[00:11:24] cave it's probably the one of the greatest songs in an nes game ever and if you play final fantasy 14

[00:11:33] you actually have a remix in final fantasy 14 and i got such a wave of nostalgia i went and spun up

[00:11:38] the old nes game i love this game it brings back the it has the job system it is the origin of the

[00:11:43] job system which is my favorite mechanic from the franchise which i thought was great they evolve

[00:11:47] halfway through the game when you get the rat's tail that's the whole thing there to get new spells

[00:11:51] and abilities i love how it's fantasy but the end of that game people forget you know the game it goes

[00:12:34] this game this was going to be their final push i believe it was squaresoft's final push to attempt

[00:12:40] something and they were using obviously the western dnd stuff because that was super popular at the time

[00:12:46] which is why the game follows a lot of dnd rules um and they called it final fantasy because it was

[00:12:53] their final attempt to make something that was going to make the studio any kind of cash um that's why

[00:12:59] it's called final fantasy up to 16 and why it doesn't make any goddamn sense why it's called final

[00:13:04] fantasy and there's 16 of these so well there's more than 16 if you want to talk about the offshoots but

[00:13:09] um it's a fun fact that game i i love final fantasy one it was also my first rpg growing up i i remember

[00:13:16] this fondly playing it as a kid getting stuck in the uh marsh cave and uh trying and never getting

[00:13:22] past uh ass at astros atros astros astros astros yes the uh can't get past the ass it's always a

[00:13:30] problem um the the evil uh dark elf he was he was my biggest hang-up for the longest time as a child

[00:13:37] until my adult years when i went back and played it and then i beat that ass dross with uh with the

[00:13:43] weapons that were required to beat him um it's not without its faults though there's definitely

[00:13:48] some bugs and some shit in it like i don't know when you kill something and somebody else is targeting

[00:13:53] that same character the worst and the thing dies and you miss a turn yep yeah you do the same thing

[00:13:59] in golden sun which i still love don't get me wrong but i i hate i hate that that's a thing

[00:14:06] good thing werewolves it's crazy yeah yeah you'd go on a tirade about golden sun

[00:14:15] but still it's a great it's a great series it got me into the final fantasy series i i think further

[00:14:21] entries into the catalog which we will discuss here shortly got me to solidify my love for the series

[00:14:26] um but i think it's a great it's a it's a great game and the re the pixel remasters that they did

[00:14:33] extremely well done i think they're very well done and even all the like matoya's cave music is

[00:14:39] oh yeah look at off the chains fire i just love how like compared to other rpgs like dragon warrior

[00:14:46] which is another one i played early on and uh final fantasy is like the range of environments you

[00:14:52] you visit like you're visiting earth caves there's vampires there's sci-fi there's water you go

[00:14:56] underwater for a large section of the game which is weird like you have to take a sub to go down

[00:15:01] underneath the under the ocean there you know because you know life is better when you're wetter

[00:15:05] but it's just multiple vehicles airships canoe let's see i think the only instance of a canoe

[00:15:10] with a fucking jrpg it's a lot going on for the first in the franchise they had a lot of ideas for this

[00:15:18] one they're like you know what you need for this area a paddleboard let's go the fucking boogie board

[00:15:35] surfing for place to place um yeah i didn't play on my hovercraft

[00:15:42] later installments yeah i i didn't play the first final fantasy until i got it on uh gba when i was a

[00:15:52] cool like they made it look a lot nicer because i think up until then i don't it was did they ever

[00:15:59] remaster one and two for snes or am i thinking of something else i probably think of something no i

[00:16:05] think it was gba and i want to say that was like yeah neo geo pocket color or something some crazy

[00:16:10] thing like that oh yeah they did a lot of the wonder swan million and fucking one that's that was it yes

[00:16:15] i don't really like it though when these games were getting ported to like mobile and stuff and then

[00:16:21] those were translating over into like other versions of them because i thought the menus

[00:16:26] looked like fucking dog shit like yeah so bad art too the pixel art like rounded out and shit and

[00:16:34] just like i don't know trash yeah yeah look like fucking baby shit why is all my characters airbrushed

