[00:00:00] Welcome back, Superstars. My name is Aaron. I still can't believe it's not butter. And you're listening to SuperPod Saga!

[00:00:11] Hello, yes, welcome back. I am your host Aaron. Copa Squad have a seat sit on down. Hey, this is SuperPod Saga. Your favorite podcast and the whole wide world, no other podcast matter. Just this one. This is the only one. This is the podcast.

[00:00:35] Yeah, for any first time listeners, this is the podcast where each week we talked about a different video game topic with a different guest. And our topic today, we're talking about games that we think are perfect, but let's introduce our mystery guests. Ooh, let's uh... Oh yeah!

[00:00:56] Throw what a loser in there. First off, we've got Gerry from Super Ghost Radio and the greatest collaboration of all time. Rachel, we have hello. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Let me throw another week you see here, we'll first.

[00:01:11] How are things Gerry? How is that grill, by the way? You are talking about my teeth because I did get a new grill for the listeners out there. You probably can't see it, but I did install two platinum teeth and three gold.

[00:01:26] So it's it's it's it's lopsided, so like it doesn't actually it's not symmetrical in my mouth. So it looks kind of stupid, but you know, do you have platinum teeth? I don't think so. So grill's looking good.

[00:01:39] I wish I did. And then the barbecue that I was fixing up this morning. Like grill, what the hell is that? No, sorry, go ahead. Look beautiful though.

[00:01:54] I'm sorry, please. Jerren, go ahead and for the listeners if they haven't already heard of you or your show, God forbid, go ahead and tell them where they can find. Find you when you're show and we'll game, see why. Maybe you're your favorite.

[00:02:06] I don't know. Your favorite soda favorite favorite favorite sex position is usually. We should be in versus inverse cowgirl and no inverse cowgirl. Though I should though. I'm afraid to actually, I don't know what that means or if it exists.

[00:02:27] But no, I'm Jerry from Supergirl's radio and you can get that on all your favorite podcast platforms. And I'm also one half of the greatest collaboration of all time on retro rehab. And you can get that on all your favorite podcasting platforms as well.

[00:02:46] Great show recommended heard her. And that's pretty cool. And then was definitely on. He was there man. And we made two jokes about tattooing things on our chest to them. We're unhinged. Poor Vim. We're a film. Miss you already, bud. Speaking of rip. Our second mystery guest.

[00:03:12] It's the man, the bit, the legend himself. Hey, it's Tommy. Hey, I'm back from the dead. Hello. How are you? Tommy? How are our things? How was the cyber space and all that? I'm doing well. I'm doing very good. Cyber space is treating me kind.

[00:03:31] Things are going good for me. It's like I'm back in my hometown, but everything's different. You're using a different podcasting software. I'm very uncomfortable. Maybe next time we can record with us and cast her in the back arcade area of the pizza ranch in Hayward.

[00:03:50] They can feel home. No, no. We need to go all the way back where I just record my screen and then take that and convert it into audio. Oh, yeah. You actually used to do that. Yeah, that's how we started. Oh my god.

[00:04:05] Tommy, can you send me that audio file so I can edit the episode and feel like yeah, give me about two hours. So I can convert it into a pizza. I used to record inside of my walking closet and it felt ridiculous. Hell yeah. The sound's cozy.

[00:04:22] It wasn't. It wasn't a very big walking closet. One step walk. Yeah, it was bad. Well, Tommy, do you have any I think you'd like to plug here? You want to talk about maybe your favorite soda or something? Um, I work at a bank. I'm the operation specialist.

[00:04:40] So if you have any banking needs in the Midwest, your page out there will take your money. Um, I had a YouTube channel that I haven't uploaded in in two years. So if you want to check out amateur hour gaming on YouTube, I don't upload it anymore.

[00:04:56] I have no plans to make more videos, but it's there. Oh, yeah. Yeah, and Tommy, if you haven't already figured it out, he's Judge Brad in a discord of big, like a million jokes. Uh, yes, Tommy. Oh my gosh.

[00:05:11] I hope people know it's me otherwise I'd be really hard on you. Yeah, that's, let's Tommy and Jerry. Uh, we do not have a discord or discord Q and A to do this time around because we'll first of all, it's as a recording. It's Cinco de Mayo boys.

[00:05:29] Hey, No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I should have put that in Sanford. Fuck. Dang it. This opportunity. You should just play the Sam, Samba de Amigo team. So I'm about there. Oh, me. Yeah, that'd be good one.

[00:05:45] At least now they doubt everyone. Not shows, not be that or whatever tub. We said, or just play play that Ramstein song Take Yara Putta. That's a, that's a Ramstein song. Yeah, it's good to school. That's cool. Yeah, it means I love you bitch.

[00:06:06] Beautiful poem at like even. That's what they're known for. Well, yeah, this is, well, this is special occasion not only because it's Cinco de Mayo. The most holiest of days, the Lord's Day. It is also super pod. So I guess 100 episode. Woo, yeah, made it. Oh, yeah.

[00:06:27] Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Giving you a soundboard was the most dangerous thing that could have ever happened. It's like giving me a gun except way worse. At least the gun you could have saved way worse. Or lock it up. That's your plan of gun cabinet.

[00:06:49] Oh, yeah, so, so up so 100. Woo, we did it. Woo, we did a hundred episodes. Me specifically, I did it. Yeah, yep, Tommy. You're the whole ride. So for the, for the first little bit of this episode, I thought we would just kind of lean,

[00:07:06] lean our seats back and we'll put our arms and feet up and just kind of reminisce about. Well, the history of super pod saga would have been through, you know, left the fight with cell was fucking brutal. The Amber Hurd, Johnny Depkase.

[00:07:19] I'm just kidding, we didn't have anything to do with any of that. Memories. Yeah, when this started though, I was actually unemployed. So I had like all the time in the world to record and edit and plan stuff. And that was up.

[00:07:33] That was the boom time when we can you, we started with like zero followers, zero anything. And it's crazy to be where it's at now. I'm very happy with that. Yeah, it's it's really insane man.

[00:07:46] It's uh, I've been through like maybe six different likes this whole, like little journey. Mm-hmm. I think when we started, I just used my Xbox headset and I recorded through my phone. And it sounded like like, like, ass in the trailer episode. Which is still up.

[00:08:00] I feel so bad for that. I feel so bad for people listening to that because they're going to be like, this is trash. This is trash. I do the same thing to with super goes like,

[00:08:07] I go back and I listen to like the first few episodes and I'm like, Oh, don't you know what? When when you start this show, don't like start that like the new, was don't even listen to the old. Yeah, exactly. Because it sounds bad. Yeah, morning.

[00:08:23] This sounds like butthole. Um, yeah, I think shortly after we recorded the trailer, I think that's when I got my laptop. Or maybe it was after episode one. Um, got a laptop, got a lapel mic, that also sucked ass. Uh, I got another mic after that,

[00:08:43] which also sucked ass and now I'm at the mic. I have now. Ooh, I actually sound good. Ooh, you do. Yeah. I can hear the emotion in your voice. Ooh, what little there is. Do you remember one of our first major Twitter fans?

[00:08:59] I don't want to say his name. Because I looked in his account still exists. Was it like, did he was the stalker? What? Early on, like there was one person that commented on all our stuff. And then after a couple months message to you about the fan

[00:09:14] getting more Twitter followers. Oh yeah. He was like, oh, I could get you so many more followers if you let me, you know, like the put the porn bots on your account or something. Like what? You're going to bunch of porn followers.

[00:09:27] So the boost I was like, hey, I've got a collection of porn bot followers if you guys want to up your follower account. And we were like, no thank you and he was like, okay. Well, just so you know, like, I'm going to stop talking

[00:09:38] you guys then if that's the case. What? Pretty much. I, you know, you don't want this porn. They get the fuck out. And I think he follows the show on threads, threads or Instagram or something and like, you used to post funny shit every so often.

[00:09:56] But now it's just like about him and like, check us LeBocchi or the fuck use from, I don't remember. Do you want porn bot? Then I will leave. Go up there. It was so depressing because I was like, our one fan early on

[00:10:16] there was always there for us and he's like, I've brought porn bots. I have a white selection of porn bots for you. Please. I will sell to you at smooth price. Oh my fuck, God. Do you did that? We, we had to record.

