Ep. 112 - Plungin’ & Ballin’ to The Best Pinball Video Games (ft. Willie)
Download MP3[00:00:00] Most people say they have like 200 hours, 300 hours into it. How many are you at at the last boss?
[00:00:30] On top of that, like Shadow of the Eurtrees way bigger than I expected. Like the content there is absolutely amazing for a DLC.
[00:00:38] Like it feels like it basically feels like a Souls game. Like one of the early Souls games that wasn't open world length.
[00:00:45] Yeah, so it's good. I like getting fucked by Eldon Ring.
[00:00:50] What do Superstars, my name is Aaron. Alex Trebek, eight my ass at Denys and I'm Jerry and I wasn't prepared for that.
[00:01:00] Do you listen to SuperPod Saga?
[00:01:12] Yes indeed, it is SuperPod Saga. The one and only the podcasts where Jerry and I discussed a different video game topic each week with different guests.
[00:01:22] And before we get to that, Jerry, we're gonna people find more of us if they need to.
[00:01:28] Aaron, you already know it. You already know it.
[00:01:32] You're gonna have to go see the fucking sticks. Straight to H double hockey sticks, but we like cheap double monster rail sticks.
[00:01:42] H double dinosaur chicken nuggets or something.
[00:01:45] You can find that ass on the Denys menu.
[00:01:48] Now they can go to the SuperPod Network where all kinds of fan tabulous friends are I was going to say lurking.
[00:01:55] I don't know if they're lurking. Nobody's just lurking around the SuperPod Network, just waging like a bunch of hungry rabbit animals, but we kind of are in a way.
[00:02:05] We would love for you to check out all the amazing shows on that website. So head over there and check things out and get all this stuff on your favorite podcast platforms.
[00:02:16] Yes, please.
[00:02:17] Every show's socials are on there. Find time remember 64 all of our shit.
[00:02:23] Yeah, thank you.
[00:02:26] All the socials, the blog too.
[00:02:28] So on there, co-co-fi, whatever hamburger help me. I don't know.
[00:02:33] Coffee coffee fee?
[00:02:36] Is it coffee?
[00:02:38] I don't know. Whatever the fuck Trump tweeted out that time at like two o'clock in the morning.
[00:02:42] It was like 3 a.m.
[00:02:44] We should have a coffee fair whenever the fuck it was Donald Trump Donald Trump Donald Trump.
[00:02:51] These two peers said by bathroom, and he's just like, oh no.
[00:02:54] They'll goodbye, Tidey, sweaty hands.
[00:02:57] We'll build a wall.
[00:03:00] Anyway, anyway, yes, this podcast, holy shit. We have a guest.
[00:03:07] We have Willie from Grand Rapidians Play video games.
[00:03:10] Hello, Willie. Hello. My name is William Williams.
[00:03:13] I'm the third. I am the cooking mama world champion and a former twin galaxy's referee.
[00:03:19] Are you host?
[00:03:21] Yeah.
[00:03:22] Really?
[00:03:22] Yeah, really? Have you met Billy Mitchell?
[00:03:25] Oh no. I met Todd Rogers.
[00:03:27] Billy Mitchell has made custom hot sauce for me. I got some custom hot sauce bottles from him.
[00:03:32] Nice.
[00:03:34] But no, he didn't even make it to the grand opening of the Iowa video game museum when we open that.
[00:03:39] He could have just cheated his way in there as well.
[00:03:43] Who was that in Oscar Loosa or what is it?
[00:03:48] What is the video game capital I should know this.
[00:03:50] I fucking live here.
[00:03:52] A tumbo.
[00:03:52] I don't remember.
[00:03:53] I tell him why. There we go.
[00:03:55] Yeah, that whole thing is ridiculous with him.
[00:03:58] Zoing twin galaxy is now and yeah, that's a.
[00:04:01] I left after Walter D. sold it to somebody else and now it's in a new owner's hand.
[00:04:07] I feel bad for all the volunteers trying to keep track of that.
[00:04:13] But now they gave him his title back or something like they reevaluated it.
[00:04:19] Yeah, she they gave him a scoreback can give it a historical like designation.
[00:04:24] But I mean, I don't know, it doesn't make sense that they can he can sue to force them to include the fake score.
[00:04:32] Well, I mean, let's be real.
[00:04:33] You can't you can't have that hair and not be that guy.
[00:04:37] You know what I mean?
[00:04:37] Right.
[00:04:40] I don't even like whenever I look at Billy Mitchell, I always think like he looks like pitch.
[00:04:45] Or that Adam's standard movie pixels where I had Peter Dinklage basically parody in the movie.
[00:04:52] I always think of Peter Dinklage representing the four.
[00:04:55] Yeah, and he is like the villain from early Adam's standard movie.
[00:05:01] Fuck it's shooter again.
[00:05:04] You we should for breakfast.
[00:05:07] Hey, we, even though we got to we got our guests here with the word video games in their title.
[00:05:15] We're not really talking about video games today in a sense.
[00:05:18] Are we?
[00:05:19] I mean, kind of we're talking about.
[00:05:22] I mean, we're going to talk about video games.
[00:05:25] Yeah, to some capacity.
[00:05:26] But funny enough that you, you know, worked at a place of arcade fame.
[00:05:32] The place that you would find pinball machines.
[00:05:35] Is that an arcade?
[00:05:38] Mm hmm.
[00:05:39] That's right because we're talking about pinball video games.
[00:05:42] All of our favorites or the best or whatever, but yeah, pour me to that.
[00:05:46] Introduce yourself and on your show.
[00:05:49] Talk about your co-hosts or co-hosts if you need to.
[00:05:52] And also feel free to talk about your favorites.
[00:05:57] Whatever, whatever we don't get jury.
[00:05:59] Um, favorites favorite donut filling.
[00:06:04] All right.
[00:06:04] Well, my podcast of Grand Rapids play video games.
[00:06:07] We're on the hiatus right now, but you can still find us everywhere.
[00:06:11] We just did a special to promote space out of these comic book.
[00:06:16] Kickstarter that might be done by the time you're done with this by the time this comes out.
[00:06:21] But you can still buy digital editions of the first three issues of space out of these comic book.
[00:06:28] Created by my dungeon master and another friend.
[00:06:31] Hell yeah, completely independent and to man created comic book.
[00:06:35] It's awesome.
[00:06:36] Sounds awesome.
[00:06:37] Yeah, I'm looking at it on your Twitter and it looks.
[00:06:40] I got to find it again because I scroll down to look at that sort of organic beer.
[00:06:44] I assume it's a beer and that looked kind of a saw raspberries or strawberries.
[00:06:48] Another good but.
[00:06:50] Samalsmith.
[00:06:51] Yeah.
[00:06:52] Hell yeah, but donuts.
[00:06:54] Yeah, I was going to get to the feeling.
[00:06:56] Yeah, specifically.
[00:06:58] Get to the donuts.
[00:06:59] One of my two favorite donuts is custard filled long jams.
[00:07:04] The cream ones can get the fuck right out of here.
[00:07:07] They'll suck.
[00:07:09] But custard filled long jams are great.
[00:07:12] Fuck yeah.
[00:07:13] Custard is good and raspberry filled glaze donut is.
[00:07:17] Yeah, that's like a good one.
[00:07:20] Yep.
[00:07:21] I'm a sucker for just like a regular glaze donut man.
[00:07:25] Something about them.
[00:07:27] I love filling in that.
[00:07:29] Yeah, I know.
[00:07:30] But I mean if I'm going with filling though.
[00:07:34] I got to go with the powdered donut with the raspberry inside.
[00:07:37] Yeah, but that strawberry strawberry inside.
[00:07:39] A big jelly filled sucker man so good.
[00:07:42] Stuff me with jelly when I die.
[00:07:44] Please and consume me.
[00:07:46] I'm going to die for you.
[00:07:48] Yeah, but that on my donuts.
[00:07:50] Other way around it.
[00:08:15] Anyway, so pinball video games right?
[00:08:17] Yeah, we're talking about pinball video games.
[00:08:20] So I brought, I bought a list of about my top 11 and I've ordered them throughout the year.
[00:08:27] Yeah.
[00:08:28] By generation.
[00:08:30] I do really love some pinball games.
[00:08:32] Hell yeah.
[00:08:34] I've got maybe a one or two kind of obvious ones.
[00:08:38] And like, like a two more hopefully like hidden gems.
[00:08:42] Hopefully one's all three guys for a loop but really you're our guests.
[00:08:47] So fucking swing it man.
[00:08:49] You can go first.
[00:08:50] All right.
[00:08:51] The the first one that I really played was at a windows PC at my cousin's house.
[00:08:58] Okay.
[00:08:58] Space kidette pinball.
[00:09:00] Yep.
[00:09:00] That's like the pack.
[00:09:01] It's the pack.
[00:09:03] It's not all that great, but you know back in 1988.
[00:09:06] It was it was awesome.
[00:09:08] It was like as close to pinball as you can get.
[00:09:12] It was out since 1988.
[00:09:15] I don't know.
[00:09:15] I'm just guessing.
[00:09:17] It's probably close to that.
[00:09:18] I remember 1995 windows.
