:04:26] Or the lady would be.
[01:04:28] No, I forgot what the fuck she said.
[01:04:30] Oh no, I lost it, but it was cool.
[01:04:34] Oh no.
[01:04:35] It's I've never played it.
[01:04:37] I've only seen gameplay of it.
[01:04:40] Cause obviously I do a lot of research for like, which from software game I want to do
[01:04:44] next.
[01:04:44] And like, I saw this and I was like, it's a G RPG.
[01:04:47] So I probably won't touch it for a long time until I have more time to work on videos.
[01:04:50] But like, it looks, is it a short one?
[01:04:54] I'm looking up.
[01:04:54] I'm pretty sure.
[01:04:55] Um, lost kingdoms, 10 hours or less.
[01:04:59] That's my, that's what I've been trying to get away from.
[01:05:03] Oh, buddy.
[01:05:04] So the first game completionist, like the, the, the long, so it'll take you 12, 12 hours.
[01:05:12] Oh my God.
[01:05:12] So the main story is just six and a half.
[01:05:15] Okay.
[01:05:16] Okay.
[01:05:17] It looks really good.
[01:05:18] And I do like the idea of card game card based combat.
[01:05:24] That it's, it's neat to me.
[01:05:26] So I definitely want to take a look at that.
[01:05:30] Cause I know there's also like rune two or lost kingdoms too, which is crazy.
[01:05:34] Another one.
[01:05:35] Do you want to touch more on lost kingdoms?
[01:05:37] Um, that's pretty much it.
[01:05:39] I mean, you just basically it's just like real time combat.
[01:05:43] You're just running across the map and you have, I haven't played it in many a year.
[01:05:49] There's four cards that appear that are with the face buttons, right?
[01:05:52] It's like a, B X and Y.
[01:05:53] They each take a certain amount of like energy or whatever, and you summon them and then
[01:05:58] they'll, they'll go and attack enemies or, Oh man, I should have played this and brushed
[01:06:05] up on that, but I was too busy with armored.
[01:06:10] Yeah.
[01:06:11] Yeah.
[01:06:11] You had too much fun on your, uh, your handheld.
[01:06:15] Fuck.
[01:06:16] The other one that is like really good that I, I did cover in a video.
[01:06:20] I think I could have done a way better job than like a, I think I did a 10 minute video
[01:06:24] on it was ever grace.
[01:06:26] Ever grace is such a strange game.
[01:06:32] Like that's what I, the whole thing about the video is how strange it is, but it truly
[01:06:36] is one of the most unique action RPGs that I've ever played where you, you essentially
[01:06:44] go to like a magical world and you have like pala, pala armaments or maybe it's just armaments.
[01:06:51] I can't remember pala armas.
[01:06:54] I can't remember what it is.
[01:06:55] Basically.
[01:06:55] It's like different clothing that does different things.
[01:07:00] And so like, you might have like boots that make you hover or like fists that cast fire
[01:07:05] bolts.
[01:07:05] And then you have like weapons and shit like that.
[01:07:07] And your stamina is your, is your health bar.
[01:07:13] So you whack someone once with full stamina, which is your full, say you have full health.
[01:07:18] You whack someone.
[01:07:20] You, you did a lot.
[01:07:21] You did a lot of damage, uh, but your stamina goes down and it's got to recharge.
[01:07:25] But when you lose health, the stamina bar gets smaller, but it doesn't get weaker.
[01:07:30] So the risk reward of it is like the less health you have, the quicker your stamina bar
[01:07:37] will recharge the max.
[01:07:39] So you can do max damage more like often, but you have less health.
[01:07:43] That's cool.
[01:07:44] You could die easier.
[01:07:45] So it's like, it's so intricate in that way.
[01:07:48] And like music, fantastic, super, um, abstract, not even abstract, just like dreamlike, you
[01:07:58] know, it's such a good game.
[01:08:00] And then they have a sequel, which is a prequel called forever kingdom.
[01:08:04] Oh yeah.
[01:08:04] And I have not played that.
[01:08:07] And it's just, that's that I think ever grace is another one that people need to play and
[01:08:11] that I think should come back.
[01:08:12] And the big tree in Elden ring, the big, you know, yellow tree that looks exactly like
[01:08:20] the millennial tree in ever grace.
[01:08:23] That's cool.
[01:08:23] Like, is it the one in Elden ring?
[01:08:26] Is it, is it the urge tree?
[01:08:28] The one that's in the DLC?
[01:08:30] Well there, I think there's, they're all are trees.
[01:08:33] I'm pretty sure.
[01:08:33] Okay.
[01:08:34] Or something like that.
[01:08:35] I can't remember the Elden ring lore, but it is basically that, but it's just a giant
[01:08:40] golden tree in the center of, of the land in between.
[01:08:43] And it just looks like the thing.
[01:08:46] It's called a millennia tree.
[01:08:47] And that is the one in the beginning of ever grace.
[01:08:52] Ever grace is such a good game.
[01:08:53] It's PS two.
[01:08:54] It's really good.
[01:08:55] It's like short.
[01:08:55] It's like six or eight hours.
[01:08:59] And it's two campaigns where you play as, um, two people, but you have to play.
[01:09:05] You have to do one campaign.
[01:09:06] You have to do the other to unlock the final ending.
[01:09:09] And there's a super dungeon called the shadow tower and it's a call back to shadow tower.
[01:09:13] That's cool as fuck.
[01:09:14] I love when games do that shit.
[01:09:16] And it's another one that's pretty fucking cheap too.
[01:09:18] It's only.
[01:09:19] Yeah, I have it, but mine's broken.
[01:09:21] Oh man.
[01:09:23] Yeah.
[01:09:23] I got it and I put it in.
[01:09:24] It started glitching.
[01:09:25] And I was like, oh, you try putting some toothpaste on it to, um, to fill in all those cracks.
[01:09:31] I didn't, I didn't try the, the toothpaste tech.
[01:09:34] I'm not going to lie, but I, I might try that now.
[01:09:39] You ever try spitting on it?
[01:09:41] Yeah.
[01:09:42] Chew on some bread and then Hawk-a-loogie on it.
[01:09:46] Let's see where that goes.
[01:09:47] Let's see.
[01:09:48] The Hawk 2 on that thing.
[01:09:50] Hawk 2.
[01:09:50] Oh man.
[01:09:51] Hawk 2 on that thing.
[01:09:52] Speaking of Hawk and Tua, holy shit.
[01:09:56] The Otogi series.
[01:09:57] I've never, never played those games.
[01:09:59] I've always wanted to because they're on Xbox, uh, series X and all that.
[01:10:04] Like you can get them, play them.
[01:10:06] And I'm sure they probably look great with all the, the enhancements and shit, but.
[01:10:09] Yep.
[01:10:09] They look really, really cool.
[01:10:11] They're total Xbox exclusive.
[01:10:14] Some, oh yeah.