[00:16:40] this looks terrible oh yeah that's a terrible choice yeah yeah was not a fan of that stuff the pixel

[00:16:45] remasters did did it justice in that sense where they went back when they were like let's just

[00:16:51] make it look like that but it's that whole thing you know like when you're like i you know when you

[00:16:57] like look back at like old games and you're like i remember this looking way better than this and then

[00:17:02] when you play it it looks all smudgy and shitty i think that's what the pixel remasters do a good

[00:17:07] job of of being like this is how you think you remember these looking right now like now it's like

[00:17:13] it's sharper right yeah like like they brought up the the sharpness on it way too high but you're like

[00:17:18] nah man that's what it was that's what everything had an edge to it i don't i don't need things to

[00:17:22] be soft i want i want to be poked the shaders for like scan lines and stuff

[00:17:40] and the new orchestrated sound so you can play the original soundtrack that's so with the pixel arts

[00:17:46] or you can play like the new that's orchestrated stuff i think that was a really cool how would

[00:17:50] you play that would you do the original or would you do the orchestrated i like them both i mean i

[00:17:56] like i'm a nostalgic guy so i like the old beeps and boobs yeah but then if you you know you throw a

[00:18:02] a fucking full orchestra behind that throw a fucking pan flute in there and i got oh god you've got

[00:20:13] barely made it into the united states till much much later i think during the ps ps1 years maybe

[00:20:26] fantasy 2 for japan and final fantasy 2 for the northern america area because good two was four which

[00:20:35] was awesome and two was not brought over here because they thought it would be too difficult for us

[00:20:42] which is not wrong because that game was broken as shit so you know i'm kind of happy it never made

[00:30:18] elden ring and out of this i mean it's that kind of level of like holy shit like i don't know it's

[00:30:24] it's unfair to play four and then go backwards it's it's completely unfair because the games just

[00:30:30] will not hold up as well personally just the opening of four you start up the opening of four

[00:30:35] with the red wings flying in the music the scene the dialogue there that's one of the most epic

[00:30:40] openings to a game i've ever played and it still holds up even today and i look back at that versus

[00:30:45] what else came out the time like dragon's quest nobody gives a crap about dragon's quest final fantasy

[00:30:50] four was just iconic with the storytelling as much as i love the later ones in the in the franchise you've

[00:30:56] got to respect for you have to absolutely it's the gateway i mean it's it's the gateway that got you

[00:31:01] into 14 i mean you learn about dragoons you learn about dark knights and then you know paladins and

[00:31:08] all this shit yep yep yep yeah and and having him fight his inner demon like throughout it and then

[00:31:14] kane the the dragoon switching sides and then it had like your m night shamala plot twist at the end

[00:35:14] i think final fantasy six and chrono trigger were the two that were bundled together it's either that

[00:35:19] or four and chrono trigger i don't remember but four came out as well with the unplayable version of

[00:36:04] why i remember this game i remember gilgamesh and it's x death i think i remember but the rest of the plot

[00:36:12] named butts barts and what are they are barts with a z barts barts with a z but it was butts for a long time

[00:36:26] working a midnight shift and i had my laptop and i was playing through a fan translation

[00:36:29] job system was great the gameplay in this one i think is better than what was in four

[00:36:34] and in some ways for the gameplay in five over six but story-wise it's they can't hold a candle

[00:36:41] yeah the story is it's hard but gilgamesh is one of the best like hidden characters who also makes a

[00:36:46] lot of appearance in final fantasy 14 as humorous as he is in five gilgi is amazing his and the battle

[00:36:53] on the big bridge is one of the greatest final fantasy tracks ever created if you want a banger

[00:36:59] of a track go listen to battle on the big bridge that sound that song is sick but there is a huge

[00:37:06] hockey stick spike of difficulty once you get to the very end and start getting into the uh

[00:37:12] x death area where you go fight him that shit was insanely difficult but it has the absolute best job

[00:37:19] system ever created characters are you know they're not there's not a lot to remember ferris