[00:10:33] We had to rerecord episode two. I think like three times. Did he invade it with no. So crazy Craig. Craig was just an asshole. Oh my gosh, Craig. I forgot about Craig. That was a complete asshole. There's so cool time because you were just like Craig star

[00:10:50] recording and then he's now recording. We're going to the fuck you said, Yeah, I hate that thing. It's so, it's so jarring. And it's like, it sounds like something that you would hear on like a Cody set up that someone's really proud of

[00:11:04] like their Cody server thing like and we like starting recording and it has like that really robotic voice. And it sounds so fucking stupid. They're really those dude. But no, no. Craig's never done me dirty though. Oh, we had tons of problems. He would always just drop out.

[00:11:21] I think it might have been just my internet connection or something but he would we'd be done and then we'd look at what it had recorded and it like cut off 10 minutes in. Also for anybody that doesn't know what Craig is. We're not talking about a pro.

[00:11:35] Oh yeah. Yeah. Craig is a bot. It's not a porn spot. It's not like Tommy's fucking second hand cousin or something. That's just like, Oh yeah. I wish it. Yeah, Craig is recording by this chord. Oh fuck. What else is there, man? We didn't always have guests.

[00:12:09] Guess what's something that started later on and I am very impressed that like 95% of the guests are super cool and fun and like opt like positive about video games because I know that there are some podcasts out there where there's constant negativity and bashing stuff.

[00:12:27] Shout out to anyone who's guessed it on the show. It literally wouldn't be here without you guys too. Yeah, that's me. That's me. Yeah, Jerry. Jerry. We've had a lot of returning guests that come on the show and I'm glad that the that super pot saga has retained.

[00:12:43] It's like games are fun. Like positive attitude. I fucking despise and people come on and they're like, I guess I'm much too tough. Yeah. Like unless a topic is like, you know, disappointing games or something that but yeah, there's like there's something different about like

[00:13:01] having some fun like we should have bay base kids. You know, it's not like we make that a lot like that. That's not our identity where we're like, you know what man? Like let me tell you how bay base kids did me dirty at this week alone.

[00:13:15] Like we're not like, we're not fucking talking about games and like content creators or anything like that. Yeah, and like we're the same way over on super ghost and even on retro rehab. Like on retro rehab, we should on games all the time.

[00:13:28] But like it's not that's not what it's about. It's all the majority of the shows that we're all kind of like intertwined with within this podcast community. Like none of them really like have this thing world.

[00:13:44] It's like, come on our show and just talk shit about other things. Yeah. Yeah. When we did the Pokemon episode, which I was like one of the longest ones we recorded at the time because we were idiots and we're like, let's talk about every single Pokemon game.

[00:13:57] It got to the point where we got to Scarlett and Violet and I just started yelling. And it was a, I felt bad afterwards but I was like, but it needed to be said. And we also like built up the other Pokemon games too.

[00:14:10] It was like a comparison, you know? Like you can talk bad about something to show that other things are good. It's not our fault. Don't give me wrong. I love shit none bad games. Yeah. And I don't make that the focal point of the content because

[00:14:23] I feel like shitting on stuff is funny in the right like contacts and moment. But like if you make everything about that, it just kind of gets boring. Yeah. Yes. I agree with you. I agree with you, Cherry. I mean, AVGN did all of that like decades ago.

[00:14:42] Yeah. Which it's funny. It's almost like it's a weird like appreciation thing. Like he is shitting so hard and heavy on fucking Dr. Jackal and Mr. Hyde. But like I'm sure that was like an nostalgic thing for him too.

[00:14:57] Like he grew up hating that game but like at the same time, like revisiting that game. I mean, I could revisit fucking Bubsy 2 right now and be like, yeah, I rented this all the time as a kid. Is this a good game? Absolutely not.

[00:15:11] But I mean, I still have like this nostalgia for it. Oh man. I am. I've been looking through our episodes a little bit here and there. We had our first guest on episode. I'm going to find it again. Episode 9. We had Grant. Who we, yeah.

[00:15:31] I don't know if that counts. We went to high school with Grant. He's cool guy. Yeah. Let's see. Then there was episode 14 with with Nova. My brother and law who's also in the room for your tier list. That's a good one.

[00:15:47] And then let me go to about a minute. And then I'm going to go about episode 19. And that's actually no way, hang on. Is that when you had Trump on? I fucking wish. I think super pot really blew up then. See, October 27th. Yeah. That episode 19 canceled games.

[00:16:10] That's where it went on. Like kind of a hiatus for a little bit because, uh, Yeah, Tomy started his new job. Time was a, was a big factor there. Yeah, it's crazy.

[00:16:20] You know, going from not having a job to having a job really cuts into your free time. Got the ob jobs. When was that episode where the guest started? What date was that with like episode 9 or no the next one? Let's see.

[00:16:37] So after episode 19 we took a break. Episode 19 came out October 27th. Then the next episode after that, which was still just being new actually was here. Okay, that's how I thought. There we had a, so we could break from October 27th to November 12th.

[00:16:56] We recorded an episode and from November 12th to December 1st. We got another episode out. And that's when I was like, hey, I should just start doing some solo episodes of guests. And then on and Bill, give me an collective bill or our first like,

[00:17:12] I guess you could say, gaming podcast or guest because Grant is a podcast or two. Yeah. Yeah. And that was around the time of the big tweet. Oh, well, change the true member. I remember the big tweet. I remember that.

[00:17:28] January 15th, 2023 is when I sent that out for those who aren't aware. I tweeted what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know. And it changed the trajectory of life on earth forever. That's so insane.

[00:17:41] It's funny too because like I remember like I was, I was talking with you guys. Because I got invited to the podcasting discord. Oh, yeah. And I knew you guys and like, you know, everybody was kind of like shooting out collaboration opportunities and stuff.

[00:18:01] And like we, I think we were only like maybe a year in at that point. And I connected with, I don't know who was on the other end. Whether it was Aaron or Tommy, but it was probably me. It was always Aaron.

[00:18:13] So I like, I remember like, follow, like, I started following. We followed each other on Twitter and stuff. And then like, I messaged you guys on Twitter. And I was like, we should totally do an episode together sometime. We're like, yeah, sure. That sounds good.

[00:18:28] And then I remember like not long after that, maybe like a month or two is when that tweet hit. And you guys said that like your inbox was just like, When a collab on a collab on a collab on a collab like everybody then was like,

[00:18:40] Oh, I definitely want to collab now. Yeah, I'm sure. Now, yeah, I'm sure let's clap now. And that's when I was like, I got to make time for this to work now. I got to, people, these are happening.

[00:18:53] That, yeah, that's weed as of right now is viewed by 143 million people. God, there were articles written on Kotaku and PC gamer. We have a know your meme page. That's true. That's, that's when you know you've hit it big. Yeah, that's insane.

[00:19:11] That's just, just know that I loved you guys when you were poor before. Yeah, you're in this form. I think, I think, Jerry, I think we, I think we started talking. I made a tweet about like, hey, I'm going to play every Kimco,

[00:19:25] Shidass, Ballsac RPG and remember quarter on YouTube and he were like, No joke, let's fuck it, do this. Yep. And then yeah, I came back. We kept having guests. We kept having fun times. Yeah, you can then I did, um, what is it?

[00:19:43] So I did one episode of Bill and then you and I managed to scrape ourselves together to do the favor games of 2022. And then I did another solo episode and then we had Jared on. It's talking about Pokemon. The rest as they say is history. Yeah.

[00:20:01] And then after, after trying for multiple years, my wife got pregnant and we're having her first baby and so I was like, I, I really am not going to have time. Yep. Yeah, man, what a wild. And yeah. Yeah.

[00:20:15] And I, I don't want to like, I apologize to the fans who miss me. I feel bad that like, I can't be there for them. But I know that Aaron and all the guests and everyone are doing such a good job by keeping it going.

[00:20:28] Like, that's one of the biggest fears I had when we started was like, what if we run out of things to talk about? What if we run out of the topic? And so the fact that there's been a continuous stream of good ideas

[00:20:38] of topics to talk about and then having good conversations with those as chefs kids. Yeah, what did, what did you guys like when you started Superpot saga? What was like the basis? Like, what was your initial intention for the show?

[00:20:53] Because like, what hours was was way different from what it is now? It was, um, we wanted episodes to be evergreen so that they weren't like, you wouldn't listen to them. Like, we didn't want any news.

