[00:00:00] What were we talking about? What did I say before we got on here? Wiggly Dickly? What did I say?

[00:00:04] Oh yeah, Wiggly Wieners.

[00:00:05] We were talking about...

[00:00:05] Wiggly Wieners.

[00:00:06] Yeah, we were talking about if there's a... We should just start with all of our podcast homies. We'll start a hot dog chain called Wiggly Wieners. That'd be cool.

[00:00:16] I like it. I would eat at Wiggly Wieners.

[00:00:20] Wiggly Wiener?

[00:00:21] Yeah, Wiggly Wieners. It would have to have like the hot dog bun with like the... The hot dog has to have a face though. Like it has to be a personified like, you know.

[00:00:30] A face? What?

[00:00:31] Yeah, the hot dog has to have a face.

[00:00:33] Oh, like with ketchup?

[00:00:34] Like the...

[00:00:35] No, like a person, like a face. You ever see like Sausage Party or something like that? Like, you know, like it's an actual like talking like, you know.

[00:00:43] Yeah, okay.

[00:00:44] So I have an idea. Have Bill narrate the ad like Stanley Parable, put Tommy in a hot dog costume and have Thrak try to eat him.

[00:00:58] And then sort of make it like a Tom and Jerry type situation, but Bill's narrating the entire time.

[00:01:04] Bill's drunk as fuck so he just goes, uh, uh, uh...

[00:01:11] Why do I feel like Tommy would enjoy this the most? I don't know why.

[00:01:16] Yeah.

[00:01:17] I just feel like that's his, that's his jam.

[00:01:19] He's pretty fucking unhinged man.

[00:01:21] Years ago, I was Chinese.

[00:01:25] What it do everybody? It's me, Aaron. I got that tiger's blood in me and you're listening to Super Pod Saga.

[00:01:47] Uh, welcome back to Super Pod Saga everybody. The, uh, the greatest, the second greatest collaboration of all time. Holy shit.

[00:01:54] Uh, uh, normally Jerry and I are on a quest to talk about every video game topic in existence one week at a time.

[00:01:59] Fortunately, Jerry is not here today. He's had a, uh, a procedure. He won't get too into it, but he's fine. He's in recovery.

[00:02:06] He'll be gone for about like two or three weeks. Uh, but he's, he's all right though. He'll come back.

[00:02:12] Can I, can I say what, what Jerry got done officially?

[00:02:15] Yeah, do it.

[00:02:16] He got Goemon hair.

[00:02:18] That was the surgery.

[00:02:20] Oh!

[00:02:20] He wanted Goemon hair so bad he finally got it.

[00:02:22] He got like the total facial reconstruction. So he looks just like Goemon from Nintendo 64.

[00:02:27] Like with the rigs.

[00:02:29] Specifically that one? Okay.

[00:02:31] Yeah.

[00:02:32] He got it done where, where, uh, it takes a second for, for the textures to load.

[00:02:37] So it's pretty cool.

[00:02:38] Ooh.

[00:02:39] Hell yeah.

[00:02:40] Yeah, I could get that.

[00:02:41] Yeah, it's cool.

[00:02:42] Uh, anyway, yeah, we're talking about Kirby Planet Robobot today.

[00:02:46] That's right.

[00:02:46] We're doing something different.

[00:02:47] We're talking about just one game today and, uh, it's going to be pretty cool.

[00:02:51] I'm pretty excited for it.

[00:02:52] I guess we're popping our cherry with, uh, with single game episodes.

[00:02:56] So it'll be fun.

[00:02:57] It's about time.

[00:02:58] I think I bullied you into this.

[00:03:00] I'm pretty sure.

[00:03:02] I think, I think that this whole thing first started when we were talking about doing Shin

[00:03:06] Megami Tensei V for an episode.

[00:03:08] And I meant like, let's do it for fine time.

[00:03:11] But you were like, oh, are we going to do it for Super Pod?

[00:03:13] And I thought like, maybe we should just do it for Super Pod.

[00:03:16] Like I'm still down.

[00:03:17] I'm very down for that.

[00:03:19] Yeah.

[00:03:20] Uh, well, yeah, we've got guests here to fill the void in my heart.

[00:03:25] Uh, now that Jerry is, is missing.

[00:03:26] He's MIA once more.

[00:03:28] We've got two handsome, dazzling fellas here to join me today.

[00:03:33] I've got.

[00:03:34] Thank you.

[00:03:35] Thank you.

[00:03:36] Chris, give the, give the mic a smooch.

[00:03:38] Give us a big one, Chris.

[00:03:41] I'm going to, I'm going to channel my little sister when she was a kid.

[00:03:46] I like it.

[00:03:50] It was so weird when she was little, you would be like, give me a kiss.

[00:03:53] And she would get up to your cheek and you would just feel teeth going.

[00:03:59] It's like a reverse bite.

[00:04:02] It's pretty good.

[00:04:05] Holy shit.

[00:04:06] Everybody.

[00:04:06] Chris, Chris's little sister is secretly a raptor.

[00:04:09] First off we have, we have Andre from fine time.

[00:04:12] Hello.

[00:04:13] Hello everybody.

[00:04:14] Hello, super pod audience.

[00:04:16] I am here to torch you once again.

[00:04:18] Cause Aaron invited me back.

[00:04:20] Thank you.

[00:04:21] You're welcome, sir.

[00:04:22] And we've got Chris from a novel console.

[00:04:24] Hello.

[00:04:25] Hey, I'm doing podcasts again.

[00:04:28] Nice.

[00:04:29] It is about time.

[00:04:30] It's a, when did you stop?

[00:04:31] Like may, may or June?

[00:04:34] Uh, I think exactly.

[00:04:37] May mid may.

[00:04:39] Uh, cause I remember my last episode that I uploaded may 13th, 2024.

[00:04:44] That was wait.

[00:04:46] It was with Jala.

[00:04:48] No Jala was the one before in April 22nd.

[00:04:52] Damn it.

[00:04:53] Look at him trying to be this number one, a novel console fan here.

[00:04:57] I lost my million dollars.

[00:04:59] Yeah.

[00:04:59] Yeah.

[00:05:01] I'm sorry, Aaron.

[00:05:02] That's okay.

[00:05:03] That's okay.

[00:05:04] Since we're doing this whole new, new super pod saga formula, uh, for any, for any, I mean, you guys aren't necessarily new guests, but you are a new guest to the new formula.

[00:05:14] So, uh, we're gonna open things up with the, well, no, first actually go and plug your shows before we get to the next part.

[00:05:20] Go ahead and plug your shows.

[00:05:21] Andre, go ahead and plug away.

[00:05:23] Talk about yourself and your show and anything else you want to plug, uh, plug, plug, plug, plug, plug.

[00:05:28] Plug, plug, plug.

[00:05:28] Okay.

[00:05:29] Hey, well, shit.

[00:05:30] If you haven't heard, if you haven't had the misfortune of, uh, plugging it in me, what?

[00:05:36] Who said that?

[00:05:36] If you haven't had the misfortune of, uh, hearing me on the show before, hello, I am your boy, Dre.

[00:05:41] I am from fine time podcast.

[00:05:43] I do with my friends, Steve and Kevin.

[00:05:45] We talk about whatever the hell we want.

[00:05:47] New games, old games.

[00:05:49] You could talk about something new, like Shin Megami, say five vengeance.

[00:05:52] We could talk about something old, like Kirby planet Robobot, whatever we are authentically playing.

[00:05:57] That's what we're going to talk about because you know, that's what feels right to us.

[00:06:00] We love covering news.

[00:06:02] We love Nintendo directs or games, com or TGS or shows like that.

[00:06:05] We love getting in the muckety muck.

[00:06:07] Oh, did you see this?

[00:06:08] Did you see that?

[00:06:09] We'd love to embarrass each other with quiz games on this week's episode.

[00:06:13] As of this recording, Steve embarrassed us with a quiz game.

[00:06:16] We tried to do like fake ass family feud, uh, name the top 10 candies kids want.

[00:06:21] We got one of them before we bombed out between me and Kevin one out of 10.

[00:06:26] I nerds was not on there and Milky Way was not on there.

[00:06:30] What the fuck children?

[00:06:31] What are kids eating?

[00:06:33] Like what fucking walnuts or something?

[00:06:35] Yeah, I don't know, man.

[00:06:36] Like, like full shelled walnuts.

[00:06:38] Yeah.

[00:06:39] Yeah.

[00:06:39] Like literally using the nutcracker like mouth to like open them.

[00:06:43] No man.

[00:06:44] Like a lot of stuff was on their starburst M&Ms, like stuff you'd think of.

[00:06:47] It's just like, really?

[00:06:48] I didn't even get nerds like kids.

[00:06:50] Come on.

[00:06:51] Anyway, we'd love to do stuff like that.

[00:06:53] So come have a fine time with us.

[00:06:56] Beautiful, beautiful.

[00:06:58] Chris, go ahead and plug away once more.

[00:07:00] Plug, plug, plug.

[00:07:02] So I'm, I'm the host, uh, the main host probably have a novel console.

[00:07:06] My, my wife is, is, is the second host.

[00:07:09] She, she keeps saying we're going to record, we're going to record.

[00:07:12] And then we never do.

[00:07:13] So, uh, we have an episode coming out on October 28th.

[00:07:17] Finally.

[00:07:18] Nice.

[00:07:19] Good.

[00:07:20] Um, uh, we, we're do, we, we talk books, games, food, stuff that caught our attention.

[00:07:25] Um, basically that that's our show.

[00:07:29] Uh, next year we're starting a big project.

[00:07:32] Uh, I'm excited to announce it at the beginning of the year.

[00:07:35] It's going to be fucking awesome.

[00:07:36] Going to have, yeah, it's going to have, uh, three of our buddies coming every other month

[00:07:43] to do an episode to talk about a series.

[00:07:45] It's going to be fucking awesome.

[00:07:46] I can't wait for it.

[00:07:48] That sounds great.

[00:07:49] But yeah, uh, hopefully we're, we're going to do at least two a month.

[00:07:52] Uh, but a novel console is going to be officially back on the 28th.

[00:07:57] Hell yeah.

[00:07:57] That's awesome news, man.

[00:07:58] It is.

[00:07:59] Thank you.

[00:08:00] Awesome news.

[00:08:02] And listeners, you can check out all of us on super pod network.

[00:08:06] Dot com.

[00:08:06] You can find a super pod saga there.

[00:08:09] I mean, you're already listening to it.

[00:08:10] So yeah, whatever you can find, find time there and I will console.

[00:08:13] You can find keeping together Tommy's video game right along, which is also back from his hiatus.

[00:08:20] He's got a 41 minute episode coming, which is like his longest by far.

[00:08:24] So, uh, that'll be good.

[00:08:25] That's an eternity for him.

[00:08:27] Wow.

[00:08:27] It's just 41 minutes of him going, fuck, fuck, fuck.

[00:08:32] I can't, I can't wait to read the transcript for that one.

[00:08:36] Apple transcripts will still fuck it up.

[00:08:38] So it's, it'll say like quack or something.

[00:08:40] No duck.

[00:08:41] It'll say duck.

[00:08:42] Duck.

[00:08:42] Yeah.

[00:08:44] It'll say every word that sounds like, uh, without the F.

[00:08:47] Yeah.

[00:08:48] Muck.

[00:08:49] Cuck.

[00:08:50] Cuck.

[00:08:50] Cock.

[00:08:50] Cuck.

[00:08:54] Tommy's video game.

[00:08:55] Cockalock.

[00:09:01] You know, it reminds me of the game in one, two switch the fake draw.

[00:09:06] Cause you know, you have the quick draw.

[00:09:07] It says fire.

[00:09:08] And then you like point the Joey Connie, you fire.

[00:09:10] There's a draw where they say other F words.

[00:09:13] Like, like, uh, like fire file freeze fire.

[00:09:20] And then you have to listen for fire.

[00:09:21] And then you, but if you press it, you know, you get fooled by another word.

[00:09:24] Then you, you're out.

[00:09:25] I love it.

[00:09:26] So yeah, you could just be like, cuck.

[00:09:29] Truck.

[00:09:30] Fuck.

[00:09:31] And then you have to press, you have to press the thing.

[00:09:33] That's my game.

[00:09:34] Everybody.

[00:09:34] I work at Nintendo.

[00:09:35] Nice.

[00:09:36] So you're, you're the uncle that works on Nintendo.

[00:09:39] Mm hmm.

[00:09:39] I'm 42 years old.

[00:09:41] I can be, I'm, I'm uncle territory.

[00:09:43] Nice.

[00:09:43] And yet your uncle is also Bill Gates.

[00:09:46] So you could have their gamer tag band.

[00:09:47] Like, like that.

[00:09:48] Yeah.

[00:09:50] I can, I can, I can delete that shit.

[00:09:51] That's how that works.

[00:09:51] Mm hmm.

[00:09:52] Even though you're having it in the Xbox department, you just work for like Microsoft office office

[00:09:57] three 65, but you can still have a gamer shit band.

[00:09:59] It's three 65.

[00:10:01] Right.

[00:10:01] I work for in Carda 97.

[00:10:05] I work for Netscape.

[00:10:07] I work for Netscape.

[00:10:07] Netscape.

[00:10:08] Funding in Carda.

[00:10:11] Oh man.

[00:10:13] I'm sorry.

[00:10:13] I'm sorry.

[00:10:14] I'm sorry to bring in Carda back to everyone.

[00:10:16] It's all right, man.

[00:10:19] It's okay.

[00:10:21] Also listeners, I'm getting over like a tiny bit of a sickness.

[00:10:24] I apologize if I sound disgusting, but who cares?

[00:10:28] Hey, it's the guest question.

[00:10:30] Yeah.

[00:10:31] Both of you guys, you're old, pretty much everybody except for Friday night game cast at this point.

[00:10:34] And it's brand new to the whole Superpod saga, new formula.

[00:10:37] So yeah, what's, what's your favorite gaming memory?

[00:10:40] We'll go in order unless you guys want to like talk both at the same time overlapping.

[00:10:46] The thing I try to prevent the most on fine time.

[00:10:49] That is my nightmare come true.

[00:10:52] Um, I guess I'll, I guess I'll go first.

[00:10:54] I'll go, I'll go first.

[00:10:55] I don't know if this is, see, I don't know.

[00:10:58] There's so many, right?

[00:11:00] Okay.

[00:11:00] I'll go with this one.

[00:11:02] I was 19, right?

[00:11:03] This is early 2001.

[00:11:06] Maybe I was still, yeah, I was still 18 turning 19.

[00:11:09] This is January, 2001.

[00:11:12] Phantasy star online comes out for dreamcast.

[00:11:15] I've been waiting for this day for a long time.

[00:11:18] Right.

[00:11:20] And I get the game comes from FedEx.

[00:11:23] I'm sitting there.

[00:11:23] Cause you know, back in the day, FedEx, like they, they whisper on your door.

[00:11:26] And if you don't hear them, like you'll, you know, you're losing your shit.

[00:11:29] So I got the game.

[00:11:31] I was, I was waiting for it like a hawk.

[00:11:32] I put it in the dreamcast.

[00:11:35] I, all of a sudden my stomach does a flip.

[00:11:38] Oh boy.

[00:11:39] I have to shit right now.

[00:11:44] I proceed.

[00:11:45] So like I go to the bathroom, have like the worst diarrhea of my life.

[00:11:48] Still to this day, I come back and I'm like, oh my God, I'm trying to like, I feel drained.

[00:11:54] Right.

[00:11:54] I'm like, oh my God.

[00:11:55] Right.

[00:11:55] I'm trying to play PSO for the first time and waiting for this game for, for months.

[00:12:00] And you know, it's obviously an online game.

[00:12:02] You can't pause.

[00:12:02] You're playing with friends.

[00:12:03] And I'm just having the worst diarrhea of all time.

[00:12:06] Like I just, I just have to leave or it's like, oh, I got to turn the game off now.

[00:12:10] I have to get eaten by monsters and lose all my shit because my body will not cooperate this one day in my life.

[00:12:17] It was the worst, but it was also the best because fantasy star online is one of my favorite games of all time.

[00:12:23] I stayed up for 24 hours.

[00:12:26] I played the game for 24 hours straight.

[00:12:27] I got the game at 3 PM through all the diet.

[00:12:31] The diarrhea eventually stopped after a few hours.

[00:12:33] Thank God.

[00:12:34] I got it, but I played it till 3 PM the next day until I just passed out.

[00:12:39] I was in the mines dungeon and I just fell asleep.

[00:12:42] And I guess the computer or the computer, the dialogue connection, it was at that time just quit or something like that.

[00:12:49] I don't know what happened, but I just, I passed out.

[00:12:51] I was like, oh, what the fuck happened?

[00:12:52] I was like, that was great.

[00:12:53] But yeah, diarrhea and PSO.

[00:12:55] That's a, that's a gaming memory for me.

[00:13:01] It just sucked because it was like the worst possible time for that to happen.