[00:37:25] there's a there's a humorous thing between ferris and and and bart's and some of the other characters

[00:37:30] that are on there um but i mean it's it's like they took the technical stuff and made it really really

[00:37:37] good but left all the stories excuse me story stuff out from four yeah that's what i was too busy

[00:37:43] doing the job system stuff yeah but the job's a space whale it's me no these more whale

[00:37:50] definitely needs more what's um other than like would you guys say the pixel remasters are the best

[00:37:57] way to play like seven or sorry not one through six or yeah i mean i mean if you want to play the

[00:38:05] broken stuff go for it because i mean two two is i i wouldn't say it's unplayable in its original state

[00:38:12] but it is very very broken three is a little bit better but it's not it doesn't have like the pixel

[00:38:19] remaster obviously emphasizes on the story a little bit more cleans up a lot of things polishes a lot of

[00:38:25] bugs out if you're just like i just want to play it without dealing with all the issues then go for

[00:38:30] it i think i think they do really great recreations of one through six in the pixel remaster and i am a

[00:38:37] huge four and six homer um and even then i was like they did this justice i'm okay with it i'm very

[00:38:44] very very specific about how four and six were made they did the ds version of four two as well

[00:38:50] that had like the 3d spread yeah i was about to ask that what do you think about that like i have i have

[00:43:50] people are fucking scattered everywhere they don't have a clue what's going on and then you're like

[00:44:12] this ascension of just the most bonkers boss design i don't even understand like it's like

[00:44:26] just keeps going fun fact i don't i've heard rumor of this i don't know if there's truth to any of this

[00:44:32] but this is what i read about the tower of gods is what you're referring to so so there's four left

[00:44:39] four four stages to fighting kefka in the final moments of final fantasy 6 and what i believe the

[00:44:45] representation this is not mine this is what i've read about and if it's on the internet it can't be

[00:44:49] wrong um that the first stage is the devil second stage is the people the last stage is the angels

[00:44:58] and then you fight god that's what i have been told in the stages of what you're climbing up

[00:46:39] it's just this group of people even shadow who you know very little about and then find out later is

[00:46:46] realm's father but you have to look for that has a story to them that you're like holy

[00:47:44] three video game soundtracks that are on my headphones regularly at work final fantasy sushi

[00:48:44] so the pixel remaster opera scene they use the same kind of um background artwork as they used in

[00:48:51] oh god octopat traveler so it's got kind of that you know newer looking but still pixelated background

[00:48:57] yeah pop-up book background right and there's actually voices they actually got operatic singers to sing

[00:49:25] all right they're doing the opera thing that's fine but when she sings and it's like it's in tune but

[00:49:31] it's not good like it's good but it's not like everybody else has got the opera thing and she's

[00:49:44] they didn't actually get a singer to sing her parts because that's not what's going to fit with

[00:49:49] the story she's not some great opera singer she's a warrior trying to lure someone out so i i that i thought

[00:50:05] the remasters on cd as well um it's it it does good job but you can you can get it in the japanese

[00:50:11] version too so you can hear the japanese version of it with the japanese language which actually sounds

[00:57:26] shit but i mean i don't know i seven did some cool things because it brought some cool shit

[00:57:33] and it and it expanded upon it but i i just i don't know if there's anything coming off of six

[00:57:39] into seven you're kind of like really okay like they really tried to hard with the story and the

[00:57:46] story is good and i i'm with jake on the material system i like the material system i like the uh

[00:57:51] espers level system better but i think the material system is a cool skill i think there's only one

[00:57:57] other leveling system that i appreciate that's later on that jake and i will probably argue about

[00:58:02] but that out of all of them these ones are pretty good but sevens seven's man it's very middle of the

[00:58:09] road for me i don't love it i don't hate it but i i know what it did for the franchise so kudos to that

[00:58:14] yeah i am really good music i am one of those ones though i actually do really like final fantasy 7

[00:58:20] that's right that's good and the the thing is as i mentioned before i played final fantasy 6 first

[00:58:27] technically but i didn't play it final fantasy 7 was the first final fantasy that i actually played