[00:09:21] Yeah, like when was 98 or whatever when we got that I've ever just been like,
[00:09:24] there's fucking pinball on this thing because I used to like,
[00:09:29] dark computers.
[00:09:31] Dude, my dad used to manage this truck stop outside of this.
[00:09:35] So there's a town called Spencer here in Iowa.
[00:09:39] My dad used to manage a truck stop there and on his little office computer,
[00:09:43] my brother and I would play doom.
[00:09:45] Space kidette pinball.
[00:09:48] Skee free.
[00:09:49] And there's one other one that I can't remember but we used to play the fuck.
[00:09:52] No mine sweepers or the other one was used to play the hell out of those.
[00:09:56] Honestly, you didn't have a fucking play mine sweeper.
[00:09:59] You just guess really.
[00:10:01] This is like this one.
[00:10:02] This one.
[00:10:03] I'm dead restart.
[00:10:04] This my favorite roguelike.
[00:10:06] I guess I don't know.
[00:10:08] Yeah, it's not a roguelike.
[00:10:10] I'm just good at it.
[00:10:11] But first pinball game that I really owned and loved.
[00:10:14] I mean there was an Atari pinball game that I had for 2800.
[00:10:18] That wasn't very good.
[00:10:19] I didn't really like it.
[00:10:22] I never had any yes.
[00:10:24] So any S pinball.
[00:10:25] I never got good at it.
[00:10:26] Didn't like that one either.
[00:10:27] But I had a game boy and Kirby's pinball and for Game Boy.
[00:10:32] Hell yeah.
[00:10:32] That was good.
[00:10:33] It was really good.
[00:10:35] I added video game elements to the pinball and did stuff that you couldn't do in real pinball.
[00:10:40] And that's where the video game pinball really shines.
[00:10:44] I'm surprised.
[00:10:45] I'm really surprised they haven't tried to make another one of these,
[00:10:48] especially on say like Game Boy Advance or like a new or game boy color version or something.
[00:10:55] But they have but they switched the branding every time for a Game Boy Advance.
[00:10:59] It was super Mario pinball and which was very similar to the one I've been doing.
[00:11:03] I was nowhere to Kirby's pinball with enemies that come out that you have to hit.
[00:11:08] It was more detailed and then for Nintendo DS there was Metroid Prime pinball.
[00:11:12] Oh yeah.
[00:11:14] Was that good?
[00:11:15] That was good.
[00:11:17] That was one on my list.
[00:11:19] Yeah, it had the two screens were used as one pinball.
[00:11:25] And it also had three different worlds that you could go to,
[00:11:27] much like Kirby and Super Mario pinball.
[00:11:30] My first one which I actually misspelled in my my list over here.
[00:11:37] I put down Devil's Crush, man.
[00:11:39] Which kind of it's had that on my list too.
[00:11:44] Well, we'll include like the whole, we'll include all three so we'll go Devil's Crush,
[00:11:48] Aliens Crush and then Jockey's Crush or Jockey's Crush.
[00:11:53] Jockey Crush.
[00:11:54] Jockey Burkhard's Crush.
[00:11:57] All three of them because those are really really fun, man.
[00:11:59] I like, like, it devils Crush feels better to play.
[00:12:04] It's a lot smoother and it isn't like as choppy as Aliens Crush can be.
[00:12:10] But Aliens Crush has that cool like bio organic like so you know more kind of feel and look.
[00:12:16] Yeah, it totally looks like it was made by like HR guy or the different bosses in Alien Crush feel more varied.
[00:12:25] And a little bit easier to get to.
[00:12:28] So out of those two I think I prefer Alien Crush.
[00:12:32] I've never played the third one, Jockey's Crush.
[00:12:35] Yeah, it was only Jackie.
[00:12:37] Jackie Crush is the same as what was the other one?
[00:12:40] It's Alien Crush and then what was the other one?
[00:12:42] Devil's Crush.
[00:12:43] Devil's Crush.
[00:12:44] I think isn't Jackie Crush the city or Yaki whatever it's pronounced.
[00:12:49] Isn't that the same thing as Devil's Crush?
[00:12:51] No, it's like Japanese mythology kind of thing.
[00:12:55] It was only on only in Japan on the super famicom.
[00:13:00] Oh yeah, it's a kind of looks like kind of the same as Devil's Crush.
[00:13:07] Yeah, and Aliens Crush.
[00:13:08] I mean they all kind of have similar aesthetic but yeah, they're there are awesome games so much fun to play.
[00:13:13] Even if you don't like pinball like they're a pretty cool take on pinball.
[00:13:17] Yeah, because they have kind of almost like a not necessarily like shmuck like Ashmuck mechanics,
[00:13:22] but they've got enemies that you can blast with the flippers every so often.
[00:13:26] And they've got fun little bonus areas where you're it'll be like three dragons popping up at the top of the screen.
[00:13:32] You have to time your flippers just right and all that stuff.
[00:13:37] Yeah, they're pretty sweet.
[00:13:39] So I'm going to throw you throw you guys through a loop here.
[00:13:44] Yes.
[00:13:44] Is that a loop?
[00:13:45] So envision a loop.
[00:13:48] Okay.
[00:13:48] And now you're going to go through it.
[00:13:50] Okay.
[00:13:53] So this game is the only way I could describe this is it's a Metroidvania pinball game.
[00:14:01] What?
[00:14:02] What?
[00:14:03] Yes, have you ever heard of?
[00:14:05] Oh, I know where this is.
[00:14:06] Is it the male, the male snail?
[00:14:09] Yoku's island express.
[00:14:11] This was on my list.
[00:14:12] That game is so good.
[00:14:13] So fucking good.
[00:14:15] You know, like it's a good Metroidvania but it's like it's just such a joy to play that game.
[00:14:21] It looks really fucking good.
[00:14:23] I know.
[00:14:24] I'm going through.
[00:14:25] You get into like an area and you're like not really seeing the pinball aspect and all of a
[00:14:29] sentence, like oh, there it is.
[00:14:31] And then like kind of turns into a pit.
[00:14:33] Like the area will be like kind of as you kind of start to zoom out a bit and you start to see like,
[00:14:39] Oh, yeah, this is like a pinball arena kind of thing pinball arena.
[00:14:44] I guess it's like the like it's it's strange.
[00:14:48] But in it all the best kind of ways again.
[00:14:50] Like this is why Indies are the best thing.
[00:14:53] It's like they saw it's like they saw a sign expinball and said what if we make this like a good game.
[00:15:04] Sorry, for this sign expinball.
[00:15:06] That's a play classic.
[00:15:07] That's a play classic.
[00:15:09] Take that, say, go up yours.
[00:15:13] But yeah, Yoku's island express.
[00:15:15] If anybody has never heard of this or checked it out before, highly highly recommend this game.
[00:15:22] It's it's so much fun to play and I'm pretty sure it's on like everything and it's on sale a lot.
[00:15:29] A lot of the time like I got on switch for three dollars and 50 bucks in cents.
[00:15:33] So I'm sure on steam you could get it for like three.
[00:15:37] I mean, it's it's only 22 dollars Canadian full price on steam.
[00:15:44] I played through it on switch and then expacts.
[00:15:48] So yeah, hell yeah.
[00:15:51] It's such a good game.
[00:15:53] I wish they would add bore to the game though because like the base game was.
[00:15:58] Base game like the main game was super fucking short.
[00:16:02] I think it was only like two hours maybe three hours.
[00:16:06] It wasn't long though, but honestly like I don't know how much I more I need of it.
[00:16:11] I was like, it didn't feel like it overstayed at all because it was fairly short, but when I was done with it, I was like cool.
[00:16:18] I'm glad that this was what it was and it like it didn't really have any low points.
[00:16:22] It was just all yeah like all high points.
[00:16:26] I think I'm about ready for a sequel.
[00:16:29] Yeah, I would like to see a sequel to see what they would come up with there put an inverted castle in that bitch inverted pinball table.
[00:16:40] Like that could kind of be cool.
[00:16:44] How the fuck were the flippers more because they would have one of those inside I think it was the Twilight Zone, the physical machine where we'd go underneath and it was tilted the other way.
[00:16:58] So the flippers would be at the top and they would head it back towards you unlike the sub basement in the physical pinball machine.
[00:17:05] That's awesome.
[00:17:07] Oh man, could you imagine if there was like a racing element?
[00:17:12] It would race some balls.
[00:17:14] Yeah, like you're in almost like a first person view in like the football area.
[00:17:21] Care versus.
[00:17:25] You can't see shit, but you're gonna have fun.
[00:17:29] What about PS1 pinball games?
[00:17:32] You guys playing with you, those. I have one favorite.
[00:17:36] But I mean, I have one that's weird as hell.
[00:17:40] So I'd love to hear like some normal ones.
[00:17:45] I tried kiss pinball and that one was not good.
[00:17:49] I almost too jumpy. It actually controlled a lot like Alien Crush.
[00:17:53] But there was one called Pro Pinball, Big Race USA.
[00:17:58] Big Race USA.
[00:17:59] Yeah, you were like a taxi cab driver and you had to complete all the objectives.
[00:18:05] We're like a race across the map of the US.