[00:21:05] We didn't want any current events or anything like that because that's going to date your podcast. And I was going to come back to listen to a podcast from two years ago where they talk about as clever as the current happenings.

[00:21:15] So we wanted to just be a different topic every week that you can listen to at any time. Like, you can, you can still go back and listen to our favorite Nintendo week games. You can listen to that anytime you want.

[00:21:24] And always positive always championing good games and the good things that they do. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, hours was going to be a horror podcast. Oh wow. Oh, I can see that was super cool.

[00:21:35] Like we were going to, we were going to start focusing more so on like, um, like survival horror games and stuff. And then by the, like, as we were kind of like creating this idea because Greg and Beth weren't the original hosts with me.

[00:21:51] I wasn't even the original host of Supergirl's Radio. What the hell? Yeah. So I, I did a podcast with Sam who you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you. I'm on the, on the anti game of the year. Um, him and I have been friends since like 2015.

[00:22:09] We went to a fucking metal festival. Uh, me and my buddy D'Allo went to Montreal for heavy Montreal, which is a three day long metal festival. Damn. And we got to the hotel.

[00:22:20] We see these guys, like kind of like, huddled together and they're like talking and being like, what the fuck are we going to do? Like they don't have our, and we were like, what's up guys?

[00:22:28] Like because we could tell like they, we all had like fucking Michelle Gasherts and like god damn like dream theater shirts that shit on. And then like, you know, like, we knew they were metalheads and we were like, what's up?

[00:22:40] And they were like, oh, well, we just drove up from Rhode Island and we don't have a hotel room apparently. So we like bonded with them and Sam was one of those people in that group.

[00:22:49] And him and I just became friends and it was, it was crazy because he was already podcasting at that point because like people recognize, like someone recognized him. Like when we were down on the face of the people.

[00:22:59] I was like, hey, I know you from that YouTube channel. And I was like, what the fuck is going on? And then yeah, and I like always stayed in touch and then he wanted me to come on one of his

[00:23:10] shows and he liked doing it with me so much. He was like, man, we should do it like a podcast together sometime. And I was like, all right, let's fucking do it. So we started getting it going.

[00:23:20] He was the host of Super Ghost for like the first two or three episodes of thing. Yeah, it was like two or three episodes and then he got busy with his own. And I was like, well, fuck what do I do now?

[00:23:33] So I was like, Beth, you should hop on this podcast like for an episode and she's like, okay. So she hopped on for one of them and then I got her to come back from the next one and got Greg to join that one.

[00:23:45] And that one was episode four which was the one that we did on Final Fantasy 14 online. And that was kind of when it became what it was. Hell yeah. It's weird how podcasts initially start and how they are now like absolutely.

[00:24:00] You kind of evolve over time without even really knowing it, it's crazy. And I want people to know that the trajectory of Super Pod saga becoming as big as is.

[00:24:11] I gave most of that credit to Aaron because he was the one who was pushing for more stuff like the even like starting a discord or creating a YouTube channel. Just so many amazing ideas that I could not always help in. But that's okay.

[00:24:25] The reason of the inside joke of me not being real is because I was like that dad that was never around. Hold on, hold on. So Aaron would be like, yeah, Aaron would bring his school project. I'd be like, tell me, yeah, look, look at this.

[00:24:38] Isn't this neat? And I'm like, oh yeah, that's great. I'm not going to see you tell Sunday. So look at this macaroni art. I made God damn it. We could have had that for supper. No, no, I'm watching my stories. So it's just cracking up.

[00:24:56] I'm just typing things into my bank computer. Like yeah, that's great Aaron. That's real great. We gotta get these numbers up. The money don't stop. The money don't stop. But like to be fair though when we first started,

[00:25:08] it was I'm pretty sure it was you doing everything like you did. You did the initial cover art, which is still like awful. Still awesome. What do you tell? So it's my face and Tommy's face. You both have mustache. It's like a green background. This is so super.

[00:25:23] Oh my gosh. That's so good. Do you remember our first intro music? I, oh, the Tetris stuff. Yeah, because that is like Tetris in the public domain. I'll just make a fun little electronic remix of it, not knowing how to do anything with music.

[00:25:37] So I just wanted some website and tried like placing blocks on a line thing and I was like, this is impossible. Yeah. Oh, we still used it anyway. Oh my god. I would love to hear that.

[00:25:51] I should go back and try to like, what do we change it out of the old at the so? I don't remember. I think I did choose really bad. It was like just picture of being like that. Like as best you can possibly get to the Tetris theme,

[00:26:02] but it's not actually the Tetris theme. No, it was like a couple of notes that match the Tetris theme. And it's like not even the right like sink or like pay. So I was like, dude. Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. I remember for a couple of them.

[00:26:17] It was more like, you was like dude, dude, dude, with like heavy echoes like dude. Dude, dude, dude, dude. Do it. Do it. Do it. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. That sounds like the music from Wario land.

[00:26:39] It's like Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan. Oh man, they're for like the longest. Tommy up until he left, he's always kind of like been the main host. Don't do it in the whole, Hey, Super Pod saga.

[00:26:57] And then there would always be parts where you would like try to let me talk and I don't I'd never do what to say, so I'd just be like, yay! But we, yeah, I'm eventually a good one. I love hosting, I love hosting and talking to people.

[00:27:13] Having guest on was initially scary to me because they were complete wildcards, complete unknowns. Before we did the podcast many years ago, I had a website, website, slash podcast where I interviewed viewed game developers.

[00:27:27] And that was easy, because I was like, I can just ask them about their game and stuff. But when you had that guest on, I was like, we can, yeah, we were really passionate about it. So I was like, yeah, let's do it.

[00:27:35] But I, inside I was like, this could go really bad. It is kind of crazy. And like, I feel like you probably can relate to this, but we've been really lucky that pretty much every single person that either I've guessed it on, where we've had on our shows.

[00:27:49] Usually it's like, really good. Like it's almost like you've been lucky out in a, like, oh, this person's not a piece of shit. Yeah, I loved getting the, my favorite part was getting insight into things that Aaron and I didn't experience.

[00:28:05] Like our arcade episode, we grew up in rural Midwest where our only arcade was in a pizza ranch and our guest grew up in the 80s in California. So he experienced like the height of actual arcade stuff and being able to hear those stories and stuff as wild.

[00:28:20] We did that one episode with Harrison from Grief burrito. And he talked about all the goofy stuff they have in the UK like CX, the sex store. It's not actually like a sex stores video game store called CX and that was just hilarious to us.

[00:28:39] We just could not shut the fuck up. Most annoying Americans. Yeah, do that was also. I think us getting guests on our show because we like we went many, many shows without any guests whatsoever.

[00:28:54] And I think it was when I started actually like talking to you guys and I started listening to like soup problem, like it's got to get fucking guests on all the time. Like maybe like are we supposed to be doing this? Like, but is this like the standard?

[00:29:04] I don't even know like what are we supposed to be doing here? So then I was like fuck it.

[00:29:08] I'll just start reaching out to people and that's, I think I'm pretty sure that listening to you guys get guests on was kind of the catalyst for us starting to reach out and actually have guests on our show. That's awesome. Yeah, you're welcome.

[00:29:22] I'll take a little royalty chance now. Yeah, so we can pull these and so back back in the day Tommy did everything he did the recording, he did editing, he did the initial thumbnail. He did he made all the social media accounts, the Gmail, he made everything.

[00:29:41] So I was like, please, the bad texture steam. Yeah, I laid the foundations and I had like the plan for everything like this, I like the business things like we're going to do. These things like we're going to do this so that we're not like this and stuff.

[00:29:54] Aaron took those the foundation and he built the house. I was like, please, Tommy could I please do something and you're like, no, no, I got it. But I was very possessive. I'm sorry. So don't you think?

[00:30:09] I think I started doing thumbnails and like, and that's like the one thing I did and then you did everything. And then you were like, oh, fuck it time for this shit. And then it was like, okay, well, I'll let it and then the end. Yeah.

[00:30:23] Because of the this podcast, I played more scary games in my life than I ever had before. I played an hour of alien isolation, which is horrible. And I played that PlayStation 1 game, which made me scream. That was PlayStation 2. PlayStation 1? PlayStation 2. It was do a siren.

[00:30:39] He played siren. Oh, my God. So like that's you went in the deep end. You dove head furt like you became a paraplegic fucking survival horror player because like that's you dove in the shallow end man had first. Yeah, I know. Yeah, I know. So siren is crazy.