[00:13:05] Right.

[00:13:05] Like it was just like, I cannot believe this shit.

[00:13:08] Literally cannot believe this shit.

[00:13:12] Literally dude.

[00:13:14] That's awful.

[00:13:15] So there, that's my gaming memory for the, for the day.

[00:13:19] Uh, I don't know if this is going to be a favorite, but it is a gaming memory.

[00:13:24] When I was a kid, uh, I, we used to rent a lot of Nintendo 64 games.

[00:13:29] Cause, uh, my parents didn't know if I was going to play a game that they bought, just buy a game and just play it forever.

[00:13:36] So we would rent a lot.

[00:13:38] And if I rented one at least 10 times in a row, they would end up buying it.

[00:13:42] So I, I pretty much.

[00:13:45] It felt like that sometimes.

[00:13:46] Cause I feel like I rented star Fox 64 shit ton of times before they finally bought it for me.

[00:13:51] And I remember Christ.

[00:13:52] The first time I saw Andross, fuck what was I was like eight, seven or eight.

[00:13:58] And I was just sitting there.

[00:14:00] I finally get to Venom.

[00:14:02] I'm finally going to find Andross.

[00:14:03] I see him and he's so fucking scary that I freeze and he just kills me over and over again.

[00:14:12] I turn off the 64 and I don't touch the game for the rest of the weekend because I was fucking horrified.

[00:14:20] It was, it was like, like frozen fear.

[00:14:23] Like I had no emotions because I couldn't comprehend what the fuck I just saw.

[00:14:28] This fucking guy ruined you.

[00:14:31] Yeah.

[00:14:33] So now, now every time I kill Andross, it feels a little bit personal.

[00:14:37] All the, the, I think it's been 28 times this year that I've killed them has been pretty personal.

[00:14:43] So.

[00:14:43] Wow.

[00:14:45] Wow.

[00:14:46] So it really freaked you out.

[00:14:47] That's, that's amazing.

[00:14:48] Yeah.

[00:14:48] It, it, it got me like, I was like, Oh fuck, what is this?

[00:14:52] Cause you see polygon hands, giant fucking monkey face laughing at shoots back then.

[00:14:57] It was horrific.

[00:14:58] It's still kind of scary, but yeah.

[00:15:00] Yeah.

[00:15:00] That fucking broke me.

[00:15:02] Wow.

[00:15:02] Arson is cool.

[00:15:04] And he started lighting shit on fire because you don't have any emotions.

[00:15:08] It was all in the shape of Andross.

[00:15:12] Oh, someone please do that.

[00:15:14] Yeah.

[00:15:14] I, um, the thing that scared the shit out of me at that age was Zelda to the return

[00:15:19] of Ganon screen.

[00:15:20] When you run out alive, I would turn the game off before that happened.

[00:15:24] I wouldn't even save the game obviously.

[00:15:25] Cause you have to get past that.

[00:15:27] I returned that.

[00:15:27] Then I got smart.

[00:15:28] I would turn the TV off.

[00:15:29] If I kept track of how many lives I had, so I wouldn't have to see it.

[00:15:34] Then I turned the TV back on.

[00:15:35] Then I would save.

[00:15:37] That's good.

[00:15:38] That's smart.

[00:15:39] Yep.

[00:15:39] I think the thing that freaked me out the most, um, I forget how old I was, but I was

[00:15:45] on the PS one.

[00:15:46] It was clock tower too.

[00:15:48] Oh Jesus.

[00:15:48] And, uh, of course I was, of course I was a kid.

[00:15:51] We're talking Nintendo games and Aaron's like, Oh, here's pure horror.

[00:15:55] Oh yeah.

[00:15:56] Yeah.

[00:15:57] I can't remember any Nintendo games that like scared me or spooked me or anything like that.

[00:16:01] But clock tower too, though, of course being a dumb kid and this game is just broken and

[00:16:06] just such a piece of fucking shit that I couldn't get out of the house.

[00:16:09] Like I couldn't make it past the house at all.

[00:16:11] We come across, I think her name was what Stephanie Tate, the little possessed girl.

[00:16:15] Like for the longest time I was just walking around the house trying to figure out what

[00:16:18] to do.

[00:16:19] It's a point and click.

[00:16:20] So you're just like trying to solve puzzles and figure out where the fuck to go.

[00:16:23] And then all of a sudden you come into a room and like, all you hear is ha ha ha ha

[00:16:28] like her dumb fucking digitized laugh and her face is like pale and she has like the

[00:16:33] tiniest knife known to man.

[00:16:34] But I was a kid and I was like, fuck that.

[00:16:37] And I hit reset.

[00:16:39] You reset.

[00:16:40] So you didn't even try to run away.

[00:16:41] You were just like, boop.

[00:16:42] Nope.

[00:16:44] Fuck that.

[00:16:44] I didn't know what the fuck I was doing.

[00:16:46] He said he made sure she was gone.

[00:16:49] Yep.

[00:16:50] You can't hurt me anymore if I reset the game.

[00:16:54] That's right.

[00:16:54] She can't hurt me if I don't play the game or whatever.

[00:16:57] I don't know.

[00:16:58] Fuck that bitch.

[00:16:59] Fuck that game.

[00:17:01] Yeah, I've never been a clock tower.

[00:17:03] I don't like hide and seek horror.

[00:17:05] So clock tower doesn't do it for me.

[00:17:07] No.

[00:17:08] It's cool.

[00:17:08] I recognize it as like a cool thing, but it's not my thing.

[00:17:11] I thought tower two is just a piece of shit though.

[00:17:13] Like the best, the best, probably the best way to experience it.

[00:17:17] Just watch nitro rads video on a clock tower two.

[00:17:21] He goes very in depth with it.

[00:17:24] It's a, and he just explains how big of a piece of shit it is.

[00:17:27] It's it's good.

[00:17:28] Good watch.

[00:17:28] I like nitro rad a lot.

[00:17:30] Yeah.

[00:17:30] I'll have to watch that.

[00:17:31] Yeah.

[00:17:32] I can't play those, those hide and seek horror games because my fight or flight sense is fight

[00:17:37] always.

[00:17:38] It defaults to fight.

[00:17:40] It defaults to fight.

[00:17:41] First.

[00:17:41] I thought there was something stalking me the other day on the other side of the fence

[00:17:44] and I just went into fight and because I default to fight.

[00:17:50] I hate horror games because I just want to throw hands whenever I start feeling uncomfortable.

[00:17:56] Yeah, I understand.

[00:17:58] Yeah.

[00:17:58] That's why I love a game.

[00:18:00] That's why I love a horror game with a good melee weapon.

[00:18:03] Everyone says you could play Resident Evil with a knife.

[00:18:05] Fuck that shit.

[00:18:06] That knife sucks.

[00:18:07] I don't care what anybody says.

[00:18:09] Yeah.

[00:18:09] That thing is trash.

[00:18:10] Silent Hill or something with a wooden board or a bat or something.

[00:18:13] Hell yeah.

[00:18:14] I'm with it.

[00:18:14] You know, lead pipe.

[00:18:16] Absolutely.

[00:18:17] That's that lead pipe.

[00:18:18] That's why I like Callisto Protocol so much because it's you have to hit them with a

[00:18:25] bat.

[00:18:26] Otherwise, you're fucked because the shooting in that game is not meant for shooting.

[00:18:30] It's it's for smacking around.

[00:18:32] Yeah, or like a dead space.

[00:18:35] Like I don't know about the remake, but the original you hit like right trigger without

[00:18:38] aiming and Isaac does that huge sweeping swing with whatever weapon.

[00:18:43] He still does it.

[00:18:44] Yep.

[00:18:44] That shit was good.

[00:18:45] It's great.

[00:18:46] Oh, it's so good.

[00:18:47] We're not talking about those though.

[00:18:49] We're talking about Kirby Planet Robobot, baby.

[00:18:52] Normally we do super important breaking news, but Jerry's not here.

[00:18:57] So we're just going to scoot past that.

[00:18:59] Plus there really isn't a whole lot of news.

[00:19:01] We were struggling this week on fine time.

[00:19:04] I tell you what, we had a couple.

[00:19:05] That's why we played the family feud and we talked about the Burger King meal and shit

[00:19:09] because there, there is nothing happening right now.

[00:19:12] Yeah.

[00:19:12] So I feel you.

[00:19:14] Maybe, maybe other than like the whole internet archive thing were like, uh, but hackers wiped

[00:19:21] it out and then it kind of came back, but then they took it back down again.

[00:19:24] And now it's like read only from like the way back machine on shit.

[00:19:28] But that's so it's huge.

[00:19:30] So what's the next big news thing?

[00:19:32] Uh, game awards.

[00:19:33] That's it.

[00:19:34] Yeah.

[00:19:35] Yeah.

[00:19:35] Cause I don't think we're past TGS unless yeah.

[00:19:38] Unless Nintendo drops whatever they're doing.

[00:19:41] Yeah.

[00:19:41] Right.

[00:19:41] I doubt it.

[00:19:42] So highly doubt it.

[00:19:43] There's that too.

[00:19:44] That play test thing.

[00:19:45] It turned out to be this like big world building thing where you and other people online, uh,

[00:19:51] work together to like build worlds and like lands and shit.

[00:19:56] Um, cause like with that whole thing, Nintendo was like, please don't tell, please don't week

[00:20:02] this to other people.

[00:20:03] Please don't like this online.

[00:20:04] People immediately fucking did.

[00:20:05] They streamed it.

[00:20:06] I fucking streamed this shit.

[00:20:08] I don't know why people would do that, man.

[00:20:10] Nintendo doesn't fuck around.

[00:20:12] Don't don't do that.

[00:20:14] Um, yeah.

[00:20:16] What's it called?

[00:20:16] That's all it is.

[00:20:17] Did you know gaming did a video on Pokemon ROM hacks and the pain Lee Nintendo is super

[00:20:24] lenient when it gets to the point where there were going to court.

[00:20:27] It's because the person has been not responding at all to anything Nintendo has told them.

[00:20:33] Mm hmm.

[00:20:34] Yeah.

[00:20:35] Yep.

[00:20:35] Yeah.

[00:20:36] They can't.

[00:20:37] Um, yeah, I saw some of the leak place to play test stuff.

[00:20:40] I will say though, this definitely doesn't look like a game.

[00:20:43] I don't think this is a game we're playing in the future.

[00:20:45] I think this is just testing some sort of idea that they want to try with everybody.

[00:20:50] I don't think this is like a thing we're playing.

[00:20:52] So it's a PlayStation home, but Nintendo.

[00:20:55] It kind of.

[00:20:56] Yeah.

[00:20:56] Cause you have weird minerals and shit.

[00:20:58] What if it's like, um, how is it?

[00:21:01] These mixed up me Tomo, but like with people right now, maybe they're going to make the

[00:21:06] next me Tomo or like, I forget.

[00:21:10] Yeah.

[00:21:10] So, yeah.

[00:21:11] So, yeah.

[00:21:11] So, yeah.

[00:21:12] So, yeah.

[00:21:16] So, yeah.

[00:21:22] So, yeah.

[00:21:23] Me, me, me, me, top.

[00:21:24] Yeah.

[00:21:24] I'm glad that got ported to switch.

[00:21:26] I do.

[00:21:26] I do think that game's pretty funny, but yeah, I think, I think on fine time we talked about

[00:21:32] you guys hear about the bandai Namco expulsion rooms like the, like the, so cause you know,

[00:21:37] in Japan you can't lay people off.

[00:21:39] So they just send them to this room with nothing to do all day and they still pay them trying

[00:21:44] to get these people to quit or whatever.

[00:21:46] What the fuck?

[00:21:47] Yeah.

[00:21:48] So they just work for that company for the rest of my life.

[00:21:51] Exactly.

[00:21:52] I don't have to do shit.

[00:21:53] If I can use my phone, I don't give a fuck.

[00:21:54] Right.

[00:21:55] I'll just sit in that room all day and do nothing.

[00:21:57] Yeah.

[00:21:57] So that's what they're doing.

[00:21:58] They say like a hundred people have quit because they sent them to these rooms or whatever.

[00:22:01] So they're just trying to unload the workforce by doing that, which is not illegal, but obviously

[00:22:08] a terrible thing to do.

[00:22:10] Right.

[00:22:11] So like, you know, and my theory was, hey, you know, here in the States, we've been having

[00:22:16] all these layoffs in the industry or whatever.

[00:22:17] And like people are, you notice that people are always like, look at Japan.

[00:22:21] They can't lay people off or look at the UK.

[00:22:24] You can't do that unless you're going bankrupt and whatever.

[00:22:26] And it's like corporations are corporations, man.

[00:22:29] If they want to get rid of you, if they want to cut costs, they will find a way to do it.

[00:22:33] It's just easy to do in America.

[00:22:35] It's not easy to do in other places, but they will do it.

[00:22:39] Absolutely.

[00:22:40] In these in those expulsion rooms, is it just like an empty room and you can't bring

[00:22:45] anything with you or can you just bring can you bring stuff with you?

[00:22:48] See, I don't know.

[00:22:48] See, I don't know all the details.

[00:22:50] Like if you can't, obviously, if you can't bring anything with you, that is absolute

[00:22:53] trash.

[00:22:53] But I mean, might as well go to prison, man.

[00:22:55] Yeah.

[00:22:56] For fucking real money.

[00:22:57] I don't blame people for quitting.

[00:22:58] But if you have like your computer and you're like, I don't know, your phone or whatever.

[00:23:03] Like, I don't.

[00:23:04] Yeah.

[00:23:04] Right.

[00:23:04] Your your your your 3DS to play Bandai Namco hits on such as like Tekken Revolution or something.

[00:23:11] Then like, yeah, you can you can you can do that.

[00:23:15] Yeah.

[00:23:15] It's it's a weird situation.

[00:23:16] But yeah, we talked about that.

[00:23:17] Other than that, there's not really much going on.

[00:23:20] Yeah, it's been a pretty unhot week.

[00:23:37] Fuck it.

[00:23:37] Let's let's get to Kirby Planet Robobot.

[00:23:39] Hey, Kirby Planet Robobot, of course, released worldwide April or not April released worldwide

[00:23:46] 2016, April for Japan and Korea, June for pretty much everywhere else.

[00:23:53] And man, this was I think what 3DS got like three or four Kirby games total.

[00:24:01] And there's like the Blowout Blast, Triple Deluxe.

[00:24:05] This and then this.

[00:24:07] Yeah, I think I and those are the three weren't there some what Kirby clash or something.

[00:24:14] It was digital only.

[00:24:15] They ended up doing.

[00:24:17] Oh, yeah.

[00:24:18] Yeah.

[00:24:18] I remember that.

[00:24:19] Yeah.

[00:24:19] Mm hmm.

[00:24:20] Which was actually kind of cool.

[00:24:23] Very interesting time for Kirby.

[00:24:25] Right.

[00:24:25] I always think of this period, this 2010s period of Kirby as like sort of having a through line, like, you know, starting from like return to dreamland on we going through triple the locks going through planet Robobot and sort of ending with star allies, which I don't think is very good.

[00:24:40] And that's probably why they probably why they stopped.

[00:24:43] But like, I think they had a winning formula, you know, and I think that is perfected in Robobot.

[00:24:51] So when I think about this game, I just think of like the their their culmination of efforts at this time of like making a bunch of Kirby games fairly consistently and using relatively the same engine and the same graphics to do these wildly different things with them.

[00:25:07] They don't feel like the same games, you know?

[00:25:09] Yeah.

[00:25:10] Oh, my God.

[00:25:11] Yeah.

[00:25:12] Yeah.

[00:25:15] I I've I've recently gotten into Kirby.

[00:25:19] I growing up when I was a teenager, you know, you had Nightmare in Dreamland, the one for the Game Boy Advance, the DS ones, all those.

[00:25:28] Right.

[00:25:29] They existed.

[00:25:29] I never cared, even though my friends would play them.

[00:25:32] And I didn't really get into them until I saw triple deluxe for like 20 bucks on the 3ds one time.

[00:25:38] I bought it and I thought it was OK, but Planet Robobot is such an above and beyond Kirby game.

[00:25:50] Yeah, out of all of the ones because I've been playing the games just to see what if the series does click for me like the rest of them are actually games that I would want to play.

[00:26:00] And the only one that has felt at this level was forgotten land because yeah, and it makes me think that personally for me, at least Kirby needs to have a fun gimmick in order for it to be interesting to me.

[00:26:18] Because I'm pretty sure that triple deluxe is just like any other Kirby, except it's fairly standard Kirby.

[00:26:24] It's fairly standard.

[00:26:25] Yeah, that doesn't.

[00:26:25] I mean, for me, that's fine.

[00:26:27] But like, yeah, if you if you want the I mean, the only real gimmick triple deluxe has is like the thing where you turn really big.

[00:26:33] Like I think could return to dreamland has that too, right?