[01:10:15] Sega published them.
[01:10:16] They look.
[01:10:16] Yeah.
[01:10:17] And they look like legacy of Kane.
[01:10:19] Do they?
[01:10:20] That's what gets me.
[01:10:21] They do like, not the look, but like the gameplay reminds me of legacy of Kane.
[01:10:25] I can definitely see this whole Christ.
[01:10:30] Which is, which is, which is, ooh, goes a little crazy.
[01:10:34] Not going to lie, but it's all Japanese mythology, right?
[01:10:37] Yeah.
[01:10:38] It's, I do hear it's really short.
[01:10:41] I hear it's like four hours.
[01:10:43] That's totally fine with me.
[01:10:44] I can use a short game.
[01:10:45] Which is it.
[01:10:46] Listen, the, I, yeah, I'm okay with short games.
[01:10:49] I can use a short game of my life.
[01:10:50] Yeah.
[01:10:50] You just do a short game one afternoon, rip it.
[01:10:54] Rip it.
[01:10:55] Just rip.
[01:10:55] Just fucking rip a short game, bud.
[01:10:58] It's a, it truly is like, it's nice, but.
[01:11:02] You know, I know that they, the, I mean, there's a, there's a couple of games that I
[01:11:06] want to talk about.
[01:11:06] You can get the moonlight great sword in Otogi one.
[01:11:10] Every, every game you can do.
[01:11:12] Oh, even in, uh, did you get the moonlight great sword in armor core?
[01:11:16] You can.
[01:11:18] Yep.
[01:11:19] It's at the bottom.
[01:11:20] I found it by accident.
[01:11:21] Nobody believes me, which is, makes me so angry.
[01:11:24] Cause I, I said it in the video and people commented and they're like, no, you
[01:11:27] didn't.
[01:11:27] And then my friend was like, you didn't find that by accident.
[01:11:31] And I'm like, yes, I did.
[01:11:31] You go to this like ancient, like ruin.
[01:11:37] And the, there's like a part where you can hit the floor by accident.
[01:11:40] And I did, I sent like a rocket and it blew it up.
[01:11:42] And then you just fall forever to the very bottom of this pit.
[01:11:47] And then you go, and then there's like a beam sword and it's called like Mark.
[01:11:51] Seven.
[01:11:52] That's halo, but Mark something moonlight great sword, or maybe it's just moonlight.
[01:11:58] And it's, it's literally just a laser sword.
[01:12:00] It's so frigging cool.
[01:12:01] That is really, yeah, they have it.
[01:12:02] And they have it in fire fires or Rubicon too.
[01:12:05] Like they have, they always do that.
[01:12:08] Secure.
[01:12:08] Did Secure row have them when the greats, I think Elden ring actually does.
[01:12:12] Elden ring.
[01:12:13] Elden ring does for sure.
[01:12:15] Yep.
[01:12:15] God damn.
[01:12:16] When you get from Ronnie or Ranny or whatever her name was after her question,
[01:12:19] Ronald McDonald, Ronnie.
[01:12:21] Hey, it's me, Ronnie.
[01:12:24] Also.
[01:12:25] I sound like Danny DeVito.
[01:12:28] Dude.
[01:12:30] Let's take an ad break.
[01:12:31] We're about halfway through.
[01:12:32] Let's take an ad break.
[01:12:33] Refresh our palates.
[01:12:34] We'll be right back.
[01:12:51] It's time to thank the patrons.
[01:12:54] Yeah.
[01:12:57] Thank you all so much for sponsoring the show.
[01:12:59] I'm really jacked up on caffeine right now.
[01:13:02] Cause it's eight o'clock in the morning.
[01:13:04] Whatever.
[01:13:04] Hey, thank the patrons.
[01:13:05] Thank you all so much for supporting the show.
[01:13:07] Doing what you do.

[01:13:32] You're all heavily balling.
[01:13:34] Hell yeah.
[01:13:35] Very awesome.
[01:13:36] Thank you so much.

[01:15:12] So, hey, Treaky, you know them, you know frogs, right?
[01:15:15] You know them, you love them.
[01:15:17] I have been around the block, Aaron, and I have seen many frogs in my life.
[01:15:23] But you know what I've been thinking to myself?
[01:15:25] I've been thinking, I see a lot of frogs in real life.
[01:15:28] I could really go for frog channels on the TV.
[01:15:34] Do I have a hippity-hopping new solution?
[01:15:39] Or, no, frog TV.
[01:15:43] It's all frogs 24-7.
[01:15:46] It's all live, live coverage of frogs doing frog things the frogs do.
[01:15:50] Whether they're using their tongues to catch bugs, they're sitting on lily pads, or they're...
[01:15:56] You get to see their little cute butts.
[01:15:59] Because the frog's got cute little butts.
[01:16:01] Little Hank Hill butts.
[01:16:02] Little Hank Hill butts.
[01:16:03] You get to see some of those, the round ones.
[01:16:05] You even get to see the ones that go...
[01:16:07] You know, when they scream at their owners.
[01:16:10] See a bullfrog go like...
[01:16:12] I can't make a bullfrog sound.
[01:16:14] Yeah, they're like a man burger, cheeseburger, Big Mac wubber.
[01:16:16] You know, like that kind of...
[01:16:17] Or the butt...
[01:16:18] Butt!
[01:16:19] What?
[01:16:20] Yeah.
[01:16:22] But then you're off...
[01:16:23] It is...
[01:16:25] Go ahead.
[01:16:25] Go ahead.
[01:16:26] Go ahead.
[01:16:26] No!
[01:16:27] I want to know about your opinions on Frog TV, and if you think that Frog TV is worth the
[01:16:32] subscription of $5.99.
[01:16:34] Oh, that's incredibly affordable.
[01:16:36] Yeah, if you call your cable provider right now, demand...
[01:16:43] Demand Frog TV in the most stern of...
[01:16:47] Fuck.
[01:16:48] In the most stern of manners.
[01:16:49] You say, I want frogs.
[01:16:51] Yes.
[01:16:51] I want frogs.
[01:16:52] I want frogs now.
[01:16:53] I need them right now.
[01:16:54] Now, more than ever in this time in my life, I'm so alone and I need frogs!
[01:17:00] And the...
[01:17:00] I'm all frogged out and I need...
[01:17:02] And I gotta hanker in for some more.
[01:17:04] They're like, Cheryl, please, for the love of God, put the Ambien away.
[01:17:08] We'll get you your fucking frogs.
[01:17:10] Boop!
[01:17:10] And then, yeah, you pay them $6 from your Vanilla Visa debit card.
[01:17:15] And then, uh, bada-bing, bada-boom, you got Frog TV.
[01:17:20] Frog TV.
[01:17:20] An extra...
[01:17:20] Frog TV.
[01:17:21] It's a $5.99 for live frog coverage.
[01:17:24] It's...