[00:30:56] Dude, that's like, I threw that out recently. And I was like, wow, this game makes me feel uncomfortable. Really fast. We did. When Tommy was still doing his, um, his like door dash thing or is it grab hub? I don't remember what's the door dash. Sorry, grab hub.

[00:31:15] Sox. We, we, we're doing this thing where we were like, do we should do some YouTube game plays and like really pop the fuck off or something. And we each wrote like lists of games that the other should play.

[00:31:29] Tommy's list for me was that garbage fucking top gun. The fucking core of that. Top on for Game Boy. He need to specify this for Game Boy. Yeah, that's a good game boy. Yeah, they're good. Okay, boy, it's. Okay, no.

[00:31:46] If you haven't watched it yet, you need to go watch Aaron quote unquote play MLB 99 because when he first selected teams, he didn't select a team. So it was just the computer's playing each other but he thought he was playing.

[00:31:58] He thought he was playing the whole time but he was like, that's like you're cool. Like, when your little brother cousin comes over and you're like, yeah man, you could totally play a super dependent with me and you unplug the controller.

[00:32:09] roller. Oh my god he was so confident and he was one of the teams too. He didn't even know his team. I'll be the fucking tweet that out. Oh my god. The best thing I've ever seen in the need. I'd be played no one can stop Mr.

[00:32:24] Domino. That's my favorite fucking video ever. Bad topic this go. You're like, hey everyone fat Tony's casino. Because that's the loading screen where's his fat Tony's casino every single times. I'm like, hey we're back at Fat Tony's casino. You just freak it out.

[00:32:40] I didn't know how to play because I didn't have a manual or anything. You were just like stop. Stop. Just fucking freak it out. No one stopped Mr. Domino. No one gets

[00:32:52] that Mr. Domino. He can't stop me. Oh. But yeah, what am I against for Tommy was I'm surprised he got the fuck running but Simon on PS2. Yeah, that was awful. It's great. It wasn't

[00:33:08] even like a thing that made me screened the most was just turning around and seeing a person there. It wasn't a scary thing. If I just wasn't expecting them to be there so

[00:33:15] maybe screened or the part of the part where you're like, how do you behind the car? And the yummy veto where the fuck their coldies like come out and you're like, no. Mr.

[00:33:30] Yummy veto. But also fuck top gun on GB. Yeah, it's a jet fighter game on Game Boy. I don't think that video ever came out because I couldn't figure out how OBS worked

[00:33:40] and like I just didn't want to play that game for the fourth time. I think you talked about that game on the anti game of the year actually. I do all the time. Do it. It's terrible. I think you nominated it for something. Probably speaking. You know, you

[00:33:55] will first. I would say I probably nominated for games that I would rather beat my face and with a brick rather than playing them. I don't know. I'll go ahead to Tommy's head

[00:34:04] and make any sense. Speaking of Game of the Year, when I've listened to podcasts like, yeah, oh yeah. Every day for like the past decade. And my favorite time of the year is the

[00:34:17] game of the year podcast. I just love spending dozens of hours. So when it came to us, I was like, we're going to have Game of the Year podcast. So I spend my whole year keeping

[00:34:26] track of my list of games and like going over where what should be placed where like I get really into it. And then we recorded the episode. And that was like one of the

[00:34:35] least listened to episodes of the year. Yeah. It's like, oh man, isn't it funny? How like you'll be you'll think like, oh man, I got a fucking awesome idea for an episode. This was this was going to break the fucking internet people got tuned into this when you're

[00:34:50] like, for listens really put our hearts to soul. And then you'll do one that you're like, yeah, I felt kind of off today. Like, I don't think the jokes were very good. Like, this

[00:34:59] wasn't that fun. It was and then you looking like we got, this is our top performing episode with the fuck is going on. Yes. So we do. Dude, I, so I did an episode with two, two of

[00:35:13] the fine ladies from opinionated Lushes about totally made up simulators. And I was like, this episode, like this is it. Like, this is the best idea I've ever had. Is it a great

[00:35:24] idea? And then like it got less listens than then this, the Mario Luigi series, it didn't perform. I mean, it still did well but it wasn't as well as like this the other episodes

[00:35:36] before, which was so hard. That was that was the episode that I was like mostly disappointed that I couldn't be on because I was like, I've got so many fun ideas to study out to hear me talk about playlist birds simulator. Speaking of, I like even though

[00:35:55] I'm not on the podcast anymore, I still have access to all the social media and stuff. So I'm constantly like looking at Aaron messaging people for the show, they're going

[00:36:03] to talk about oh yeah, I still post on the Twitter from time to time too. I've got a good one coming up for one paper Mario comes out. So look forward to that everyone. This is

[00:36:15] gonna come out June bro. It's gonna go out. It's just gonna make it all the better. Another one, another one that I thought was like, what's gonna do way better but like

[00:36:27] still did all right was the rare games one where I was like, ooh we're gonna fuck and break the internet with this so we're gonna turn about games that are rare games made by rare

[00:36:35] and then people were like, we're so fucking clever people were like, no people are like, I don't go. I'm not sure if it's still the case but the least listen to one was

[00:36:50] the one with grant on it for a long time, which is always hilarious. Okay, you guys want me on the show again. I can't I was like after that episode we had not a chain. I think

[00:36:58] fucking nuts. I'm gonna look up the episode rankings right now and see which one is dead fucking last video game card games is the least we'll know that in the video game side kicks with

[00:37:13] Nova. Those are both tied at 32 and then Wolf grants is at 37 it's got five more. It's really funny that card games is one of the least listen to one since that's like the thing where most passionate about. I

[00:37:26] know fucking when every now and again day from tales of the backlog he'll ping me in something on his server he'll be like, hey card games sick or right here and I'll be like that's me card games

[00:37:39] and then yeah people to be playing it. I'm playing a world war two card game right now I love it that's how off the deep end. Oh yeah. I also found that there's certain things too like certain

[00:37:58] like survival anything to do with horror for some reason does good. I don't know what it is that's true. Every time we've done anything to do with horror or covered anything horror based

[00:38:08] it just gets ate up like immediately and I don't know like we've done like episodes on like Mario stuff and it's like man Mario fucking everybody's gonna listen to it. No,

[00:38:23] Mario won't give a shit no one gives a shit but the episode that we did about Final Fantasy 14 online Jesus Christ like I didn't realize that everybody wanted to hear us just talk about

[00:38:38] role playing at a at a fake nightclub in the world of life and medieval nights. Aaron I have a question coming from a from a listener to the podcast yes. I've always been curious about this because I'm not as into the discord as you are

[00:38:56] I try and hop in every once in a while it's kind of overwhelming but like is and Jerry you could probably answer this too. Are there just like a bunch of discord for different podcasts or

[00:39:06] is like is there okay I didn't know if like people were just on the super pod saga one or their bouncing around everywhere because I'm not a part of all these discord. I we tried to

[00:39:16] do a discord for super ghost and between editing the show and like hosting the show and doing all the social media and stuff I was like I'm fucking time for this. It's weird like

[00:39:29] it's no way I have time to maintain this like this is a full-time fucking job just going in and like even just like I think the hardest part about the discord is creating the community itself

[00:39:42] like having having something enough in that discord to make somebody go all I want to I want to join this I don't want to stay in here because like I'm part of a lot of different

[00:39:52] discord and most of them are muted besides like the super pod one the mrfpga one the indie podcasters like the co-op podcast network like most of them are muted just because like there's so many notifications and I know that you could like turn on other stuff and

[00:40:12] I just kind of pop in and out of the other ones intermittently just to kind of like see what's going on but yeah I don't know man it's it's crazy how much work goes into a getting us enough

[00:40:25] people that even consider a discord of discord not just like a fucking basically a group chat server with memes like and just building the community and maintaining it that it's it's wild so

[00:40:40] yeah you can check out the super ghost discord over on discord and it's a fucking ghost down you even just say that I'm like I don't even know how to find a discord to join

[00:40:52] what's it? that's how to touch I am with him. yeah and that's the scary part too about about having discord because I would be again all the props to Aaron for all the work he puts in

[00:41:02] because I would be terrified that I like take two days off and just be like I just want a little bit of and then everyone leaves. there have been a couple times where I've thought about just like