[00:26:36] Where you turn really big, you get like the big power, like the sword or whatever.

[00:26:40] Right.

[00:26:40] And you do the big sword slashes to like kill everything on screen.

[00:26:44] I mean, it's fine, but it sure as hell isn't, you know, the robots.

[00:26:51] I mean, the robots in Robobot are practically level of like, you know, like Mega Man X ride armor or something.

[00:26:58] It hasn't like feel has that like feel to it that like, you know, the other ones are just kind of a spectacle, which is fine.

[00:27:04] I love spectacle.

[00:27:06] Right.

[00:27:06] But like, yeah, Robobot is on another level with that.

[00:27:10] Everything about this game is on another level.

[00:27:12] And I agree with what you said about forgotten land.

[00:27:14] I think those are the two best Kirby games by far.

[00:27:17] Thank you, dude.

[00:27:18] I to this very well.

[00:27:20] I mean, I say to this very day, but I just recently beat it earlier this year.

[00:27:24] But forgotten land, I think is it's, it's pretty darn close to be in my favorite man.

[00:27:30] It's a, it's a perfect game.

[00:27:31] But earlier this year I was going on this mission to beat as many Kirby games as I could.

[00:27:36] So I beat like the first two Kirby games, like the two on Game Boy, which are like fucking 30 minutes.

[00:27:42] I beat the first game while I watched an episode of guys grocery games in the background.

[00:27:48] That was pretty cool.

[00:27:50] And, uh, I beat a few others and, and yeah, like Robobot, like even, even with all the ones I've beaten, even with, um, oh, what's the Metroidvania one on Game Boy Advance?

[00:28:01] Amazing mirror.

[00:28:03] Yeah.

[00:28:03] Amazing mirror.

[00:28:03] That was my previous favorite before Robobot and then forgotten land.

[00:28:07] Yeah.

[00:28:08] Yeah.

[00:28:08] Like after, after playing all of those and like kind of dabbling in the DS ones, like Robobot still really, really stands out because it does so much shit.

[00:28:19] There's so sorry, so much different shit, like does so many cool, different things that other games don't like, uh, dreamland three dabbled in quite a bit with like the different companions you can ride on and giving them different abilities and shit.

[00:28:33] But do Robobot just, it blows everything, every previous game out of the goddamn water.

[00:28:39] I feel like anyway, it really does.

[00:28:41] I really liked dreamland three and I really liked Kirby 64.

[00:28:45] And I, like I said, amazing mirror was my favorite before the, the, before Robobot and now forgotten land.

[00:28:52] Um, there are very few bad.

[00:28:54] I think the thing is for me, there are very few bad Kirby games for me.

[00:28:58] Like I genuinely do not like star allies.

[00:29:01] Um, I do not like what was the, what was the first year squeak squad?

[00:29:07] I fucking hate that game.

[00:29:09] I don't like that game at all.

[00:29:11] I don't think there's any bad Kirby games.

[00:29:14] I think there's boring Kirby games.

[00:29:18] Yeah, I guess boring is the worst thing you can be though, I guess, in a sense, especially, I guess for a video game, they're not, they're not broken.

[00:29:25] They play right.

[00:29:26] They do what they want to do.

[00:29:28] They're just not very entertaining.

[00:29:30] And then again, I haven't, I have most of the Kirby games.

[00:29:34] I haven't played all of them, but going through planet Robobot, I'm like, this was awesome.

[00:29:39] I want to see what, uh, the, the remake on DS is like.

[00:29:43] Cause I, I've never played that Kirby game.

[00:29:45] What is it?

[00:29:46] Uh, superstar.

[00:29:47] Yeah.

[00:29:48] Superstar ultra.

[00:29:49] Yeah. I've never played superstar.

[00:29:50] So that, that's something that I, I, I want to play now because I went through Robobot all over again.

[00:29:56] That's the opinion that always gets me in trouble.

[00:29:59] Superstars is not for me.

[00:30:00] I just don't get it.

[00:30:02] I never have.

[00:30:03] I've never understood why that's people's favorite Kirby game.

[00:30:06] I don't, I don't understand maybe, but I'm, I'm clearly the, not the popular opinion here.

[00:30:12] So maybe you will play it and, uh, I don't know, maybe that DS version adds some stuff that makes it, uh, more interesting.

[00:30:18] But for me, I was just like, it's fine.

[00:30:20] It's totally, totally fine.

[00:30:23] You know, kind of like what you were saying.

[00:30:25] So maybe, maybe you'll feel differently, but yeah, Robobot is a cut above for a lot of reasons, right?

[00:30:31] Like, I think, I mean, how do I say it?

[00:30:35] It's the thing I always say about Mario three versus like Mario world and why Mario three is not just my favorite Mario game.

[00:30:40] It's my favorite game of all time is because by the time we get to Mario three, it's clearly made for an experienced gamer, right?

[00:30:49] Like you played the other two, you know what you're doing.

[00:30:52] You know what Mario is.

[00:30:53] Here's this game.

[00:30:54] It's not overly punishing or anything.

[00:30:55] It's just, I mean, Mario three is hard.

[00:30:57] Don't get me wrong, but it's a, it's a, it's a challenge that is made for someone who plays video games versus like super Mario world is clearly made for people for like beginners.

[00:31:07] And that's fine.

[00:31:09] There's nothing wrong with that.

[00:31:10] It's just, I like the focus.

[00:31:11] I like when the level design focus is on experience.

[00:31:15] And I think that's why Robobot to me really stands out from like all the little, like jumping over just, just like pipes, right?

[00:31:23] Just stuff in your way, jumping over little things, running under other things.

[00:31:26] You're, you're using the star to go like, you know, back and forth in the foreground or background.

[00:31:31] And people say, Oh, it's just like a 3d gimmick for the 3ds.

[00:31:35] No, man, that's cool.

[00:31:36] Even if you're looking on a flat ass screen, you can play on a 2ds and that shit is still cool.

[00:31:40] It, you know, so it's not just a, it's not just a gimmick.

[00:31:43] It does a good job of, of momentum.

[00:31:46] Uh, which, yes.

[00:31:48] Oh, which was my, my biggest complaint with six with Kirby Chris 64, which I played in a hotel room.

[00:31:55] I figured out you couldn't dash and I stopped playing.

[00:31:57] Um, cause I could not do slow.

[00:32:01] And I think that might be one of my issues with, uh, triple deluxe.

[00:32:05] It's, it's not very fast, but this Kirby game, there was a couple of times where I had to restart a stage over.

[00:32:11] Cause I fucked something up and I thought I missed the cube.

[00:32:13] So I would restart it all over again.

[00:32:16] And I could get back to the same spot where I was in a matter of maybe one or two minutes because the game flows so fast.

[00:32:22] Mm-hmm you're schmoving in a show about for sure.

[00:32:26] Yeah, man.

[00:32:27] What's like your first memory with the game or favorite memory with the game?

[00:32:30] If you can at all recall, I can for sure, because I didn't get a 3ds until black Friday, 2016.

[00:32:39] They were like $99.

[00:32:41] I got a new 3ds, right?

[00:32:43] Fucking to me.

[00:32:44] Okay.

[00:32:45] Maybe, maybe, maybe mine was 2015.

[00:32:46] I forget, but, uh, yeah, I, I, it was definitely the new model, right?

[00:32:52] And I was just like, okay, because I was out on Nintendo for a long time.

[00:32:56] I never bought a Wii U.

[00:32:57] I saw the 3ds.

[00:32:58] I'm like, fuck you guys.

[00:32:59] So I'm like, I, I hadn't, I hadn't, I would say from like 2010 or 11 through like practically 16 there.

[00:33:07] I didn't care about Nintendo at all.

[00:33:08] It's the longest period of my, I was like, I have this PS4 and that's all I'm doing.

[00:33:12] Fuck you guys.

[00:33:12] So, um, I got a 3ds late cause they announced switch.

[00:33:16] And I was just like, you know what?

[00:33:18] I think I'm back in the game here.

[00:33:19] This is actually a piece of hardware that doesn't make me want to punch something.

[00:33:23] So I was like, I was so before switch came out, I was like, okay, I guess I should do some 3ds catch up.

[00:33:29] So obviously I got the thing for black Friday, 2016, as I said, and I got Robo bot.

[00:33:35] And I, I made that a priority cause obviously it was the newest Kirby game.

[00:33:38] So yeah, I just remember having this new 3ds and playing this latest Kirby game on it, I guess is the memory I have while kind of waiting for switch to come around.

[00:33:48] So I was just in that period of me doing hella 3ds catch up.

[00:33:53] I was like, damn, this game is just, what have I, what have I been missing?

[00:33:58] You know, holy shit.

[00:33:59] I can't believe I was just going to be like, fuck this system and pass this by.

[00:34:03] I'm glad I, I'm glad I got it.

[00:34:06] Hell yeah.

[00:34:06] Hell yeah.

[00:34:07] What about you, Chris?

[00:34:09] Uh, so I got a, the, the galaxy 3ds from my sister, her ex boyfriend bought it for her.

[00:34:18] They broke up and she was going to return it to him, but he said, no.

[00:34:21] So she's like, do you want this?

[00:34:23] Cause I don't fucking want it.

[00:34:24] So I got a whole 3ds for free basically.

[00:34:27] And I, I started trucking and I started realizing that all of the DS games were super cheap.

[00:34:34] So I bought it every single week.

[00:34:36] I would go and buy a bunch of 3ds games and Robo bot was one of them.

[00:34:40] It might've been around 2018, 2017 when I was trucking.

[00:34:46] And I, I, I started the game and I just went straight through on a weekend cause it was so much fun.

[00:34:53] Um, and it stuck with me.

[00:34:56] I found out about this game through the completionist when he completed it.

[00:34:59] I was like, that game looks fun, but I'm probably never going to play it.

[00:35:02] And then when I played it, I was like, oh shit, this is really good.

[00:35:05] So yeah.

[00:35:07] It's surprising because you wouldn't think, right?

[00:35:09] Cause like if you're again, we're going to, we have this through line of like, you know, return to dreamland and triple deluxe.

[00:35:14] You might think like, okay, here's another Kirby game, right?

[00:35:18] Like if you had been playing along to that point, but I hadn't.

[00:35:21] Right.

[00:35:22] So it was just like, okay, I'll just play the latest one.

[00:35:24] And I'm glad, I'm glad I did it that way because wow.

[00:35:28] I may have missed out.

[00:35:30] Yeah, man.

[00:35:31] Honestly, that is kind of how I feel the Kirby games usually go.

[00:35:35] It's like, kind of like the same copy and pasted shit for, for quite a while until you get to something that's like kind of a little bit different.

[00:35:42] But my first, I think I got this game.

[00:35:46] It was either at a GameStop or like, uh, there's this dumb Midwest chain called gamers.

[00:35:51] It's just called gamers.

[00:35:52] It was at like one of those two stores.

[00:35:54] I forget.

[00:35:56] Um, luckily it was gamers.

[00:35:57] The ones at the gas station where you bought a superstar saga.

[00:36:02] No, no, that was a grocery store.

[00:36:06] That was Pomida.

[00:36:07] The Pomida was where I got superstar saga and golden sun.

[00:36:12] Okay.

[00:36:13] Somebody.

[00:36:16] Grocery store.

[00:36:17] Going to the grocery store, getting, getting like some pork chops, some instant mashed potatoes and a fucking copy of superstar saga to go along with them.

[00:36:27] That's so weird.

[00:36:28] That's great.

[00:36:29] That's rural Iowa, man.

[00:36:30] We didn't have like, other than like, we didn't have, we didn't have like any game stores around us.

[00:36:38] Like, like dedicated game stores.

[00:36:39] We would either go to like the movie rental place or go to the gas station to rent a fucking game or a movie or, uh, the grocery store to rent a game or movie or go to the other grocery store to buy a game or movie.

[00:36:53] I knew there was a gas station there somewhere.

[00:36:57] Yeah.

[00:36:58] Some of our grocery stores had rentals of, of, uh, movies for sure.

[00:37:01] I remember, I remember that.

[00:37:03] Uh, but, um, but yeah, I have to remember.

[00:37:06] Oh, go ahead.

[00:37:07] I was just gonna say gas station rental was the first time I ever played final fantasy 10.

[00:37:13] Wow.

[00:37:16] That's crazy.

[00:37:17] No, I was just gonna say, I have to remember that there is stuff like that.

[00:37:20] Cause you know, I, you know, coming, coming from San Diego where we, you know, we had, I have to remember not everyone had arcades and not everyone had, you know, a million game stores to go to or whatever.

[00:37:31] Right.

[00:37:32] So like, I have to, I have to think like, you have what you have in your area and that's, that's what you go to.

[00:37:36] And it's like, cause like when people will tell me like, oh, you know, I, they didn't have it at the store or whatever growing up.

[00:37:44] And I'm like, what do you mean the store?

[00:37:46] Like, what are you, like, what are you talking about?

[00:37:49] It's just called the store.

[00:37:49] Yeah.

[00:37:50] Literally the name of the store, but yeah, it was just like, sometimes just says people's options.

[00:37:54] So yeah, that, that can inform a lot, but, um, but yeah, gas station, super, super, almost had super pod saga, whatever.

[00:38:01] Yeah.

[00:38:01] Now the game is called super pod saga.

[00:38:02] Super fun.

[00:38:03] Hell yeah, man.

[00:38:05] So yeah, I bought, I bought Kirby planet Robobot used from one of those two stores.

[00:38:10] Luckily it came in the actual case with the manual, with all the inserts.

[00:38:13] Thank fuck.

[00:38:14] And I got that.

[00:38:15] And then there was also, it was like around the same, it was around maybe like, like a few months after the game came out.

[00:38:21] So they had like the little cardboard promotional cutout thing.

[00:38:24] I don't know why I'm doing fucking shadow puppets over here, but I like it brings me home.

[00:38:29] They had, they had one of those like cardboard, like promotional displays for planet Robobot.

[00:38:32] And I was like, dude, can I have that too?

[00:38:34] And he was like, yeah.

[00:38:36] So it's down in my basement right now.

[00:38:37] I have a little cardboard promotional cutout for Robobot.

[00:38:40] I had the promo, I had the promo cutout for amazing mirror for years.

[00:38:44] I had that thing.

[00:38:45] Yeah.

[00:38:46] Cause I loved, I loved that game.

[00:38:47] And I have all my friends worked at game crazies.

[00:38:50] I don't know if you guys had game crazy, but yeah.

[00:38:53] Okay.

[00:38:53] But yeah, that's not Walmart.

[00:38:55] No, that's not Walmart.

[00:38:56] Um, sorry.

[00:38:57] They were attached to Hollywood video stores.

[00:39:00] I don't know if you had video, but like, yeah, but they were, they were a game store attached to that.

[00:39:04] No, we had video Avenue and inside we had X games.

[00:39:09] Okay.

[00:39:10] Yeah.

[00:39:10] X games.

[00:39:10] That sounds almost sounds filthy.

[00:39:12] I like it.

[00:39:13] They had copies of the guy game.

[00:39:17] Wow.

[00:39:18] Our, her game crazy had that too.

[00:39:19] I always saw it on the shelf for like $2 and I'm like, oh boy, then who knew?

[00:39:23] Right.

[00:39:24] Right.

[00:39:25] Who knew?

[00:39:27] Oh man.

[00:39:28] Pomida is defunct.

[00:39:29] God damn it.

[00:39:31] Oh, game crazy is long dead.

[00:39:33] That is, that is well, well out of.

[00:39:35] Um, yeah.

[00:39:36] I mean, look, I mean, when the guy game came out, I was in my early twenties, you know,

[00:39:40] I wasn't above, I had, I had DMX triple X for game cube.

[00:39:43] I'm not afraid to admit it.

[00:39:44] I'm just saying, you know, but I did not have the guy game.

[00:39:48] That was a bridge too far for me.

[00:39:50] DMX triple X.

[00:39:52] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:53] That, that game is the only reason why I know that Syracuse is a thing.

[00:39:58] Like the city.

[00:40:00] Yeah.

[00:40:00] Yeah.

[00:40:01] Cause, cause when you're playing, like you went, you earn, uh, strip videos and the strip

[00:40:07] videos are from like actual strip clubs all over the country.

[00:40:10] And one of them's from Syracuse, New York and it would tell you Syracuse and then I would

[00:40:14] play the video.

[00:40:16] Yeah.

[00:40:17] Yep.

[00:40:18] For sure.

[00:40:19] It absolutely, absolutely did.

[00:40:22] Jesus Christ.

[00:40:24] So Kirby, right?

[00:40:26] Speaking of round pink things.

[00:40:28] Don't let him go to Syracuse.

[00:40:30] Kirby at Syracuse, dude.

[00:40:32] Kirby.

[00:40:33] They should, they should do like, like Kirby in the hood or something.

[00:40:37] He's just fucking, he's just executed in the hood.

[00:40:41] Kirby was cool in my hood.

[00:40:44] We passed around that original Game Boy cartridge.