[00:18:08] And it was like a really good recreation of a physical pinball table.
[00:18:12] Everything was static. It had nudges.
[00:18:14] It was really realistic.
[00:18:16] And there was a 10 ball multi ball if you made it.
[00:18:19] There enough.
[00:18:21] Damn.
[00:18:21] Yes.
[00:18:22] Awesome.
[00:18:23] Yeah, I'm looking at screenshots of it. It does look really fucking good actually.
[00:18:26] That cover art is sure as something else.
[00:18:30] It's got like this cartoony taxi on it, but yeah, that looks really good.
[00:18:34] Those are my favorite kinds of taxes.
[00:18:36] Never heard of that before.
[00:18:38] Crazy ones.
[00:18:39] Cartoony.
[00:18:42] Like an algebra.
[00:18:44] Yeah.
[00:18:45] Paul, believe her.
[00:18:47] And yes, what was your next pick?
[00:18:50] My guy.
[00:18:52] Holy shit.
[00:18:53] Have either of you ever played revenge of the gator?
[00:18:56] I don't even know what that is.
[00:18:59] Never heard of it.
[00:19:00] So was that NES game boy.
[00:19:03] Oh, Game Boy.
[00:19:04] Okay.
[00:19:05] Very close.
[00:19:05] Yeah, I've read a revenge of the gator.
[00:19:07] It was surprisingly released on the 3DS virtual console back when that was still up.
[00:19:14] Rest in peace.
[00:19:15] Miss you so much.
[00:19:17] There's not a whole lot special to it.
[00:19:19] It's just like crocodile-eemed.
[00:19:23] And there's maybe like four extras, screens to or four extra tables I mean to it.
[00:19:30] So there's not as much to it as say like devil's crush or the the the the big rigs racing one on PS1.
[00:19:37] There's a big rigs racing though.
[00:19:40] I was just goofing the the day of the one really said.
[00:19:43] I was like, why are we not talking about this right now?
[00:19:47] Yeah, it's super charming man.
[00:19:49] For a Game Boy pinball game, it's actually pretty smooth.
[00:19:53] It's not like as choppy as you would think for a Game Boy game.
[00:19:56] A little crocodiles are so fucking cute dude.
[00:19:59] That sits.
[00:19:59] It's really cool.
[00:20:01] Isn't it wild how like back in the day?
[00:20:04] There was like, you know, like the standard pinball machines for like franchises.
[00:20:09] Like you had like Adam's family, Terminator,
[00:20:12] Fucking Aerosmith for some reason.
[00:20:14] Like actual physical pinball machines or like doing it.
[00:20:17] But like sometimes it would just be like the weirdos shit ever.
[00:20:21] Like they weren't afraid to make pinball in anything.
[00:20:24] It'd be like, here's a fucking pizza parlor pinball.
[00:20:29] Like it's just like peep-a-suppot pinball.
[00:20:33] Okay, I'll try to get some really stupid cone heads.
[00:20:37] There's the squirrel themed one called going nuts.
[00:20:41] They only made 10 prototypes and they're like, no, this isn't gonna sell.
[00:20:45] Going nuts.
[00:20:48] I hope that the pinball is themselves or like A-corns.
[00:20:51] I was kind of fucking say that damn it.
[00:20:53] God that would suck so much.
[00:20:56] They wouldn't either like barely roll and be like,
[00:20:58] Boop, you just follow over.
[00:21:00] I feel like they missed an opportunity to just have like a pinball for every like,
[00:21:06] a selection year.
[00:21:08] I just like have it themed.
[00:21:11] Like with the two like people versus each other,
[00:21:13] like as like these stupid looking heads inside of the pinball machine.
[00:21:18] I want to pinball machine where like you can have up to 10 balls.
[00:21:24] But they're all different weird shapes.
[00:21:27] Like it's kind of like everybody's gone for the fuck.
[00:21:31] It's called where like if a cube,
[00:21:34] like a cylinder, give me a fucking cone for fucks sake.
[00:21:39] So puck party golf is another good one like that.
[00:21:43] Yeah.
[00:21:44] That's not pinball.
[00:21:45] That's true.
[00:21:46] Yeah, that's not pinball.
[00:21:48] So Jerry what has pinball?
[00:21:50] Not this game because it's barely pinball but it's kind of like pinball.
[00:21:55] Have either of you ever heard of screaming mad George's paranoia escape on
[00:22:03] the way you think I have.
[00:22:05] Aaron, you definitely have because we talked about our weird PS1 games episode of
[00:22:09] Retro rehab.
[00:22:11] But for those of you that have not heard that episode or don't really please look at
[00:22:15] a please Google.
[00:22:17] My god.
[00:22:18] There's mouths all over the floor.
[00:22:19] Sorry, goods.
[00:22:22] That's just I mean, that's just a weekend for me.
[00:22:23] I wake up on Saturday and I was walking everywhere.
[00:22:26] Um, this game is like a first person horror pinball game.
[00:22:33] Where like you are walking along and it's also kind of a rail shooter kind of like you're
[00:22:40] walking along like a thing and then you're also shooting this ball that comes back to you
[00:22:47] each time in a pinball fashion as you're trying to complete the level of key all the enemies.
[00:22:52] It is weird.
[00:22:54] But it's actually going to fun and it kind of has that pinball feel to it.
[00:23:00] But it's it's not pinball but I mean, nice.
[00:23:05] I don't have a my the depth of knowledge that I have in pinball in general, not deep.
[00:23:12] So I this is a man trying his best.
[00:23:16] That reminded I forgot to put my favorite PS2 pinball game on my list.
[00:23:21] Which is flip Nick.
[00:23:24] Flip Nick.
[00:23:25] And it's a guy named Nick that you.
[00:23:28] That's it's like pinball but instead of like a normal pinball table, like it will spread out to the left and out to the right and out.
[00:23:37] That's the stages are big and crazy and you can transfer to different parts of the stages.
[00:23:44] It looks really cool and it is just pinball just hitting a ball back and forth.
[00:23:49] But it's a little take on expanding the stage into a virtual space.
[00:23:54] I followed the Japanese or the Japanese cover art for that game and it just says flip Nick is an enjoyable simple action, amazing pinball game for you.
[00:24:05] And there's like little toy dinosaurs.
[00:24:07] It's the background.
[00:24:09] Yeah, I'm going to put a link in the chat.
[00:24:12] That's so so dope.
[00:24:14] You were talking about an unusual combat first person shooter.
[00:24:20] What about a award general simulation that's also pinball game.
[00:24:27] Fuck yeah, tell me more.
[00:24:30] That never heard of O'Dama on GameCube.
[00:24:33] Oh yeah, I've never been able to play that though because the only way you can play was with the fucking mic.
[00:24:39] Yeah, you need the microphone which really onto the GameCube controller.
[00:24:43] And as you're playing, you yell into the microphone like March left.
[00:24:49] March right. What the press forward?
[00:24:52] And like you would be sitting there hitting that ball back and forth and just press forward.
[00:24:56] Press forward. Press forward.
[00:24:59] So many times that it got really hard.
[00:25:02] I did beat it back in the day. I tried to revisit it and I didn't make it nearly as far.
[00:25:06] But yeah, I just had rudimentary voice controls for teeny tiny little people that if you hit them with your ball, it would crush your people and kill your troops.
[00:25:16] Yes, but you could also play this.
[00:25:19] You could also crush and kill the enemy troops.
[00:25:23] And each level is like a different stage that's a pinball machine.
[00:25:26] Like the Japanese countryside with streams and walls and crushable boulders.
[00:25:32] It was really good, really unusual. There's never been anything else like it.
[00:25:37] Is there any way to play without the mic?
[00:25:39] Like could you or do you have to be able to control the peeps?
[00:25:44] I've only played it with the GameCube mic.
[00:25:48] I think I got two of them.
[00:25:49] You need one.
[00:25:52] I would love one.
[00:25:54] I would always wanted to play this game.
[00:25:58] But even it's like, it's one of those weird things where you can't emulate it.
[00:26:03] There's no way to emulate this game because you have to have hardware.
[00:26:07] You have to have the hardware.
[00:26:09] So, same thing with, I mean, off topic.
[00:26:12] What's Seaman on Dreamcast?
[00:26:15] There's not really any way to emulate that either.
[00:26:17] Unless maybe you couldn't use a mic.
[00:26:19] I don't know.
[00:26:20] There've been a couple mods where I forget if it was only in retro arc or not,
[00:26:26] where you could use any mic and it would make it work like it was a Dreamcast mic.
[00:26:32] I don't remember looking to stuff like months ago,
[00:26:36] Eons ago even, but the end years.
[00:26:40] Yeah, two bajillion years ago.
[00:26:42] I remember seeing O'Dama and GameStop's all the time as a kid.
[00:26:47] And I would be like, this game looks stupid.
[00:26:51] I only want Tails games and other stupid shit.
[00:26:56] Well, Tails games aren't stupid but...
[00:26:58] I don't know.
[00:27:00] I definitely passed a botama as a kid and I'm kicking myself for not picking it up because it sounds really, really fucking cool, man.
[00:27:09] When I saw a game with the microphone for the same price as a game, I was like, oh hell yeah.