[01:17:25] And it is so worth it.
[01:17:27] Frog TV.
[01:17:27] Frog TV.
[01:17:28] All frogs.
[01:17:29] 24-7.
[01:17:30] Get it.
[01:17:31] They've got frog racing.
[01:17:33] They've got frogs.
[01:17:34] They do have frog racing!
[01:17:36] They've got frogs trying to, like, jump up...
[01:17:37] Like, trying to jump up a wall, but then they fail and hit the wall.
[01:17:41] They kind of tumble down a little bit.
[01:17:43] Yep, yep.
[01:17:44] They have the frogs when they have their, um...
[01:17:47] You know, you have your little iPad out and you're playing the little game where the little tiny bugs go over the screen.
[01:17:53] The frogs take their tongues and they stick and they hit the bugs, but it works because it's, like, activated with heat or something.
[01:17:58] They got that, too.
[01:18:00] Oh, hell yeah!
[01:18:01] So, frog gaming channels.
[01:18:04] Awesome!
[01:18:04] Yes!
[01:18:04] It's frog streaming!
[01:18:06] Frog streaming!
[01:18:07] We submitted a new genre of television.
[01:18:10] They've got frog cooking where they have little tiny chef hats.
[01:18:14] It's adorable.
[01:18:15] Then they're just hopping.
[01:18:16] Oh, oh, oh!
[01:18:17] They're hopping...
[01:18:18] They got little French mustaches.
[01:18:20] Oh, oh, oh, oh!
[01:18:22] Oh, oh, oh, oh!
[01:18:23] Vagos!
[01:18:24] They're just hopping all over the stove and the counters.
[01:18:27] There's little tiny footprints from all the flour.
[01:18:31] Like, they're hopping through the flour.
[01:18:33] Oh, it's perfect.
[01:18:34] Chaos, madness even.
[01:18:36] And then there's even...
[01:18:37] Other beauty.
[01:18:38] There's frog poker where they try to play poker, but there's just cards all over the table and they're hopping all over the place.
[01:18:45] And the dealer's just like...
[01:18:46] But they're getting stuck to their little hands.
[01:18:48] And so they're kind of, like, bringing them with them.
[01:18:51] The dealer's like, boys, I'm gonna need you to sit down or I'm gonna have to call this game.
[01:18:57] And it just looks at them and it pops up its neck and goes, ribbit.
[01:19:00] Oh!
[01:19:01] Or my personal favorite...
[01:19:03] Oh, what's the fuck's name in that show again?
[01:19:05] Uh, so...
[01:19:06] So, you've heard of, like, of the real housewives, right?
[01:19:10] The real frog wives.
[01:19:11] Where it's just frogs and like...
[01:19:14] I thought you were gonna go with Tekashi's castle with frogs.
[01:19:17] Frogs.
[01:19:19] The price is right, but it's frogs.
[01:19:22] Come on down.
[01:19:23] You're the next contestant on The Price is Right.
[01:19:25] And there's a frog just like...
[01:19:28] Just like standing there.
[01:19:29] Just kind of chilling.
[01:19:31] Come on down!
[01:19:32] Da-na-na.
[01:19:34] Da-na-da-na.
[01:19:35] It just keeps playing on a loop until the frog finally gets up to where Drew Carey is now.
[01:19:40] Oh, it's Drew.
[01:19:41] Is it Drew Carey?
[01:19:42] No, is he...
[01:19:43] Whose line is it anyway?
[01:19:44] No, he, um...
[01:19:45] He used to do Whose Line, but then...
[01:19:48] They got, uh...
[01:19:49] But now he's on Frog TV.
[01:19:51] Now he's on Frog TV, baby.
[01:19:54] Raking in millions upon billions of dollars.
[01:19:57] It's the next big thing.
[01:19:58] It's the next Time Warner.
[01:20:00] You better watch your ass.
[01:20:02] Whoever runs Time Warner.
[01:20:04] I don't fucking...
[01:20:05] I don't know or give a shit.
[01:20:06] Um...
[01:20:08] But last but not least, they've got...
[01:20:12] Oh, what's another...
[01:20:14] What's another television show we could do with Friends?
[01:20:17] But it's Frogs.
[01:20:18] It's like...
[01:20:19] It's called Frogs.
[01:20:20] F period R period O period G period S.
[01:20:23] Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
[01:20:25] It's like a little couch.
[01:20:26] The frogs dressed up as the friends.
[01:20:28] They're all just looking in different directions.
[01:20:31] So no one told like...
[01:20:33] Clap, clap, clap, clap.
[01:20:34] And then they just hopped all over the fountain.
[01:20:37] Da-da-da-da-da-da.
[01:20:37] Yep.
[01:20:38] Oh my god.
[01:20:39] Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
[01:20:42] Oh shit, Frog TV.
[01:20:44] I love it.
[01:20:44] What's...
[01:20:46] Before we let the listeners go, what's your favorite show on Frog TV?
[01:20:51] Takashi's Castle, but with frogs.
[01:20:53] And that's what it's called.
[01:20:54] It doesn't have any other...
[01:20:55] It is just Takashi's Castle, but with frogs.
[01:20:57] But with frogs.
[01:20:59] Oh!
[01:21:00] The final one.
[01:21:01] It's uh...
[01:21:02] For Kashi's Castle.
[01:21:03] So...
[01:21:04] Anyway.
[01:21:05] So...
[01:21:06] So we've got like...
[01:21:07] You know the shows like...
[01:21:09] Like Wipeout, or like American Ninja Warrior.
[01:21:12] Oh yes.
[01:21:12] Those like obstacle course ones, but...
[01:21:14] American Frog Warrior.
[01:21:16] Oh, there we go.
[01:21:18] Perfect.
[01:21:18] Cool obstacle courses, cool frogs.
[01:21:20] They win a million dollars.
[01:21:21] Yeah.
[01:21:22] Like...
[01:21:23] A million frog bucks?
[01:21:30] I don't know what they're gonna do with it, but they...
[01:21:33] We've given it to them.
[01:21:33] Because of how lucrative Frog TV has become, we may...
[01:21:36] We have to make their own currency, like, for them, so that they can understand.
[01:21:41] It's got a little...
[01:21:42] And we just like shovel it into their like ponds.
[01:21:47] It's just got like a random frog face on it.
[01:21:50] He's just like...
[01:21:52] Top hat.
[01:21:53] A monocle.
[01:21:55] Billions upon billions of frog bucks.
[01:21:57] Oh my god.
[01:21:58] We could make an empire.
[01:22:00] It could happen.
[01:22:02] Oh my god.
[01:22:04] It's the 590...
[01:22:05] Thanks for sponsoring this episode, frogs.
[01:22:08] It really means a lot to us.
[01:22:22] Welcome back.
[01:22:23] I have another game.
[01:22:24] That is a little crazy.
[01:22:26] How many frog bucks is it worth?