[00:40:47] That's what my memory should have been.

[00:40:48] It was the original Kirby if I was thinking right, but you know, hey, it's too late now.

[00:40:53] Can we go back and edit?

[00:40:55] Can we just start over from that point?

[00:40:58] Holy shit.

[00:41:01] The first off, like what makes this game so different from, uh, from previous Kirby's

[00:41:06] Kirby games.

[00:41:07] Uh, Robobot has these on top of looking fucking great for a 3DS for a fucking handheld.

[00:41:13] It has these cool little sections where you get to pilot a mech suit, uh, neon, neon curb

[00:41:19] galleon, Avon Kirby.

[00:41:21] I don't know.

[00:41:21] I'm trying to make any ungenesis Evangeline joke, but it's, it's falling real hard.

[00:41:25] Yeah.

[00:41:25] That's okay.

[00:41:26] We'll pretend it was good.

[00:41:28] Yeah.

[00:41:28] You pilot a mech suit and then, uh, the mech suit can also copy different abilities.

[00:41:32] Yeah.

[00:41:32] We'll get, we'll get more into that.

[00:41:35] Holy shit.

[00:41:35] More in depth with that here in a bit.

[00:41:38] But, uh, what do you guys think of the visuals of the game?

[00:41:40] I think, I think they're very good, but I think the reason they're very good is because

[00:41:46] they're kind of minimalist.

[00:41:47] It's a lot of metals, uh, uh, techie, uh, neons shit.

[00:41:55] That's really simple and not detailed for the 3DS to do.

[00:41:58] And I think that's why it looks so good.

[00:42:01] That's also why I run 60 frames a second without a hitch, which is like, you know, it's just,

[00:42:07] I mean, that silky smooth, uh, Kirby gameplay is really good.

[00:42:11] Looking at you scar out star allies, which cut it down to fucking 30 and it sucks ass.

[00:42:16] Um, but like, yeah, it's just like that, that gameplay.

[00:42:19] And for something as like, we talked about, like the, you talked about momentum earlier,

[00:42:23] Chris, with this Kirby game and it almost like, I know this is going to sound really silly,

[00:42:27] but like in a way it almost reminded me of a Sonic game with the momentum, obviously

[00:42:31] not the speed, but with the, the level momentum, that's what Sonic is.

[00:42:36] You know, people always think it's like fast, fast, fast.

[00:42:38] And that is, that is true to a degree, but it's momentum is really what Sonic is.

[00:42:43] It's, it's being able to stay moving.

[00:42:46] It's, it's, it's not stopping and it does it really well.

[00:42:51] Does it really well.

[00:42:52] And, and, and Robobot really, really does that well.

[00:42:57] And that's what's, and then the visuals, like I said, with the frame rate and everything

[00:43:00] and the way the game looks with that sort of simplistic it's flat.

[00:43:04] There's a few like things in the background that are like a 3d object or two, but really

[00:43:10] not so much.

[00:43:11] It's really just kind of flat.

[00:43:12] And that's fine.

[00:43:13] Cause you want to keep the focus.

[00:43:14] Like I said, you're going, uh, foreground and background and you're doing these jumping

[00:43:18] around things.

[00:43:19] You want to keep it simple so you can kind of read the level the way it's supposed to be

[00:43:24] read.

[00:43:24] So I think, yeah, visually this game is insane.

[00:43:27] Obviously all the motifs are crazy.

[00:43:30] I love that you start out in a mechanized sort of weird pipe land and not your typical

[00:43:35] forest or whatever.

[00:43:36] I guess it's a, I guess it's a mechanized forest if you will, but, um, all the usual Kirby

[00:43:42] motifs are here, but they're all tricked up because of the Robobot thing.

[00:43:47] All of the, even, even the water level looks mechanized and even the whatever, right?

[00:43:52] Like all of it gives it that new fresh coat of paint that, you know, maybe something like

[00:43:58] triple deluxe doesn't have, even though it's a fine enough game.

[00:44:01] Right.

[00:44:03] I totally forgot to start with that too.

[00:44:04] Yeah.

[00:44:05] Basically the whole synopsis for this game is, uh, there's this alien is this alien craft

[00:44:10] comes from space or whatever.

[00:44:12] And it just starts mechanizing the whole planet.

[00:44:14] Pretty much like everything starts turning to like metal.

[00:44:17] And a lot of the enemies are like mechanized and ship and that's pretty much it.

[00:44:21] Uh, you as Kirby, you go, you'll try to find the big bad guy.

[00:44:25] And that that's, yeah, that's really it.

[00:44:27] One thing that I really like about this game is how much depth there is to, to each level.

[00:44:33] Like even when you're not playing with a 3d on, you have the shit totally off, just stone cold

[00:44:38] off.

[00:44:39] There is so much depth to the backgrounds and even the foregrounds to like little, little bits

[00:44:44] and bobs you see placed on like the ground or like, uh, um, like toward the top of the

[00:44:50] level, shit like that.

[00:44:51] There's just, it's, it's awesome, man.

[00:44:53] Yeah.

[00:44:53] Like one of the things that I like the most is the stages when you're in like a little city

[00:44:58] and you see like the buses and cars coming from all the way in the background and like

[00:45:02] stopping a couple of layers behind where you are, the light changing and them, you know,

[00:45:08] going all the way straight through the screen.

[00:45:11] That's incredible.

[00:45:12] Yeah.

[00:45:12] You see the little waddle D driving the car when he comes to, you can see the, you can

[00:45:15] see the car come to like a, an abrupt stop.

[00:45:18] And then the waddle D himself, you can see him going like, he kind of like falls, he

[00:45:22] kind of like falls forward with the abrupt stop and you see him go like, there's so much

[00:45:28] detail to that.

[00:45:29] They didn't need to put in there, but they did.

[00:45:30] And I, I fucking love that.

[00:45:32] And, uh, the, the train, uh, with the trains, that shit was so cool.

[00:45:38] There was one level with a train where it's scrolling and some gears kind of like come

[00:45:44] up in the corner.

[00:45:45] So you have the gears going shit going on in the background while every, and everything

[00:45:49] else you have where you are on your, on your layer of the screen.

[00:45:54] Yeah.

[00:45:55] Yeah.

[00:45:56] And then they have like the little cages and shit in the background.

[00:45:59] And there's those, how the fuck do I describe this?

[00:46:01] It's like, so there's a thing on the ground that's spinning.

[00:46:03] It's like a hammer.

[00:46:04] It's just spinning.

[00:46:05] And you can see going from the, from the foreground spinning to the background and then the foreground,

[00:46:10] like it, it just, it's seamless.

[00:46:12] And you fly all the way back into the background.

[00:46:16] Yeah.

[00:46:17] Or if it hits you coming back, just right on the screen.

[00:46:20] Dude.

[00:46:21] That's so cool.

[00:46:22] It's, it's incredible.

[00:46:23] I, it feels like this feels like one of those Kirby games that I always say about the

[00:46:28] best Mario games, which is most of them is that like, it feels like every, it feels like

[00:46:33] they said to the staff, okay, everyone give me your ideas at all the ideas, shitty ideas,

[00:46:38] great ideas, doesn't matter all the ideas right now.

[00:46:41] And then they somehow found a way to just put them all in the game.

[00:46:44] Like someone thought of this, like, oh, it's going to revolve around to the background.

[00:46:47] Like, it feels like a bunch of things like that, that they just decided it's like, let's

[00:46:53] just do everything.

[00:46:54] And those is make for the best kind of platformers.

[00:46:56] Yeah.

[00:46:57] Somebody said, let's put Kirby in a car and have him run over waddle D constantly.

[00:47:02] And that, and there's like three levels of that.

[00:47:05] And they're great.

[00:47:06] They're great.

[00:47:07] They're so good.

[00:47:08] And somebody said, let's do the, the flying levels of super Mario land.

[00:47:13] And they were great.

[00:47:15] Yeah.

[00:47:15] Yeah.

[00:47:16] Oh, those shmup levels.

[00:47:17] Oh, they were so good.

[00:47:19] Especially the last one.

[00:47:20] They're pretty fucking tight.

[00:47:21] Oh yeah.

[00:47:21] The rail, the rail shooter one.

[00:47:23] Yeah.

[00:47:24] Well, I think it was in, in, in eight EX in the final stage.

[00:47:30] That one was really good.

[00:47:31] Cause it was long and you get like mini bosses showing up constantly as regular enemies.

[00:47:36] That, that one was, was very, very good.

[00:47:39] That's so good, man.

[00:47:40] Yeah.

[00:47:40] So many, I forgot about that, man.

[00:47:42] There's just so many, like I said, a game is so packed full of ideas.

[00:47:45] Like this, where it's like, if I can forget about something like that, that would be the

[00:47:49] highlight of any other platformer, right?

[00:47:51] This is, this game just has a million things like that.

[00:47:54] That's what makes it the best.

[00:47:56] Yeah.

[00:47:57] I'm a, I'm just looking at pictures that I'm pulling up on Google.

[00:48:01] And even at just these fucking images from Google with their shitty resolutions.

[00:48:05] Like there's still so much depth to all these levels.

[00:48:09] Like there's, um, there's that one area pretty early on where you're Kirby and you're walking

[00:48:14] up that like spiral staircase to that tower.

[00:48:17] That was really fucking cool.

[00:48:18] Or there's like layers of like jungles and waterfalls and shit in the background.

[00:48:23] That's really fucking cool.

[00:48:24] And then when you do take that star to the background and like, I don't know, it just,

[00:48:31] it just feels still feels totally fine.

[00:48:33] Still just feels like a normal level.

[00:48:36] And the star stuff really does it for me.

[00:48:39] I think the foreground and background stuff, I just really, I really like that dynamicism.

[00:48:43] I really enjoyed the, the car levels where again, you would build momentum and you would

[00:48:50] be jumping between the back ground and the foreground constantly just to keep your momentum

[00:48:55] going, doing platforming that way.

[00:48:57] I thought that was just perfectly done.

[00:49:01] That, that yeah.

[00:49:02] So good.

[00:49:03] Yeah.

[00:49:04] Again, like people will see that stuff and it's like, oh, you know, I might think it's

[00:49:08] like a gimmick or something.

[00:49:09] And it's like, nah, man, that's, that's the soul of the game.

[00:49:11] That's gameplay.

[00:49:12] Yep.

[00:49:13] It is.

[00:49:14] So as far as, I guess that little kind of bring us into gameplay, we'll save, we'll

[00:49:18] save the soundtrack for, for a little bit later.

[00:49:20] The gameplay, man.

[00:49:21] Holy shit.

[00:49:23] So there are already so many fucking copy abilities in this game.

[00:49:28] Yeah.

[00:49:28] But then when you get to like the, the robo armor, it completely fucking changes everything

[00:49:34] up.

[00:49:35] You know, like when you get like the flame copy ability for Kirby, it's just the same

[00:49:38] as it's always been, you know, just blow fire, do a fireball move.

[00:49:41] That's it.

[00:49:41] But then you get the, the fire, the fire ability for the mech armor.

[00:49:46] What I'm trying to get at, get at here is that the, whatever copy ability you can get

[00:49:49] as Kirby, you can also get for the armor and it, for the armor, it's always something

[00:49:54] fucking super, super sick.

[00:49:56] Like it, it takes like the abilities you thought you knew from previous, from previous Kirby games and just like fucking upgrades them times 10.

[00:50:05] Like the stupid umbrella, instead of just making it a stupid umbrella, it turns you into like a little helicopter mech.

[00:50:11] And that's like the rocket one, instead of making you do like, like rocket jumps, it turns you into a rocket or not a, like a, like a jet.

[00:50:19] And you do those cool shmup levels, dude.

[00:50:21] Oh my God.

[00:50:23] So good.

[00:50:24] It's incredible.

[00:50:24] One of my favorites is the cutter where you just get fucking buzz sauce.

[00:50:28] Yeah, dude, that's great.

[00:50:32] I love that.

[00:50:32] Fucking the, the singing enemy.

[00:50:34] Whenever you capture it, you get like fucking giant ass speakers.

[00:50:38] Yeah.

[00:50:38] And Kirby's just like blasting noise.

[00:50:41] It's, it's, they're so good.

[00:50:43] They're so good.

[00:50:44] It's great.

[00:50:45] Fire one is just like, like flamethrowers on your arms or like, and then when you move, when you dash with the fire armor, you leave a trail of fire behind you that you can use to like turn on like fucking, uh, but wicks for the cannons and stuff.

[00:51:00] It's the details are so crazy.

[00:51:03] Yeah.

[00:51:04] And the fucking, the wheel turns you into like a, it was like a motorcycle or like a car or something.

[00:51:10] Oh, I forget.

[00:51:12] I just, I just love them all.

[00:51:14] I just think that like, you know, Kirby powers, you would never before you be okay.

[00:51:19] Before I played the game, I would never expect those to translate for the robots.

[00:51:23] I'm like, okay, the robot does a thing and that's it.

[00:51:25] And Kirby is Kirby.

[00:51:26] I would have never thought that just using the robot would be, would be able to use his powers.

[00:51:31] And when I found that out, I was like, oh my God, this game is going to be some shit.

[00:51:35] I think that flame one is my favorite.

[00:51:37] Honestly, it's so it's, it's such a simple thing to have.

[00:51:40] This is just as bad-ass like flame throwing ability and a mech.

[00:51:44] Right.

[00:51:44] But I just, it's, there's something super satisfying about it that I enjoy.

[00:51:49] There is a, a stage towards the end where the, the robot tree is chasing you.

[00:51:58] And if you have the flame ability, you can walk backwards while shooting it with the fire at the same time.

[00:52:04] Yeah.

[00:52:06] Yeah.

[00:52:07] It's that's, that's, that's some shit.

[00:52:09] Yeah.

[00:52:10] Mecha wispy woods.

[00:52:11] Like, can we, can we take it?

[00:52:14] Can we take a moment please?

[00:52:15] Cause wow.

[00:52:17] I mean, like I thought wispy woods and forgotten land was insane and it is, but like this also

[00:52:24] was just like, okay, y'all are, this is going to be good.

[00:52:28] Yeah.

[00:52:28] They gave them drills for feet and it tries to fucking drill you.

[00:52:33] Unbelievable.

[00:52:34] Wispy woods actually comes after you.

[00:52:37] What's everybody's favorite copy ability in this game?

[00:52:40] Just one, the one that you, you always gravitate towards.

[00:52:44] Cause the game does a really good job of giving you like a good mix of different abilities

[00:52:48] in each level that you can pick.

[00:52:49] But there's, there's one that I always, I can tell you which one's not my favorite.

[00:52:53] And that's the magic one.

[00:52:55] I did not like the magic one.

[00:52:57] Cause you know why it's short.

[00:52:59] It has a, a, a short range and then like the dash ability for it is that Kirby splits

[00:53:05] into two and that's it.

[00:53:07] I also didn't really like the PK one.

[00:53:11] I think the magic is actually better.

[00:53:14] The magic one is actually better than triple deluxe.

[00:53:16] That's what I was thinking of.

[00:53:17] Cause I was like, wait, I like that one.

[00:53:18] I was like, no, actually I like it in a different game.

[00:53:20] So.

[00:53:23] Before I go to the ones that I really like, I lied.

[00:53:26] We can pick, we can pick like three of our favorites, but I really fucking hate the

[00:53:30] clown copy ability.

[00:53:31] That was pretty stupid too.

[00:53:33] Cause you, you just flip around and you juggle and shit.

[00:53:35] Like it was, it's kind of cool.

[00:53:37] Cause you can like do the, the gigantic leaps through enemies and shit, but like, God forbid

[00:53:41] you're near a ledge and then you just.

[00:53:43] Yeah.

[00:53:44] I like it.

[00:53:45] I don't know.

[00:53:46] I'm into it.

[00:53:47] I like the, I like that one.

[00:53:50] I, oh, the mirror one.

[00:53:52] I also don't like the mirror one.

[00:53:53] I think that's the one that I was calling magic.

[00:53:56] I like, I like the, the doctor, the doctor's fun.

[00:53:59] Cause the dash ability is him hitting you with a fucking clipboard.

[00:54:04] And then the down attack is him like mixing potions to make like fire or electricity or

[00:54:12] ice.

[00:54:13] That's the best one.

[00:54:14] Even though it doesn't do a lot of damage.

[00:54:16] I like the cowboy one with the whip.

[00:54:18] Yeah, dude.

[00:54:19] Oh yeah.

[00:54:20] Uh, that one's cool.

[00:54:21] The sword one is really cool.

[00:54:22] Uh, which, which one was the one that I liked the most?

[00:54:25] I think the one that I liked the most was just the robot with the cutter.

[00:54:28] Cause it just looks so cool when he's like throwing the, the gears.

[00:54:33] The little buzz saw.

[00:54:34] Yeah.

[00:54:35] Arc right back to his, to his little robot arms and shit.