[00:27:15] I'm getting a necessary end of the game.
[00:27:18] Oh yeah, did that one Mario Party also come with the mic as well?
[00:27:21] It's really Mario Party fucking...
[00:27:23] Yes, I just remember...
[00:27:26] A long time ago watching the guys on giant bomb play that game and it was so much fun to watch them just like yelling into this microphone.
[00:27:36] I just remember vividly Jeff Kursman just going,
[00:27:39] bigger, bigger, bigger and like this huge like it bully who's getting bigger.
[00:27:47] It's good.
[00:27:49] Press forward.
[00:27:51] Press forward.
[00:27:52] Holy shit, I wonder how much a copy of O'Dama is right now.
[00:27:57] Google it in a buckle up buckle up buckle up buckle your seat belts, channel race.
[00:28:01] It's a GameCube game.
[00:28:04] That doesn't look well.
[00:28:07] That's a Walmart that doesn't count.
[00:28:10] It's only actually about like 30 bucks, that's not bad.
[00:28:13] Without microphone.
[00:28:15] Let's true, yeah, without the microphone.
[00:28:17] Yeah, it's about like, yeah, 30, 20 bucks or 20, 30 bucks.
[00:28:21] What about with the microphone?
[00:28:23] That's what I found with the microphone on price charting.
[00:28:28] And it is about 36 bucks.
[00:28:31] That's not terrible.
[00:28:33] Okay, wait.
[00:28:35] Sealed game and microphone on eBay 60 bucks.
[00:28:39] Free shit.
[00:28:41] Yeah, free shipping too.
[00:28:42] Aaron, now's your chance.
[00:28:44] You can relive all the childhood trauma over again.
[00:28:49] You can finally finally have this in your in your grasp.
[00:28:52] So be screaming into the microphone.
[00:28:54] Fuck you, pastor.
[00:28:57] Fuck you, Dale.
[00:28:59] Fuck you, Dale.
[00:28:59] Fuck you.
[00:28:59] To press for it.
[00:29:01] Say press for it.
[00:29:02] He's like, I fucking hate my childhood life.
[00:29:06] I sold all of my games that are now expensive.
[00:29:10] But I had a fucking copy of a SkySov Arcadia Legends on GameCube.
[00:29:15] Got about halfway through and sold it because I was a dumb fucking kid.
[00:29:19] And now I will never own it again.
[00:29:22] Unless I win a lot of Rido.
[00:29:23] So please, big lot of I had maybe 1, 2 and 3 on Super Nintendo.
[00:29:28] So fuck me.
[00:29:31] Who turn it is?
[00:29:34] Who turn it is?
[00:29:36] I believe that would be you.
[00:29:38] Okay.
[00:29:39] Have I either reduced played pinball quest on NES?
[00:29:44] No.
[00:29:46] It's a pinball RPG pretty much.
[00:29:50] It's, alright, you have my attention.
[00:29:53] Kind of like punk quest.
[00:29:54] There's a punk quest?
[00:29:57] Pretty much.
[00:29:59] As you kill enemies and you collect money, I haven't played it for a while.
[00:30:05] But basically you can upgrade your flippers.
[00:30:07] You can upgrade all sorts of shit on the field.
[00:30:11] And there's different levels to like there's, I think the first one is just like a gate leading to wherever.
[00:30:17] And then there's like a heartbeat era.
[00:30:20] Fuck, remember what's all in it?
[00:30:22] But it's really cool.
[00:30:24] Like for any SKM.
[00:30:26] Yeah.
[00:30:26] For any S pinball game, I should say it plays really well.
[00:30:31] It's not choppy.
[00:30:33] I'm probably going to say this like throughout the entire fucking episode.
[00:30:36] Oh, it's not choppy.
[00:30:37] It plays well.
[00:30:37] But yeah, it's actually pretty cool and pretty fun.
[00:30:41] Yeah, pinball quest.
[00:30:43] Which you're looking up Jerry?
[00:30:45] I was trying to look up the name of this,
[00:30:50] and I can't remember what the hell it's called.
[00:30:54] Because again, my knowledge of pinball very little.
[00:30:59] Like a very, very little.
[00:31:00] It's, I feel like it was on Sega Genesis, but it's not Sonic Spinball.
[00:31:06] Sonic Spinball.
[00:31:07] Damn it.
[00:31:08] You know what it is.
[00:31:09] Let's see.
[00:31:10] Sega Genesis.
[00:31:13] Pinball games.
[00:31:14] Here we go.
[00:31:16] Fuck every Sega Genesis pinball game ranked.
[00:31:19] Sonic Spinball.
[00:31:20] Oh, it's a video.
[00:31:21] Fuck you, dude.
[00:31:24] Hmm.
[00:31:26] Oh, there was that port of, um, there was that port of demons, uh, demons, devil's
[00:31:32] crush, but they called it dragons revenge.
[00:31:35] Who's that?
[00:31:36] What?
[00:31:37] I don't know.
[00:31:39] Let me look this.
[00:31:39] Dragon.
[00:31:40] In this revenge.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:41] The meantime, I mean, Willie, you could, uh, you could indulge us with some more pinball
[00:31:46] knowledge.
[00:31:47] I have one more old school pinball game that I really enjoyed.
[00:31:51] It was another Game Boy Advance joint called Pinball of the Dead.
[00:31:57] Let's all be cool.
[00:31:58] It was based on House of the Dead and you'll make your pinball in the zombies.
[00:32:04] It was standard pinball tables with pop ups and zombies.
[00:32:09] And it sounds awesome.
[00:32:10] Cheesy voice cutscenes, you know, just like the game suffered like G did.
[00:32:17] Bosses, you had to fight when you made it to the end of each stage.
[00:32:21] Holy shit.
[00:32:22] This was a really good Game Boy Advance pinball game.
[00:32:26] This sound, this looks really, really cool.
[00:32:28] I'm looking, again, typical air and Googling shit during a super pod, but yeah, the tables look
[00:32:34] really cool.
[00:32:35] Like the little zombie heads look really fucking awesome for a Game Boy Advance game.
[00:32:39] Yeah, the graphics were awesome.
[00:32:41] It was a nice and gory.
[00:32:42] Oh, Jerry, was that one pinball game or you're thinking about was it crew ball?
[00:32:46] Oh, no, not the crew ball.
[00:32:50] Maybe that's what it is.
[00:32:51] Kiss pinball.
[00:32:53] Kiss pinball is bad.
[00:32:55] Was it dinosaur world apparently?
[00:32:56] Did I have dinosaur or something?
[00:32:58] No, it didn't have dinosaurs.
[00:33:01] This will remain a mystery until the minute you hit stop recording and I'll be like,
[00:33:08] I remember.
[00:33:11] Oh, okay.
[00:33:12] Let's see.
[00:33:13] I've got some names.
[00:33:14] Is it Dino Land?
[00:33:16] There was no dinosaurs.
[00:33:17] Even if you said it, he wouldn't know it.
[00:33:21] What else do you have?
[00:33:23] Well, last one I had on my list could be been going through a much quicker than I expected.
[00:33:29] I'm very briefly mentioned it earlier, but definitely could describe each one.
[00:33:33] Like yeah, the bulk.
[00:33:34] Do you hit pull the punch back and launch the ball?
[00:33:38] The puncher?
[00:33:40] Yeah, it's a fung.
[00:33:42] Oh man, I've been thinking plunges are something different all this time.
[00:33:46] I mean, there's the raiding rabbits, conjures and then there's the pinball plunges.
[00:33:51] Oh, I like how you use raving rabbits as a reference to for me to know what a regular puncher is.
[00:33:58] Because they have these plungers all the time.
[00:34:01] Yeah, you have stick them on the wall so Rayman can escape and trip.
[00:34:06] Because he climbs up them.
[00:34:08] Yeah, demons tilt though.
[00:34:09] That's the last one I had.
[00:34:11] It's kind of like a spiritual successor to doubles crush.
[00:34:16] Man, it's wild.
[00:34:18] This is the one that has all sorts of kind of shmup elements because there's bullets and
[00:34:22] other projectiles flying at the ball while you're just shooting all over the
[00:34:26] goddamn place, rackin up, gigantic combos.
[00:34:29] There's just 8 million bonus levels to the game.
[00:34:33] There's just like, gnarly like cyber which face in the middle and you just continually
[00:34:40] like blasted apart until it becomes super demonic.
[00:34:45] And it's yes, awesome.
[00:34:46] It's a Christians, worst nightmare.
[00:34:48] It's great.
[00:34:49] It is great.
[00:34:50] And also on switch, it has tape mode.
[00:34:54] So I bought a special.
[00:34:55] Oh, you know, for my TV.
[00:34:57] So I can pull a cable and rotate my TV 90 degrees and have a vertical.
[00:35:02] And this will rotate and I can have the vertical pinball screen.
[00:35:07] You know, I don't have the bars on the side.
[00:35:10] It's just full screen pinball.
[00:35:12] Tell me what is awesome if you can rotate your TV.
[00:35:16] Good old tape mode.
[00:35:19] There's also a totet.
[00:35:21] There's apparently also a newer one by the same devs.