[01:22:28] It's worth at least 500.
[01:22:31] Oh shit, okay.
[01:22:32] At least 500.
[01:22:33] And I don't know if you've ever heard of it before.
[01:22:35] And it's kind of obscure.
[01:22:36] It's called The Adventures of Cookie and Cream.
[01:22:39] Again, only heard of it because of Nitro Red.
[01:22:41] Oh shit, did you do a video on it too?
[01:22:43] No, he just...
[01:22:44] He briefly mentioned it on a...
[01:22:46] Oh.
[01:22:47] On something, but...
[01:22:48] It's also...
[01:22:49] It's really unique because I find that like FromSoftware did a lot of kids games, I guess.
[01:22:56] What it seems like they were kids games.
[01:22:57] They did like Thousand Island.
[01:22:59] There's a ton of them that did.
[01:23:01] Thousand Island?
[01:23:01] Like the dressing?
[01:23:02] It was called Thighs...
[01:23:03] Thighs.
[01:23:04] Damn, Thighs Island.
[01:23:05] Thighs.
[01:23:05] Thighs Island.
[01:23:06] Sign me up, brother.
[01:23:08] Sign me up, my man.
[01:23:11] Thousand Land is what it was.
[01:23:13] And it was kind of like a lemon situation.
[01:23:17] Oh.
[01:23:19] Lemons, you say.
[01:23:20] And it looks...
[01:23:21] I mean, it's a little different.
[01:23:22] It's its own thing.
[01:23:23] Oh, I see what you mean.
[01:23:24] What the fuck is this?
[01:23:25] Dude, I don't know.
[01:23:26] I've never even seen gameplay of this other than the screenshots they have of it.
[01:23:29] And it's like something that I really want to play, if not for the novelty of it.
[01:23:35] But they did that.
[01:23:37] And then they also did Cookies and Cream.
[01:23:39] Eventually Cookies and Cream, which is a solo or split screen game in which you control two characters.
[01:23:46] You're playing solo, you control two characters on the dual analog stick.
[01:23:51] It's PS2.
[01:23:52] And you have to control each one with different...
[01:23:54] Each side.
[01:23:55] And then face buttons.
[01:23:57] And it's a puzzle solving.
[01:23:59] Right?
[01:24:00] It's almost like a Mario Party game.
[01:24:02] It's what it feels like to me.
[01:24:05] And that one's really unique too.
[01:24:07] But it also, like...
[01:24:08] I don't feel like...
[01:24:10] Other than the fact that they made it,
[01:24:12] I feel like it doesn't really have any bearing on them as a company.
[01:24:18] No.
[01:24:20] It didn't progress them.
[01:24:22] They didn't take anything from it.
[01:24:24] They just made it.
[01:24:25] And it just is a weird enigma that is from software.
[01:24:32] That they made it.
[01:24:34] Yeah, they...
[01:24:35] Same goes for Lost Kingdoms.
[01:24:39] Because I don't see, like...
[01:24:41] Except for maybe how the four cards...
[01:24:46] You kind of have the HUD layout in Dark Souls and shit.
[01:24:50] Where it has a little triangle pattern.
[01:24:52] Like maybe kind of that...
[01:24:53] I bet.
[01:24:54] I bet that's where they did get that from.
[01:24:56] I bet.
[01:24:56] Because they take design choices from all these games.
[01:24:59] And they do show them.
[01:25:01] They show up in some form or the other.
[01:25:04] I mean, it's kind of natural to see a HUD like that.
[01:25:06] But like at the same time, I just like to believe.
[01:25:09] You know?
[01:25:09] That that is from Lost Kingdoms.
[01:25:14] It just works so naturally.
[01:25:17] Did you know about Kuan?
[01:25:20] You do know about Kuan.
[01:25:22] I did.
[01:25:22] I...
[01:25:23] Holy shit.
[01:25:24] Sorry, I'm going through puberty.
[01:25:25] Sorry for that voice crack.
[01:25:26] Welcome back to...
[01:25:27] Welcome back to frigging grade three, dude.
[01:25:29] Yeah.
[01:25:30] What...
[01:25:30] We talking about Kuan, the skilly PS2 game?
[01:25:34] That's cute.
[01:25:34] I know it's really expensive.
[01:25:36] I haven't played it though.
[01:25:37] It is...
[01:25:40] It could...
[01:25:41] I think it's amazing.
[01:25:42] I think it's a fantastic game.
[01:25:44] It's a Resident Evil clone.
[01:25:46] Oh shit.
[01:25:47] Is what it is.
[01:25:47] Is what it feels like to me.
[01:25:49] To say that is not...
[01:25:50] You know, it has its own different things.
[01:25:51] But it feels like a Resident Evil clone.
[01:25:54] I did do a video about it.
[01:25:57] And...
[01:25:58] You...
[01:25:59] Play as like a shrine maiden named Utsuki.
[01:26:02] I think her name is.
[01:26:03] And a novice Omni-Oji named Sakuya.
[01:26:06] And there's three different campaigns.
[01:26:08] But you play as two of them at first.
[01:26:10] And they're both different sides of...
[01:26:11] You're basically in a mansion.
[01:26:13] In the...
[01:26:14] Hedo period.
[01:26:16] I think it's called the Hedo period of Japan.
[01:26:18] And there's this...
[01:26:19] Manor.
[01:26:20] This estate.
[01:26:21] And it's been infested with like demons.
[01:26:25] Nice.
[01:26:26] Or like...
[01:26:27] They're more like ghosts.
[01:26:28] But they're...
[01:26:28] But anyway.
[01:26:30] And you...
[01:26:30] You're a shrine maiden.
[01:26:31] And you're like so scared.
[01:26:33] And you're like walking around.
[01:26:35] And you're trying to...
[01:26:35] You know...
[01:26:37] Not...
[01:26:38] You know...
[01:26:39] Get killed by these things.
[01:26:40] Your little Japanese pants.
[01:26:41] Your little Japanese pants.
[01:26:42] Yeah.
[01:26:42] I shit your Japanese pants.
[01:26:49] I don't know.
[01:26:50] I don't know.
[01:26:50] You're in your Japans, dude.
[01:26:51] You're shitting your Japans.
[01:26:53] I feel like that's...
[01:27:01] Yeah.
[01:27:02] You...
[01:27:03] Yes.
[01:27:04] You are.
[01:27:04] Coo-on, everybody.
[01:27:06] Coo-on.
[01:27:06] There's nothing more to say about that game.
[01:27:09] Coo-on.
[01:27:10] You're shitting your Japans.
[01:27:12] Shitting your Japans.
[01:27:13] Shitting your Japans.
[01:27:16] Marty.
[01:27:17] I shit in my Japans.
[01:27:18] I need a new pair of Japans from the dry cleaners.
[01:27:21] Marty.
[01:27:23] Marty.
[01:27:25] Marty.