[00:54:38] My favorite is definitely the doctor that, that, that, that shit's ridiculous.

[00:54:41] I don't know why.

[00:54:42] I don't know why Dr. Kirby is not a smash character.

[00:54:45] I did like the leaf one.

[00:54:47] The leaf one is very good for, for momentum.

[00:54:50] Yeah.

[00:54:50] Cause he turns into a leaf tornado whenever you're running and you attack.

[00:54:54] Yeah.

[00:54:54] Shit goes fast.

[00:54:56] Dude.

[00:54:57] I really liked the, uh, the poison one where, um, like the dash attack is him like surfing

[00:55:01] on a poison wave.

[00:55:03] Yep.

[00:55:03] And then you can easily cheese some bosses worth like his up, his up attack is just him

[00:55:09] squirting this constant, like, uh, upstream of poison.

[00:55:13] What was it?

[00:55:13] His, I think it's like a side B or regular, regular B.

[00:55:16] You just, just pooed out a little puff of like poison and it just constantly damages the

[00:55:22] enemies over time and shit.

[00:55:23] That one was, was really, really cool.

[00:55:25] But yeah, the doctor one's really good.

[00:55:26] The, the whip one is cool.

[00:55:28] Hell yeah.

[00:55:29] Yeah.

[00:55:29] Doctor doctor's gotta be my favorite.

[00:55:32] Doctor Kirby for president.

[00:55:33] I think they, they did the martial arts one the best in this game, but you don't really

[00:55:39] get it a lot.

[00:55:41] No.

[00:55:42] Yeah.

[00:55:42] I can actually kind of forgot it was in this game.

[00:55:44] Yeah.

[00:55:45] It's really good, but you don't get it a lot.

[00:55:48] Yeah.

[00:55:48] Yeah.

[00:55:48] They kind of push the, uh, the newer ones actually a lot.

[00:55:51] They push the rock one a lot too.

[00:55:52] God damn it.

[00:55:53] I don't want to be the rock.

[00:55:54] I like the rock and the robot on me.

[00:55:55] God damn it.

[00:55:56] The rock and the robot is cool, but if for regular Kirby's yeah, it's not that fun.

[00:56:00] No more rock.

[00:56:02] They're never going to get rid of the, that's been there forever.

[00:56:05] It's in every fucking game.

[00:56:06] They're never going to not have the rock.

[00:56:08] Unfortunately.

[00:56:10] Or the, um, the sleep one, which I, I think it is just like a gag.

[00:56:14] They only have it in there.

[00:56:15] It's like a gag.

[00:56:15] Gotta have it.

[00:56:17] There's one of the scrolling stages where there's like three sleep bubbles, like one

[00:56:22] after the other.

[00:56:23] Yes.

[00:56:24] And yeah.

[00:56:25] And there's kind of like a little pit where if you touch it, you'll just fall asleep

[00:56:28] right there and the screen will kill you.

[00:56:32] Why would that happen to me?

[00:56:33] Why would they do that?

[00:56:36] That I told you, man, that was someone's idea.

[00:56:38] What if we put a sleep guy?

[00:56:39] I'm telling you, someone just thought of this and that did happen to me.

[00:56:42] So whoever thought of that, thank you.

[00:56:44] Cause it worked on me.

[00:56:47] Fucking motherfuckers.

[00:56:48] And yeah, what's what I also liked about this game.

[00:56:50] I mean, I guess other Kirby games also have collectibles, but like the, the code cubes

[00:56:55] are really fun to collect because they put, they hide them in really smart ways instead

[00:56:58] of just being like, Oh, you broke a box.

[00:57:01] Here it is.

[00:57:02] Or instead of being like, Oh, it's just, you know, go up and there it is.

[00:57:05] They, they hide them in these cool, like, uh, I think it's on the train.

[00:57:10] Actually, you, uh, there'll be an area where you get a battery from doing something

[00:57:14] and you carry that like quite a fucking ways toward like the middle end ish on the level.

[00:57:20] And then bam code cube in the factory levels.

[00:57:23] There's a lot of really, really, or no, there's a couple of like shmup levels where at the beginning,

[00:57:28] it'll tell you like, Hey, go up, up, and then down to the left.

[00:57:32] And there's a code cube for you.

[00:57:34] And you can do that kind of shit.

[00:57:35] But, uh, what did you guys think about those?

[00:57:38] There were a couple of fun ones.

[00:57:39] There was one where it was start with fire, go to ice, then electricity, and you'll find a cube.

[00:57:46] That one was, was fun.

[00:57:48] Uh, I've yeah.

[00:57:49] I liked one towards the ending of the game where it was, it was a very long path where you had to hit a bunch of switches for all of the blocks to break.

[00:57:58] So that at the end, you could get the code cube.

[00:58:01] Um, I mostly like about the code cubes that you have to play the game and look at everything and try to do everything in order to be rewarded with the cubes.

[00:58:12] So it's not like in forgotten land when they're like, Oh, killed the boss without taking any damage, making you know, if you take damage, you're going to have to replay the level all over again.

[00:58:22] It's basically just, you can get all the cubes in one go if you want, if you're good enough, which it's really easy.

[00:58:29] So I think that's why I liked doing them a lot in Robobot because typically collectibles like that on a platformer are not something I care about ever.

[00:58:38] That's just not me.

[00:58:39] So in this, it, like you said, it's because collecting them is gameplay.

[00:58:44] Like the, the example you have with the, you know, hitting the switches along the way and you get it.

[00:58:48] Oh God.

[00:58:49] I mean, Aaron, you mentioned dream.

[00:58:51] I almost said dreamcast, uh, dream, dreamland three earlier and got a good fucking luck to you.

[00:58:59] If you want to get all the shit in that game, like, cause it's so esoteric sometimes because you get to the end and it's like, whoever is sad because you didn't do whatever.

[00:59:07] And it's like, I didn't even know what I was supposed to do.

[00:59:09] You know, it's just like, how do I even know?

[00:59:11] And then like, but Robobot, there's none of that.

[00:59:14] So I really appreciate that.

[00:59:15] And that's what made them fun to collect because collecting them was gameplay.

[00:59:18] It wasn't just, you know, do you do this weird challenge that we want you to do, which, you know, that there's nothing wrong with that either.

[00:59:25] I didn't mind doing them in forgotten land because like with your example, oh, kill the boss and no damage or something like that.

[00:59:31] I think that stuff's fine, but this Robobot is a lot more fun with it.

[00:59:35] Yeah.

[00:59:35] There's the biggest thing about the code cubes for me in this game is that you can get all of them in one go, which to me is big.

[00:59:47] Cause I feel like the game respects my time by doing that.

[00:59:51] Yeah.

[00:59:51] That is the biggest reason why I didn't like Mario wonder because you cannot get in a lot of stages, all of the seeds in one go.

[01:00:00] You would have to play the stage, come back, replay it a different way in order to get everything.

[01:00:05] I don't want to fucking do that.

[01:00:06] I just want to go through the stage once, do everything.

[01:00:08] If I fuck up and I have to do it again, fine.

[01:00:11] It was my mistake.

[01:00:12] It wasn't the game being annoying.

[01:00:16] I hear you.

[01:00:17] I didn't do all that stuff in Mario wonder either, but again, that's just not, that's just not what it really, what I do in platformers.

[01:00:23] Robobot is definitely an exception.

[01:00:25] Yeah.

[01:00:27] Yeah.

[01:00:27] And yet, uh, even with like the, the, the stickers to those were sometimes kind of cool, but near the code cubes, I fuck, I forget what you get when you get all of them.

[01:00:40] Uh, I think you just get like the EX levels or something or, or no, no, you need them to unlock like the next, the next areas and like progress the game and shit.

[01:00:51] And yeah, they also unlock the, the bonus levels.

[01:00:54] Yeah, that's right.

[01:00:55] Um, and then, then they give you those stickers that you can decorate your armor with, which is kind of cool.

[01:00:59] I just plastered mine with like snowman and shit.

[01:01:02] I didn't know that.

[01:01:05] It's pretty cool.

[01:01:06] And that's pretty much it for the gameplay, man.

[01:01:10] I mean, I guess no, no.

[01:01:11] Cause there's the cool mini games, like the cool, uh, the, the meta night mini game thing where you can play through the game is meta night.

[01:01:18] And it's Chris mentioned a momentum.

[01:01:22] Holy shit.

[01:01:22] With meta night, dude, you just, they basically condensed the whole game down into like four quick segments, I think.

[01:01:29] And it's basically like speed run mode.

[01:01:31] You speed run through the whole thing with meta night.

[01:01:33] When you kill enemies, you collect these little like drops of energy, which you can use to do like one of four moves like heal or do like a screen clearing attack and shit like that.

[01:01:43] But fuck, it's so cool, man.

[01:01:45] It's, it's fun to just like swipe through enemies with meta night with a sword and just like jump, jump, and then clear out levels as fast as fucking humanly possible.

[01:01:55] I did not try this mode, honestly.

[01:01:57] So maybe now you're kind of making me want to.

[01:02:00] It's good.

[01:02:01] That's cool, man.

[01:02:02] It's, it kind of like, uh, it's kind of like a greatest hits of the main campaign.

[01:02:07] So you're not going to hit every single stage, but you will hit them one after the other.

[01:02:11] You don't go into a menu to select a stage.

[01:02:14] Okay.

[01:02:14] Interesting.

[01:02:25] And then to the train and then to the level after that, I forget.

[01:02:30] But yeah, it's, uh, there's also, fuck, what is the other one called?

[01:02:35] Not the arena.

[01:02:36] I haven't tried the arena yet.

[01:02:37] Oh, Kirby 3d rumble, which is like a, like a puzzle game kind of, which kind of ish, I guess, because you inhale enemies and basically just have to like clear out, clear all the enemies.

[01:02:48] And you get a bonus multipliers and points for clearing out multiple enemies with one attack or one move, shit like that.

[01:02:55] It's, it's kind of fun, but it's no meta night returns, man.

[01:02:59] That meta night return.

[01:03:00] Yeah, I don't, I, I typically don't like in Kirby.

[01:03:03] This is not just a robot thing.

[01:03:05] I typically in Kirby games.

[01:03:06] Don't typically do these other modes very much like they exist.

[01:03:11] I know people like them.

[01:03:12] Obviously they exist for a reason, but that's not, uh, maybe that's why I don't like superstar that much.

[01:03:16] Cause that feels like that's the entire game.

[01:03:19] Here are these other modes, bitch.

[01:03:20] I just want to, I want a Kirby, you know?

[01:03:24] So like, yeah.

[01:03:25] So like maybe that's the reason why, but yeah, I, I gotta try the meta night thing.

[01:03:30] You're actually making me want to try it.

[01:03:32] They are fun.

[01:03:33] I, I love the Castlevania series and I always like messing around a little bit with whatever Belmont mode they have where, whether it's Julius mode or whatever.

[01:03:44] I like messing with it.

[01:03:46] I don't want to complete the game playing as, as a Belmont.

[01:03:49] Um, but the, the Kirby games, there's an incentive cause it's basically, you have the sword power up plus wings.

[01:03:58] You can definitely fly.

[01:03:59] And the whole point of it is go fast, kill fast.

[01:04:03] So, and at least that, that, that's an allure for me, but I don't know about everybody else.

[01:04:08] Yeah.

[01:04:09] And if you beat, like, I think the meta night thing takes place.

[01:04:14] I think it's like after, after you complete the main game.

[01:04:17] Cause then there's, when you, when you beat the game with meta night, there's like a secret, a secret final boss or a secret boss or something like that that you fight.

[01:04:23] So there's kind of even more of an incentive to beat that.

[01:04:26] I don't know about the fucking, uh, Kirby 3d rumble or whatever the fuck.

[01:04:30] I think that's just his own separate thing, but the meta night, you at least get that secret boss to fight.

[01:04:34] Yeah.

[01:04:35] I'm also, I'm also a Castlevania person and Julius Belmont is my favorite character.

[01:04:40] I cannot play that mode in Donna sorrow.

[01:04:42] Sorry.

[01:04:43] I can't, I just can't, you know, like I, I really can't do stuff like that.

[01:04:47] I can't do it in portrait.

[01:04:48] I can't do it in a, who do you get to play as homeboy in a, in Ecclesia, the homeboy who has like the weird gun.

[01:04:53] I can't do that shit either.

[01:04:55] Yeah, I can't.

[01:04:56] I just, I I'm sorry.

[01:04:57] It's just not for me.

[01:04:58] Right.

[01:04:58] So maybe alternate modes and games like this are just not my thing in general.

[01:05:02] To be honest, Dawn of sorrow is, it's not a great Castlevania game that, that castle and the magic system.

[01:05:09] Wow, dude.

[01:05:09] It's my fucking favorite one.

[01:05:11] How dare you?

[01:05:11] Really?

[01:05:13] Yes.

[01:05:13] Really?

[01:05:14] Yes.

[01:05:15] My absolute favorite.

[01:05:16] Oh man.

[01:05:17] Dre and I are going to fight.

[01:05:19] Wow, dude.

[01:05:20] I'm going to get, I'll get over it.

[01:05:22] I'll get over it.

[01:05:22] Cause Kirby happy fun time.

[01:05:24] Rated D for everyone.

[01:05:25] I will all cuss you out later.

[01:05:27] Happy fun time.

[01:05:29] To be honest.

[01:05:30] I prefer Aria.

[01:05:32] Cause I, that's, that's the Castlevania that cemented the formula for me.

[01:05:35] That's the one that made me understand what a Metroidvania is supposed to be.

[01:05:39] And then when I says the same thing on fine time.

[01:05:42] Yeah.

[01:05:42] With Aria.

[01:05:43] And then when I played Dawn, they changed so much and then they tacked on the whole touch screen.

[01:05:48] And I was like, I, I, I don't, I don't, this is not what I want.

[01:05:52] So much to do.

[01:05:56] Man.

[01:05:56] I love it.

[01:05:57] I don't know what to tell you.

[01:05:58] I fucking love that thing.

[01:05:59] I love drawing them seals.

[01:06:00] I love locking them, locking them full dim.

[01:06:03] You're actually drawing like a seal, like the animal.

[01:06:06] Dim seals.

[01:06:07] Yes.

[01:06:07] Draw an actual seal on there.

[01:06:09] I love that shit.

[01:06:10] I love that.

[01:06:10] And he does it with his hand and it goes fucking give him.

[01:06:16] Take me away.

[01:06:16] I love it.

[01:06:17] Yeah.

[01:06:17] That's my favorite.

[01:06:19] No, I understand what you mean though.

[01:06:20] A lot of people feel that way.

[01:06:21] If I didn't know Kevin, I wouldn't even know that he named his daughter Aria.

[01:06:25] I'll put it that way.

[01:06:26] Oh, that's cool.

[01:06:28] Yeah.

[01:06:28] That's pretty cool.

[01:06:30] Cool.

[01:06:30] Speaking of cool things, let's take an ad break.

[01:06:33] You guys ready?

[01:06:34] Yep.

[01:06:34] Ready.

[01:06:35] Got my pants on.

[01:06:36] What?

[01:06:37] Okay.

[01:06:37] No, take them off.

[01:06:38] Okay.

[01:06:38] Taking them off.

[01:06:40] Curvy, curvy, curvy, that's a game you should know.

[01:06:43] Curvy, curvy, curvy, he's the star of the show.

[01:06:45] He's bald as you think he's got maximum pain.

[01:06:48] Curvy, curvy, curvy's the one.

[01:08:28] So, so liquids, right?

[01:08:30] Are you guys big fans of liquids?

[01:08:32] Yes, I have two right now.

[01:08:34] Plus all the ones inside me.

[01:08:38] That's true.

[01:08:39] Andre, liquids, right?

[01:08:41] Ah, they're fine.

[01:08:43] Sure, I love liquids.

[01:08:45] Okay.

[01:08:45] Well, in case you don't, in case you want to solidify those liquids, it's, I don't know

[01:08:51] a good name yet.

[01:08:51] We'll come back.

[01:08:52] We'll circle back to the name.

[01:08:53] It's liquid thickener.

[01:08:54] It's a, it's a, it's just a couple drops to any liquid and it solidifies like, uh, something

[01:09:01] like, uh, we'll say, we'll say like concrete, I guess.

[01:09:05] Uh, Hey, you tired of your, your orange juice being orange juice?

[01:09:09] Drip drip.

[01:09:11] Orange solid, baby.

[01:09:12] Oh God.

[01:09:15] Please, please don't ingest this.

[01:09:17] It's, it's highly toxic.

[01:09:19] You, you will die.

[01:09:20] Please don't ingest this or really get into your skin, I guess.

[01:09:23] But, uh, hey, lava lamps though, right?

[01:09:26] Drip drip.

[01:09:27] Now it's, uh, fucking rocks.

[01:09:29] Just, uh, bouncing around.

[01:09:30] Now it's just a figure.

[01:09:32] I do have a lava lamp.

[01:09:34] I can, I'm, I'm afraid to test it on mine though.