[00:58:35] played and in a way it's kind of better because i went from final fantasy 7 and being like wow this

[00:58:43] was crazy to me as like i don't know i was like 13 i think when i played that game and then going back

[00:58:49] like a couple years later and just rediscovering final fantasy 6 kind of taught me like oh just

[00:58:56] because this one's older doesn't mean that this one's not as good as this one but i still appreciate

[00:59:02] what this one did because they're two completely different games and i think that's one of the

[00:59:07] reasons why i like final fantasy so much is because typically each game is so fucking different from the

[00:59:15] next even though yes it's an rpg they're more than likely a turn-based rpg or an action rpg

[00:59:21] um they have like kind of like the same themes throughout but like they're all so different

[00:59:27] and i feel like that's the cool thing about final fantasy is that like you will talk to people that

[00:59:34] will have like sometimes it's kind of generic like a lot of like a lot of people i'll talk to but like

[00:59:40] oh i love final fantasy 7 and i'll kind of try to challenge them and be like what other ones you

[00:59:44] like because like that's like the that's the one that a lot of people say yeah and then sometimes you

[00:59:49] get deeper and it's like oh actually i really like final fantasy 3 like 3 3 and it's like right

[00:59:55] there you go that's that's a better answer because everybody likes final fantasy 7 at some capacity

[01:00:02] and that's kind of the realization that i've i've come to is like it's just one of those games that

[01:00:07] there's kind of something there for everybody whether it's the story the characters the the

[01:00:13] environments the art design even though again jake you didn't like the art design for me going back

[01:00:19] to that that was that's like nostalgic to me in a really weird like rose tinted glasses way

[01:00:25] absolutely probably because i also grew up on n64 which had absolutely atrocious fucking big fat

[01:00:31] polygons but like i like that shit and i've i've grown to like them chunks i like them i love

[01:00:38] that immersion fog it's great i'm with you though like your nostalgia for the stuff you grew up with

[01:00:43] and for me i grew up with like i i love the fucking atari 2600s awful graphics because i grew up without

[01:00:49] my first console as a kid i love it i know but i can appreciate the snes pixel art a lot because again

[01:00:55] i grew up with those games so for me early ps1 and n64 are trash to me and they're very hard for me to

[01:01:03] go back to even though i like some of the games in those systems i love those systems but it's rough

[01:01:08] for me but i totally get it that's if that's your nostalgia then that's totally the other thing

[01:01:11] and and seven is not bad seven is a good game it's just i like i like six more yeah yeah yeah

[01:01:18] and i'm not shitting on seven the original there's there's none of that it's it's it's got some cool

[01:01:23] shit the what they the weapons out there sick ruby emerald sapphire all those weapons are

[01:01:28] fucking bangers when they go and destroy the city world map is fucking tight you got like the cool

[01:01:50] to the dark world or light to the world of ruin in six seven also has that where a good chunk of

[01:01:56] that game is midgar and then the first moment you escape midgar and you're out in this vast open

[01:02:01] green field yeah that's drastically a contrast from midgar it's actually very mind-blowing and

[01:02:06] there's so much more game after that so much yeah you feel like when you leave midgar you're like

[01:02:11] halfway through the game and you're like bro you're like not even a quarter into this thing you still got

[01:02:15] a long way to go it's it's really expansive there's a lot of good things about seven that's

[01:02:21] one thing that i've recently learned because i became a berserk overnight fanboy this year yeah

[01:02:29] and one thing that i learned was how much berserk was influencing this game's characters not even in

[01:02:40] just looks but like in the like the themes and shit so like berserk's been around for a fucking hot

[01:02:48] second and there's no way that you can like now that i i've read a lot of berserk and i played like

[01:02:57] rebirth and stuff i'm like cloud is just guts pretty much he has the same fucking sword that is the exact

[01:03:07] same sword and what do you know who's his arch rival a fucking white-haired femboy with a long

[01:03:14] skinny sword the griffith is absolutely a femboy holy shit like it's the same there's so many

[01:03:22] parallels that's just one of many but like there's so many fucking parallels so it was really fun to like