[01:27:26] I shit my Japans again.
[01:27:29] I can't breathe.
[01:27:32] Holy shit.
[01:27:36] I can't breathe.
[01:27:36] Oh my god.
[01:27:37] I...
[01:27:37] There's nothing more to say about the game.
[01:27:39] It's a Resident Evil clone.
[01:27:40] That's it.
[01:27:41] That's it.
[01:27:42] It was great.
[01:27:43] It's fantastic.
[01:27:44] Dude, I didn't know Metal Wolf Chaos was developed by From Software.
[01:27:49] Bro!
[01:27:49] That game is the tits.
[01:27:51] Dude, you friggin...
[01:27:52] You're the President of the United States driving a fucking giant mech trying to save the world.
[01:27:59] It is...
[01:28:01] Fucking amazing.
[01:28:02] And I love it.
[01:28:03] I love every bit of it.
[01:28:05] I love...
[01:28:05] They have so many mech games.
[01:28:07] They have a game called...
[01:28:09] I'll tell you what it is in a second when I find it.
[01:28:12] It's called something grit.
[01:28:14] Or grid.
[01:28:15] And...
[01:28:16] Oh, I just saw it.
[01:28:18] Um...
[01:28:18] Frame?
[01:28:19] Grime?
[01:28:20] Frame grit.
[01:28:20] Gride.
[01:28:21] Frame gride.
[01:28:22] What a weird name.
[01:28:23] Yeah.
[01:28:24] That game apparently slaps.
[01:28:26] But it's just Armored Core, but like you're a fantasy mech?
[01:28:29] Hell yeah.
[01:28:30] And...
[01:28:30] Fantasy mech.
[01:28:31] Yeah, you're like a friggin' fantasy mech and you gotta...
[01:28:35] Friggin' fantasy mech.
[01:28:36] Go fight fantasy other fantasy mechs.
[01:28:39] Oh, I see exactly what you mean from these screenshots.
[01:28:41] That's dope as shit!
[01:28:42] Dude, it's cool.
[01:28:44] I know...
[01:28:44] It's hearsay.
[01:28:45] People say it's good.
[01:28:46] I don't know if it actually is good.
[01:28:48] But...
[01:28:49] I, um...
[01:28:50] I definitely looked at it and I said, you know what?
[01:28:52] That name sounds stupid, so it must be a good game.
[01:28:55] It's...
[01:28:55] It's just like that one developer, like Infogrames.
[01:28:59] What?
[01:29:01] Who?
[01:29:02] You ever heard of Infogrames?
[01:29:05] Maybe?
[01:29:07] Hang on.
[01:29:08] Hang on.
[01:29:09] Infogrames?
[01:29:10] Okay, you're gonna send it to me.
[01:29:12] Oh, Alone in the Dark?
[01:29:13] Okay.
[01:29:14] Neverwinter Nights?
[01:29:15] Freddy Fish?
[01:29:17] Freddy Fish?
[01:29:18] Enter the...
[01:29:19] Oh!
[01:29:20] Oh!
[01:29:20] Death Cars?
[01:29:22] Okay.
[01:29:23] They're...
[01:29:24] Wait, did they do Rollercoaster Tycoon?
[01:29:27] Mmm...
[01:29:27] Yes, they did!
[01:29:29] No way!
[01:29:30] Holy shit!
[01:29:31] And two!
[01:29:31] Okay.
[01:29:33] What's this?
[01:29:33] I don't know, publisher.
[01:29:35] Hasbro Interactive.
[01:29:36] They did Kudelka?
[01:29:37] What the fuck?
[01:29:39] Have you heard of Kudelka?
[01:29:41] Oh, I...
[01:29:41] Is this a fighting...
[01:29:43] This is...
[01:29:43] I...
[01:29:44] Someone recommended this game to me.
[01:29:46] Kudelka?
[01:29:47] They said you should...
[01:29:47] They said you should do a video on it.
[01:29:49] And it was like a fighting game.
[01:29:50] My man.
[01:29:51] It is a survival horror turn-based RPG.
[01:29:55] And it's awesome.
[01:29:56] Oh!
[01:29:56] Okay.
[01:29:57] It's so fucking cool.
[01:29:58] Okay.
[01:29:59] Okay!
[01:30:01] The enemy designs are fucking grotesque.
[01:30:04] Oh my...
[01:30:04] Dude, I might...
[01:30:06] I might fuck around with that.
[01:30:07] Maybe next Halloween.
[01:30:08] If I can finally get a video out on Halloween.
[01:30:11] That'd be nice.
[01:30:13] Okay.
[01:30:14] I'm just gonna stack another link in here for ya.
[01:30:16] For your viewing leisure whenever.
[01:30:18] Cause the enemy designs in Kudelka are just like...
[01:30:21] They're...
[01:30:21] Whoa!
[01:30:23] They're pretty grotesque.
[01:30:24] This girl right here, she's got like backwards legs.
[01:30:28] Backwards legs.
[01:30:29] What the frick?
[01:30:31] Her name's Elena?
[01:30:33] Second form?
[01:30:34] First...
[01:30:34] No, it's the same thing.
[01:30:36] Why can't I go back?
[01:30:37] Oh, it's the final boss.
[01:30:39] I'm gonna...
[01:30:40] Okay.
[01:30:42] Um...
[01:30:44] Gargoyle?
[01:30:45] Dude, these are sick.
[01:30:48] Okay.
[01:30:48] I'm on board.
[01:30:49] I can't find the one I was looking for.
[01:30:52] There's one that's like...
[01:30:54] The bottom part is like a...
[01:30:57] I don't know how to describe it.
[01:30:58] I almost called it a turtle, but it's not a turtle.
[01:31:00] It just has like blade arms and shit.
[01:31:01] It reminds me of like the...
[01:31:02] Parasite, the Maxim kind of shit, but uh...
[01:31:05] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:31:06] Yeah.
[01:31:07] I like Inverse.
[01:31:09] Because he's literally just an upside...
[01:31:12] Upside down human.
[01:31:16] And...
[01:31:16] Oh, yeah.
[01:31:17] Oh, yeah.
[01:31:17] Sorry, he's an upside down human with three heads.
[01:31:20] And a gun.
[01:31:21] He's just doing it.
[01:31:22] Oh, wait, does he have a gun?
[01:31:24] I didn't notice that.
[01:31:25] A fucking cat!
[01:31:25] Look at him!
[01:31:27] Oh, dude, yeah.
[01:31:29] What is the opposite of human?
[01:31:32] Upside down.
[01:31:34] He's like, okay.
[01:31:36] Okay.
[01:31:38] Hands in the air!
[01:31:40] Put him up, put him up, put him up!
[01:31:41] I'm feet in the air!
[01:31:44] Imagine walking into him in a dark alley.
[01:31:46] No, I don't...
[01:31:47] Some motherfucker doing a handstand, or headstand, sorry, headstand.