[01:09:36] My baby.

[01:09:37] It's just going to be a statue.

[01:09:39] That man, it's just a little fucking statue.

[01:09:42] Lava statue.

[01:09:46] Man, mountain dew is good, but guess what?

[01:09:48] Drip drip.

[01:09:49] All mountain rock dew.

[01:09:53] Now I don't fucking, I don't know, man.

[01:09:55] Mountain rock.

[01:09:56] What is this?

[01:09:57] Help me out.

[01:09:57] I'm trying to, I'm trying to think of a name for this product.

[01:10:00] Uh, how about, uh, I don't know.

[01:10:03] Uh, no.

[01:10:04] Uncle Chet's liquid thickener.

[01:10:07] Elixir.

[01:10:08] Liquid elixir thickener.

[01:10:10] Liquid elixir thickener.

[01:10:12] Liquid elixir thickener.

[01:10:13] Liquid elixir thickener.

[01:10:13] That's good.

[01:10:16] Uncle Chet's liquid elixir thickener.

[01:10:20] Here we go.

[01:10:20] Uncle Chet's.

[01:10:21] A couple drops of Uncle Chet's.

[01:10:22] Bam.

[01:10:23] You're solid.

[01:10:24] If, if you are, if your name is Chet and you were an uncle, you are a pervert.

[01:10:28] That's all I have to say.

[01:10:29] It's a pervert name.

[01:10:31] Right?

[01:10:31] What were you trying to clean that you created that, that, that.

[01:10:34] Yeah.

[01:10:35] That made it, man.

[01:10:36] I don't know.

[01:10:37] It's probably, here's the thing.

[01:10:39] He was probably working as a, like a janitor at a school where kids puke a lot.

[01:10:43] Or like at a theme park where kids also puke a lot.

[01:10:46] And he was just like, man, I, there's, there's just no good way to clean this up.

[01:10:49] I'm not spending the money on wood shavings or, or kitty litter.

[01:10:52] Fuck you.

[01:10:53] I'm going to find a way to thicken up this puke more than it already is.

[01:10:57] And then he, Uncle Chet himself was like, like light bulb.

[01:11:02] Voila.

[01:11:03] Here it is.

[01:11:04] Drip, drip.

[01:11:04] And then bam.

[01:11:05] Now the, the vomit is a part of the sidewalk.

[01:11:08] You can walk on it now.

[01:11:09] Don't get your shoes dirty.

[01:11:13] Wow.

[01:11:15] Uncle Chet.

[01:11:15] What an invention.

[01:11:17] Wow.

[01:11:17] That's the origin story right there.

[01:11:18] That's the, that's the, it's on the back of the bottle.

[01:11:22] Like you read the, like how they found, found it in 2003 when they, you know, yeah.

[01:11:26] The funny part, it's, it's, it's written exactly how Aaron said it.

[01:11:30] Guess he read it straight from the bag.

[01:11:34] Yeah.

[01:11:34] Right here.

[01:11:36] Verbatim.

[01:11:37] Yep.

[01:11:38] Right from the package.

[01:11:40] That's the, and that's, that's a slogan to drip drip.

[01:11:43] Now it's a solid.

[01:11:45] Drip drip.

[01:11:46] Now it's solid.

[01:11:50] Oh, holy shit.

[01:11:52] Uh, Chris, what's your favorite way to use a uncle, uncle Chet's liquid elixir thickener?

[01:11:59] For some reason they buy, let's go with uncle Chet's.

[01:12:02] They, they buy a lot of milk in this household.

[01:12:04] So that milk usually turns to go bad in a couple of days.

[01:12:07] So I like to put it in there and then just throw it at the kids that ride their skateboards up and down the road.

[01:12:15] It's, it's, it's doing a really good job of getting rid of the kids.

[01:12:20] Ooh.

[01:12:20] And then you know what?

[01:12:21] You could, you could like, you could save a chunk of that, uh, solid milk for yourself and kind of like chisel away at it.

[01:12:28] And like keep a little piece of yourself and like suck on it.

[01:12:30] Like a lozenge, like a, like a fisherman's friend.

[01:12:32] Yes.

[01:12:32] It's like, um, what, what's it called?

[01:12:34] Cottage cheese, uh, lozenge.

[01:12:36] It's great.

[01:12:37] Oh man.

[01:12:38] Did we invent a new product here on Super Pot Saga?

[01:12:41] Dairy lozenge.

[01:12:42] Hello fish tanker.

[01:12:43] Not fish tank, shark tank.

[01:12:45] Fucking fish tank.

[01:12:46] What the fuck?

[01:12:47] Fish tank lozenge.

[01:12:50] Mm-hmm.

[01:12:51] That, yeah.

[01:12:52] Yeah.

[01:12:52] Fisher, ever had a fisherman's friend though?

[01:12:54] Holy shit.

[01:12:55] Those that'll clear up like, that'll clear your entire, like the upper third of your body

[01:12:59] of like any mucus or like.

[01:13:01] Everything.

[01:13:02] You're so mentholated dude.

[01:13:03] Everything.

[01:13:04] Shit's crazy.

[01:13:05] Oh Dre, favorite Uncle Chet's uses?

[01:13:08] Hit me.

[01:13:09] I like to, you know, I like to play pranks.

[01:13:12] I'm a, I like to play, it's just a prank bro.

[01:13:15] Okay.

[01:13:15] So I like to, I, sometimes I like to put a little drip drip in the toilet, you know?

[01:13:20] And then, um, and then, uh, you know, someone comes by, it's two 30 in the morning.

[01:13:25] You're about to take a piss.

[01:13:25] You stand there and it's just like, you're pissing outside on the concrete.

[01:13:28] Yeah.

[01:13:29] It's just like, it sounds literally like you're on the street and you're out.

[01:13:32] You just, you're too drunk at the bar and you're just pissing on the street.

[01:13:35] And it's like, what is this sound?

[01:13:36] That was not what I was expecting.

[01:13:38] And then it's just like, oh man, I should have turned on the lights.

[01:13:42] It's just a block.

[01:13:43] It's just a block of yellow granite in there.

[01:13:45] That's that, that, that liquid elixir is thick with two C's.

[01:13:50] Like, like, like, like, like, like, yeah.

[01:13:55] Yeah.

[01:13:56] Just in case.

[01:13:57] Yeah.

[01:13:57] You gotta get a jackhammer.

[01:14:00] Dude, could you imagine if you took like a wicked hot dookie and then trip trip and then

[01:14:05] it's just like, and, and the water would be thickened.

[01:14:09] So like the water retains its natural, like, translucence.

[01:14:13] So it's just like a see-through, like solid see-through water.

[01:14:16] There's just like a little poop in there.

[01:14:18] Like coiled up.

[01:14:19] I could have, I could have used that the day I got fantasies are online.

[01:14:23] I'll tell you that much.

[01:14:25] Cause.

[01:14:31] Me, I like to.

[01:14:33] So hearkening back to the, the lozenge talk, whenever, whenever we make soup here in this

[01:14:39] house and there's way too much leftover, I'm a, I don't want to like load it up into like

[01:14:44] a million bowls and put it in the fridge.

[01:14:45] I want to just, uh, again, drip, drip.

[01:14:48] And then, uh, now I have little, little, little suckable lozenges of soup.

[01:14:53] I don't know.

[01:14:54] It's, it's the future of food.

[01:14:56] Can we talk about how hard it is to store soup?

[01:15:00] Oh God.

[01:15:01] It's so tough.

[01:15:02] It's a bitch.

[01:15:02] It's wild.

[01:15:03] Especially if you make a big ass pot of soup.

[01:15:05] You can't put that whole thing in there.

[01:15:06] I can't put it in my fridge.

[01:15:07] I'll tell you that much.

[01:15:08] So damn.

[01:15:10] Yeah.

[01:15:11] It's a total fucking pain, man.

[01:15:13] Um, this way.

[01:15:14] Thank you.

[01:15:15] Much more convenient.

[01:15:16] Thank you.

[01:15:17] That's right.

[01:15:17] I'm sorry for calling you a pervert at the beginning of the segment.

[01:15:20] That's okay.

[01:15:21] He is.

[01:15:22] Okay.

[01:15:23] He didn't spend three years in prison for nothing.

[01:15:28] I mean, he paid his debt to society.

[01:15:30] That's how he shortened his, his, uh, sentence.

[01:15:34] It wasn't good behavior because he was not behaving well in prison, but.

[01:15:39] No, Uncle Chet's a real fucker.

[01:15:42] For sure.

[01:15:44] You have to be doing vent something like this.

[01:15:46] Oh man.

[01:15:48] Oh shit.

[01:15:49] Thanks, Uncle Chet for sponsoring this episode.

[01:15:52] Thank you.

[01:16:02] Holy shit.

[01:16:03] My, my pipes are all blocked up, dude.

[01:16:06] I need Pepsi after that.

[01:16:08] Let's see.

[01:16:09] Yeah.

[01:16:10] You know, it's funny.

[01:16:11] You, you made that up and that shit actually exists, but for getting rid of grease.

[01:16:15] Yes.

[01:16:16] That's what I was thinking of.

[01:16:17] What the liquid thickener.

[01:16:19] Yeah.

[01:16:19] It's like a powder.

[01:16:20] You pour it on like frying grease and it basically makes it a solid shit that you can scoop out

[01:16:26] of the bowl and throw it out.

[01:16:29] Yeah.

[01:16:30] Holy shit.

[01:16:31] We, we've usually just like, if, uh, if we have an empty container or like anything,

[01:16:35] like say if, if I make like a, a cup of noodles, you know, and we usually just like,

[01:16:40] what's the grease cools down and then we'll just pour into like the, the noodle cup

[01:16:44] or like pour into like a fucking soda bottle or something and then just throw it away.

[01:16:49] Yeah.

[01:16:50] We, we have a hole in the backyard where we pour everything.

[01:16:54] Okay.

[01:16:55] Throw it in the liquid.

[01:16:56] Throw it in the hole.

[01:16:57] Throw it in the liquid hole.

[01:16:58] The other day I cleared out the freezer cause I made groceries and I bought a bunch of freezer

[01:17:02] shit and I threw like two year old pasta sauce in the hole.

[01:17:07] Oh my God.

[01:17:09] Is this real?

[01:17:10] Is this really like.

[01:17:11] Roast beef juice, everything.

[01:17:12] Yeah.

[01:17:12] Yeah.

[01:17:12] It's a, it's basically a hole off to the side where the trees are and I just throw everything

[01:17:17] there.

[01:17:17] Hopefully the cats get into it and enjoy a home cooked meal.

[01:17:21] Have fun.

[01:17:23] You just, you just, you've got this like fucking, um, um, silence of the lambs hole, but like

[01:17:31] you're just throwing soup and shit in there.

[01:17:33] See, I say hole, but it's more like a puddle.

[01:17:37] I like the, I just like the primordial primordial ooze aspect of it.

[01:17:41] It's just like, okay, so you're sending it back to the earth.

[01:17:44] Right.

[01:17:45] It's like the one patch where grass doesn't grow.

[01:17:47] Yeah.

[01:17:49] That's from all the fucking grease and like pasta you've thrown in.

[01:17:52] It's like that episode of it's always sunny where they're talking about that.

[01:17:55] Like that's a, the yuck puddle.

[01:17:57] Like it's not a liquid, but it's not a solid.

[01:18:00] Like why doesn't it, why doesn't it evaporate?

[01:18:02] Like yuck.

[01:18:04] Yeah, pretty much.

[01:18:05] Hey, we're back though with more Kirby Kirby, right back at you.

[01:18:09] Uh, shout out to the Kirby anime or cartoon or whatever.

[01:18:12] I love that in that cartoon, they gave a DDD the most Texas ass accent ever.

[01:18:20] It was great.

[01:18:21] I thought that was inspired.

[01:18:22] I'm going to catch a Kirby.

[01:18:24] Perfect.

[01:18:25] Loved it.

[01:18:26] Dude.

[01:18:27] That theme song was a fucking ball slapper too.

[01:18:30] Kirby Kirby Kirby.

[01:18:31] Saving the day.

[01:18:32] Kirby Kirby Kirby.

[01:18:33] He's here to stay.

[01:18:35] I didn't mean to throw so much like Louis Armstrong on it.

[01:18:38] You went, you went, uh, you went ham on that one.

[01:18:41] Yeah.

[01:18:41] That's a, you've, you've been practicing that in the mirror, haven't you?

[01:18:44] I don't know why you're doing it in the mirror, but.

[01:18:47] Maybe.

[01:18:48] Okay.

[01:18:48] No, that, that theme song is just, it's good, man.

[01:18:51] I used to watch that cartoon all.

[01:18:53] So when Fox, when Fox kids first became the Fox box and they were like, Hey, we have

[01:18:58] Sonic X and Kirby right back at you and fighting food ons for anybody that remembers fighting

[01:19:03] food ons, the show sucks ass, but they had it and I watched it and it was cool for

[01:19:07] me as a kid.

[01:19:08] Cause they had a, they had a hot dog character named hot dog on it.

[01:19:11] He was a cowboy and he went hot dog on it.

[01:19:13] And he had ketchup and mustard fucking handguns.

[01:19:16] Guns?

[01:19:16] He shot ketchup and mustard.

[01:19:19] Yeah.

[01:19:19] I mean, they were, they were shaped like a ketchup and mustard bottles, but they had

[01:19:22] like little like gun handles and he went all hot dog on it and would shoot ketchup

[01:19:26] and mustard.

[01:19:27] I can't imagine why this flopped at all.

[01:19:30] Wow.

[01:19:30] Now I wonder what bullet would hurt more of ketchup bullet or mustard bullet.

[01:19:36] And if it's mustard, what kind of mustard?

[01:19:38] Is it Dijon?

[01:19:39] Is it yellow mustard?

[01:19:41] Spicy brown?

[01:19:43] Was it ketchup or catsup?

[01:19:45] Right.

[01:19:46] I feel like mustard, no matter what, I feel like mustard would be a spicy.

[01:19:50] I feel like if we'd get into your pores and feel kind of, you know, I'm kind of feeling

[01:19:55] the burn right now thinking about it.

[01:19:57] Yeah.

[01:19:57] Yeah.

[01:19:57] For sure.

[01:19:59] Mustard has a lot of sugar and vinegar in it.

[01:20:03] Mm hmm.

[01:20:04] That is true.

[01:20:04] I think I'm going mustard though.

[01:20:06] I'm feeling, I'm feeling the spicy bird mustard.

[01:20:09] Spicy bird.

[01:20:10] Yeah.

[01:20:11] I think the mustard one would hurt more, but I think the ketchup one would get infected

[01:20:14] easier.

[01:20:16] Oh yeah.

[01:20:17] Oh, we attract way more flies too.

[01:20:20] Oh yeah.

[01:20:20] How much sugar is in there?

[01:20:21] Those flies.

[01:20:22] They're buzzing.

[01:20:23] Yeah.

[01:20:24] They're buzzing.

[01:20:25] Speaking of buzzing though, let's talk about the fucking soundtrack to this game.

[01:20:29] Oh my God, dude.

[01:20:30] Andre and I both agreed that it's really, really fucking good for a Kirby game.

[01:20:34] Chris, you don't like it though.

[01:20:36] I don't dislike it.

[01:20:38] I think it's.

[01:20:39] Okay.

[01:20:39] Right.

[01:20:41] I'm not trying to, I'm trying to shame you, but yeah, man, I, the, the soundtrack to

[01:20:47] Forgotten Land, I think is still probably my favorite that or, um, um, um, um, um, um,

[01:20:54] what the fuck is it called?

[01:20:57] Uh, one of the ones on Game Boy Advance.

[01:21:00] Amazing.

[01:21:00] The remake of the first one.

[01:21:02] Oh, um, no, the other one, um, return to dreamland nightmare, nightmare, nightmare

[01:21:08] nightmare.

[01:21:08] Yeah.

[01:21:09] That one had some really, really good songs too.

[01:21:11] But, uh, mine is definitely forgotten world or amazing mirrors.

[01:21:16] My two, my two favorites probably put forgotten world above it.

[01:21:21] Dude.

[01:21:21] Forgotten world had that one track where like, when you're, when you're in the, like little,

[01:21:27] um, the, the, the bonus areas where you go to, I think you get like the crystals or like

[01:21:33] the star crystals or whatever.

[01:21:35] Um, the track that played in there was really good.

[01:21:38] And then the snowy city area.

[01:21:40] Holy fuck.

[01:21:40] Oh yeah.

[01:21:41] Those tracks are always really good.

[01:21:42] Killing it.

[01:21:43] Um, I think I like, the reason why I like planet Robobot so much, it's not just, you know,

[01:21:49] it can feel like your typical Kirby soundtrack, right?

[01:21:52] Like it's, it's very, it's doing, it's doing a lot of things, maybe not a lot of familiar

[01:21:57] tunes.

[01:21:57] And that's also why I like it.