[00:41:14] maybe taking a week off from editing and recording and stuff like that but that usually got me like a couple of a bit of a sobs in the tank and it's like if I need to

[00:41:23] I'll just take a break from recording but we usually what our thing has been which has been kind of nice actually we go right up until like basically like Christmas break and then we take like

[00:41:36] our holiday hiatus until like February when we come back and like we'll have some stuff pre-recorded to release in February but it usually ends with like game of the year stuff

[00:41:48] and then the new year starts with because we do our fantasy critic so we do our fantasy critic thing we're like we tall up who won that year and then we punish the person who lost you guys play live scorpion no it's not fucking fear factor factor

[00:42:09] the effect of Joe Rogan. I was a fear factory but yeah I kind of a couple years ago is like why don't we just like take a little crisp like a holiday treat you know Christmas break and it's been it's kind of nice because then

[00:42:28] we have everything kind of done prior and we could just kind of kick back more so me because I do all the editing and stuff try it try it sometime oh yeah this is gonna get very old by the end

[00:42:44] no I yeah I'm considering doing that like um right now I'm cram jamming in a bunch of recordings to build a bad blog and then yeah then eventually I'd jury and I are gonna cram jam some uh

[00:42:56] our way for a show yeah I don't think my wife would be too impressed about that shit what was I like so oh yeah the um yeah maintaining all this stuff is kind of yeah it's

[00:43:12] it's kind of exhausting like I'm not on Twitter as much as I used to be like I used to be on Twitter all the fucking time but now it's just like my brain hurts sometimes like I'll be

[00:43:22] barely on discord too like I'll slap in a new episode and then I'll be fucking dawn with it for you ever like a couple days host something to threads and then immediately go why did I post this

[00:43:32] here all the time the threads fucking sucks man it's such a like I like I forgot who it was that came on the show one time we were talking about threads and he was like that's the most like

[00:43:43] screaming into the void app ever yeah yeah no kidding it's like that episode of SpongeBob we're Squidward went so far forward in time there was nothing and he was just like oh like that's that's

[00:43:55] threads bro that's thread yeah it's just a vid it's so annoying because all these ones are starting upwards like this is gonna be the one this is the one that everyone's gonna go to whether it was

[00:44:04] blue sky or threads those are only talking really think up but I was like oh man we got to get in here at the ground floor so that we're out there right away and then it's just nothing but we

[00:44:12] did that with master dawn we just got it oh my gosh master yeah forgot about that it was hard okay like very hard okay hive was all right uh hi the sub stack I didn't use it so I don't know

[00:44:27] I still have a sub stack that's definitely not what we were in looking for though that's not for us did you guys ever get to get your stuff on truth social what is that now we did not we did not

[00:44:38] all we had a tumbler good tumbler probably what is good that's good what is it called truth social I'm gonna look it up because that's my thing yeah man just are posting

[00:44:52] the sub-bod links on there oh fuck sure everybody else enjoying that on there truth social it's just a free speech social media app what's the joke it's uh it's it owned if I

[00:45:08] I think there's that a different one no yeah like it is oh it's just team media okay okay all right all right let's reel it in boys I don't want to be on any social media that my parents are on

[00:45:26] I have a hard time just being on Facebook sometimes you're like accidentally get on Facebook what do you want here why why am I doing this and then if like then you realize you're like

[00:45:35] these memes are pretty good but I don't want to admit that I got it from Facebook because it's like that I feel like that just dates me or something and then like I'll send a meme to somebody

[00:45:47] I'm like I totally got this from right it by the way this paper is actually I was throwing through Facebook while waiting for Aaron to send me the link for the first time and forever

[00:45:59] I'm gonna not Facebook and so long as I like oh look someone had a baby okay there's not a baby here's another one okay what's in the museum I don't know it's up times like when I'm really

[00:46:10] really bored I'll hop on Facebook because I'm I'm in a lot of shit post groups at Facebook you yeah you Aaron yeah my favorite page at all of Facebook is just called Tito that's Tito for

[00:46:23] Rocket Power but it's just like arch over so each post is just like a jpeg of Tito it's like stupid situation like there's this overarching story to it like the last I miss that

[00:46:37] I miss when the internet was like that it still is the last one hold on the last one from April late says Aloha I started at the sun too long before their brothers said his head

[00:46:47] shrink my there's my go ahead I want to I want to shut the fuck up about Tito I was gonna say that like with Facebook I just find it so ridiculous how like it's just mostly people from like

[00:47:04] my high school and it'll just be like a picture of them like laying on the couch with their kids it'd just be like just laying down it's like yeah thanks Bradley I don't know what I would have

[00:47:14] done today if I didn't really work just like my favorite thing is my wife follows the podcast up even though she doesn't ever listen to it and everyone so I'll show me something that you post

[00:47:27] in a thick way is this like just apparently I have to go so many layers deep to explain it's oh god it'd be like me with those fucking ba-ha blast mango fucking Doritos that are terrible

[00:47:39] by the way there's so bad well dude even even just like the the fucking art that you art that you make big air quotes anyway it's not so good but like when you you'll set you be like dude check out

[00:47:54] the thumbnail for this and it's just like why is this burger running out of an exploding building with like handguns in a sombrero you lie hold on you have to listen to it for to make sense there's

[00:48:09] there's a process this doesn't have as much as it used to but air and will message me and be like I can't think of anything for the thumbnail do you have any ideas and so I'll shoot him like two or three

[00:48:18] ideas and be like oh yeah that's good that's good and then I look at the thumbnail to get something nothing like what I describe never has been not even once I'm gonna put a story about like the

[00:48:29] one for the um the upcoming horror games episode that comes out tomorrow actually as of as of recording like check that one out tomorrow everyone so for this horror games episode thumbnail I was like

[00:48:42] I'm fucking stumped bro I don't know what the fuck to do so I messaged like three people and I got it's a pretty questionable uh recommendations uh but then I then I messaged

[00:48:54] uh shout out to Jamison from Bar of Silence I shoot ideas off him all the time and he was like do this and I was like oh bitch and then I messaged it to Jerry and uh yeah it's pretty pretty good

[00:49:07] yeah pretty bitch and I uh I I really enjoyed the the last episode that we did solo on on retro rehab it was just a man in the parking lot of a day's screaming at kids but the man

[00:49:23] that was screaming had just hour logo on his face and then the other kids just had like oh the Tendocapcom and uh and uh Konami logos just for their faces because it was the episode was just

[00:49:38] a screaming at those companies being like give us the games we won I had forgotten we were talking about thumbnails and I thought you were saying that your last episode you were talking with the

[00:49:49] guy screaming in a denny's parking lot and I was like whoa I gotta check this out. Oh man uh when uh when Tommy when Tommy first left the show um well first off so

[00:50:04] Tommy was supposed to be an episode 76 almost great games with the crusty boys but his internet flopped out roll hard oh that one that one that I felt so bad about that because my internet

[00:50:16] actually there have been times in the past where I have flaked on doing episodes for one reason or another and I obviously feel that about but this one like the internet actually dropped I was like I

[00:50:24] don't know what to do about this. The little kids you see flops uh that went through now pretty good uh but the first episode I actually did like on my own I planned like uh I guess without without

[00:50:40] Tommy was the licensed games episode with Jerry the man right there and uh and Jay from Superbracca Bros and man I I was like fuck I don't know if this show is gonna be able to continue with like just me

[00:50:52] and guess but we fucking home run to that fucking episode shit that was like a we grand slam that fucking the grand slam joke because Denny's Denny's grand slam yep dude what you know it's crazy

[00:51:06] I couldn't even tell you what I talked about in that episode I will record this one and like my wife was like where were you guys talking about today like I'm fucking no I have no idea like I immediately

[00:51:21] purgip from my brain and it's funny because like where I edit I'll list it back up and be like oh man we're really on our A game here and it was like from like fucking 24 hours ago and I'm like

[00:51:32] oh yeah I forgot that I said that like I don't remember half this shit I say I do that a lot too like uh in the last episode again horror games episode coming out tomorrow

[00:51:44] not tomorrow from when this episode airs but tomorrow tomorrow as of when we're recording uh uh you mean red fox we'll joke about spam a lot and uh oh yeah oh and I was there I forgot

[00:51:57] man we were out of the whole month the other day I was gonna take a fucking photo of the spam aisle but this one old lady wouldn't get the fuck out of there's a aisle there's a kind of