[01:31:50] He's pointing a gun at you.
[01:31:51] He's got both hands for you, he's doing a headstand.
[01:31:54] The funniest part is like, it's not that he's upside down of the three heads.
[01:31:58] The threatening thing is he has a gun.
[01:32:03] It's like...
[01:32:04] They were cooking when they made him.
[01:32:07] Their brains were fucking cooked when they made him?
[01:32:10] They were smoking a little something, I'll tell you what.
[01:32:14] Oh, man.
[01:32:15] Oh my god, dude.
[01:32:16] Dude!
[01:32:16] From Software also made Enchanted Arms, which is really cool because...
[01:32:22] I think I messaged you this on either Twitter or Blue Sky.
[01:32:26] I remember watching the trailer for this game on Attack of the Show back in the good old days.
[01:32:32] Yes!
[01:32:32] Like 2000 whatever, on G4.
[01:32:35] And the cinematic trailer was just awesome.
[01:32:38] It blew my little kid brains and really made me want to buy the game.
[01:32:42] I never did buy it though, but it looks cool.
[01:32:44] You never did get it.
[01:32:44] It is...
[01:32:46] My friend described it to me as a JRPG with like Pokemon elements, but it's like grid-based combat.
[01:32:55] Oh yeah, because you make golems?
[01:32:59] Yeah, you make golems or something like that.
[01:33:01] And then you take them and...
[01:33:04] Oh!
[01:33:06] It's like, yeah, it's...
[01:33:08] It goes a little hard.
[01:33:10] But apparently, the voice acting is abysmal.
[01:33:14] But probably in the most...
[01:33:16] When people say voice acting is bad, I just think that means it's endearing.
[01:33:21] You probably listen to it and you're probably like,
[01:33:23] Mmm, this actually is a lot better than people say it is.
[01:33:26] But it probably is kind of goofy.
[01:33:28] So...
[01:33:28] Does that even work?
[01:33:29] Why does it say no cookie?
[01:33:31] Oh, what the fuck?
[01:33:32] That's fine.
[01:33:32] I can just copy and paste it.
[01:33:34] It does say .exe, which is kind of weird, but I guess I'm going to punch it in right now.
[01:33:38] I forgot about this guy.
[01:33:40] What the fuck is that?
[01:33:42] So I did...
[01:33:44] It's crazy pizza!
[01:33:45] Oh man.
[01:33:46] So I do remember now looking up a little bit about this game, because it was in some like article I read a while ago.
[01:33:53] And there's a lot of really cool monster designs in this game.
[01:33:56] So I think I do need to check out Enchanted Arms.
[01:34:00] Fucking crazy pizza, dude.
[01:34:01] Check it out.
[01:34:01] Fuck yeah.
[01:34:02] Holy shit, dude.
[01:34:04] This is the best creature I've ever seen in my life.
[01:34:09] He's like...
[01:34:10] To describe him, he's a man made of crust with a pizza head that's not full, by the way.
[01:34:20] The pizza head itself is cut into sixths.
[01:34:23] And he's wearing overalls and a pizza hat that says IP?
[01:34:32] Or just is it like a weird P for pizza?
[01:34:37] Oh!
[01:34:38] And he's got a shrimp for a nose.
[01:34:40] Oh my god.
[01:34:42] Which is fucking weird!
[01:34:44] And pepperoni eyes!
[01:34:46] Dude!
[01:34:47] And he's got like ketchup mouth.
[01:34:49] Ketchup wiggle mouth.
[01:34:51] He's adorable.
[01:34:52] The fact that he's got a ketchup mouth is so stupid!
[01:34:56] And he's got two of them!
[01:34:59] Oh, it's supposed to be like an open mouth.
[01:35:03] My god!
[01:35:04] I gotta play this game.
[01:35:05] If not just for myself.
[01:35:07] Just for crazy pizza.
[01:35:08] Just for crazy pizza.
[01:35:10] Cause I gotta use him.
[01:35:12] Just for crazy pizza.
[01:35:13] Now you've spoiled like 15 of the games.
[01:35:20] Not 15, but a couple of the games.
[01:35:22] Oh yeah!
[01:35:23] The quiz show.
[01:35:23] Let's do the quiz show.
[01:35:25] Before we go any further.
[01:35:27] I wanna shout out two people that if people are really interested in From Software Games.
[01:35:33] My buddy Majular.
[01:35:35] He's a pretty big YouTuber.
[01:35:37] I don't know why I didn't put that in there.
[01:35:38] He makes like really long, intelligent, digestible, the retrospects on he has done the full Kingsfield series and Shadow Tower.
[01:35:51] And I'm sure he'll do other ones at some point.
[01:35:54] Hell yeah.
[01:35:54] He's really good.
[01:35:55] And then I know Jostreif Hayes is also, he's been making retro Kingsfield stuff too.
[01:36:01] And he's also a great person who I've only exchanged a few words with, but like, he's really good.
[01:36:08] And those are two people who like you should watch their stuff because they're like, like, if you watch my videos, you're gonna get like more.
[01:36:17] Haha.
[01:36:18] Kind of goofy.
[01:36:19] But you watch their stuff and you're like, oh shit, I know everything about the background of these games.
[01:36:24] And I know what this game is all about.
[01:36:25] And it's like super intelligent.
[01:36:27] It's the only way I can really think.
[01:36:28] But so that's just a little plug for them.
[01:36:30] I don't know if I was even allowed doing that.
[01:36:32] No, you're good, man.
[01:36:34] Okay. Yeah.
[01:36:34] Everything's allowed here at Super Pond Saga.
[01:36:36] Even Frog Bucks.
[01:36:37] Dude, Frog Bucks.
[01:36:39] I was...
[01:36:39] Baby's Weekend Games.
[01:36:41] I was going through Majular's feed and I saw this one video about every 3DO RPG.
[01:36:47] So, shout out to fellow Super Pod Network member, 3DO Experience, a podcast all about the fucking 3DO.
[01:36:55] Damn.
[01:36:55] In case anybody gives a goddamn.
[01:36:57] I mean, it's awesome.
[01:36:58] It's a good show because the 3DO is weird as fuck.
[01:37:01] Yeah, oh yeah.
[01:37:02] Super obscure and everything.
[01:37:04] Yeah.
[01:37:04] Listen, that's what I live for.
[01:37:06] I live for that shit.
[01:37:10] Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
[01:37:11] Welcome to...
[01:37:13] TRIKI's Tricky Quiz Corner.
[01:37:15] A new segment here on Super Pod Saga where I, TRIKI, quiz our holacious host on his obscure gaming knowledge.