[01:21:58] They're not doing a whole bunch of callbacks and shit like that.

[01:22:00] But like triple deluxe did, which is fine.

[01:22:03] You know, I'm not saying I don't like to hear those songs in a new format, but Robobot

[01:22:07] is a lot different.

[01:22:08] And I think it, the instrument choices are very key here, right?

[01:22:15] Because like, you hear it even in the intro to the game where it's like when the planet

[01:22:19] Robobot thing, it sends upon pop star and starts drilling in, it starts having that mechanized

[01:22:24] sound.

[01:22:24] It's, you know, all the drum, all the drum tracks kick on.

[01:22:27] And it's like, sometimes it's like drum and bass.

[01:22:29] Sometimes it's like, what's it called?

[01:22:32] A dubstep, right?

[01:22:34] Sometimes it's just very, like, it has that real March beat to it where they're layering

[01:22:39] drums on top of each other.

[01:22:40] And I really liked that stuff.

[01:22:42] I really liked thematic things like that in music, in video games.

[01:22:47] So when you get to places that are more mechanized, you hear that stuff more often.

[01:22:53] Plus when you get into like a place that's like a bonus room or something, it straight up

[01:22:56] sounds like a chip tune sometimes, you know?

[01:22:59] So it's like this very varied soundtrack while still giving you Kirby, you know?

[01:23:04] And then there's this, there's this other side of it that has this real, I don't want

[01:23:11] to say jazzy more like, like Japanese, like city pop vibe.

[01:23:15] Right.

[01:23:16] Where it's like this, like, you know, you're outdoors where, you know, obviously our favorite,

[01:23:20] our favorite song between us has that we'll probably talk about in a sec.

[01:23:24] But yeah, I just, I think the instrument choices make a key.

[01:23:29] There's guitars when it really is really amping up when you're going through a real

[01:23:32] fast place, right?

[01:23:33] Or get into a boss, right?

[01:23:34] All the boss themes are kicking.

[01:23:36] I just think it's a great soundtrack.

[01:23:38] Um, again, maybe not my absolute favorite Kirby soundtrack, but definitely a great one

[01:23:43] and great thematic elements to it.

[01:23:45] So, um, I, I think the biggest reason why I didn't, I don't have anything to say much

[01:23:51] about the soundtrack is because I'm playing, I was playing on a 2DS XL.

[01:23:55] The speakers for the 2DS XL kind of suck.

[01:23:58] They're, they're, they're kind of awful.

[01:24:01] Um, and I wasn't using headphones and the game, the, the, the effects for when you hit

[01:24:08] stuff, pick up stuff, do whatever are so loud that they kind of overshadow the music.

[01:24:15] Now there will be times where I would walk in somewhere and you would have a variation

[01:24:21] of the Kirby theme play.

[01:24:23] And I would pick that up.

[01:24:24] I would, I would recognize it, but most of the music just, you know, I don't

[01:24:28] fell flat either because I couldn't really hear it or I wasn't looking for it.

[01:24:34] So, and honestly, I, I, as much as I love music, I don't really have music or soundtracks

[01:24:45] stick with me unless there's something exceptional like persona or, you know, Mario or stuff like

[01:24:53] that.

[01:24:54] It usually soundtracks don't stick with me.

[01:24:57] Okay.

[01:24:58] I get that, man.

[01:25:00] Well, I've, uh, between the three of us, we've all picked some, some pretty varying or, uh,

[01:25:07] a good variety of, of songs actually.

[01:25:09] So they had the first one we're gonna do is sky high and smitten.

[01:25:13] Oh, you got the soundboard.

[01:25:15] Ah, is that, is that too loud?

[01:25:17] No, this is never too loud.

[01:25:20] Listen to that shit, man.

[01:25:24] It's slapping.

[01:25:24] Fucking flute.

[01:25:26] That's a good bass.

[01:25:27] Two, two, two.

[01:25:28] I'm doing the flute totally wrong.

[01:25:30] What the fuck?

[01:25:30] I don't know what the fuck instrument this is.

[01:25:32] What I really like about this song is that the lead instrument.

[01:25:36] See, now we're on this brass.

[01:25:37] The lead instrument changes like almost every couple of bars.

[01:25:40] Right?

[01:25:40] So it's like, it gives you this like feel.

[01:25:44] Yeah.

[01:25:45] This is that, that city jazz that you were talking about.

[01:25:48] Yeah.

[01:25:48] City pop.

[01:25:49] Yeah.

[01:25:49] It sounds exactly like, like seventies and eighties, like Japanese city pop.

[01:25:53] That's exactly what it's like to me anyway.

[01:25:56] That's good.

[01:25:57] This really, this give me real hard, like, uh, uh, uh, like early Shin Megami Tensei vibes, man.

[01:26:05] Shin Megami Tensei nine.

[01:26:07] This screams Digimon to me.

[01:26:09] Oh, that too.

[01:26:11] Well, you know, what's really great about the song to the level that it appears in.

[01:26:16] It's all like, but go ahead.

[01:26:19] You, you heard part of the Kirby theme in the song.

[01:26:24] See, that's what I would pick up on.

[01:26:27] Okay.

[01:26:27] Yeah.

[01:26:28] See, I'm actually, I'm actually pretty shitty at picking up on stuff like that.

[01:26:31] Like I had, I have noticed when I heard it, you know, but like, I'm actually, oh, that recalls that there's like, if it's at a, I'm actually, I'm actually pretty shitty at picking up on stuff like that.

[01:26:38] I mean, if it's at a different tempo and a different instrument or something, it's hard for my brain to make a connection sometimes.

[01:26:42] But yeah, after a while of listening, I was like, oh yeah, of course.

[01:26:45] But yeah, the, the level that it appears in is really key.

[01:26:49] Obviously it's in the highway stage and it's like, yeah, cars are whizzing by Chris.

[01:26:56] You talked about like how, you know, the cars are coming through and whatever you're running across highways or cross bridges.

[01:27:01] You're jumping up through apartment buildings and whatever the backgrounds, the buildings are like, they're, they're like doing a sound visualizer.

[01:27:09] Like the windows on the buildings are like, you know, like going up and down almost like a digital equalizer or something from back in the day.

[01:27:16] Right.

[01:27:16] Or it's like high five rush kind of where shit's just like, kind of.

[01:27:20] Yeah.

[01:27:20] Like a little bit to the beat.

[01:27:22] Right.

[01:27:22] I didn't notice that.

[01:27:24] Yeah.

[01:27:24] The background hazards are, are doing the thing where, where the, the big notes are coming forward towards you into the foreground.

[01:27:31] They even do that with the song with the bump, bump, bump before the reset.

[01:27:35] Right.

[01:27:35] They even do that in the pattern.

[01:27:37] Like that's the, that's the game at that point.

[01:27:39] It's like, what the fuck?

[01:27:40] Even when you get the robot with the speakers, it's also bumping along with the, with the song.

[01:27:46] Like you can see it on the screen.

[01:27:48] All of that stuff combines to make like, quite frankly, my favorite Kirby moment.

[01:27:53] I think that shit is maybe, maybe besides going through the abandoned mall in a forgotten land, maybe, maybe that.

[01:27:59] But like, if I'm picking, those are like one and one a in my brain is, is that because I can't, I cannot separate the song from the visual and the level that it appears in.

[01:28:10] And that's what makes it like, for me, not just the best song, even if I just heard it, it'd be like, this is the shit.

[01:28:16] It's it, it was the game too.

[01:28:18] It was the moment that made it that way.

[01:28:20] By the way, I almost forgot about this, but like the, the, the, the final boss that you face is Kirby.

[01:28:26] Not like, like after, like at the end of the main game, whatever the, the Gurren Lagann ass, like fucking anime, Mecca, fucking Mecca suit final boss battle.

[01:28:38] Holy shit.

[01:28:38] That's so sweet.

[01:28:39] You're just robo Kirby, just annihilating this fucking boss, dude.

[01:28:43] That was so sweet.

[01:28:45] It's incredible.

[01:28:46] Maybe other than, again, other than forgotten land, which I really fucking love.

[01:28:51] That final boss was really good.

[01:28:53] But the one for robo bot was just like, just so fucking cool.

[01:28:58] Yeah.

[01:28:58] I'm smoking a cigarette.

[01:29:00] Yeah.

[01:29:00] It was really cool.

[01:29:03] You did what you did.

[01:29:05] I think you did that when we recorded grandia too.

[01:29:07] I think you did damn near the same thing.

[01:29:08] It was perfect.

[01:29:09] Yeah.

[01:29:11] By the way, do you think like, like with the, with the piccolo, do you think, I wonder how many piccolos someone could play at like one time.

[01:29:17] You think you could do like almost a pan flute kind of thing, but with piccolos like the pan piccolo do like, like duct tape for together and just.

[01:29:25] Oh, like that.

[01:29:26] Okay. I was like, what are you playing a piccolo with your ass or something or like fucking.

[01:29:30] Hell yeah.

[01:29:31] I was like, what do you, what do you mean?

[01:29:33] Okay.

[01:29:33] That makes more sense.

[01:29:35] Even though it's still stupid.

[01:29:39] It's very stupid.

[01:29:42] It's great.

[01:29:43] It's great.

[01:29:44] No.

[01:29:45] Yeah.

[01:29:46] I remember what you're talking about.

[01:29:48] The last boss.

[01:29:48] Yeah, that shit is incredible.

[01:29:50] Yeah, it's one of the, you know, it's something I've never said about Kirby games until this.

[01:29:54] I never have gotten to say about Kirby games to this point.

[01:29:57] The music actually does heighten the game.

[01:30:00] It's part of the game in a way that I feel is inseparable.

[01:30:03] And I would never say that about any other Kirby game.

[01:30:05] It's like, yeah, here's the game, the music, you know?

[01:30:08] Yeah, of course they're together.

[01:30:09] But in this game, they feel like one on the spiritual sexual level.

[01:30:14] Spiritual sexual level.

[01:30:15] Spiritual sexual level.

[01:30:17] See, now I feel like I gotta buy another 3DS and just replay the game all over again.

[01:30:21] Cause I didn't pick any of that up.

[01:30:22] Play with headphones, man.

[01:30:24] Play with headphones, I promise.

[01:30:25] Even if you don't do like full on headphones, do like an earbud.

[01:30:31] So if your wife is telling you about some stuff, you can be like, it's great, babe.

[01:30:36] Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.

[01:30:38] And you're just like, you're schmoving.

[01:30:40] Like, all right, I'll get to it in the middle.

[01:30:42] Hold on.

[01:30:42] Invisible dicks like...

[01:30:48] You're playing your piccolo.

[01:30:57] Fuck yeah, dude.

[01:31:00] The next one is Neon Laboratory.

[01:31:02] Let's see.

[01:31:03] Oh yeah, this is the shit.

[01:31:05] I think this is Chris's pic, right?

[01:31:08] Might be.

[01:31:12] I love it.

[01:31:15] See, this wasn't my original pic.

[01:31:18] My original pic was this one song that's kind of like...

[01:31:24] It's very short, but it's jungle.

[01:31:29] It's jungle.

[01:31:30] It's like drum and bass, but it's lower, bit faster.

[01:31:34] I couldn't find it.

[01:31:37] Let's see if I can find the name.

[01:31:38] I'll let you know, see if maybe you can queue it up.

[01:31:40] But this one is really good.

[01:31:42] This is an excellent one, yeah.

[01:31:46] If you find the name of it, let me know, man.

[01:31:47] I can download it on...

[01:31:49] Shout out to KH Insider, baby.

[01:31:53] Our favorite site.

[01:31:54] No, this song is great because it has a lot of that drum layering I was talking about.

[01:31:58] I really enjoy it on that level.

[01:32:01] Yeah, dude.

[01:32:03] I love any song that does that.

[01:32:05] You're gonna get me with that.

[01:32:11] This is excellent.

[01:32:14] It takes you right back there, huh?

[01:32:16] It's one of those songs that's like, oh yeah, I remember that.

[01:32:20] This like...

[01:32:22] It kind of doesn't feel like a Kirby song, but then it kind of does because you have like that like...

[01:32:26] I don't know how to explain it that like...

[01:32:31] Like you hear a lot of other Kirby songs.

[01:32:33] Yeah.

[01:32:33] If that makes any sense at all.

[01:32:35] Yeah, no, that's what I was trying to say.

[01:32:37] It feels Kirby familiar, but it's not like, you know, songs necessarily that you've heard before.

[01:32:43] It's pretty original.

[01:32:45] Alright, so the song is called The Forgotten Heart.

[01:32:50] So it does kind of like an intro and then it goes into the usual jungle.

[01:32:58] That one I really like.

[01:32:59] Love it.

[01:33:02] Which I'm surprised they didn't have more EDM in what I looked through.

[01:33:08] Yeah.

[01:33:10] You know, it's interesting.

[01:33:11] I mean, obviously...

[01:33:14] I mean, you don't really think about too much, especially for like a platformer of like, you know, soundtrack's being like fairly timely, but honestly, they can be like Super Mario World sounds like 1991.

[01:33:24] You know, it just does.

[01:33:26] Yeah.

[01:33:27] You know, and it's all the orchestra hits, all the...

[01:33:30] You know, it's just, it sounds like the time.

[01:33:33] And so does Robobot.

[01:33:34] It sounds like 2016.

[01:33:36] Because it came out at a time where, you know, EDM was still somewhat prevalent, even though it was going down because trap was the thing that was coming up in that time.

[01:33:46] Yeah, trap was coming up.

[01:33:47] Yeah.

[01:33:47] But EDM was still relevant.

[01:33:49] And this being a whole game about cyber stuff, you'd think, you know, you'd have EDM.

[01:33:54] See that jungle beat in the back?

[01:33:58] Yep.

[01:33:59] That, this one I really, really liked.

[01:34:01] I used to listen to hell of jungle when I was in my teen years. Holy shit.

[01:34:06] 90s, 90s was jungle time.

[01:34:09] So yeah, this is, that's very appealing to me.

[01:34:12] But the random keystrokes in between, so good.

[01:34:15] Yeah, dude.

[01:34:16] Yeah.

[01:34:17] The one I picked out is Submarine Suburbs.

[01:34:21] Oh yeah.

[01:34:22] This reminds me, this hella reminds me of Bomberman Hero a little bit.

[01:34:29] You're always going to get me with a song like this.

[01:34:32] I love this shit.

[01:34:36] Is this a, is this play when you're actually underwater?

[01:34:39] Or is it one of those hybrid levels where it's like, do you remember?

[01:34:43] It's not too important if you don't remember whatever.

[01:34:46] I forget.

[01:34:46] I'm pretty sure it is, but I, I, I, I can't remember for sure.

[01:34:51] It doesn't matter.

[01:34:52] Um, going, I mean, like we were talking about momentum, right?

[01:35:03] And this makes you feel it.

[01:35:05] I understand that.

[01:35:06] Like, so I'm a fan of underwater levels and I know some people don't like them because

[01:35:10] they feel like they're not momentous or they're too slow or whatever.

[01:35:13] I always like underwater levels and platformers.

[01:35:15] I think they're necessary for breaking up flow.

[01:35:17] And this one just makes you feel like you're going somewhere.

[01:35:22] It has that movement feeling.

[01:35:24] And that's just so important to Robobot's gameplay.

[01:35:26] It's all again, the spiritual sexual level telling you this.

[01:35:36] This is good.

[01:35:37] You also kind of hear the Kirby theme in it slowed down a little bit stretched apart, but

[01:35:44] it's there.

[01:35:47] I didn't notice that.

[01:35:49] See, I would never, I didn't notice it in the song.

[01:35:52] That's for sure.

[01:35:57] I like this.

[01:35:58] This is good, dude.

[01:36:05] I love, I love fucking, um, tracks from water levels.

[01:36:11] Like, so this, uh, obviously the one from Mario 64, the one from Donkey Kong Country,

[01:36:17] fucking the one from Glover.

[01:36:19] Uh, I can't think of any more off the top of my head, but water levels always have like

[01:36:24] the best fucking tracks or like the one from Mario three, dude.

[01:36:28] Mario Bros three.

[01:36:29] Holy shit.

[01:36:30] I like the one from new super Mario brothers a lot too.

[01:36:33] That's like one of my favorites.

[01:36:34] I know people like the shit on those games, but I like that song.

[01:36:40] Rack.

[01:36:40] Holy shit.

[01:36:41] You know what?

[01:36:41] Oh, okay.

[01:36:42] It's okay.

[01:36:43] Just stop.

[01:36:44] You know what?

[01:36:44] Chris, you were talking about finding stuff and other stuff.

[01:36:47] I, in my brain triggered something really, really fucking obscure.

[01:36:51] So how laboratory before, I think it was the last game they made before Kirby.

[01:36:55] It was a, it wasn't exactly a launch game for SNES, but it was damn near close.

[01:36:59] It was called hyper zone.

[01:37:01] It was a mode seven rail shooter, 3d rail shooter.