[00:35:24] I think called, called Zeno tilt, hostile pinball action.
[00:35:28] And I was really, really want that.
[00:35:31] It looks awesome, actually.
[00:35:33] Holy, you know what I should.
[00:35:34] You know what I do actually remember being kind of a fun game was a Mario pinball game,
[00:35:39] which one was that?
[00:35:40] Gameboy advanced.
[00:35:41] Oh, yeah.
[00:35:42] It's for GBA.
[00:35:43] Yeah, I've ever been.
[00:35:45] Yeah, it's looking really good on that.
[00:35:47] Like for a GBA game.
[00:35:49] I did and they were like certain secret stages in that,
[00:35:52] like there was the blue mushroom that made you smaller.
[00:35:56] And you had to get one of those to get in a tiny hall door.
[00:36:00] Yeah, it was really neat.
[00:36:02] Like that's that's my jam.
[00:36:04] That's like stuff like that.
[00:36:05] You know, like yokews or Mario pinball land or like stuff like those,
[00:36:09] the crush games where it's,
[00:36:12] it's not just straight up pinball.
[00:36:14] It's more arcadey.
[00:36:15] Or no, it's not arcadey.
[00:36:17] I mean, it's a big ball star.
[00:36:19] They're usually found in an arcade.
[00:36:22] That's their net.
[00:36:23] The Mario ones and the Kirby ones are a little bit slower versus like the doubles till
[00:36:29] or the crush, which are faster.
[00:36:33] The other thing to consider, it must be difficult to develop a pinball game because
[00:36:39] like even back then you had to have a certain degree of like coding physics,
[00:36:46] Like right now in a way that's different from coding just like when Mario jumps,
[00:36:51] he goes in the air.
[00:36:53] Like this was more like velocity and shit like that.
[00:36:57] Like I got to imagine that it must have been difficult to kind of coat that stuff.
[00:37:03] So maybe like, I don't know, maybe like when you play the ones that are
[00:37:07] a little slow.
[00:37:08] Like wasn't, I remember Sonic Spinball being ironically very slow and chunky feeling.
[00:37:15] It's like you'd expect it to be super fast and it's like a fucking power point presentation.
[00:37:21] When I say slower for like Mario pinball and Kirby's pinball,
[00:37:26] the balls can still move fast.
[00:37:29] But like in the devil's crush,
[00:37:31] the ball can move and possibly fast to follow and react to at times.
[00:37:38] Yeah, here you go.
[00:37:39] And you got to check out Mario pinball and dude.
[00:37:42] I'm going to download a ROM right now.
[00:37:44] I mean, I'm going to borrow from a friend right now.
[00:37:47] Yeah.
[00:37:47] I actually did manage to script together another game,
[00:37:53] but let's let Willie throw another couple at us.
[00:37:56] Okay.
[00:37:57] Well, let's go to the new and current pinball games right now.
[00:38:02] I mean, what's out there on the switch?
[00:38:04] There's lots of cheap shitty pinball games that you get for like one or two dollars each.
[00:38:09] It's not worth it.
[00:38:10] Don't do it.
[00:38:13] There is I mean, there's if you like the old physical machines.
[00:38:18] There's Zachary up in ball,
[00:38:20] which is like accurate representations of,
[00:38:25] I don't know, like 50 40 30 40 50 old pinball machines.
[00:38:32] Ooh, that's that's cool actually.
[00:38:35] So that's a cool collection of stuff that most people have never heard of any of these pinball tables.
[00:38:41] You know, from a time when they may have been illegal in the United States.
[00:38:46] The Mac crazy was there was there a virtual boy pinball game?
[00:38:50] I'm pretty sure there was actually a virtual boy pinball galactic pinball.
[00:38:54] Yes, yes, this was this was cool.
[00:38:57] And I think I mentioned this before like,
[00:39:00] there's ways now to like if you have a 3DS that you can apply like soft mods too,
[00:39:07] you could actually get the virtual boy emulator on a 3DS.
[00:39:11] And it acts in 3D like stereo,
[00:39:13] it's got the 3D on like he's turn up the stuff.
[00:39:17] But the way that I played a few virtual boy games emulated,
[00:39:21] like semi recently like in the last four or five years was on my quest with the emulator on the quest.
[00:39:28] Oh, like it does like it does the 3D.
[00:39:31] And I played through from start to finish the the warrior land one on there.
[00:39:36] And I remember throwing on this pinball one and I was like, you know what when you emulate these games in 2D.
[00:39:42] They're fine.
[00:39:43] But when you actually get to see what they were going for with the virtual boy.
[00:39:48] It's kind of cool.
[00:39:49] It's kind of cool.
[00:39:51] Now I've got cataracts.
[00:39:54] You ever see somebody trying to try to like have you had either of you ever tried to place your face into a virtual boy.
[00:40:02] Never.
[00:40:03] That's that's that whole sentence.
[00:40:04] Yeah, I'm sorry.
[00:40:05] That sounds terrible.
[00:40:08] You're going to place your face into a virtual boy.
[00:40:12] Not the worst place that I've placed my face.
[00:40:16] Hell yeah.
[00:40:17] Hey, come on.
[00:40:18] Come on.
[00:40:18] You're boiling me.
[00:40:19] Place my face on you.
[00:40:20] Let me.
[00:40:21] Of course.
[00:40:22] Yeah.
[00:40:23] But just partially.
[00:40:25] Holy shit.
[00:40:26] Should we.
[00:40:27] I know it feels like we just started this.
[00:40:29] But should we take an ad break?
[00:40:33] Perhaps perhaps.
[00:40:34] Perhaps the rap.
[00:40:36] Perchance.
[00:40:37] Perchance.
[00:40:38] We chant, take an ad break.
[00:40:40] Take haste.
[00:40:42] Okay.
[00:40:43] Post haste.

[00:44:42] Uh, holy shit.
[00:44:44] Oh, hey, hey, Jerry, how do you, um, what's your favorite kind of, kind of, snacks?
[00:44:50] Like, what could we like a snack, when you're feeling snacky?
[00:44:54] I don't know.
[00:44:56] I don't know, I'm a man of simple things.
[00:44:59] I like a handful of granola.
[00:45:02] I like a handful of cheese, and then I like a handful of pickles.
[00:45:09] Ooh.
[00:45:10] At the same time, how many hands you got?
[00:45:14] A couple.
[00:45:17] Well, let me introduce to you a, the revolutionary new snack in the snack world.
[00:45:26] I guess I don't know. It's flavor blasted amphibian crunchies, baby.
[00:45:31] It's, uh, you're, your favorite kinds of snacks, but the shape of amphibians possibly made,
[00:45:37] made from amphibians, so like turtles, uh, uh, salamanders, um, frogs.
[00:45:48] Anyway, yeah, put them on your wedding cakes.
[00:45:52] You can put them on your cupcakes.
[00:45:54] You can put them on your muffins.
[00:45:56] Excellent.
[00:45:56] It's a lot of crapes.
[00:45:58] Yeah, actually going to have your chicken and waffles with these, and that's delicious.
[00:46:02] All you need to do is you go find yourself amphibian, and you put it in the flavor blaster, which is basically just like one of those,
[00:46:11] like, um, those money tanks.
[00:46:13] We're like airs blowing money around.
[00:46:15] And you're like trying cash all the money, except it's like much tiniere,
[00:46:19] like the size of an amphibian, and you throw in like loury,
[00:46:23] scent like cheese powder, and then he hit the bun.
[00:46:25] It's like, and then this frog is just covered in, in flavor and seasoning.
[00:46:29] It's in true for all of you, uh, DIY Pinterest enjoyers out there.
[00:46:35] This is, this will be right up your alley.
[00:46:37] Y'all mean, you're, jah.
[00:46:40] But, Willie, what's your favorite flavor combination for when you're, your failure in the mood for feasting upon an amphibian?
[00:46:48] I mean, I do like the tropical nudie.
[00:46:53] Just pineapple chili powder, chocolate and juice.
[00:46:57] The, the nude.
[00:46:59] So my God.
[00:47:00] Send nudes.
[00:47:04] I, uh,
[00:47:05] I really enjoy risking my life to attempt to wrestle a commoto dragon into an air fryer.
[00:47:13] Sound interesting.
[00:47:14] No, that's a reptile.
[00:47:16] I don't care.
[00:47:16] They still taste wrong in there.
[00:47:18] They do still taste good.
[00:47:20] Just don't get hit.
[00:47:21] Just don't get hit by any part of their body or you will die.
[00:47:25] And that has nothing to do with the sponsor.
[00:47:28] They, they take no responsibility for anybody that dies.
[00:47:31] You want to go after a commoto dragon.
[00:47:33] That's on you.
[00:47:34] If you want to dial it back and you want to be like, I'm going to pretend to clutch Godzilla
[00:47:38] And then you just catch an iguana.
[00:47:39] So be it.
[00:47:40] I mean, that's the world is your, I'm not a ghost.
[00:47:43] I'm a baby.
[00:47:43] I don't care.
[00:47:46] Um, so, next thing, it's nakes.
[00:47:50] The thing you got to realize is if you want to put a dog in there, you can put a dog in there.