[01:37:24] today's quiz retro from soft or not i think you're gonna do very well i think you're gonna do
[01:37:32] exceptionally well but viewers who now probably will also do very well make sure you take a crack
[01:37:39] at this as well leave a comment on just how many you got right where comments are applicable
[01:37:44] and these are all based on developer not on publisher because there are games that are
[01:37:50] published by from soft but not developed by from soft so let's get let's let's aaron let's dip our
[01:37:56] toes let's dip our toes in a little bit and get a feel take off my gengar slippers take off your
[01:38:01] gengar slippers beautiful i got a haunter you can barely see him i got a haunter right up there
[01:38:06] oh my god beautiful love gengar i love the whole i just i never got a gengar one but anyway um we're
[01:38:13] we're gonna go into question number one now everyone you better put down your lego ninjago
[01:38:25] or jago whatever it's called and pick up your ninjato for this question because it's coming at
[01:38:33] you live is it a retro from software game or not tenchu stealth assassins 1998 stealth action game ps1
[01:38:43] gameplay includes being a ninja stealth action beheading shoguns or beheading ninja blade a 2009
[01:38:57] action rpg for the xbox 360 featuring a free-falling motorcycle riding ninja himself ken ogawa with
[01:39:05] gameplay similar to devil may cry or ninja gaiden featuring ryu hayabusa tenchu stealth assassins or
[01:39:15] ninja blade i know it's for sure not ninja gaiden well ninja guy sorry i those are like it's ninja
[01:39:25] blade or tenchu okay those are your options i'm pretty sure it's ninja blade because i think
[01:39:33] i think tenchu is koei tekmo i think bingo it's correct yeah it's correct it is in fact
[01:39:43] ninja blade tenchu stealth assassins uh was developed by it was it was published by activision
[01:39:51] and sony music japan uh is who did it in japan but it was developed by a choir
[01:39:58] who are the developers between akaba's strip or akaba's trip uh and i just found out also while
[01:40:05] doing this they also are the people who helped develop uh octopath traveler so that's kind of
[01:40:11] that's kind of nuts but yes ninja blade um short game amazing game i was obsessed with that game when
[01:40:18] i played it um little fun fact here they from software actually published tenchu a lot of tenchu
[01:40:25] games and tenchu was they were working on a tenchu game with activision and it turned into sekuro
[01:40:33] that's yeah that's awesome holy shit yeah i'm pretty sure acquire uh developed the new mario
[01:40:41] and luigi game oh shit like brother ship yeah i'm pretty sure oh wow okay okay well let's do
[01:40:48] question two aaron let me ask you a question before i get ask you questions that i'm gonna ask you
[01:40:55] for five you're gonna get five frog bucks you're gonna get this one right because it's for 500 frog
[01:41:00] bucks you're gonna get this one right because you've already answered the question papa
[01:41:04] it's a brand new lily pad are you feeling lucky punk what do cowboys and little magic magical boys
[01:41:13] have in common arms is it retro from software wild arms 1997 ps1 hit jrpg basically based in the
[01:41:25] wasteland world of phil gaia or enchanted arms the grid based rpg 360 featuring crazy pizza
[01:41:36] oh grid based combat system i think i already said that which one is it enchanted arms maybe we should
[01:41:45] have started with the quiz bingo we should have started with okay okay you know what you know what
[01:41:54] though this one might actually we might actually get the viewers might get to hear i'm gonna do it
[01:41:58] at the end if we don't get to hear the viewers might get to hear what happens we get this wrong because
[01:42:01] this one 10 hut soldier we're going into the trenches for this one trenches of the connect that is
[01:42:12] oh is it retro from software this depends if you think 2012 is retro um but binary domain
[01:42:24] 2012 third person shooter for the xbox 360 connect where you play uh in a post global warming setting
[01:42:31] where androids take over the world or something and you have to command your troops with your voice
[01:42:37] on the connect or steel battalion heavy armor a 2012 action game naturally played on the connect
[01:42:46] uh and he takes place in the modern era and the whole game is you are in a cockpit
[01:42:53] of a bipedal tank and you have to like pull levers and lift gates and shoot things
[01:43:00] all on the connect steel battalion binary domain what's from software is it oh man i don't know
[01:43:09] is this steel battalion bingo
[01:43:14] yes it is okay it is um it was developed by from software but published by capcom uh and apparently
[01:43:23] it was terrible oh because because i guess i guess the like way you're supposed to like move everything
[01:43:32] and pull the levers and stuff like that was very precise but the connect sucked so it like you couldn't
[01:43:39] do it so people were saying it was pretty bad oh yeah that's the game this is the one on xbox that
[01:43:47] also had like the gigantic like cockpit controller thing as well too oh they had a freaking cockpit
[01:43:53] controller my man hold show me that i want to see that big cockpit controller put it in my i want to see
[01:44:03] that in my mold right now brother dude it's gigantic dude what the frick dude it does it fills up my whole
[01:44:11] page i can't even see it i want to know i'm on zoom 250 that's why this is a controller first this is
[01:44:18] first steel battalion yeah dude sub monitor select fucking cockpit hatch there's an ignition
[01:44:26] holy shit how much do you think this goes for there's like a new like a nuke button
[01:44:33] is there really yeah there's like it's like it got like caution lines around it and the glass thing
[01:44:39] it's like looks like something like the president of the united states would flip up and they go are
[01:44:42] you sure you're going to do this that's exactly back now that's what he used in metal wolf chaos
[01:44:48] yes maybe it's like okay for the people who are here it's basically three pedals you have your go
[01:44:55] i don't know what the middle one does and probably your brake and then you have two levers and then
[01:45:01] like an accelerator that you like push up and then there's like 500 buttons and a dial in the middle
[01:45:08] in the sides and then at the very right side of the other lever there's a nuke button that if you
[01:45:15] clicked it would clearly set off some sort of self-destruct sequence i think i believe it
[01:45:20] actually says something and i'm gonna zoom in right now look over at it it says it doesn't say
[01:45:28] anything it looks like it says east cmd i don't know what that means but basically this entire thing
[01:45:35] is like it's like a desk and playing the connect playing this game with this why would you do such
[01:45:43] a thing why would you do such a thing how much does this cost oh there we go i found one for 400
[01:45:51] 400 bucks i'd buy that if i had room for it if my my office wasn't so small and filled up with like
[01:45:56] workout stuff and junk that i use for videos i would 110 buy that that is crazy i'm curious now as to like
[01:46:06] if you can play steel battalion with a regular xbox controller or if it has to be with that gigantic
[01:46:14] monstrosity i don't know if it does that's probably why it didn't play it didn't sell so well i do have
[01:46:20] a bonus round but you know the answer to it hit me hit me with that cockpit baby we hey we started in
[01:46:28] japan we started shitting our japans so we're ending in our japans let's go back to the mid-hayan period
[01:46:40] japan where samurai roamed the land oh this is so good yeah otogi myth of demons a 2012 legacy