[00:52:07] pile of spam there's like a quarter of an aisle just for spam bro like the aisle of spam I'm doing a page really an island with like spam growing on trees and shit I lend you a

[00:56:35] oh Tommy where do you get your peg legs how do you feel about peg legs I feel very good about peg legs then they're super I say so I used to

[00:56:49] we just got a new table and chair set so I actually was able to not now randy you can have I've actually been taking the legs off of the tables and putting them on my legs to the peg legs sorry good

[00:57:08] it'd be nicer if there was somewhere else that would supply peg legs so I have to stop buying tables and chairs to replace the old ones do you know what me and my wife have been doing

[00:57:18] oh boy that's a big question here we go buckle up so what we do is in the bedroom she's been begging whoa let me peg you and I was like sure only if I can use those sturdy cocks as my legs oh

[00:57:37] it bored we have a sponsor for this episode oh shit it's rancher Dave's custom peg legs rancher Dave is all the best custom peg legs you could ever possibly dream of because

[00:57:57] they're custom you can give them your ideas I guess that's the joke if you want a peg leg that's in the shape of like a squid words tentacle leg you sure fucking can if you want a peg leg

[00:58:09] in the shape of a lot of a shabov a lava lamp go right on ahead brother if you want to peg leg in the shape of the island boy it's going forward I should have can I have a peg leg in

[00:58:20] the shape of Albert who holds baseball that the greatest baseball player oh man what were those other ones do you subit the other day oh fuck there was so crisp Milton Bradley baseball so cool it is I would love a couple

[00:58:42] of peg legs that look like the ifle tower and it would just be you know oh no it's like hooves yeah you get a peg leg is it the shape of like a goat's leg it's all like bent the wrong way

[00:58:55] to like a goat it's got a little who fun it oh I'm gonna be the walk you just be crawling with peg legs it would defeat the purpose and make you look stupid oh the peg leg this is a microphone

[00:59:07] so that when you're interviewing people you can just hold your leg up to their mouth take it off well faster like hey here I am live on live on location with whoever yeah dude I want to still forget

[00:59:23] don't forget the mic when you're walking oh here it's like feedback I want to I want to custom peg leg in the shape of like a bunch of like little kids wearing a trench coat so it's

[00:59:42] like a bunch of kids in a trench coat this supposed to look like a person but it's a leg I don't know man I'll just take a fucking like a sword like a blade for a peg like that be cool

[00:59:54] a couple of super scopes oh yeah a stack of Nintendo game cubes this is the perfect podcast this podcast has no flaws and if you want to go swimming with those peg legs there's a

[01:01:39] Jerry thank them man fucking thanks Dave okay now now time it needs to say we're back but like in the most 80s like news like way possible and we're back yes we are before we get

[01:02:06] to like like the the real I don't know me to the episode I guess there's been a lot of me at this episode before we get to what we're releasing is gonna talk about games that we think are perfect

[01:02:16] before we get to that though I mean there's a pretty big announcement pretty pretty big and honest biggest like the pepperoni peg leg thing but yeah big announcement um yeah I guess you're such a good host Aaron I don't know that I should have thought

[01:02:34] Aaron I heard there's a big announcement they let me tell you what there's a big announcement that announcement is Jerry's gonna be in the new co-host of Super Pot saga woooo! from here I am man wait what yeah I'm just kidding okay

[01:02:51] and now like going through the roll of the ex of his brain just be like did we talk about this davour? sorry god the mental and disports only messed it up Tommy about it I never messaged Jerry

[01:03:03] cancelled cancelled cancelled no super excited about this actually um and thank you Tommy for giving me your blessings of course you moto blessings like he's like that's the word I use I said I said I give my blessing that's how

[01:03:20] it works it's like you're guys are getting married oh he throws petals on me yeah yeah no sorry Aaron Aaron is my friend and he deserves the best and if he wants a co-host to help him on this journey

[01:03:37] then I am all for it oh shit oh yeah I mean it's time if you ever want if you ever if you ever have the time or the patience to put up with my fucking shit to come back onto the show

[01:03:51] door doors wide open mr me my my only requirement is that you never ever landed Jerry your copy of Pikmin for game fuck we mail it to me I only I'll only do that if you let me borrow your

[01:04:06] steam deck oh I sold that bitch long ago like I did with Pikmin yeah yeah doors wide open time you can come back on anytime you want I appreciate it it's been it's been a while taken

[01:04:21] advantage of that yeah yeah it's been a wild ride attempting to do this show on my own it's it's been greats but I just feel like it'd be cool to have a consistent co-host to about the joke's off of and Jerry

[01:04:33] and I as you might have already guessed this episode we're non-fucking stop between between fucking bachel man and Tommy like it's been a this episode has been I'm just getting it that's been great episode yeah that's it that's the episode they're not episode announcement

[01:04:53] that's it that's all there is yeah yeah yeah so so we're gonna talk about games that we think are perfect yeah I game oh game everybody one single game yep because we we talked about the show a lot

[01:05:07] and Jerry and I are getting married or something that's less or less it only makes sense it only makes me it's much a man to give the speech at the end and that's all he says and then walks

[01:05:20] off the stage could you imagine if he was the one marrying you like if he was the one doing your fucking beard like do you take this man now you're lawfully wedded oh I heard it's like my

[01:05:33] fucking throat um who wants to start man do I do I start since I'm technically the guest like it's so yeah okay um the whenever the question of the perfect video game comes up my first

[01:05:48] answer is always Tetris but that's not really a fun game to talk about on a podcast so I'm gonna try it um instead I'm going to pick uh oh shit I'm gonna pick I just had a second thought

[01:06:06] and I'm debating on which one say the post we'll go with red dead redemption the first one that's that's the perfect game for me I love red dead redemption too as well but I've been

[01:06:18] thinking about this a lot recently like I do I just I just sit at night in the shower thinking about red dead redemption nice and um I like red dead the first one more because it's more of a

[01:06:29] a time and place thing where you are just in this one singular area and going through the adventures in John Marston where red dead redemption too is much bigger it has way more areas and it

[01:06:40] never feels like you're a part of that area which is kind of part of what red dead redemption two does it's about the journey of the gang going places but I liked being in the world of red

[01:06:49] dead redemption one more and another thing that makes it so great in this is something that kind of is lost when you go back and play to it but at the time it had all these events and

[01:07:01] instances of things just happening in the world that didn't affect things like you would come across a person who was they were by like a there it was a woman who was with a husband who had just died or

[01:07:13] something and you just walk up to there and she kills herself and it's like nothing else there's no dialogue there's no nothing it's just a thing that happens in this world it really it really makes you

[01:07:21] feel like you're in this world and and I dare you to find a western game that has anything close to what red dead redemption offers it's a shame that we don't have more it's the perfect western

[01:07:31] game I think we've talked about that a lot too I forget which episode it was we talked about like like they should make a uh what was it it was like an open world wild west RPG you know it's crazy

[01:07:45] I was gonna say I'd never played red dead redemption or two or revolver none of them whoa yeah that's awesome is it like my should I drop on them? I love I love when people play like the most random

[01:07:58] entries in a series like my most played Kirby games are the the golf one the Dreamcores Dreamcores Dreamcores is it fucking fucks dude that's why oh it's awesome I love it amazing and then Kirby Tiltton

[01:08:11] Tumble I've never played any other Kirby games but those are the ones that play you need to play forgotten land it's perfect I made a side close to back go listen to that side close and

[01:08:19] they only Kirby games that you've ever played yeah that's it can just throw just play Dreamland on Gameboy today you could beat it in an hour just play it man come on I own a Gameboy oh yeah

[01:08:32] so we'll just do it there if you want to lend me a video game dog on due Dreamland I played Dreamland from start to finish through like a whole episode of a guys grocery games if I can do it

[01:08:45] so can you that's me yeah if you'll allow me the time I could quickly go get my second game that was they have to be a do MVP baseball 2005 oh boy if this is uh I want to go out with the back

[01:09:02] let me let me tell you the things that MVP baseball 2005 does that MLB the show doesn't do because they're cowards when you argue a call an MVP baseball 2005 there's a meter for how angry you can be

[01:09:15] they actually get to the umpire and argue the call oh like fuck mashing like yeah that's where this more angry more angry one when there's a hit to the outfield and you throw it to a base in MVP