[01:03:27] piece all that together this year as i became a massive berserk fanboy yeah man and what's really

[01:03:35] what's really cool about the series too as it goes on is that uh the the main antagonists and i guess

[01:03:42] even like the main protagonists they're all really really memorable in their own weird little ways

[01:03:46] like uh yeah kefka of course and then sephiroth uh i always forget the one in eight

[01:03:53] also ultimecia or leave it that way ultimecia she can messier time charlie sheen that what she is

[01:04:01] she's mommy of the orphanage because that's a plot point you want to talk about yeah hey why don't we

[01:04:06] talk about final fantasy 8 real quick because uh what the fuck is the plot in final fantasy 8

[01:04:10] some explain to me hey they're all before we get into this i just want to say final fantasy 8 is

[01:04:17] not my favorite at all that's not even well that's good good it's not even a favorite game

[01:04:22] we're gonna rip it apart which is fine i will say this laguna is a cool character and his theme song

[01:04:31] fucking slaps the music is good especially for those parts the battle music in laguna's areas

[01:04:36] are fantastic yes but explain to me how disjointed that story is that you're flashbacking to some

[01:04:43] random character in bits and pieces and they don't explain fucking jack shit in this game

[01:04:47] all the kids are related in this orphanage for some reason ultimecia is their teacher

[01:04:53] it makes no damn sense and then you're in space and there's there's the space thing like the whole

[01:04:59] game makes no damn sense the plot was this the weakest part of the game let's let's also take

[01:05:03] squall for example as being the worst main protagonist in any goddamn final any rpg at this point this man

[01:05:11] who hates everyone hates everyone but he loves hot dogs fucking loves hot dogs no that's that's uh

[01:05:18] oh that's uh that's zell my bad that's zell fuck this guy hates everyone he gets in fights with his

[01:05:25] fucking douchebag buddy who gets possessed by whatever okay but then all of a sudden this man who hates

[01:05:40] no reason no sign no sign then he goes and saves her out in fucking space this cutscene in space

[01:05:46] absolutely makes me fucking seething she is dying she has no air in her fucking oxygen tank

[01:05:53] and then he shows up and all of a sudden she can fucking breathe and then thanks to assess machina

[01:06:00] we're just gonna drop a fucking spaceship right where you happen to be at since nobody knows where

[01:06:07] you are but hey there's ragnarok let's go fucking flying this this fucking story is awful it is awful

[01:11:38] it you just try them all but whatever you have nine nine of is one you want to use but it forces you

[01:11:43] know what the stats do and i think that is not good for this game that's when the stats kind of

[01:11:47] fill you and i think after eight they start to go away from some of the classic rpg mechanics and

[01:11:53] stats and tropes and they go in a more streamlined direction good or bad but i think eight was

[01:11:58] definitely when they stopped doing this it was just i think they tried something they were trying

[01:12:01] something new with eight right they were gonna try and kind of change the tide do something different

[01:12:06] it was like with coke and new coke they were like yeah they're like no fucking new final fantasy

[01:12:11] like let's go maybe everyone's gonna love it

[01:26:29] and the characters are cool now they've got the chibi characters you know they're small more like

[01:26:33] cutesy the design is really good though but the design's really good yeah they're not and

[01:26:38] chibi chibi fucking cool that that yeah badass so there's some really cool characters that you're

[01:26:45] like all right these are cool and then there's some characters where you're like you can literally go

[01:26:48] die in a fire and i could give a shit so but i mean the story's strong that they they go back to

[01:26:56] more of a form like you said they go back to form with with with the leveling system and stuff

[01:27:00] but i think you actually use weapons and you get abilities from the weapons or items or something

[01:27:05] like annuities and things like that weapons armor accessories yeah yeah you get you get stats from

[01:27:10] that that become permanent that you can change out armors and then keep whatever the stats

[01:27:15] have from that that specific thing it's a really good story and the ending is wolf is gone what the

[01:27:21] fuck is this in boss because it does the end boss doesn't make any sense but the rest of the

[01:27:27] characters and shit you actually give a fuck about and at the very end of the game like you kind of