[01:46:54] or not legacy of kane 2012 action role-playing game released on the original xbox or warriors
[01:47:00] orochi a hack and slash ps2 game uh not just like dynasty warriors but also containing characters
[01:47:06] you can buy or play as from dynasty warriors and samurai warriors series oh totally know the end
[01:47:15] bingo got it baby you got it warriors orochi is quite literally just a spin-off of the dynasty
[01:47:23] warrior games it's made by koai tecmo and um if it was uh if aaron got any of them wrong he would
[01:47:32] have heard this thing that i worked i spent a good 45 minutes making and it's the tricky
[01:47:39] failure sound
[01:47:47] we can still do it give me a question and i'll fail it and then we can we can put it to practical use
[01:47:52] okay okay okay uh well fuck now i'm okay who developed the the bionicle gamecube game
[01:48:01] was it uh a from software b nintendo or c uh argonaut games
[01:48:13] infograms it's infograms it's wrong it was argonaut games
[01:48:21] i tried i tried oh it's good though dude we'll have to have you back on again and do like another
[01:48:30] trivia thing this time we'll start with it we'll start with a trivia and i'll add more questions
[01:48:35] than making it a 50 50 just in case i had a great time i i've i love it's also good for me because i
[01:48:45] i always like i'm not worried but i'm always like i have not trouble either i just i'm not i'm never on
[01:48:52] like podcasts or anything so like i always want to be and i just don't know if i'm good at talking
[01:48:59] no so great man it's i mean i feel like i'm i stumble my way through every single episode but uh
[01:49:07] then they turn out right it's part of it dude it's just part of it you know we ain't nothing no thing
[01:49:11] i'm not like worried i'm just you know i just like the i like and i like coming on and talking and
[01:49:17] like i said ever since you guys had mike on that's when i started listening because i obviously didn't
[01:49:23] know you guys were around until he promoted you guys and then i was like fuck yeah and so i just
[01:49:27] listened to your guys's stuff while at work and uh i've just finished them the kirby oh the robobot
[01:49:35] yeah i just sorry kirby mecha salt yeah why didn't i name it that fuck kirby steel battalion
[01:49:42] can i can we like run back to the show notes real quick and just talk about how you have potential
[01:49:48] title everybody loves jogurt oh yeah that was from we um the next episode that's coming out is about
[01:49:57] shining force and oh yeah yeah yogurt the little gopher guy okay there we go fair enough forgot to
[01:50:03] delete that i thought that was about us and i was like i don't know what you have so many names you
[01:50:10] could have shit in your japan's you could have frog bucks oh dude frog bucks is so good
[01:50:18] japan's japan's wait 500 delicious frog 500 delicious frog bucks oh my god there's so many different
[01:50:32] things baby suika game baby's first tetris or whatever the fuck yeah yeah we got a lot of stuff it's good
[01:50:47] this is the latest i've stayed up in uh years i'm not even fucking that's not true i stayed up pretty uh
[01:50:53] pretty late but it's almost 12 for me oh shit yeah yeah i'm tired oh shit but i'm having a good time
[01:51:02] i had so much fun it was so good it was good that like you know how sometimes you talk to people it's
[01:51:07] like you're kind of like i don't know you have trouble talking to them yeah i didn't have trouble
[01:51:13] talking to you it's all good hell yeah man random recommended games i'm gonna promote a
[01:51:24] promote a mobile game i think i'm gonna promote pokemon pocket hell yeah that was a total curveball
[01:51:30] that was absolutely like i've been playing a lot of like vampire survivors and balatro
[01:51:35] and like i just finished dragon dogma 2 all those recommend all those games but nothing has consumed my
[01:51:41] life more than playing pokemon pocket right now and it's wild because i didn't even like the pokemon
[01:51:48] card game until now like i've collected them i just never played it i've i keep seeing the goddamn game
[01:51:55] all over blue sky and twitter and shit people have like the cool foil cards they'll show off it'll be
[01:52:00] like a squirtle but he's doing a sick kick flip over vladimir pudin or something yeah yeah that one's
[01:52:06] really rare but it's really it's really cool and that's like the those are like the interactive cards
[01:52:12] like i pulled two interactive mutus like doubles which is crazy okay and i'm downloading this right
[01:52:18] now dude download it and what it is it's the pokemon card game but it's the light version of it
[01:52:24] so like you have 20 cards you don't have any energies because energies are given to you every turn
[01:52:29] and all the decks right now are like there's a meta mewtwo deck which is like the one i run but i also
[01:52:36] run like a dragon knight deck and like they're all that's cool dude the dragon knight but they're all
[01:52:41] balanced you can fight any deck and still have a chance of winning i mean a lot of it is luck
[01:52:48] there's a lot of coin flips and like a lot of drawing the right things at the right time so like it's not
[01:52:54] like it's not like yugioh where it's like you have an engine that needs a certain sequence of things
[01:52:59] that's gonna happen and you'll take your 20 minute turn and do it this is like you pull your hand
[01:53:05] 20 turns dude it's not like magic where there's just so much fucking shit going on i'm not saying
[01:53:11] i love yugioh i love magic i think those games are perfect but i'm just saying like this is a very good
[01:53:15] for beginners too like it is so nice and they set you up they start making you pull from all the
[01:53:21] different packs and then you eventually unlock solo battle mode because you don't battle for the
[01:53:26] first little bit you have to do the tutorial first which is just about pulling cards there's an event
[01:53:31] going on right now ex lapras that's fucking sick i don't know dog i'm just saying pokemon pocket
[01:53:39] play it try it out give it a whirl i'm gonna i'm gonna give it a whirl eat a whirl no fuck poly
[01:53:47] i was gonna try to pivot that into a poly world joke but i fucked it up so bad i'll give it a whirl
[01:53:52] eep you should just kept it at that that would be perfect god damn it
[01:54:03] my random recommended game is uh i've been playing a lot of neo geo pocket color shit
[01:54:08] uh metal slug first mission is really good it's just i tweeted this out like a while ago too
[01:54:15] it's insane how they were able to just pack and condense metal slug into a handheld game
[01:54:21] but it's still really fucking metal sluggy as shit you still run and gun um you still have all sorts of
[01:54:28] cool vehicles and power-ups and shit that you can pick up and the levels there's all sorts of different
[01:54:33] paths you can take from like one area to the next and then to get to the next level let's fun game
[01:54:39] it's awesome dude yeah it sounds it i man i love i love the neo geo i love metal slug bingo
[01:54:49] thank you thank you it's so good rocket launcher it's the best man
[01:54:59] oh shit
[01:55:03] fuck what the what's the iowa what's the iowa thing that people say when the incense is showing in
[01:55:09] okay well she doesn't uh she's like what the fuck do you mean i'm trying to think what my mom
[01:55:14] always says when she's like she tries to like end a conversation but then it ends up going again
[01:55:20] and again and again um my dad literally that's what he does he goes yeah yeah yeah and then he walks away
[01:55:30] you can just end it like that we can just end the podcast like that end it with the tim allen grunt