[00:47:53] You can be like, that's what is your tiny dog.
[00:47:57] Tiny dog.
[00:47:58] Tiny dog is a stupid dog.
[00:48:00] Oh, that's okay.
[00:48:01] Keep going.
[00:48:02] Keep going.
[00:48:04] So, so tiny dogs, right?
[00:48:07] At the core of this, essentially, we start off with amphibians.
[00:48:12] Then we, we realize that lizards are just amphibians.
[00:48:15] And then eventually we realize that birds are also just lizards.
[00:48:19] And then we go back prehistoricly and we're like, well, birds are dinosaurs.
[00:48:23] So, Aaron, of course, you know, super pod saga always has the DLC.
[00:48:30] So, yep, you're going to get exclusive super pod saga dinosaur fucking confetti.
[00:48:45] You know what?
[00:48:47] This, I've ever changed it.
[00:48:48] It's not amphibians anymore.
[00:48:49] It's just whatever, whenever animal population is not a control.
[00:48:52] Like, you just keep it in families.
[00:48:54] We don't want to confuse everybody.
[00:48:56] Oh, it's true.
[00:48:56] Okay.
[00:48:57] The amphibians are getting out of control.
[00:48:59] So, yeah, this is what we're doing to control the population.
[00:49:02] That's all, we're all hunger.
[00:49:03] So like, yeah, if you've got, if you've got a bunch of fucking tadpoles that are
[00:49:07] causing a ruckus and you're back yard pond, you're like, hey, tadpoles.
[00:49:11] Fucking cool, let bro.
[00:49:12] You catch them in a jar and then you pour some like cool ranch these and
[00:49:17] eat them and like some cinnamon in there and you shiit good.
[00:49:19] No, no cinnamon.
[00:49:21] Or, or sorry put them in there and then I'm like, yeah, car to boob, yeah, car to boob.
[00:49:26] Put some comment in there.
[00:49:28] Some time with some time in there and I apologize, you don't shake them.
[00:49:34] You put them in the flavor blaster.
[00:49:35] You put it on there, twist the top hit the button and it like vacuum seals them and
[00:49:41] that blast the flavoring right up in their faces and shit totally human by the way.
[00:49:46] Here's the thing.
[00:49:47] You can really experiment with these.
[00:49:50] When we got our test kits here, I decided to go knock on my next door, shareles, door
[00:49:56] and say, hey, Cheryl, let me come show you this thing I got.
[00:50:00] Can you flavor blast the Cheryl?
[00:50:01] And I flavor blasted Cheryl.
[00:50:05] The cops are still looking forward.
[00:50:07] So Cheryl is now a creamy deal, Cheryl.
[00:50:12] She sounds absolutely tasty.
[00:50:14] Fuck it.
[00:50:15] Oh my god.
[00:50:16] You know what, and her husband, Gord?
[00:50:20] You got a garlic gord.
[00:50:22] Gord is, is that his real net gord?
[00:50:25] There's no it's a real name.
[00:50:27] Gord done.
[00:50:28] I don't know.
[00:50:29] Oh, fuck.
[00:50:30] Gord Freeman.
[00:50:32] I'm gonna take an actual gord or a pumpkin.
[00:50:35] You can flavor blast that shit too, man.
[00:50:38] Yep.
[00:50:39] Yeah, I forgot the blast whatever you want.
[00:50:41] You could put an entire synthesizer in there with Cheryl.
[00:50:44] And there you go, you guys.
[00:50:46] Synthesized Cheryl fucking creamy deal salsa.
[00:50:50] I like how this went from like snack foods to the answer.
[00:50:56] Yeah, it's preheating animals.
[00:50:58] Yeah, it's a cannibalism.
[00:51:02] Thank you flavor blast flavor blasted in Bibby and crunchys for flavor blast me.
[00:51:13] Oh, I bet you could.
[00:51:16] It would be like a fucking saw trap.
[00:51:19] There's no way that all of those police are in good shape.
[00:51:24] There's some fucking way.
[00:51:25] They're kicking down the door to try to track down some drug dealer.
[00:51:28] And it's like, hello Milwaukee police force.
[00:51:31] Who would I want to play a game or would you like to play a game or what's it for?
[00:51:34] Is it the song?
[00:51:35] Yes, it was the be the song guy.
[00:51:38] So he just comes in a knocken.
[00:51:39] No, the police not in the door.
[00:51:42] And then they then they're in the saw trap and then it plays the video tape from the song.
[00:51:47] I want to put jigsaw and his stupid little tricycle in the flavor blaster.
[00:51:53] Thank you for watching.
[00:51:56] I'm so blue cheese ranch.
[00:52:17] Yes, we are.
[00:52:18] Yeah, I think we're back.
[00:52:20] Yeah, we're back.
[00:52:21] The flavor blasts are so do you got me good.
[00:52:26] Oh, the last one, the last game I was able to find that kind of popped out of my list.
[00:52:32] Pokemon pinball would be in Sapphire.
[00:52:34] Pretty fucking cool actually.
[00:52:35] Are they good?
[00:52:36] Yeah, it's been curious about them.
[00:52:40] I hear mixed things.
[00:52:42] It's good.
[00:52:42] It's bad.
[00:52:43] It's partly luck.
[00:52:45] Your ball can get stuck behind flippers.
[00:52:48] At the retro hangover podcast, we just did a monthly challenge recently.
[00:52:56] Like a high score challenge.
[00:52:57] Yeah, it was Pokemon pinball and yeah, people were complaining about glitches that would happen.
[00:53:04] And the end.
[00:53:04] And how it was mostly of luck based on your run.
[00:53:10] It's much like at work.
[00:53:11] I have a visit.
[00:53:12] We have an actual pinball machine at work.
[00:53:15] It's called the 4 Square.
[00:53:17] It's like the 1974 pinball machine down and it is mostly luck.
[00:53:24] Well, fuck that fuck Pokemon then.
[00:53:30] I got to say though, if you want quality pinball, look no further than little mermaid
[00:53:37] to pinball frenzy.
[00:53:40] What was that for?
[00:53:43] Gameboy.
[00:53:43] It's not good.
[00:53:45] Why?
[00:53:46] Why that of all properties like why the little mermaid they had there were probably so many more
[00:53:53] properties back in like that time that they could have made into a pinball game.
[00:53:58] What did this come out?
[00:54:00] 2000 you could have made a fucking digital pinball.
[00:54:03] You could have made.
[00:54:04] So many things.
[00:54:06] You could have there's something.
[00:54:07] You could have made a super.
[00:54:09] Yeah, super.
[00:54:11] Yeah, super.
[00:54:13] Little mermaid too.
[00:54:15] Bro, was there even a little mermaid to movie?
[00:54:19] There doesn't need to be a direct video.
[00:54:22] I'm sure there was direct video.
[00:54:26] They'll get you every time with the direct videos.
[00:54:29] What you're saying the game is not good.
[00:54:32] No, no it is not.
[00:54:35] It's it's in fact it's bad.
[00:54:36] Very bad.
[00:54:37] Okay cool.
[00:54:39] Can I have me on the hook there for a minute but still.
[00:54:41] I'll hit your jab here.
[00:54:42] Taking a look at that.
[00:54:43] Dino lane one, two on Genesis.
[00:54:45] It's kind of cool actually.
[00:54:47] Yeah man get it.
[00:54:48] No yeah go buy it.
[00:54:49] No I mean like go buy it.
[00:54:51] Go buy right now.
[00:54:52] Go buy a complete box copy.
[00:54:53] Take take take your wallet out.
[00:54:55] Buy three by one for each of us.
[00:54:57] Yeah.
[00:54:58] That's the way to be.
[00:55:00] Let's true.
[00:55:00] Look at a whole star you if you can't even buy us a fucking copy.
[00:55:04] A little mermaid's pinball fantasy dream number two.
[00:55:10] I don't know.
[00:55:11] Cares of a little mermaid.
[00:55:13] Will it will ask you a force where I'm going to get it email at the round later today.
[00:55:19] Do cheap to buy it.
[00:55:20] I should have bought it.
[00:55:21] So it's got your fucking money.
[00:55:23] He probably would still be like if you could Venmo me real quick for the copy of this
[00:55:27] from.
[00:55:30] No dude I'm not even Venmo cash.
[00:55:33] Fuck that shit.
[00:55:34] That's way too fancy for him.
[00:55:35] Can you send me a letter?
[00:55:37] You said you.
[00:55:39] You said be a check.
[00:55:41] I thought I have no way to fuck it cash that check.
[00:55:44] Send me your credit cards in the mail.
[00:55:48] If with your pins.
[00:55:50] Come over and hand me cash.
[00:55:53] So all my picks.
[00:55:55] I've done most of them.
[00:55:56] You guys have picked some of them.
[00:55:58] The only one on my list we haven't covered yet.
[00:56:01] It covers three generations.
[00:56:02] I started this game on ps3.
[00:56:08] And it's on ps5 and xbox series right now also.
[00:56:13] It's called pinball effects or Zen pinball.
[00:56:17] It was originally Zen pinball.
[00:56:19] Then there was Zen pinball two and Zen pinball three.
[00:56:23] Then pinball effects.