[01:27:33] think all hope is lost and then they they pull the switcheroo on you and you're like oh no that's awesome

[01:27:40] that's really cool like you actually like oh shit like you're happy with the characters i i really

[01:27:46] thought nine nine is really really well done it's it's top five in my list it's it's a good good game

[01:27:52] really good game it surprised me especially coming off of eight the fucking progression system is so

[01:27:58] sick because not only do like each character of course has their own weapons and they'll learn

[01:28:04] new uh attacks and like passive abilities through their own weapons and shit but there's also like

[01:28:10] you can pass around a piece of armor and teach different characters um different abilities like

[01:28:16] there's there's passive abilities you can you can equip to make them immune to like stone or poison or

[01:28:20] sleep um there's other shit to make like um steel more effective or have steel do damage when you use

[01:28:27] it all sorts of cool shit like that um and then there's all the all the uh accessories i

[01:28:35] accessories you can have either dagger or ico equipped to learn new summons and that's also really

[01:28:41] really fucking cool and what i really like about it too is that it kind of feels like there's

[01:28:46] two characters of each kind of archetype like there's two warriors two mages two thieves and

[01:28:52] two like two healers it's weird that like a lot of the other characters have really deep backstories

[01:28:57] except for like amaranth they just kind of throw amaranth in there they're like amaranth is such a

[01:29:02] pile he's he's such like a we need a brawler character let's put him in there he's very much an

[01:29:07] afterthought he feels like an afterthought when you have the steiners and the freyas and even even

[01:29:13] dagger or whatever i can't remember her real name but yeah it's like even her backstory there's there's

[01:29:18] there's a lot of solid backstory to each character that you actually give a shit and then they're

[01:29:23] like yo amaranth he's just kind of a dick like he's he's like the thug that hangs outside of the

[01:29:29] 7-eleven and tries to shake you down your change but then he's like i guess i'll come with you i got

[01:29:33] nothing else better to fucking do and you're like why is this piece of shit with me he's he's garbage but

[01:29:39] he's kind of like his character design's cool but you're like but i fucking hate him so much like i

[01:44:40] paths you could take and some you take the chocobos and you could jump from one level to the next

[01:44:50] get that but there's still like enough secret in there and there's still enough exploration in there

[01:44:55] yeah to like to do so i mean there's a fucking hidden boss that took me literal literally days

[01:45:07] fucking madness fighting that thing but without like that stuff in it then i can definitely just

[01:48:43] guide there's hidden characters hidden bosses hidden fucking the hidden summons or what is the espers or

[01:48:49] whatever the fuck they i think they called them metalons back then but there's some really cool

[01:48:54] shit in it but it just it was overshadowed and that boss fight the final boss fight was just

[01:49:00] punching your dick over and over again i remember hearing my friend talk about like i had a buddy

[01:49:07] and he loved this fucking game he thought the game system was like the coolest fucking system ever

[01:49:12] but i remember i remember he like disappeared for like four or five days didn't hear tell of him

[01:49:18] which was weird finally he like calls me up he's like dude i've been like grinding fucking final

[01:49:25] fantasy 12 to beat zodiac for like a week and i was like i don't know what you're talking about and

[01:49:32] he was like you have no idea and he was like this is by far the most insane fucking boss fight i've ever

[01:49:41] experienced and like he he was like a few years older than me so like he also grew up on all like

[01:49:47] he literally played all the final fantasies and he said like to this day there's not a lot of bosses

[01:49:54] as hard as i think it was like an optional hunt or something like the zodiac he said it was fucked

[01:50:36] expansions so a lot of cool world building i didn't like the lack of controlling of all your

[01:50:40] party though like the gamut system i just i just not like that at all i think i've done that game

[01:50:44] down easy i think i played the remake version not too long ago and uneasy it's a much better game

[01:50:55] control characters kind of like you can like stop time and then input commands for different

[01:51:11] it's like the sphere grid kind of yeah but yeah but it's not as good the zodiac the zodiac

[01:51:23] kind of weird to get used to but it's a really really cool system you can really really fine