[01:37:04] I've talked about this game a million times to anyone who will listen.

[01:37:07] Right.

[01:37:08] But, um, of course, Juni Chicago worked at how laboratory at that time.

[01:37:12] So of course he did the soundtrack for hyper zone.

[01:37:15] And I think, again, I think it's the last thing he worked on before Kirby.

[01:37:18] And you can hear in that game, you can hear some stuff that would eventually be Kirby isms,

[01:37:24] right?

[01:37:24] He's starting to get there.

[01:37:25] You can hear it.

[01:37:26] Yeah.

[01:37:26] Kirby isms, but hyper zone is a fan fucking tastic soundtrack.

[01:37:30] Okay.

[01:37:30] Probably my favorite SNES soundtrack.

[01:37:32] He kills it on that.

[01:37:33] There's a song.

[01:37:35] And I, I, if I were thinking more, I probably could have found the hyper zone song and found

[01:37:39] the Robobot song.

[01:37:40] He pulls, he pulls something from hyper zone from the last level of this obscure game he

[01:37:45] worked on.

[01:37:46] And it's in, it's in Robobot.

[01:37:48] Now I don't know who he thought would hear it besides me.

[01:37:51] I'm the one person maybe right.

[01:37:54] Who was who, who would even notice something like that.

[01:37:56] But I did and I heard it and my brain immediately went, Oh shit.

[01:38:02] He, what is wrong with this guy?

[01:38:04] He references hyper zone sometimes like in Kirby's dreamland three.

[01:38:08] I think the last stage is called hyper zone.

[01:38:10] I think.

[01:38:11] Yeah.

[01:38:12] So it was like, I guess maybe it's a, maybe it's a game that he feels a certain way about

[01:38:16] in his life.

[01:38:16] But anyway, yeah, just talking about things that, you know, people composers reuse stuff.

[01:38:21] I did notice that Junishikawa.

[01:38:23] I heard you.

[01:38:23] He, Junishikawa was definitely listening to the show.

[01:38:25] Okay.

[01:38:26] He's hearing my please.

[01:38:28] If he is, if he is, thank you for making such awesome jams.

[01:38:32] Anyway, thanks.

[01:38:33] Thanks for indulging my digression.

[01:38:37] Hell to the, yeah.

[01:38:39] Uh, any dislikes to the game?

[01:38:41] Cause I, I really can't think of anything I didn't really like.

[01:38:45] I find this game almost impossible to criticize.

[01:38:47] Maybe the only thing is that if you're playing in 3d, the frame rate can stutter.

[01:38:53] Sometimes if you're playing in 2d, it's a lock 60.

[01:38:56] If you're playing in 3d, it can chug a little bit.

[01:38:59] Literally.

[01:39:00] That's it.

[01:39:00] I really don't know what bad I can say about this game.

[01:39:04] Same.

[01:39:04] Yeah.

[01:39:05] Chris.

[01:39:07] Hmm.

[01:39:09] I might, I might be able to nitpick.

[01:39:11] Um, I would have loved more of the side scrolling shoot them up levels.

[01:39:18] I would have loved to see an underwater shoot them up side scrolling level.

[01:39:22] Oh, that'd be fun.

[01:39:23] Yeah.

[01:39:24] Um, that, that.

[01:39:26] Like in the hunt, in the hunt.

[01:39:28] Oh yeah.

[01:39:30] Yeah.

[01:39:30] I love in the hunt.

[01:39:31] Um, basically I would love to see a sequel to using the same thing.

[01:39:37] Just make it bigger and better.

[01:39:40] Ooh.

[01:39:40] Yeah.

[01:39:41] Yeah.

[01:39:42] Like, uh, like keep it to keep it like, keep it side scrolly, but put more, put more robo

[01:39:48] or, uh, put more robot suit copy abilities in there.

[01:39:51] That'd be really, really cool.

[01:39:52] More, more segments where you get to use the robo suit a lot more.

[01:39:56] Cause like you do get to use the suit quite often, but like some levels, I feel like you

[01:40:01] would just hop in, move like fucking four feet and then you have to hop out and the rest

[01:40:04] of the level where you're just regular Kirby, but use the suit just a little bit.

[01:40:08] There were a couple of levels where you would start the level as regular Kirby, get in the

[01:40:13] robot suit, solve one puzzle, get out of it.

[01:40:16] Yeah.

[01:40:17] Yeah.

[01:40:18] I guess that does happen.

[01:40:19] Um, I don't know for me.

[01:40:20] I really think the game is a perfect mix for me of that kind of stuff.

[01:40:24] I don't feel like, oh man, I want to use a robot more.

[01:40:26] I hate when platformers have a gimmick and they don't really let you do you let you use

[01:40:30] it.

[01:40:30] Right.

[01:40:30] I hate, I feel like it's a game issue plenty.

[01:40:32] So I, I was not wanting for that.

[01:40:34] Um, yeah, I, I, I genuinely find this game like almost impossible to criticize.

[01:40:39] I, I, like I said, outside of the little bit of icky frame rate when you're playing in

[01:40:44] 3d, that's it.

[01:40:47] Icky.

[01:40:47] Yeah.

[01:40:48] No, I, I, I gave this game a 10, um, in, in my, my list, it's a 10 out of 10.

[01:40:54] Um, just like forgotten land.

[01:40:58] I, I honestly can't pick which one of them might prefer the most cause they're both fucking

[01:41:02] amazing.

[01:41:03] They're, they're incredible Kirby games.

[01:41:05] Overall, these are examples to follow.

[01:41:09] We're doing a side scrolling platformer and you're not trying to imitate Mario.

[01:41:14] Yeah.

[01:41:15] And not trying to add in so much shit that has nothing to do with platforming.

[01:41:19] Cause like the shmup levels, like those still feel like the same formula as Kirby.

[01:41:27] Um, when he tried to do shit like, uh, like in the early days of the PS two with like tie

[01:41:32] the Tasmanian tiger and shit like that, where they add in like those dumb fucking turret

[01:41:35] levels or they try to add in like, like in conquer the dumb fucking, um, surfing lava

[01:41:41] surfing garbage.

[01:41:43] Don't do that.

[01:41:44] Don't do that.

[01:41:45] Uh, have you ever played shadows of the damned?

[01:41:48] I have.

[01:41:49] Yeah.

[01:41:50] I love it.

[01:41:50] No.

[01:41:50] So it's resident evil for until it's not.

[01:41:53] And when it's not, it becomes a shitty turret game and a shitty side scroller.

[01:41:58] Don't do that.

[01:42:00] They had, they had, they made some weird decisions.

[01:42:02] I still really liked that game, but yeah, there was some, there was some stuff.

[01:42:05] I love it when it's resident evil, but then the other stages are like, what, why you had

[01:42:10] gold?

[01:42:11] Why, why are you, what are you doing?

[01:42:13] It's strange.

[01:42:14] Yeah.

[01:42:14] They made, they made some, yeah, it's like, we don't really need to be doing this.

[01:42:18] It's just not that fun, you know?

[01:42:20] But yeah, I didn't, I didn't, it didn't distract me enough to be like, ah, this game's,

[01:42:24] I didn't think those parts were bad though, but it was just like, yeah, not, not optimal.

[01:42:30] Um, yeah, I just, fuck, I can't even.

[01:42:34] It's tough, dude.

[01:42:35] Yeah.

[01:42:35] It has the right difficulty.

[01:42:37] You know, it's like when I was going back to saying like, this is obviously made for

[01:42:39] an experienced person to play.

[01:42:41] Kirby games are never really that hard.

[01:42:43] And in fact, that's probably my fate, my favorite, my biggest criticism of Kirby 64

[01:42:48] is that it's so fucking easy.

[01:42:51] Like even by Kirby standards, it is piss easy.

[01:42:54] It is so like no resistance at all.

[01:42:57] Piss easy.

[01:42:58] Okay.

[01:42:59] Easier than pissing that Kirby 64.

[01:43:11] Well, that's, that's it for Kirby Planet Robobot.

[01:43:16] Now we, uh, now we're moving on to the, uh, the saddest part of the show, but also kind

[01:43:21] of the most generous.

[01:43:23] Uh, now it's time for random recommended games.

[01:43:29] Random recommended games.

[01:43:31] It's your favorite section of the show.

[01:43:34] Uh, I hope you guys picked a game to randomly recommend eight because I sure didn't.

[01:43:39] I forgot, but I can, uh, I got it in my room.

[01:43:43] Want me to go first then?

[01:43:44] Yeah.

[01:43:45] Go for it.

[01:43:45] I'm trying to find one real fast that I can actually talk about.

[01:43:48] Okay.

[01:43:49] Um, this, okay.

[01:43:52] You know what?

[01:43:52] I'm going to go something super recent.

[01:43:55] I'm going to say UFO 50.

[01:43:57] Okay.

[01:43:58] Everyone go out and buy UFO 50.

[01:44:01] This is what I said at the, I did a little, uh, solo episode plug plug on fine time earlier

[01:44:06] this month on UFO 50.

[01:44:07] I reviewed all 50 games and almost 50 minutes.

[01:44:10] It was 53 minutes.

[01:44:11] Okay.

[01:44:12] I almost did it.

[01:44:13] But the reason why I did it is because I believe that, I mean, for $25 getting these

[01:44:20] 50 games for 25 bucks, even if just like five of them were good, that would be incredible,

[01:44:26] right?

[01:44:26] Like 40 of them are fucking great.

[01:44:29] You know, like the hit rate on UFO 50 is insane.

[01:44:33] So if you want some bang for your buck and you have a steam deck, that's what I'm playing

[01:44:37] it on.

[01:44:37] Or I guess you can just play on your computer too, which is also fine, but definitely for

[01:44:41] steam deck play, I can't recommend anything better than UFO 50.

[01:44:44] Probably my favorite game of the year so far.

[01:44:46] It is insane how good those games are.

[01:44:50] I second that man.

[01:44:52] Jerry babbled on and on and on about it in our, I think in a recent episode, um, he

[01:44:58] just, he went fucking off about the game, uh, so much so that I ended up buying

[01:45:03] it myself and I've fell in love with quite a few of the games on there.

[01:45:06] Fucking avianos, the dino RTS.

[01:45:08] I'm so bad at that game.

[01:45:10] That's one of the two games.

[01:45:12] That's one of the two games on my episode.

[01:45:13] I declined to give a grade because I cannot play avianos.

[01:45:17] I'm too dumb for that.

[01:45:18] I cannot do that.

[01:45:19] Sorry.

[01:45:21] I still have to play divers also divers is so fucking good.

[01:45:24] Oh, what is there?

[01:45:25] Elphazar's hat.

[01:45:26] That's really good.

[01:45:27] Yeah.

[01:45:28] UFO 50 is good.

[01:45:29] Uh, my game that I picked by the way is shock troopers.

[01:45:32] Uh,

[01:45:33] probably my favorite.

[01:45:35] Well, I get no, I shouldn't say my favorite running gun by Neo Geo because metal slug fucking

[01:45:39] rocks.

[01:45:39] Metal slug fucks.

[01:45:41] All of them.

[01:45:42] Even the bad ones are fucking incredible.

[01:45:45] I've played this game like 8 million times.

[01:45:49] Uh, and there's all sorts of those, like, there's just a billion.

[01:45:51] Well, not a billion.

[01:45:52] There's different paths you can take to get to the end of the game, but you start here.

[01:45:56] They're starting like the jungle, go to the mountains, but uh, uh, different, different

[01:46:01] characters that you can play as.

[01:46:03] Big mama.

[01:46:04] Yeah.

[01:46:04] Big mama's in the first one, right?

[01:46:07] Damn right.

[01:46:07] She is big mama.

[01:46:08] That's where the big mama emoji in the server came from.

[01:46:11] Yep.

[01:46:12] Mm-hmm.

[01:46:13] And the, the gameplay is just so fucking good, man.

[01:46:15] Like I just, there's something about a shooter that when you, when you start shooting, you

[01:46:21] lock into place and then you can just like strafe in like the direction that you're facing

[01:46:25] and shoot like that.

[01:46:28] Um, um, the zero gunner games, those do that really, really fucking well.

[01:46:32] Uh, and then there's Alphazar's hat.

[01:46:35] Does that?

[01:46:37] Alphazar's hat.

[01:46:38] There's that other one in UFO 50.

[01:46:40] Over bold.

[01:46:41] Over bold.

[01:46:42] That's what it is.

[01:46:43] Yeah.

[01:46:43] Um, but yes, if you like, if you love arcade games, if you love Neo Geo, go play shock troopers.

[01:46:50] I really love it.

[01:46:52] Please.

[01:46:53] It's on arcade archive.

[01:46:54] So you could be able to get it on anything for cheap.

[01:46:56] It is.

[01:46:57] Okay.

[01:46:58] All right.

[01:46:59] Okay.

[01:47:00] This is a game that I absolutely fucking adore and I don't hear anybody talking about

[01:47:05] it.

[01:47:06] Do you guys like being teenagers with attitude?

[01:47:11] Sure.

[01:47:11] I was once that.

[01:47:12] I still am.

[01:47:13] Do you guys like transforming?

[01:47:16] Uh, yeah.

[01:47:18] Do you guys like dinosaur powers?

[01:47:21] Yes.

[01:47:22] I mean, what do you, is that even a question?

[01:47:24] Hell yeah.

[01:47:25] So mighty morphins for the super Nintendo mighty morphin power Rangers for the super Nintendo.

[01:47:30] Like it's so, such a good side scrolling beat them up.

[01:47:34] You start as the regular person, right?

[01:47:37] So you're like Billy in his overalls or, or sack, which I hate sex character model.

[01:47:43] It's so racist and problematic.

[01:47:45] It's crazy.

[01:47:48] Like you're, you're fighting putty troopers, like beating the shit out of them.

[01:47:52] Out of nowhere, you see a boss, you transform the music goes fucking crazy.

[01:47:56] You get a 16 bit rendition of, of the power Rangers theme song, and then you get a weapon

[01:48:02] and you start fighting even more enemies.

[01:48:04] It's it's so fucking good.

[01:48:07] It's a pretty good game.

[01:48:08] Yeah.

[01:48:08] My friend had it.

[01:48:09] I played it at his house quite a bit.

[01:48:11] Yeah.

[01:48:11] And I, I've, I've never been in the power Rangers.

[01:48:13] I've never watched it.

[01:48:14] I don't, I've never cared about it that much, but like, yeah, that game though, definitely

[01:48:18] for sure.

[01:48:19] And it's, it's short.

[01:48:20] I think it's only like seven or eight stages.

[01:48:22] Like you get five as regular people Rangers and then three as the mega sword.

[01:48:29] Yeah.

[01:48:29] It, it's a really cool game.

[01:48:31] It's so, so good.

[01:48:32] And the music throughout the entire game is fantastic.

[01:48:35] It's such a good fucking game.

[01:48:37] And I'm ashamed of our podcasting circle because nobody talks about it.

[01:48:44] I kind of forgot about it, to be honest.

[01:48:46] I have to, until you mentioned it, but it's like, yeah, my friend had that.

[01:48:49] That's pretty fucking good game.

[01:48:51] I'm surprised Jerry hasn't talked about that because we did that episode about licensed

[01:48:56] games and I feel like he might've talked about it on there.

[01:49:01] Maybe unless I'm thinking of something else.

[01:49:02] I know we've, we talked about, I'm pretty sure we did.

[01:49:06] I don't know.

[01:49:07] Maybe.

[01:49:08] Yeah.

[01:49:08] Power Rangers for the Super Nintendo.

[01:49:10] It's really good.

[01:49:11] You can run it on your Super Nintendo mini or your steam deck or your rock ally or your

[01:49:16] phone, your phone.

[01:49:17] Uh, the, the little console that Aaron uses anything.

[01:49:20] It runs on anything.

[01:49:22] Yeah.

[01:49:22] Yeah.

[01:49:24] Your Tesla.

[01:49:25] I'm pretty sure you run on a Tesla.

[01:49:27] Soft mod your Tesla.

[01:49:28] It's a better.

[01:49:29] It would lock up a cyber truck like that.

[01:49:33] Cyber truck runs on fucking MS.

[01:49:37] Cyber trucks are running on windows 3.1 or some shit.

[01:49:40] Oh man.

[01:49:42] But yeah, no, that is a, that is a good game.

[01:49:44] It is a good beat them up.

[01:49:45] I am a beat them up connoisseur.

[01:49:46] And I did like that power Rangers game.

[01:49:49] Connoisseur.

[01:49:50] Connoisseur.

[01:49:51] So good.

[01:49:52] And there's like a speed running community for it.

[01:49:54] So people have figured out which Ranger is the best to get through which stage the fastest and seeing speed runs of it is just crazy.

[01:50:03] It's so good.

[01:50:04] Sounds nuts.

[01:50:06] So good.

[01:50:07] Speed runs are awesome, man.

[01:50:25] And then it's, it's crazy shit.