[01:09:30] baseball 2005 you can hit the trigger button and then the cutoff guy catches the ball so you can quick it throw it throw it somewhere else that's something in real baseball but isn't an MLB the show

[01:09:40] a game in 2005 I love it right I don't know man let me I remember you talking a lot about MLB the show and all like all the cool RPG elements that has but then yeah it was it's right for

[01:09:55] the audience hold on hold on let me explain where MLB the show has gotten to at this point so back in the day the single player mode where you'd start in the miners and work your way up

[01:10:05] if you got a hit your hitting would go up if you threw the ball good your throwing would go up it was just like the skyrim thing I guess now in today's day and age they give you quests that

[01:10:15] you have to complete like get 20 hits against left handed batters when your shearings goes up and then you get loot boxes there's there's 20 different things you can get it's like armor for

[01:10:26] your character you can get batting gloves you can get shoes you can get socks you can get pants so you unlock these loot boxes that give you different quality it's like the from common to rare

[01:10:37] to et cetera for your baseball gloves and stuff and of course you can just pay money for the good stuff you can just buy the good stuff that's stupid or like go to their online platform and play against

[01:10:50] other people and and see all their cool stuff play the card game buy some card packs it's awful sounds awful yeah mcp baseball 2005 had many games where we're on the field they're like ramps

[01:11:04] and there are targets to hit the bottom they go off ramps and you could hit buses that were in the outfield to get you points what yeah so wait was it more arcadey it was both it was both

[01:11:16] at the same time I so here's the thing I fucking hate sports games unless they are arcadey feeling I would not say playing the game is arcadey but I did have fun stuff because I only just recently

[01:11:27] realized how god damn good beach spikers was like I'm serious like my buddy was like dude you got to see this fucking volleyball game and I was like volleyball why are you playing volleyball

[01:11:40] and he was like dude it's on game cube you like next time you come over I'm showing you this game it's fucking timed hits it gets intense and dude I played that thing and I couldn't put it down

[01:11:50] I could not stop playing beach spikers yeah good sports games are the best oh yeah but yeah it had a it had a franchise mode that you could play for a hundred years and uh

[01:12:02] you could set you could set the prices of hot dogs you could set the ticket prices mlb hot dogs sim oh yeah fucking god two for one it had everything and then two k sports

[01:12:16] had to come in and buy the mlb license so EA sports couldn't make anymore and then the series died crunching corrupt epic baseball game hey Jerry what's what was the game you think it's perfect that you could

[01:12:32] set the price of hot dogs can't set the price of hot dogs but it's funny that you mentioned Kirby because I always flip flop around a lot there's not a lot of like recent games

[01:12:43] that I can think of that are perfect like it's weird like as time goes on I'm just like there's a lot of old games that are perfect in my eyes and I don't know if that's just like some kind of

[01:12:52] I'm looking at things through roasted glasses but Kirby superstar in my opinion because of the game because yeah hey it's in my opinion it is the best Kirby game out of all the Kirby games

[01:13:06] it has an amazing soundtrack it's like at the time I remember going into a blockbuster and seeing that game case and it was like fucking nine Kirby games in one and I was like this is impossible

[01:13:21] there's no way they could fit nine Kirby games on one thing and it's cool how they do it it's like you could literally play Kirby's dreamland on that game like it's there you play Kirby's dreamland

[01:13:31] but then you unla as you beat the different games you unlock more so there's like Kirby's dreamland and then there was like the great cave offensive which was like that was crazy that was a fairly

[01:13:44] long thing and I had all these secrets that you could find these treasures and you could bring them up men a menu that would show you like if you've missed any or anything and like

[01:13:55] if you I think if you collected all of the treasure something something else happened but yeah like you're going through this like crazy cave there's lots of cool bosses and then you beat that one and then there's like this over-arking storyline going on with like meta night

[01:14:10] in like two different things and then you go to space it's fucking crazy you go to space and then you could unlock like these cool mini games oh and another thing that made this

[01:14:20] amazing for me growing up was it was fully co-op start to finish all you had to do was suck up an enemy and then get your ability by pressing down and then hit A and it would create

[01:14:34] either a CPU friend to help you or player two just starts controlling that character and from start to finish that game is co-op and then it also adds like a bunch of cool

[01:14:46] little leg multiplayer games where like there was one it was like a timing thing where like you're like samurai's and you have a way for like this thing to go and then whoever hit the

[01:14:56] button fast enough would win and then there was like it was like a race like it was like the agor me race or something yeah like it was jam packed full of stuff to play and I

[01:15:09] rented it once and I begged my parents to buy it for me like I had to own that game and sure enough I did I did own that game when I was going up and to this day I think that game is perfect and

[01:15:23] to kind of follow Tommy's formula I also have another game because I was flip flopping me yeah the other one that I was going to say is Super Mario RPG. That game is flawless but the original

[01:15:39] will remake. I mean you could say both really because the remake does such a good job of literally being the original game but just adding a little bit newer things to like the battle system

[01:15:56] like it's literally like the same trajectory that you you follow from the original. There's no difference in the story of the game or like the areas or anything like that it's literally

[01:16:07] the same game but they've added little tiny things but that original game for one thing it is it is the perfect RPG for even people that have never played in RPG because it is not a very long

[01:16:21] game which is good because you know sometimes people might be like oh RPGs aren't they like 50 hour games yeah I mean fucking persona 5 I think I finished that at like 112 hours and I didn't

[01:16:36] any side shit like nothing it was just like straight through this is the game like it was 100 it was like 100 and something hours so yeah like I get I can't commit to an RPG because they're long but

[01:16:49] not super Mario RPG that game is I think like maybe 15 to 20 out 20 hours if you're like really like doing some extra shit but it's like a 15 hour game and it's cool how they translated Mario for the

[01:17:05] first time to RPGs and it was only recently that this occurred to me because when you look at Mario RPG when you're on the world map like you're pretty much going from like level to level

[01:17:19] in that game there's no like open world to explore but that to like it I was this year when I clicked in my brain I was like but that's how Mario is you're going from point A to point A different

[01:17:31] levels and that's what this game is eventually you do a little bit of backtracking but again you're on a world map where you're going like to different spots and picking the level and

[01:17:43] you know if there's not really any like dungeons per se like there's there's areas but like it just feels like a Mario game that got turned into an RPG and it's literally that and the

[01:17:53] characters are fantastic like even the ones that they introduced that square mail cells like Malo, Gino, booster all those guys they all feel like they should be in the Mario universe like they belong

[01:18:06] within the Mario universe and like they even made like new Yoshi characters like like bo- Yoshi yeah bo- yeah um yeah it's just it's fantastic and that was the first game that I played

[01:18:19] that had timed hits. I don't know any other game that has timed hits like that for it's time I mean there's tons of ground but yeah like it's funny because for a long time I was always

[01:18:29] looking for games that had timed hits and they were few and far between there's not a lot. Even like some people would recommend like Final Fantasy 8 and I mean like what the fuck are you talking about

[01:18:41] it? I think it's like one I think Squall maybe is the only character that has timed hits with the gunblade but like I wanted something where it's like no no I want time hits across the board

[01:18:54] you know but I guess perfect there's nothing wrong with that game this is short sweet and a really fun RPG. I wish I had played that game back in the day because I

[01:19:05] I grew up on the Mario and Luigi games and going back to Mario RPG there was so much of it where I was like oh this is where that came from this is where the timed hits yeah and I was like oh they hum- like yeah

[01:19:17] I was like this is so neat yeah but it was tough to look at with my eyes what on on the super Nintendo mini onto like the 4k tv it's a little rough if it was on a CRT tv like it was meant to be

[01:19:34] you know what I mean where it sounds those edges that's that's why that's the whole whole figure about the Mr. Man it does it does that shit good scan lines scan lines baby gotta have those things scan lines speak in a perfect game my first one transition

[01:19:54] just like this podcast which is perfect in every single way there are no flaws to super pod saga I dare you to enable flaw you can't because it's perfect not enough tommy I mean fucking got me there shows over the final fantasy and I in this perfect it's

[01:20:12] it's my favorite game of all time nothing will ever top it there's just so much to the game that I love about it I'm not even just not just from like a nostalgia standpoint because it's

[01:20:24] the first game I've about my own money it's uh I think it's like one of the the first few games I played on on the PS1 back in the day but uh Final Fantasy 9 just has as the best cast of characters