[01:51:29] tune and customize like cut fine tune the play style you want for like a specific style of character

[01:51:44] you get the remaster but each character was still separate though right like i mean you could make each

[01:51:49] character a magic user if you want to but they would still be very distinct from another character

[01:51:52] than your party i think yeah i think the zodiac age uh which was a different release that had a

[01:51:58] different licensing board allowed for more cross pollination on characters i think um i believe

[01:52:04] your friend was fighting yasmat which is the ultimate mark it's a giant dragon with like a sphere over

[01:52:10] its head um it's got um jesus that's a lot uh five five thousand eleven million two hundred two

[01:52:22] two thousand two hundred fifty six hit points it's level 73 um and it's insane it's the it's the

[01:52:29] highest hunting mark you can get yasmat is like probably the penance of uh final fantasy uh 12

[01:53:26] synergy yeah but you can like synergistic shit where you're perking someone up while they're doing

[01:53:33] defensive boosts and somebody else but they're you're not really like controlling the attacking

[01:53:38] so much you're just shifting the paradigm to keep it whatever it's a it's an awful game 13 is just

[01:53:46] it was like we're gonna look at how beautiful we can make this it still looks but not give it any

[01:53:52] day it's still the soundtrack is really fucking good it's a soundtrack really fucking beautiful slams

[01:53:58] but it doesn't like it's a it is a hallway simulator you are you are going one way and one way only

[01:54:04] until you get to like the second to last area in the game and then it opens up and this place is

[01:54:11] full of fucking side quests to to grind and get your levels up to take on orphan which is an awful

[01:54:17] fucking boss might i add um 13 13 could have been so much better and it just wasn't so i always wondered

[01:54:26] that you know like when that game came out i remember picking that up because i was like fuck this game

[01:54:31] looks insane like back then even back then like a lot of what i was digesting to get information from

[01:54:49] everything about it was lining up for me and i picked it up day one and so did my other buddy too

[01:55:01] was like wow this looks fucking crazy like this is out of control like how good this looks like the

[01:55:09] the voice acting was really good the motion capture all that stuff the summons are vehicles now

[01:55:25] happen but then like at a certain point we were expecting like oh when are we going to hit like

[01:55:31] the open part right and it just kept being never happened till the all of duty like yeah you're going

[02:02:38] playing a game together during the pandemic and that came came up i don't know i can't remember

[02:02:44] which one of us suggested it but it was it was free it was free to try you know just just rub your

[02:02:50] nose in a little bit of cocaine just see what happens heroin's free to try too if you find in

[02:02:55] the right spot yeah just throw it in your gums a little bit and give it a little little tasty taste

[02:02:59] and that is what happened we started playing that thing and it was like oh this is fun we're playing

[02:03:04] like an rpg together it's like we created our own characters we created like our own backstories and

[02:03:10] like we just you know you pick your classes and stuff and it was like oh this is way different than

[02:03:19] i was expecting it to be like the battle system was fun like yeah getting like rotation stuff it's really

[02:03:24] yeah it's really neat and like the the more you play it the more rewarding it is and i don't know if

[02:03:33] there's another game like that in this series where the more you play and i mean like i'm not talking

[02:03:40] about like oh the more you play this 80 hour game no fuck no the more you play this entire franchise

[02:03:47] of like this is a separate entity of final fantasy as far as i'm concerned because each one of those

[02:03:53] games and i call them games i call them games they're not expansions to me they're games a realm reborn

[02:05:46] dragoon aka floor tank or you can switch up to a white mage or a blue mage or a red mage or whatever

[02:05:55] and change on the fly before you go into anything you could play any character you wanted to so you

[02:06:02] were just you were never committed to something because you could be like you know i don't want

[02:06:11] could do all of that stuff all in the same game and then you could go fishing and go fucking crafting

[02:07:50] dungeons like i i played guild wars 2 for quite a while and i like guild wars 2 but it's taken them

[02:07:54] like years years to come up with a new dungeon i think there's like six in the game total

[02:07:59] how many dungeons does final fantasy 14 have shit dozens dozens of them we were watching