[00:56:25] And then they had to redo the engine.
[00:56:26] They went from like Unreal forward on real five.
[00:56:29] So it's called pinball effects again.
[00:56:31] But any tables that you had from before don't transfer over.
[00:56:36] So you got to buy tables right?
[00:56:39] Yeah, you can get the game for free and then you buy packs of tables like three or four tables for ten dollars or you can buy individual tables or they should bigger packs.
[00:56:50] They have original stuff.
[00:56:52] They used to do just you know originals and pinball tables.
[00:56:56] Like on ps3 ps4.
[00:56:59] But then they got they like merged with Williams or ballet.
[00:57:04] I forget which I think was Williams.
[00:57:07] And so they started doing recreation,
[00:57:09] virtual recreations of physical tables instead of their own creations.
[00:57:14] It was good to.
[00:57:15] They all do and they play really good.
[00:57:19] Like when I started playing on ps3.
[00:57:21] I still had a CRT TV.
[00:57:24] And they were great. Then when we got an HD TV,
[00:57:27] it had a little bit of leg and I couldn't play it anymore.
[00:57:31] I had like all the marvel tables.
[00:57:34] There were so many.
[00:57:34] They were like four different Hulk tables for World War Hulk.
[00:57:38] They were like multiple spider mand tables.
[00:57:40] Did they really add them to the family?
[00:57:42] Because that's the only one I actually remember physically.
[00:57:46] They may I don't know if they have that yet.
[00:57:50] I remember that like I remember the term rate.
[00:57:52] They do have one.
[00:57:53] And crazy.
[00:57:55] Yeah, they have their house.
[00:57:56] There was a bunch of original stuff that they would do like a
[00:58:00] Plants vs. Zombies table.
[00:58:02] That one was really good.
[00:58:04] Cool.
[00:58:05] And there was one that was like an RPG table where you could level up your character.
[00:58:11] Level up your ball.
[00:58:13] It was kind of like money, money pythonish.
[00:58:17] Where you were like a goofy night.
[00:58:19] Really?
[00:58:20] Yeah, I forgot the name of that one.
[00:58:21] That's cool.
[00:58:23] But yeah, the recreations that they do have stuff like medieval madness.
[00:58:31] Like all the real tables that they port over were really good.
[00:58:37] It's not quite as good as playing a physical table.
[00:58:41] But it's about as close as you can get.
[00:58:45] Yeah, I've checked out pinball effects.
[00:58:47] I think it's stalled it on PC maybe.
[00:58:54] And just I think it comes with like one or two boards for free.
[00:58:57] And I remember just being like, wow, this is wild.
[00:59:01] They've really been able to capture the feel of a pit.
[00:59:06] Isn't it like multiple angles and shit too that you can look at the table at?
[00:59:10] Oh yeah, there's eight different angles.
[00:59:11] You can look at each table at.
[00:59:13] You can move the like digital that matrix display from to the middle of the left,
[00:59:17] the right and adjust the size.
[00:59:20] You can you can adjust.
[00:59:22] Kind of is like the ultimate pinball game for people that really enjoy like because I mean,
[00:59:28] I again, I'll reiterate my depth of knowledge in pinball is real fucking shallow.
[00:59:36] Like dive head first and it will be a pair of policing like that's how shallow.
[00:59:40] So I think that even people that are really into pinball like the physical pinball,
[00:59:50] I feel like this game would be really cool for those that are into that kind of thing.
[00:59:55] Yeah, they have like online tournaments for high scores.
[00:59:59] There's like that's all sorts of different game modes where you can be like how much can I get with one ball.
[01:00:04] There's a standard three ball mode.
[01:00:06] There's like modes where you have to reach a certain score within 30 seconds.
[01:00:12] And if you hit it, then you get another 30 seconds reach the next score and like accelerates.
[01:00:17] It's like there's multiple different game modes.
[01:00:20] You can play local four player and pass the controller back and forth like you're playing on a real pinball machine.
[01:00:27] You know, pass the controller everybody takes turns with like all of these different dozens and dozens of pinball machines.
[01:00:35] Both original and real machines. That's great.
[01:00:38] There's also another another horror version that they call pinball M instead of pinball FX.
[01:00:46] And that has like a tricky data is my shit.
[01:00:49] Is that is that cake didn't like kind of have with the built into cake did is a cake to the.
[01:00:57] Pibball FX game.
[01:00:59] No symbol M is separate on my Xbox it's a separate game, but it's the same game engine the same unreal five pinball game engine the same studio.
[01:01:11] But they just use horror.
[01:01:13] Hort of themes for that horror movie.
[01:01:15] Yeah, that sounds awesome.
[01:01:17] That's really cool and I'm pretty sure you can download it for free.
[01:01:21] You get like samples like oh, this week you can play this table. Oh, this week you can play this table.
[01:01:27] And then if you like it, you know, pay five bucks on the table.
[01:01:30] Yeah, that's that is neat.
[01:01:33] Yeah.
[01:01:34] I'm going down this rabbit hole of a Googling different different pinball games from over the years and I found this one.
[01:01:43] Smona Pumbo's jungle games.
[01:01:45] Oh, yes, the computer's which had a pinball game on that sounds really cool.
[01:01:50] It's it's not me.
[01:01:52] I don't know.
[01:01:53] I'll play a little mermaid one.
[01:01:55] I've I've I've I've felt it's a lot better than I'm afraid.
[01:01:58] Wait, that's a moment.
[01:01:59] Boom, but thing it's.
[01:02:02] That's not a good game.
[01:02:04] Yeah, even my wife, Sean, she says when the matter is space could that we already mentioned that.
[01:02:08] She's not wrong.
[01:02:09] I mean, that that sticks out to me like a lot just because we were poor.
[01:02:15] When we had Windows 98 and that was that was my game as well.
[01:02:20] Do you also going to all the cool tables they have for pinball effects and they have they have one for family guy and like Bob's burgers.
[01:02:27] They have eight million Marvel ones and like,
[01:02:30] movie alien and alien isolation and dude.
[01:02:35] There's stories.
[01:02:37] There's like there's like a dozen different star wars ones.
[01:02:39] There's like one for each movie and there's a cell phone.
[01:02:42] And then there's a cell phone.
[01:02:45] Oh, yeah.
[01:02:46] Wow, portal Holy shit.
[01:02:48] I might have to grab this.
[01:02:51] Oh, yeah, there was a whole video game expansion with like four different video game based tables.
[01:02:56] Could have the science movies coming soon.
[01:02:59] There's going to be a.
[01:03:01] A cool simulator pinball table.
[01:03:03] I hope the goat is the brawl.
[01:03:04] God, please tell.
[01:03:07] The plants.
[01:03:08] The plants versus zombies one was really good.
[01:03:10] Man, maybe I like pinball more than I thought.
[01:03:13] But as much this this game is really good.
[01:03:17] It controls really good but I do have certain complaints about it.
[01:03:22] On the Xbox, I've had it crash multiple times and on the switch.
[01:03:29] I've had issues with you know,
[01:03:30] I downloaded this on the switch pinball games.
[01:03:33] We're going on a road trip.
[01:03:35] I want to play these pinball games.
[01:03:36] Well, I'm writing passenger seat in the car.
[01:03:39] But it would not load the game up.
[01:03:42] Well, I wasn't connected to Wi-Fi.
[01:03:43] Oh, that's stupid.
[01:03:45] And it's completely downloaded.
[01:03:48] Physical or not physical, but you know,
[01:03:51] a DLC game I've got it downloaded.
[01:03:53] But it wouldn't work.
[01:03:54] It wasn't like a game that said you need to be online 100% of the time.
[01:03:59] Yeah, but the game would boot up crash.
[01:04:02] It wouldn't open when I got back home.
[01:04:05] I connected to Wi-Fi.
[01:04:06] The game would open up again.
[01:04:07] So I've had lots of issues both on the Xbox and on the switch.
[01:04:12] And I am reluctant to buy more tables on this game.
[01:04:15] That sucks.
[01:04:17] I can't believe, like a,
[01:04:19] I can't have a pinball game would make you
[01:04:20] would force you to connect online,
[01:04:22] man.
[01:04:22] That's so stupid.
[01:04:25] On a much funnier note, much lighter notes.
[01:04:29] We know what a hear mentioned.
[01:04:30] Austin Power is pinball and PS1.
[01:04:32] And I'm very upset.
[01:04:34] Tell us how you really feel.
[01:04:35] Tell us about it.
[01:04:37] I'm upset.
[01:04:38] I'm upset.
[01:04:39] Was that in the pro pinball series too?
[01:04:44] I don't think so.
[01:04:45] No, it's just all in all.
[01:04:46] PS1, there's apparently four Austin Powers games.
[01:04:49] Holy shit.
[01:04:50] It's a trivia game.
[01:04:52] Game Boy Color games.
[01:04:54] It's you.
[01:04:55] What else there is here?
[01:04:57] Packed me in pinball advance.
[01:04:58] That sounds cool.
[01:05:00] Wasn't it like a meme,
[01:05:02] a Pac-Man thing that was like a pinball game or something?
[01:05:04] That was kind of familiar.
[01:05:07] Half pinball, half video game.