[01:20:40] ever like of course the characters all look unique they play a different way essentially there's uh I guess two characters reach like archetype for the different characters like there's the four year mage and healer so you've got two mages two healers two warriors two thieves whatever

[01:20:58] but each character is so thoughtfully like they have their own little like story arcs where they can overcome their problems and they they develop very very well like like VV for example best character development of any fucking character in like any video game ever like I don't

[01:21:19] want to hide so many times at that game because of that poor little guy I know I know man not even like just not even just the end where he's like spoilers like it's not even just the end where he

[01:21:32] seems dead but like uh like toward like the beginning where you learn about black mages and how they are in a lot should um yeah even I mean quina I guess maybe isn't that interesting but

[01:21:47] but it's still kind of is I was always called her quinoa quinoa quina oh yeah the the combat is I mean a lot of final fantasy games feel slow like they they feel really fucking slow not just

[01:22:05] in like the encounter rates but also like the combat feeling slow but the combat and final fantasy nine it just it feels right like it feels quick you know it's got a good flow it does you get a

[01:22:16] character also like classic feeling you know like I think that's what makes it so special is that they went back to their roots yeah like that's another thing yeah yeah so like other

[01:22:26] final fantasy eight seven even like final fantasy three and shit like that you can make any character whatever you want make them overpowered give them like 14 different jobs you can

[01:22:37] you can have cloud be healer mage and whatever the fuck you want just give it whatever material you want final fantasy nine I love that they they have those baked in jobs like they they are what they

[01:22:48] are like Zidane is thief I go and dagger they're both white mages and there are some people that hate that for whatever reason but I think it's just fine I love it it makes them who they are makes

[01:23:03] them feel holy unique as opposed to say final fantasy three the actual final fantasy three where every character just feels fucking stale and bland they're just fucking faceless hollow drones I also think the the soundtrack to final fantasy nine is perfect all right love all the environments all

[01:23:21] the towns everything there's so many mini games there's a fucking dank as card game to touch our master everybody loves the one in fucking eight fuck you because touch our master is good

[01:23:36] all the enemy designs are really cool I think Kooja is a really fucking good final fantasy vanilla was hips yeah bodacious mother fucker I think he's stand he could he's just as good as like

[01:23:49] Kefka or Sephiroth or hurt the lady from eight Altamessa yeah yeah there we go I don't I don't understand one when people are like Kooja was a really like forgettable villain

[01:24:04] it's like did you play the same thing I did because yeah cool shit and I have I've said for years that final fantasy nine is also my favorite final fantasy and it still is I had a

[01:24:17] success in one of the new co-hosts theory well guess what the only final fantasy play game I've ever played for an extended time is final fantasy nine exactly because I was wondering you're going to

[01:24:26] just say some random one like final fantasy two I played a ton of nine and I really liked it and it was because Aaron's suggested it yep that's funny too because like I remember playing

[01:24:36] nine for the first time and I remember the like the graphics being so like good and like yeah just the just like the the nice speech bubbles and stuff and like the character sprites were like

[01:24:51] really well done like I found like in seven I mean everything just looks like fucking Lego blocks which I mean I mean I like the back of the day then eight came out and everybody were like

[01:25:01] fucking stick bugs with like emo hair like it just looks ridiculous but again I like final fantasy eight not as much as seven and certainly not as much as nine nine hit that perfect balance of like

[01:25:14] kind of going back to like that chunky style of like old school final fantasy characters from like the 16 bit era but like putting them in 32 bit on the PlayStation and I don't know it just it looks so so good like it even holds up today too like

[01:25:33] yes by throwing on the mister and I got those nice scale lines and shit I just like I don't try to add any smoothing or anything like that I want to see all the crispness because they did

[01:25:44] such a fantastic job on like the character design and even like Aaron like you were saying like oh yeah the fucking the environments and stuff too like yeah when you get to the black mage village

[01:25:57] like that whole design was like super interesting how it was like kind of up high and just even the like exploring the world map yeah that game that game is perfect man yeah

[01:26:07] yeah you you took the words right out of my mouth Jerry I was gonna say I didn't play it for the first time until three or four years ago and even then I was like how did they do this on a PlayStation

[01:26:16] this looks so good for a PlayStation game this is nuts another cool thing the game does that I really love is that each town feels totally unique not just in like the background music

[01:26:27] or just like the the buildings and shit like that but there's this different story for each town they go to my favorites condo payette he's all these uh I forget if they're goblins or whatever

[01:26:38] they're a little green dude they're dwarves they they just have these hilarious little speech patterns where I think they're supposed to be like Scottish sounding and then they have all their little rituals they talk about all the time um yeah the black mage village that has like a

[01:26:52] bivari somber feel to it yeah it's a final band it's just perfect man like I like come back to all the time on just like the base ass PS1 version because I don't see another wrong with it

[01:27:06] and then I do have a confession though yes I've never beat it he either it's tough I've gotten to like I remember seeing kujia like ascending up and like shit was going down

[01:27:21] and then my save corrupted on my PSP oh no like the very last battle with kujia where he destroys the crystal or whatever I don't think I even got to that point I know that I was on a last disc

[01:27:32] and I was like pretty far into it and like shit was kind of going down pretty heavy with kujia it was probably like the third to last area of the game and that's what it goes train yeah

[01:27:43] my I got a yes first summon and then I had stopped playing shortly after that so I feel like I got pretty far you did pretty good that's pretty far on the game actually that's like I think

[01:27:54] that's more than halfway through the first disc I believe yes oh yeah but yeah I I need to go back and I need to beat that game because that's we need to go back my second game that I also think

[01:28:10] is perfect is steamworld highest a game that you can very often get for like fucking $2 whether it's on steam on switch on like PlayStation I think but it's on sale on in on the Nintendo

[01:28:24] store right now for a dollar and four cents as we speak or no it's steam sorry that's on steam yeah it's an accent if you love tactics RPGs it's awesome like instead of being like x-com where

[01:28:37] it's like you have a 90% chance to blow this fucking aliens face off but you somehow you get that 10% chance for you miss and then the alien murders your entire squad that sucks ass but not

[01:28:49] in steamworld highest no no no if you can see it and you can get your gun to it or your bolts to whether it's by like fine aiming your scope or bouncing bullets off of like every single

[01:29:02] thing inside and the finally hitting the enemy you can do it you can do it man there's there's different like classes for each character where again each character belongs to like a certain class but they all play completely different from one another like no two characters

[01:29:18] really feel the same like they all develop different perks as they level up the story maybe isn't the greatest ever but i mean the gameplay rules the the atmosphere and the visuals rule the music rules it's

[01:29:34] just about it it's a salt it's only like maybe 15 to 20 hours long as well too and it's great steamworld highest great let me all you to say is x-com and I'm in it's really it's just 2D x-com is really

[01:29:52] all is it's 2D x-com it's yeah you know root i two next com i don't normally like those types of games like i don't mind them but it's not like my first go to but since i've been playing magma

[01:30:05] and battle network and finally realizing that i really like it i'm like the action place of one of these because magma and battle network is kind of like a weird mishmash of very weird like

[01:30:15] yeah it's it's cool though i'm discovering things i didn't think i liked yeah magma and battle network is very weird that's it though that's the games we think are perfect yeah that's uh

[01:30:43] talk about the history of the show super saga uh and what's what's the future of the show gonna look like huh what's the next hundred episodes gonna be there's gonna be a lot of nudity

[01:30:54] this is gonna be a lot of fun to get that only fans up and run in more macho man sounds yeah they think both you dudes for coming on thank you Tommy for taking the time out of your

[01:31:09] out of your beautiful sunday for coming back on the super pod saga you're welcome and uh thank you Jerry for taking time out of your beautiful day as well too mr man yeah don't waste i just want to

[01:31:22] announce that my my resignation from super pod saga is today unfortunately you know it's just uh it was good run it was good run well i was as far as the the co-host here but yeah no i'm totally kidding

[01:31:36] really i was really excited to actually when you when you message me and you were just like what if what if what is kind of like it was kind of the same conversation that you and i have with retro rehab

[01:31:48] because we were just like constantly talking about retro games and i was like do but like what if you're me out hang on what if we've looking at a show where we just did that as well

[01:31:59] we were like that's fucking crazy can't fucking do that and then we did it and fucking know you're hosted don't you know and then yeah like you just message me out of the blue one they're like do