[01:05:10] Kind of like it was like a mini combo unit kind
[01:05:12] of like the Super Mario Bros.
[01:05:14] been ball machine.
[01:05:15] That sounds kind of cool though.
[01:05:17] Yeah.
[01:05:17] That fuck with it.
[01:05:18] It's a novelty.
[01:05:19] I'm gonna throw a couple quarters
[01:05:20] and if I see that at the arcade for sure.
[01:05:23] Throw off feels silver's in there.
[01:05:24] Oh, here's one.
[01:05:26] Fuck it's straw penny.
[01:05:29] Use one from the Saturn.
[01:05:30] It's digital pinball last gladiators.
[01:05:33] That sounds pretty cool.
[01:05:34] I feel like you could just say anything and I would believe
[01:05:36] it's a pinball machine.
[01:05:38] I'm looking at it up on well,
[01:05:39] it's been ball video game but you could be like
[01:05:42] the jungle book corner copy of sadness pinball machine.
[01:05:49] Oh, that was so depressing.
[01:05:52] Raster Blaster.
[01:05:53] Oh, psycho pinball.
[01:05:54] Yeah, we were talking about these are super cool.
[01:05:57] Sorry about real pinball games.
[01:06:00] Do you guys have a favorite real pinball game
[01:06:02] that you played or when you played?
[01:06:06] I played the one I played the most.
[01:06:09] I remember it was that one's got the trigger instead of the
[01:06:13] plunger.
[01:06:14] Maybe that's why you don't know what a plunger is.
[01:06:17] It doesn't have a trigger.
[01:06:18] I do remember that now.
[01:06:20] Oh, yeah.
[01:06:21] It's got like the little gun handle.
[01:06:23] And I can't recall any of those up.
[01:06:26] No, I think last time we played was maybe like a
[01:06:30] Jurassic Park one.
[01:06:31] I'm pretty sure the old school one or actually they
[01:06:36] remade it two, but it has the T-Rex that comes down and
[01:06:38] grabbed you ball.
[01:06:39] Just like the thing did.
[01:06:42] That was family one was good too.
[01:06:44] yeah, pretty sure was Jurassic Park.
[01:06:46] Or yeah, yeah with a little dyesore had거
[01:06:48] known, yo, Jurassic Park people, was she fuck yeah.
[01:06:52] When I went to a fun spott and new hamster,
[01:06:54] I got to play Hercules, which was a Tyreus final pinball table.
[01:07:00] And after they made that, they said, no, fuck it, we're out.
[01:07:05] But it was a double wide.
[01:07:08] It was the world's largest production pinball.
[01:07:12] Instead of pinballs, they use like pool cues.
[01:07:17] It's like an eight foot playing table.
[01:07:20] It's you.
[01:07:20] What the fuck?
[01:07:21] God, dude.
[01:07:22] Yep, looking at looking at it.
[01:07:24] But just like, oh, yeah, fuckers huge.
[01:07:27] That's like, you could use that as your dining room table, dude.
[01:07:30] I mean, that was a good dining table.
[01:07:32] This is a five fairly simple pinball machine,
[01:07:36] but that's a cool feat that they actually made it.
[01:07:41] I had no idea, Atari made pinball machines though.
[01:07:45] It's really really good.
[01:07:46] I didn't either honestly.
[01:07:48] Yep, for a while they did weird stuff like the,
[01:07:51] the ones that had like two sets of flippers.
[01:07:54] They did shit like that.
[01:07:56] Googling weird pinball machines.
[01:07:59] Let's see what we find.
[01:08:00] The first pinball machine to have flippers was produced in the UK
[01:08:05] when a pinball was illegal in the US.
[01:08:08] A legal.
[01:08:09] I was at a legal.
[01:08:11] Yeah, it was a gambling mechanic.
[01:08:14] They would have before they had a flipper as it would be kind of like the
[01:08:17] linker where you would launch the ball and would come down
[01:08:21] and you could like just nudge it to adjust where the ball goes.
[01:08:25] And like if it went into a prize pocket,
[01:08:29] then like you would win, you know, a beer from the bar you were playing at or whatever.
[01:08:33] Oh, way.
[01:08:35] Yeah, and so they said all this is gambling.
[01:08:37] You can't like give out money or beer for this game.
[01:08:40] So was illegal in the US for years.
[01:08:43] That's so crazy.
[01:08:46] Well, it was illegal.
[01:08:48] I don't remember which company in mynaven Zacharia that invented flippers.
[01:08:53] And I think it was the table Humpty Dumpty and it had six flippers.
[01:08:58] Six.
[01:08:59] Yep.
[01:09:00] There were three sets.
[01:09:00] There was a set near the top one in the middle and one at the bottom.
[01:09:04] Could you imagine?
[01:09:05] Shit.
[01:09:06] Back in the day getting arrested for playing pinball.
[01:09:09] Like imagine having that conversation with your grandchildren.
[01:09:12] Like back in my day, they couldn't contain me.
[01:09:16] I was a wild card.
[01:09:17] I was a playing pinball when you were supposed to.
[01:09:21] They couldn't fucking contain me.
[01:09:23] I had eyes score and they couldn't do nothing about it.
[01:09:27] Yeah, they're not going on your door.
[01:09:28] We know you've been playing illegal pinball.
[01:09:32] Open the door.
[01:09:32] Let me see the indentations on your fingers.
[01:09:36] Yeah.
[01:09:37] Ooh, there's this one looks really cool.
[01:09:39] Safe cracker.
[01:09:41] It's got a, I don't know how to describe it.
[01:09:45] It's got Google Safe Cracker pinball.
[01:09:48] I don't know how to explain it.
[01:09:50] Twisted Safe Cracker.
[01:09:52] Basically, like an normal table but it's got like
[01:09:56] Other pieces attached to like doors on either side of the top part.
[01:10:00] I don't know what the names of parts of a pinball machine are.
[01:10:06] It's crazy.
[01:10:07] It's, yeah.
[01:10:08] Oh, that's it for me, man.
[01:10:11] Yeah, I mean, I came into this with the least amount of information on pinball.
[01:10:16] Really do you go well sports, man?
[01:10:18] With physical pinball games and video games.
[01:10:23] There's a stern pinball and they're online achievement system.
[01:10:28] Have you played any of the new stern tables?
[01:10:31] There's like, let's up on table.
[01:10:33] There's like Godzilla.
[01:10:36] Stern has a bunch of deadpool Avengers Wolverine on Kenny Xman.
[01:10:45] But what is, oh, in stern insider, you bring up a QR code on your phone and the pinball
[01:10:52] machine scans it and all the pinball machines have achievements.
[01:10:58] Like PlayStation.
[01:10:59] There's a lot of games and tracks your high scores and well locations.
[01:11:03] You play the game at.
[01:11:05] That's pretty wild.
[01:11:06] That's awesome.
[01:11:07] Holy shit.
[01:11:10] Dude, I'm looking at their website too that they have some really awesome table.
[01:11:13] Yeah, they have iron made in.
[01:11:15] I got to go back.
[01:11:16] Yeah, the Xman one looks really awesome.
[01:11:19] That Godzilla was fun.
[01:11:21] So you John Wick.
[01:11:22] Chaws.
[01:11:23] Yeah, that Godzilla one does look insane.
[01:11:25] Yeah, I love the fufiders.
[01:11:27] I'd love to just have one of these just the fufiders one is kind of based on that.
[01:11:31] I still want to see that movie they did.
[01:11:33] Oh, the horror movie?
[01:11:34] Where they like yeah.
[01:11:35] Yeah.
[01:11:35] That's good.
[01:11:36] It's fun.
[01:11:37] That's awesome.
[01:11:38] They have achievements for that though.
[01:11:40] That's really, really cool.
[01:11:41] $7,000.
[01:11:43] Rip.
[01:11:43] I'm never going to go with.
[01:11:45] One of these days when I have fuck you money when I'm like 75 years old.
[01:11:50] I'll get a pinball machine and then I'll probably just die or something.
[01:11:54] You're hitting the flippers with your butt, but you're not hitting the flipper buttons with your fingers and your arthritis immediately flares up in your fingers like curled like peel backwards.
[01:12:04] Yeah.
[01:12:05] Yeah.
[01:12:06] I don't like curled back fingers.
[01:12:08] I mean, they're like my least favorite part of fingers is how they can curl back.
[01:12:15] I've been like, like, your whole finger like curled back word still gross.
[01:12:19] Don't like it.
[01:12:20] It's still gross.
[01:12:22] Hey, anybody else got anything else?
[01:12:26] To take us off this curled back finger thing.
[01:12:32] No.
[01:12:34] I'm in.
[01:12:36] I thought I'd have way more to talk about with pinball, but it's cool to learn that Atari made pinball than that Hercules one.
[01:12:46] I could probably just throw a hole like magic to gathering tournament on that bitch.
[01:12:50] I feel completely up with cards and stuff.
[01:12:53] I mean, if anything, we have learned here today.
[01:12:56] We've learned things before that Jerry's webcam just hates itself.
[01:13:01] It just keeps turning itself off and flickering it shit.
[01:13:21] All right, Jerry. Well, let's get the hell out of here.
